Jack White was the only reason I bought a ticket to Music Midtown this year. And he made it totally worth it. He opened with "Icky Thump" and played songs from all of his bands except The Dead Weather. Jack and his drummer seemed very connected and looked to really enjoy jamming with each other. As amazing as he's always been, I've always thought the better the drummer he has, the better he becomes. It was also instruments galore with several fiddles, ukeleles, and guitars being traded around from song to song and Jack hopping on piano now and again.

So the lineup at Music Midtown was amazing. Red Hot Chili Peppers were on my bucket list, and I was in an amazing spot toward front of the crowd when they played. It was pretty much one of the best live shows I've been to, however, I read that a LOT of people could barely hear RHCP. I didn't experience any sound quality issues due to being up front, but with the amount of ppl who were in attendance: Everyone to the back should be able to hear the show as well. Furthermore, the event staff was absolutely crippled by pouring rain, which killed the ticket scanners & created mud all over everything. We ended up being let thru without anyone checking our tix, & I'm just sayin that's jacked up when I paid as much as I did for those tix, and then to not even have them checked. Anyone literally could just walk in. I would recommend the festival, but only if the lineup is worth it. To be honest, I'm focused more on Bonnaroo next year, & I know they won't have these sorts of issues up there.

Overall, this was a great experience. Food was great, beer prices sucked (not a surprise at music festival). The shows were great. My only complaint - I really wanted to see Jane's Addiction as well as Cake. I have seen Cake before and they were awesome. I had never seen Jane's before, I have loved them since their 1st album. These 2 bands were scheduled at the SAME time. I had to watch one for a few mins and then LEAVE while they were still playing to go catch the end of the other one. There has to be a better way to schedule the times when bands are to play, so we can watch one complete show then walk WAY back through the port o john crowd, through the trees, and across some field so that we can catch some of the other band we came to see. Other than that, I had a great time. On the second day, the rain SUCKED, but the shows were great.

Coldplay alone made the experience fantastic, but almost all the other bands I heard were great. The Black Keys were a little disappointing to me, but otherwise I enjoyed everything. You can hear the bands from anywhere in the park, so you don't need to squish yourself up to the front if you want to hear. Food and drinks were a little expensive, but that's just what you get at festivals like this.

Cold play stole the show! I also really enjoyed The Black Keys and Young the Giant. The venue (Piedmont Park) was awesome aside from the fact that they didn't have nearly enough restrooms and drinks were crazy expensive (but that's to be expected). Overall, had an amazing time with friends and some stellar bands.

Every band that showed to play was wonderful live. Not only was Music Midtown great for seeing my favorite bands like Cage the Elephant and Young the Giant, but there was a lot of new talent that I had never heard of, like Walk the Moon and The Postelles, that now number among my favorite acts.

I hadn't been to a Music Midtown since its former glory days. Long story short I was completely blown away. The vendors were amazing and there were so many activities! The line up was much improved (Foo Fighters and Florence+Machine= Amazing!!!). The only criticism I have is that for 52k people---not enough bathrooms!

Music Midtown is different than the amazing festival it was 10 years ago. However some incredible headliners seemed to be bringing it back to it's glory days. I bought the two day pass to see Foo Fighters friday and Pearl Jam saturday. While I remember the old days being packed in like sardines at the old festival the open venue at Piedmont Park seemed to work really well. There really wasn't a bad place of the field to take in the show however the back hill did seem way to chatty for a band that has only played Atlanta less than a handful of times in 2 decades.

Overall, I thought everything was perfect! Perfect weather, good food, suprisingly clean and nicely stocked Potta-Potty's, GREAT bands, nice people and good set-up! Just a few changes that may help.....make sure next year to have A LOT more Potta-Potty's, more stages instead of the 2 to kind of break-up the extremely LARGE hoard of people, and it would be nice to go back to the 2-3 days of music instead of just the 1 and there should be all kinds off different genres of music. However I discovered a few new bands I now love and Coldplay was amazing!!!! Well Done!!

