Great event with 4 good teams. I didn't get to use my tix because I was invited to a suite both days, but still would have had a great time anyway. Unfortunately this is the only time of year I can afford tix for hockey about Consol. Keep supporting RMU hockey! Big thanks to Jim Vitale and the RMU athletic department.

This is the second time I have been to this event in three years. There's been no improvement on attendance or atmosphere. Penn State needs to support this event with the Blue Band, Nittany Lion, etc. Students and alumni from Pittsburgh need to be aware of this event. Advertising and online information is virtually non-existent. The other two teams besides PSU and RMU should be within driving distance or have solid fanbases. Notre Dame or Michigan would help. This event has a lot of potential but I'm afraid that it's just going to die off.

I went to the inaugural Three Rivers Classic last year, and I've made it my new holiday tradition by returning this year. Both were fantastic experiences. I love hockey. It's great to be able to attend hockey games at Consol without having to sell a kidney for a ticket, even club seats in row B. I went both days and even by the end of the second day I wish there was more to see or maybe vendors selling collegiate jerseys, merchandise, etc. The teams this years were great inclusions. Robert Morris and Penn State should remain permanent participants because they're the local clubs. But, including nationally ranked teams like last year's Miama, and Boston College help on multiple levels. Firstly, showcasing Pittsburgh and the building, the atmosphere, the people, and the Pens organization allows the pens to better pursue potential draft picks. But having RMU and PSU play against powerhouse schools like BC will help them grow and become better teams themselves. Which will in turn make for better hockey all around. If you enjoy watching hockey; come next year. If you're an alumn; come next year. If you're a casual fan that's wants to see a game; come next year. The Three Rivers Classic is fun, exciting, and much appreciated.

I got tickets for both days. With the NHL in a lock out, four games definitely sated my hunger for hockey. The Consol Energy Center is a great arena. Not a bad seat in the building. To make things even better, my favorite college player, Eric Levine, the goalie for RMU was named MVP with over 90 saves in 2 games. It was definitely a great time and I plan on going every year.

This event was better that we ever could have imagined! The matchups brought an intensity on the ice this area has been lacking w/ the NHL lockout! The price for the two day ticket and our excellent seats were well worth every penny, which is unusual in this day and age--a fantastic value! Having Dan Bylsma there as well as the anthem singer were great additions! Only complaint is that they sold out of souvenir shirts the first night and really could have had many souvenirs on sale--shirts, pucks, mini sticks, etc. Would definitely buy tickets to this event again; would love to do the Frozen Four but tickets are so much more expensive!

Although I missed 2/3 of the first game it was a great night for hockey! The venue is always a good location. The games were at a good pace. This was my first experience with college hockey, so I wasn't familiar with how sensitive the calls would be. I had a great time, even if it was not PENGUINS LEVEL HOCKEY!

The hockey tournament is welcomed here in Pittsburgh, a 'hockey' town. I have attended the GLI Tournament , in Detroit, many times over the last 30 years, so to have a local area hockey tournament at home is welcomed by me. I took my Grandson so he could see the level of play that college hockey offers and he enjoyed it. I thought it was unusual that the Consol Energy Center had the Sushi Bar open and not Burgatory. College students typically cannot afford Sushi, but they will always buy a hamburger!

I wanted to see Penn State play while I was home for the holidays but there were no home games in State College during the dates I was home. I saw an advertisement for the Three Rivers Classic during a Penguin game I was watching on ROOT and decided I would go and take my family of five. We went on the second day to watch Penn State play the "championship" game (there were only four teams playing in the tournament). The Consol energy center is a fantastic place to watch a game however for the price I paid to watch a College game it was not worth it. The seats were very good but I would say only about 1/3 of the stadium was filled and there was just no energy in the game nor in the players it seemed. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your money and go to a home game in State College and have a much better time.

It was fun to go to the arena for hockey again. We had Pens tickets years ago, before prices went out of sight, and this was very economical. Consider bringing in WVU, which would add "local" flavor, instead of always having RMU and Penn State.

So, okay, my team did not win, but I still had a very good experience. Our seats were incredible - had a great view of the ice. Every one of the staff was friendly and helpful. The concessions were well staffed and the food was great. This was a two day event, so we spent the night in Pittsburgh. Every thing about the weekend was wonderful: the hotel, the sights, the food. Hope this becomes an annual event. We will definitely come back again!

