Angelique was full of stories and accompanied by very skillful guitarist and percussionist. Her voice was as rich and beautiful as expected. I didn't know a lot about her history so it was a fantastic introduction to an extraordinary person, on top of the joy of both listening to her sing and sharing concert with my parents who had never heard or heard of her. No bad seat in the house. We were fourth route, farthest end.

You will be hard pressed to be in the same room with someone with a voice so beautiful. Definitely one of the best voices I've ever heard and a voice given to an extraordinary artist with an extraordinary soul and sense of purpose!

This is the second time that I have seen Angelique and this performance was just as wonderful as the first time. Everytime she comes to the Washington, DC area I will make it a point to see her. I love her energy and her music. I love how she walks around and dances with people. She is so personable!

I saw Angelique Kidjo two years ago and had to see her again this year. She engages with the audience and invites everybody on stage to sing and dance with her when she performs her popular uptempo stuff. Her concerts are more like a party....you have to see her; whether you understand the words of the music or not, you'll enjoy it all the same....

I enjoyed every moment of Angelique's fiery performance. It was just the boost of energy that I needed. I especially appreciated the way that she maintained the traditions of her country in the songs, dance and way she interacted with the audience and allowed them onstage to dance with her in the Circle of Love and Unity.

I was somwhat sceptical about seeing Angelique in Listner auditorium- she is not what I would call a "sit down entertainer". She is full energy and always manages to bring the crowd to its feet. Despite the awkward set up, Angelique was able to bring the crowd to its feet, bringing everyone to the stage and dancing all through the auditorium. It was the most amazing show I have seen in a loooonggg time!!!

From the moment she stepped out onto the stage, all alone, she was captivating. Then she started singing without any musical accompaniment and we were under her spell for the rest of the evening. The power of her voice and spirit are matched only by the incredible control she has of both voice and body and her generosity toward her audience is of a kind rarely seen in performers anywhere. To see Angelique Kidjo perform live is to be a part of a beautiful spectacle, bewitched by one of the most energetic, loving, and talented musicians I've ever seen.

Fantastic is all I can say: she was a showman, er, showoman, with a voice that itself is like a musical instrument. She was incredible: crowd friendly, with positive loving messages and the result of her personality and her music and great back-up band, was the CROWD LOVED HER: WE COULD NOT GET ENOUGH!! WE COULD PARTY TILL DAWN with our beloved ANGELIQUE and still not get enough. MESSAGE TO LISNER AUDITORIUM: BRING HER BACK and ASAP. Yes, that's how much we loved her!!!! /stevie

I went to this event with high expectations, having seen Ms. Kidjo the last time she was in town. She did not disappoint. She has a beautiful, strong voice, high energy, she's a wonderful dancer, and her "smoothies" (blending the best (beat/tempo/style/whatever) from many countries into one song) are impossible not to dance to. Even my husband, who was trepidatious about attending, was on his feet dancing. If you've heard of her and aren't sure whether you should see her live - GO. if you haven't heard of her, go anyway. You will not be disappointed...just sweaty from the dancing.

Angelique's rythmic sounds filled the auditorium with her rich voice and cultural lyrics. She surprized me however when she mixed James Brown, and other popular music with Afro beat; it was a pleasure to my ears and a souful experience. This was my first concert seeing her and I look forward to seeing her again.

An amazing performance. I am a huge fan and have seen her multiple times. It was my first since her new album release. But she never lets us down. Her new album does go back to the sounds of her older albums. I loved what she played from her new album and some of the more familiar songs she sings at most shows. She was full of energy and some new dance steps. Her band is new with only 2 from her last tour. By the end of the concert we were on stage and dancing with her. She loves what she does and she so great at it. A must see for anyone who loves to dance and hear her wonderful voice and love for her country.

No performer is as dynamic a performer as Angelique Kidjo. She moves and dances during almost every song. Not only does she encourage the audience to dance on stage, but has each and every member (some three dozen plus people) do some solo moves. I have now seen her five time and she has never been less than terrific!