I have seen many shows in my lifetime from AC/DC to Elton John and this performance stands out as one of my all-time greatest concerts! Chris Martin was not only his usual brilliance at singing his usual line-up from his Coldplay repertoire, but he sang an R.E.M. song as a tribute to the breakup of their band on that Day! Everybody Hurts, one of my all time favorite songs, let alone all of R.E.M. songs. Coldplay went even further to make us in Atlanta feel unique and special by playing an old favorite: Georgia on My Mind! That was sweet, and to hear the new songs from the upcoming release of Mylo Xyloto, live for the first time, just topped it all off to make it one amazing life changing experience for this old Man! I have not felt this emotional about a Concert Event since I saw Rush for the first time in 1985; this however was absolutely hands down, even BETTER! What a brilliant combination of Musical Genius!! I cannot wait til next TIME!

I mainly went for Young the Giant and Coldplay, but the whole line-up was excellent. Young the Giant was new and energetic. Loved it. Coldplay was almost a magical experience. I've seen them before but I think I loved them even more this time! The weather and location was perfect. My only complaint was that the grass was really wet so my shoes (and feet) got really muddy to the point that I had to throw my shoes away by the end of the night. Everything else was great! The beer prices could go down a bit ;)

I am a seasoned concert attendee, averaging about one a month for the last two years, but somehow this was my first music festival. Overall, it was a great experience. I was very pleased with the whole day. I got there right as the first act, The Postelles, opened. They had a pretty good show, considering the low number of people there. Walk the Moon proved to be the most personable band of the day and had a great energy. They really interacted with their fans well (came out and painted some faces with face paint as is tradition at all their shows & took pictures). As the day went on, more and more people flooded the park. Eventually you had to push and shove a bit to keep your spot. However, most people seemed willing to have a good attitude if you had a good attitude and remained respectful of their space as much as you can at concerts. Manchester Orchestra was good, if you're into a more head banging than jump up and down crowd. The Black Keys were a crowd favorite. And then there was Coldplay... awesome! I'd seen their live show from Glastonbury on tv, and I have to say, it was equally good. I was a bit disappointed that they ended their set 20 minutes early, but I was honestly just thankful to get to see them live. The crowd was good; I loved hearing everyone singing along. Disappointments: In order to be anywhere close to the stages for the later shows you had to miss out on the action at the other stage to ensure your spot for the next show. This bummed me out because I really didn't get to see much of Young The Giant and didn't get to see any of Cage the Elephant. It really just depends on your personal preference whether you'd rather be close to the stage for your favorites, or experience all the action from further away. Best features to take advantage of: Free products from businesses and chances to win stuff (this is good if you aren't really into one of the bands, or if you get there early) You are allowed to bring your own empty reusable water bottle or camelback (or one factory sealed bottle of water) and there are water fountains for free refills. Great way to be green and save money Other: Plenty of Merch and Alcohol Booths (if you're into that and don't mind putting down some cash for it). Good T-shirt designs for the actual festival shirts! Lots of port-a-potties. Not much shade around the stage areas (4 days later and I'm still sunburned after lots of aloe... bring sunscreen). Weather was great, but the ground was muddy from the rain earlier on during the week (wear shoes that you're not afraid to get dirty). Most people took Marta and there was a huge line after the show, but honestly that's to be expected, right? Great experience. Highly recommended

The festival was wonderful, luckily there was perfect weather and the entire event seemed to flow smoothly. They did a great job with alternating stages and bands always started EXACTLY on time. The venue was lovely and there was a wide variety of great vendors. I did have to stay in the same spot for hours to get up close for the last few main acts, including The Black Keys and Coldplay, but it was worth it. I discovered a few new bands I really like including The Postelles, Walk The Moon, and Band of Skulls. I was really disappointed in The Constellations, Manchester Orchestra, and The Joy Formidable. They were pretty boring but that is of course just my personal opinion. I will definitely be going back next year!