Great team spirit from the crowd and great games to watch. Loved the RMU pep band, really added to the fun. Can't beat the price to watch 2 awesome games at the Consol. Big thanks to the staff as I was there on crutches and they could not have been more helpful. Handicap seats we had didn't have a ramp so we were upgraded to an area that was almost center ice. Very nice.Would have been nice if the Smoke House had been open for the break between the games. Guess you need more than 11,000 for it to be open. Maybe next year.I do plan on attending next year

Loved the event .....was kinda long though as we watched both games , but well worth it.We will try to attend next years event most definitely. Both teams showed me that, amidst an NHL lockout , that they were here to win it ...not get paid .....if only the professionals played with that zest every day . I have to give a shout out to Adam Levine of RMU.....I expect to see him in the big leagues soon enough...awesome goalie. It was a very defense- laden game and i loved that. This was my son's first live hockey event and he loved every minute of it.

Being hockey fans and huge Penn State fans this was a no brainer. Our new arena is awesome and there seemed to be no bad seats in the house. Every worker was very friendly and helpful. Being that it was our first time there they made it worth our while. I do wish Burgatory was open but understand that this venue was not huge. With the top seating closed off it made business sense. Tons of food choices, and the pulled pork nachos were great. Beer is pricey but when isn't it at any sporting event. Overall, awesome time. Thanks!

The 3 Rivers Classic was great. 2 entertaining games at 1/3 the cost of a Penguins game *(if they were playing). PSU vs OSU was your usual Big 10 rivalry matchup and hard fought until the end. RMU vs Miami was an excellent game. The quality of play in this game was top notch.

This is the third year we have attended the Classic - I guess it helps that my favorite University has played all three years. It's a great way to experience ice hockey at the Consol Center without paying the arm and leg that a Penguins' game cost. Having said that, it seems to me that if the organizers could make the tickets a bit more affordable that they might attract a larger crowd and could offset the lower ticket prices by selling more concessions at their exorbitant costs (i.e. two hot dogs, a 16 oz. soda drink and a bottle of water was $20). Just a thought. Good hockey at an reasonable price.

The four college hockey teams provided 2 quality hockey games on day 1. This year's classic offered 3 top 20 teams and WMU played well despite not being ranked. Both games were entertaining. The goalies for each team made great saves. The local matchup between RMU vs. PSU was highly spirited. Even though not affiliated with either school, I found the atmosphere was enhanced by the enthusiasm of each team's fans and the by the RMU pep band. It was certainly different than attending a Penguins NHL game (except for the concession stand prices).

We have been going to the Three Rivers Classic since it began. Truth be told, the first year was the best year because (a) it was a bit cheaper and (b) there were a lot more people. The teams were fairly evenly matched and the games were all very good. This is such a good concept and could be a great event if it were a little cheaper and was more aggressively advertised. I don't think I heard or saw one thing about these games anywhere. This is a good way to get families to go see hockey games, especially those with younger children. But it is starting to get a little too expensive. If the organizers would advertise more and make the tickets cheaper, say $25.00 each, I think you can get a heck of a crowd there.

Our family really enjoyed the Three Rivers Classic college hockey tournament. NCAA Div I is played at a very high level and get to watch the game at a venue like Consol Energy Center makes it that much better. Having both local teams (Robert Morris and Penn State) ranked in the NCAA top 20 makes the games even more exciting. Bottom line, we highly recommend the Three Rivers Classic.

Excellent 2 day hockey event. Team selection was great. Even though BC dominated, it was great to see that level of talent at the collegiate level. The consolation game between RMU and BG was very competitive. PSU did very well being relatively new to this level of competition. My 8 year old son insists we make it an annual event. I can't argue with him. Highly recommend anyone attend this event. Consol Energy Center is an outstanding facility, and it's a great chance to see excellent hockey without spending a small fortune. We attend 5-6 Penguins games per season in the upper level (212). This gave us an opportunity to sit very close to the boards/glass. I hope they continue to attract this level of collegiate talent in the future.

I loved watching the hockey games as always. Competition could have been better this year but there is no way to predict that the teams invited will be top notch or bottom dwellers. Boston College is a very well coached team. It was almost as cold inside the facility as it was outside. It is a 3 year old building and therefore should not have to be kept at an uncomfortably cold temperature, I should also not be shivering while watching an indoor sporting event. This is not unique to these games but to all hockey events at Consol as I am a Penguins season ticket holder.