African world music artist Angelique Kidjo brought the african soul, funk, traditional as well as covers of american classics to Walt Disney Concert Hall. She was so warm energetic and with a strong voice!! She shared anectdotes of her childhood and philosphy of life that love is the best and strongest force in the world for overcoming discrimination and hate. She left the stage and visited most of the sections of the concert hall to be among and shake hands with the fans. She then invited everyone on stage to dance with her for a couple of songs. She sang practically all her hits and had the crowd dancing, jumping and singing along. She received thunderous applause and had the crowd cheering for more. It was the first time I had seen Miss Kidjo in concert and would highly recommend the concert to fans or newcomers who would like to see a fantastic show.

Angelique Kidjo is clearly a powerhouse but the show we saw at the Town Hall was disappointing -- probably because the acoustics were horrid. We could not make out 95% of what she said or sang! We were in the second section of the balcony, but later - at the end of the show we were standing in the front of the balcony, and still could not figure out her words. The musicians were fabulous, but seemed to compete with her in some of the songs - which meant that she had to scream to be heard above them. Regretfully we brought friends from abroad for this performance - for them it was very costly and unfortunately not worth it.

The concert was great and Angelique is a wonderful singer! She has so much energy! We enjoyed tremendously both the dancing and singing. I also enjoyed the fact that she spoke about her dedication and her work on behalf of African women, and their dreams that very few reach and their rights that are pretty much disregarded in many cultures in Africa. It is nice to see singers/actors who use their influence to do good for other people. Lastly, but not in the least, the band was excellent! The drummers, wow!

I had such an incredible time with Angelique. She is fabulous! She's like that funky aunt that you could only wish for. You know, the one with enough spunk and attitude to fill up a stadium. For over two hours this ball of fire never stopped! She sang her heart out (and Oh, My God, what a voice!!) danced, talked with the audience and gave of her glorious positive energy to all who were there. This is my second Angelique Kidjo concert and while the first one was fabulous, this went so far beyond as to have been life altering. I walked (OK, floated) out of there feeling better about a world that has such people in it. The glow continues a week later. LOVE THAT LADY! And clearly so did the rest of the audience. More than half were singing along, dancing in the aisles, making eye contact with strangers and just smiling at each other. The sharing of the experience was every bit as wonderful as the concert itself!

It started off as a relatively formal event, as most people (of all ages) were dressed up. Angelique was dynamite and started her setlist. Everyone was sitting, maybe clapping along. At about the third song in, an older man starts dancing, by himself, in the front of the middle aisle. After this man started dancing, people (of varying ages) from all over the auditorium started standing up and dancing right at their seats. It was a little silly, but then more people started dancing, and more people, and then I started dancing, and every single person (who was capable) got up, out of their seats and started dancing. It was an extremely moving experience that brought together people of all ages and ethnicities together for the love of African music.

Angélique Kidjo and her band were in fine form at the intimate Jo Long Theatre on Saturday night. A multi-ethnic, multi-generational audience listened, danced, and sang along--as though this were a gathering of old friends instead of strangers from all walks of life. This is the magic that this performer brings to her shows. As she so often does, Ms. Kidjo invited audience members to join her on stage late in the show, creating even more participatory fun for the whole house. From her many original songs to covers of James Brown and Aretha Franklin, she kept the lovely melodies and lively rhythms going while interspersing personal stories and observations from her years living in Benin and traveling the world. Five stars are not enough to convey how moving Ms. Kidjo's live performances are. Do yourself a favor and go see for yourself. When you do, be prepared to dance and sweat!

Angelelique Kidjo's performance was simply amazing! Her variety of selections shows her musical versatility. The band is heavy duty, particularly Daniel Freedman who kicked the show along with his sensitive and powerful drumming.

Not only does her beautiful voice seduce you and make you want to hear more and more, but her stories in between are precious. Her band is phenomenal and the energy on the stage is so powerful and all positive. She sends a clear message that she wants you to be as much of the show as she is and truly gets everyone off their feet dancing!!!

It was an absolute blast; Angelique did rock the house, one of the best concerts I have seen in a long time. She did connect with the public from the first moment, everybody, and I mean everybody was dancing half way through the concert, young and old, no exception, one of these moments you wish they last forever (this may sound strange, but the Lisner Auditorium is all seated, like a movie theater)