What else can I say. There's no other place you could see this many incredible bands for 55 dollars. I looked forward to seeing Coldplay and The Joy Formidable the most. The Joy Formidable were amazing, even better than I had anticipated as it was the first time seeing them live. I was also pleasantly surprised with Walk the Moon. "Anna Sun" sounded fantastic live. And then Coldplay happened. Absolutely mindblowing. There were no letdowns at all the entire day. There was plenty of Food/Drink throughout the park and the layout of the festival was perfect. You could choose to hang out on the hill in the shade or get right up close to the stage. The alternating stages was perhaps the best idea of all. Everything seemed really well thought-out. Please bring Music Midtown back next year. I would buy my ticket today if I could.

Although it was pretty hot and I almost got smushed to death before Coldplay played, I was pretty close to the stage for Manchester Orchestra, The Black Keys, and Coldplay. The only problem was that you pretty much had to stay with one stage. If you got out of the crowd to see a band at the other stage, you couldn't really get back where you were. But other than that, it was absolutely incredible!!

Through out the day I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the bands that were at Midtown, I was in aww of Coldplay and they did not disappoint. When I arrived, Walk the Moon was on stage and I had never heard of them. I was very entertained by the songs Walk the Moon played and would say I have become a converted fan. I thought they did a wonderful job and the music they played was superb. My next favorite band was the Black Keys, the brothers did a wonderful job. I enjoy the music they play and thought that they played a great show. Last and definitely not least, Coldplay. WOW! Chris Martin and the guys did an extraordinary job putting on such an energized show. I was extremely impressed with the flawless performance. This was my first real concert and I was very impressed and enjoyed a beautiful day full of music.

I was a bit nervous at first as I was taking my 2 teenage children to their 1st outdoor music festival. The thought of sending them out on their own into a Sea of 50 thousand people was overwhelming ,to say the least. However the crowd was Awesome. The Layout so easy to navigate, and plenty of landmarks to set up meeting/rendezvous places. We had the time of our lives. And now, according to my Kids, I'm the Coolest Dad EVER. Music Midtown was absolutely amazing. Things ran smoothly from the courteous security and ticket scanners at the gates to the polite and obliging security down in the front, beyond the barrier. The sets ran like clockwork, and bands went on exactly when they were scheduled. The constellations sucked hard, but the joy formidable and manchester orchestra rocked hard and the black keys completely blew my mind with their energy and talent. Even so, all of these performances paled in comparison to Coldplay. I'm biased, because they're my clear and away favorite band, but this was their best performance I've seen. Thanks Music Midtown for hosting all of these great bands!

All the bands were excellent - not a dud among them which made the event a great value and Coldplay was incredible. Every act though would have been nicer in a smaller venue, but then you don't get the fireworks, so... ;-D VIP was barely worth it though - the viewing area was off to the side (bad sound - it IS a music event afterall) and not really that close, just less crowded. Food and drink was decent and the bathrooms were very nice. Super VIP seemed completely ridiculous: we checked out what you get and upgrading just made no sense - glad we opted for a hotel room instead, got better parking, breakfast in the morning, no traffic to deal with, and still came out spending far less. They need to rethink the VIP and Super VIP viewing/LISTENing areas to make them a real value - as it was, VIP was just OK, Super VIP seemed nuts for the $$$$.

Definitely a lot of amateur mistakes made by this festival. I only went Saturday and it was a monsoon, so everyone's ticket was soaked and the ticket scanners were not working on them. So I sat in line for 2.5 hours while they attempted to scan everyone's ticket missing out on several groups I wanted to see. They eventually just let everyone in by showing them something resembling a ticket which they should have done much earlier. Lines for food were insanely long and all the stands ran out of most of their food products. Lines for the bathrooms weren't that bad surprisingly. I enjoyed all the acts I got to see a lot: Arctic Monkeys, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, & RHCP, but the biggest stage's sound just wasn't powerful enough to reach the back 1/3 with much force for RHCP. I definitely will not go back unless they pull out some insane lineup due to the massive amount of mistakes by the festival organizers.

The first year back was great but now the event is too crowded, not enough vendors, not enough bathrooms and the lines to get into the event were over 1 hour long (unacceptable). Not sure if I'll return for # 4. They would need to land some big artists.

Overall, MM '13 was really good. I however did not like the 3 stage set up. Scheduling Cake and Jane's Addiction at the same time was really a grievous oversight. The 2 bands basically come from the same time and genre so have a lot of the same fans., me being one of them. I didn't like having to choose b/w the 2. Other than that I had a great time with my friends and enjoyed myself a great deal. Next year please keep it to 2 stages! If not, then please schedule the acts more carefully so there is no conflict with bands that have the same fans.

I've gone to the last two years of music midtown and have had a blast. I even noticed improvements from last year. Specifically, ample beer stations and bathrooms. The lineup is only improving as well. Over the last few years I've seen lots of amazing bands including Phoenix, Girl Talk, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florence and the Machine, Cake, Imagine Dragons, Jane's Addiction, Ludacris and the Arctic Monkeys. Top notch acts in my book. Even with the rain on Saturday this year all was well in the music midtown crowd. Highly recommended.

Friday it wasn't raining and I was in line an hour before the doors opened and got inside in less than 5 minutes. Had a hard time finding the Roxy stage but found it using the music midtown phone app, though none of the vendors I talked to seemed to know where it was. The Mowgli's are amazing performers even though I know little about their music. I am madly in love with Cake; no disappointments. Saturday was raining and my ticket dissolved by the end of the night, so I'm glad I didn't try to re-enter. Entering took at least 30 minutes even though I was in about the same place in line as on Friday. Some bathrooms that were available on Friday were restricted to the handicapped on Saturday, and I spent at least 30 minutes waiting in line to go each time (at least 3 times... I have a tiny bladder and only had two beers and a coke)... barely ever any toilet paper or hand sanitizer available... so I missed most of Reignwolf, who was the main person I wanted to see that day... and Imagine Dragons... left Kendrick Lamar (Roxy Stage) 30 minutes early trying to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they started, but also had to go to the bathroom again... so I was far back in the crowd, where I was relying more on the people ahead of me to sing me the song than the Chili Peppers, and I think I saw the screen for maybe 30 seconds. (I'm not even 5 feet tall.) I love the Chili Peppers, but I left at 10:30 out of disappointment... I couldn't tell if they had walked off the stage or not... It was strange because I could hear Journey on Friday from down the street after I left the park.

Piedmont Park is a great location in Midtown Atlanta with a beautiful outdoor setting. It was easy to find lodging nearby, although I'd recommend staying off Peachtree since the hotels raise their prices by $200 or more/night during the festival weekend and it was very easy to stay Downtown and take a short Marta commute, for a nicer hotel at a much lower price. Plenty of eateries, bars, pubs, and shops are within walking distance and the Atlanta police force made it easy by blocking off sections of streets surrounding park exits and providing assistance with cab service and street crossings with diverted traffic flow. That said, you don't want to be anywhere close to the festival in a car because they effectively put pedestrians first. The festival offers free full-sized water bottles at the first aid tent and there was plenty of good food options in the form of local food trucks. Good beer/liquor selection too, but at the expected steep prices of concerts/large events. Even though it rained most of Saturday, the festival didn't miss a beat since the acts played right on in good spirits, and despite the mud the park was still accommodating.

It rained all morning on Saturday, and was really muddy, so be sure to pack rain gear just in case for next year! You can't help that though, so that has nothing to do with my review. I was a little upset that a few bands were on stage at the same time (ie cake and Jane's addiction) because I wanted to see cake and my friends wanted to see janes addiction and it was a tough compromise to go between the two stages... Also, for chili peppers, the sound booth in the middle of the crowd blocked a lot of the stage, making it difficult to see from the middle back...other than that, the bands were great!! I lived the roxy stage with the lights of midtown in the back!

The selection of musicians was incredible. Glad the Blues (ZZ Ward) was represented. All acts, except Queens of the Stoneage, ran like clockwork. Them spilling over into the Red Hot Chili Peppers was inexcusable. Food and drinks were incredibly expensive. Not enough places to sit and eat. Insufficient number of porta potties given the size of the crowd (45 minute wait on Saturday). The no smoking law was not enforced at all. I saw no security among the crowd other than two police officers during Kendrick Lamar. It was a good event but there were way too many people there for the accommodations provided.

I don't really think I liked having 3 stages this year. Bands I was looking forward to overlapped and it took too much time to get from the extra 3rd stage to the original two. Because of that, they're was a bigger crowd which is great, except for the navigation part. I think it's great they are expanding, but I just didn't care for the third stage. Besides the rain, it was still an incredible, unforgettable, forever good time!

Pros: Easy access to venue. Great bands. Able to go back to vehicle if needed. Cons: It poured, and the place became a mud hole. Need more food stations. Believe it or not, 300 port a pots is not enough. Backpacks. They need to totally ban these. We are there for the concert, not to run away from home. Umbrellas. Ban. Stopped raining during Imagine Dragons. Great set. That stage is better than the one the RHCP were on. The ground in front of the Peppers is flat and it's hard to see the stage if you are close. Stage needed about 3-5 ft in height. Cool shops and art work. Ferris wheel. would like to go back when the weather is nice.

This was my first multi-day festival and it was fantastic. The line-up was great and the venue was too (albeit a bit wet and muddy on Saturday). Top five acts: Mowgli's Weezer Queens of the Stone Age ZZ Ward Red Hot Chili Peppers Would definitely go back again!

I bought this ticket to see 4 bands: Jane's Addiction, Journey, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers which all put on great shows. I give a 5 star rating for these performances in my review. Jane's Addiction- a good rock band with the acoustic version of "Jane Saids" Journey- instrumental solos by all the members, Arnel Pinneda puts on a good lead show, several sing alongs, and a special "Georgia" ending to wow The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- completely rocked. Karen O you are fantastic! The Red Hot Chili Peppers- new hits mixed with old with Flea entertaining. The visuals on stage were superior. The best show of the festival! The Music Midtown festival had good performers all around, the festival could be better organized (ex: more restrooms, more higher quality food, and a better ticket system that would not crash come rain/clouds). I also think that 10th street should close for about an hour after to let the rush of 80,000+ people get on their ways by foot.

The whole festival had a good vibe even with the rain on Saturday. There was plenty of food, booze, and dirty hippies. There was even some mud sliding going on. All the bands were very energetic and talkative. Journey was my highlight but weezer was a close second. Everyone around Atlanta should definitely check it out. -Matthew Starkville MS

Great event, perfect place, awesome bands! The sound was not very good during the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert. I haven't seen any fights or other problems, but if it had happened, I didn't see any guards or officers.

Went and saw the artists on Saturday at Piedmont Park. UNBELIEVABLE! Neon Trees put on a great show. Florence and the Machine was out of this world and Girl Talk totally got the crowd going. It was a beautiful day and the first time I had ever been to a show at this venue. I had an amazing time and I'll definitely be coming back!

Everything was good: bands, sound, logistics, food was surprisingly varied, tasteful, and not overpriced, beer, etc. with one very important exception: bathrooms. I get this is a massive event, but waiting 30 minutes in line? And quality of course was well below desirable. Again, music, food and drinks were awesome! Hope we can have another lineup like this next year.

Florence, LUDA,Girl Talk,TI,Neon Trees was like having your cake and eating it too.....the rest made it a complete meal

The combination of other fans mixed w/ Pearl Jam fans made the day a bit trying. They didn't seem to fathom the fact that there are no fans like Pearl Jam fans & that was why we were waiting outside the gate 2 hours before it opened, ran straight to the front of the stage when it opened, and forfeited food, drink, and bathroom for the next 11 hours to keep our spot. There were quite a few people who thought they should be able to show up at their convenience, armed with their entitlement, and pull the "I am trying to get to my friends trick". Unfortunately for them, we had all been together all day and knew who was with who. Having said all of that, PEARL JAM was amazing as always. I didn't really enjoy many of the other performances, but that is just personal preference, not because they were bad. I hope the festival does great in the future, but I would not be surprised if they realize next year that Pearl Jam was the main reason for pulling in such a huge dedicated crowd. I didn't get to experience many other aspects of the festival, but it is a gorgeous venue.

I drove to ATL just to see The Avett Brothers at Midtown Music Festival! Just like all their other shows I've been to, it was unforgettable! I will be a die hard Avett fan for life... I loved how they play a lot of their new songs, but they also played some old stuff like "At the Beach" and "Go to Sleep." And of course, they closed with "Talk on Indolence." SO AWESOME.

Friday: It was cool to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts play live. Joan Jett is bad-ass and puts on a really great show. The Avett Brothers came out and played the best 90 minutes I ve seen from them. Saturday: Ludacris was disappointing. It was the exact same show I saw less than a year ago. Everything was the same- most noticeably the obnoxious, self-promoting chatter between songs. Neon Trees were arguably the best of the day. The entire set was energetic and fresh. We learned things about who the Neon Trees are and what they represent. Florence + the Machine was next. I didn't get a great spot for this show, but from what I could see and hear, it was fantastic. Florence Welch seems like an amazing human- so talented and humble. Due to the back-to-back amazing shows, I had to take a dinner/potty break and didn't make it down to the stage for Girl Talk, an act I was really looking forward to. From afar, it seemed like an incredibly awesome, high-energy show. Pearl Jam was amazing. Eddie Vedder puts on a hell of a show. He did an excellent job of connecting with the crowd, and making us feel that he truly appreciated our presence as a crowd. The food was great- lots of options. My only complaint about the festival itself is having to stand in a 20-minute line for a porta-potty with no toilet paper. Overall, it was a great experience that really made me regret my decision not to go last year for Coldplay. I can t wait for next year!

After attending in 2012 I purposely bought VIP tix for the all day Saturday event. The food was great and the bathroom conditions far better than general admission. However, there was no VIP access to the other side of the park to see Queens of the Stone Age or Imagine Dragons. The least you could do was play it on the big screen instead of ads for 90 min so the people in VIP could see the acts performing across the park.

We had a GREAT time at Music Midtown! Got to see some of the best bands live. People were nice & having a great time. Next year, the restroom situation HAS to be resolved. The porta-potties were absolutely sickening (I'll spare you the details, but there was no toilet paper and nowhere even remotely clean to sit down & people did their business everywhere). The lines were WAY too long for the restrooms. There should have been 3x as many units and someone there to clean them up a little and refill toilet paper for the thousands of people. They were truly something out of a nightmare. BUT... That's the only criticism I have of the event. It was a GREAT time and we'll be back next year if possible!

Waited 3 hours in the pouring rain just to get into an event that I already paid for. The only band I really wanted to see on Saturday was Weezer...I was able to hear bits and pieces of their show...outside of the park....in the rain. Weezer was finished before I got in. The disorganization of this event is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable.

Overall, MM2013 was pretty good. The bands and performances were almost all great, as usual. There seemed to be some kind of technical problem with RHCP, which was disappointing, but everyone else I saw was well worth the price of admission. The rain and mud was a minor disaster, but that's not necessarily something within anyone's control. Putting up the plastic walkways through the vendor areas was a good start, but I would have liked to see more proactive steps to do something - anything - about how disgusting it got over the course of Saturday. Some quick wood chips or pine straw in the heavy traffic areas would have made everyone's life less miserable and probably mitigated damage to the park as well. I did notice there were a lot more port-o-potties this year, which was a nice improvement.

My husband & I got two-day passes for the event and he took a work buddy on Friday night. Saturday it rained, and rained, and rained -- so we waited until later in the day and headed to the event around 5 p.m. in time to see the evening headliners. After raining in Piedmont Park all day, the whole grassy area had basically turned into a mudpit, so be wary of weather conditions! In spite of the bad weather, the event was PACKED. The good: It was fun and a great way to see multiple bands at an awesome outdoor venue. Acoustics were great, the stage set up (for all three) was great. I only wish it hadn't been so wet! Would've been awesome to bring a blanket and hang out on the grass all day. The little art vendor section was really cool and an awesome addition to walk through. The bad: There were SO many people. There were NOT enough food vendors or bathrooms (especially bathrooms) to accommodate the crowd. Lines were really long for both -- I waited a half hour to use a porter potty that was literally about to overflow. No one wants that. No one. We didn't even buy any food because the vendor area was so packed.

Overall it was a great 2 day festival with lots of great bands. Everyone could have done without the rain on Saturday. The worst part about it was the long lines! The lines to get in were too long, but the constant long lines for the restrooms were the worst part. If you had to use the restroom be prepared to wait 30 minutes minimum.

The lineup was awesome, the concerts were great, the new stage overlooking the skyline was fantastic. The rain was terrible, which isn't anybody's fault obviously. But the ticket scanners stopped working in the rain, which made the lines outrageous. We missed Weezer because of it and actually went home until the problem was fixed.

I would like to say that the lineup of bands at this event was great. The mud was mother nature's fault but one thing that did bother me was the lack of plan b when the weather interrupted the ticket scanning service was discouraging. The lines to get in on Saturday were absolutely ridiculous. I also think they needed more portapotties.

The entrances had no organization at the park. You could wait in the line an hour to get in, or just cut the line like everyone else...Meanwhile, why even buy a ticket--I saw enough people climbing fences to sneak in. This is quite possibly the most unorganized festival I've ever been to. It was easier to leave the festival and go to a restaurant than wait in line and eat there. Even the rain couldn't make this festival more awful than it already was--if anything it probably kept people from fence-jumping. You'd really expect better from Atlanta...

I know the weather is something the organizers can't control, but it certainly made for a miserable afternoon. Lines too long, porta potties were beyond disgusting, I didn't eat the whole time I was there because of the questionable hygiene. Is there any reason more permanent and clean bathrooms can't be built in the park? Between the Peachtree Road Race, Gay Pride, and all the other numerous events held in Piedmont Park, I believe the Atlanta tourism board could find the money to build more bathrooms. Okay, but the bands this year were fantastic.

Even though it was pouring down rain during the festival it was amazing! The bands were amazing, the sound systems sounded perfect, even in the rain! The festival had a great selection of t-shirts and food. My only reserve was that there wasn't enough shelter from the rain in between the bands. But still the entire event was amazing and the crew did a great job making sure everyone had a good time.

With wait times well over an hour to get in the park, the event was not planned well at all. No place to stand and see the show when the rain was coming down in buckets. A carless event that did not offer shuttle service to the train. Shows were stacked on top of each other that you had to choose from but that wasnt too much of a problem because you are stuck in line trying to get in the park during some of the best acts. Piedmont Park is a great place for a show but this event was very poorly planned. The rain took the entire staff by shock, even though it was a leading news story in Atlanta all week that it was going to pour on Saturday. Not enough bathrooms. Way too much mud. Elderly staff trying to scan wet pieces of paper with 100000 people in line, magic word= wrist bands! Now on to the show...RHCP played a very mellow show that did not include most of the upbeat songs that I wanted to hear. QOTSA killed it...best act. Weezer was ok but it was pouring the whole time and Cake had a great encore. The rest of the show I missed due to long lines to get in.

For my first full-fledged music festival, these are definitely 2 days I will never forget. Performances were great across the board, most notably, Queens of the Stone Age, for whom I had the privilege of being only 2 rows back from the stage. Day 1 was fairly warm and sunny, while day 2 was a cool and extremely rainy day, which turned Piedmont Park into a absolute mudfest. The only major snag was waiting in line for close to 2 hours that second day due to a convergence of four separate lines into one huge cluster at the side entrance to the park. This unfortunately caused my friends and I to miss performances by The Neighbourhood and Weezer, which was very disappointing. Still, a great festival to call my first, and some unforgettable performances by some of my favorite artists!
