My friends and I have all seen a lot of shows and on our way out of the show I asked each of them to name 3 shows better than this one. None of us could. I was absolutely stunned. One of the best shows I have ever seen. He comes alive in person. I just can't say enough. I'm sorry I didn't catch a show earlier on his tour, as I would have planned my travel schedule around towns he's playing in. DO NOT MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THIS GUY!

I just discovered Mayer in April after seeing him perform a short set in Napa. I immediately bought both of his albums and bought a ticket to see him at the Fillmore. I had no idea how much he was going to blow me away! He interacts with the audience well, Mayer and his band are so in sync with each other from dance moves to harmonizing together so well, and I did not stop dancing once! He has such a presence to him and is unlike any other singer i've ever seen in concert. When I got home from the concert, I bought a ticket to see him the next night in Napa because his show blew me away so much. I hope that I can see him again soon!

Mayer Hawthorne and the County is so refreshing! They are such talented entertainers you will be dancing all night! I saw them recently in Boston and they are definitely in my list of favorite shows ever. I am actually going to see them again next week! What was really nice about the last show I was at was that they gathered so many different age groups under one roof for a great time, from young to old! I would definitely recommend seeing them if they are in your area, you'll be happy you did!

Mayer Hawthorne puts on a great live show! He sounds just as good in person as he does on the album. He chose an amazing set list and added some remixes and never-before-heard tracks. His backup band is superb. The sponsor of the event also added a lot of nice touches, like the free photo booth.

What a great show! I had seen Hawthorne once before and when he left the stage he left my friends wanting more. Seeing him at Webster Hall, he did not disappoint and he gave me the same feeling of wanting more! He gives it 110% when on stage. I can not wait to see him again whenever that may be!

I had only read reviews about Mayer and listened to a few songs, but I bought tickets to the show for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I've always loved Motown and Mayer did not disappoint. My boyfriend is more rock 'n roll, but even he had a great time and is going to buy the album on vinyl to play. He's got a lot of charm on stage and has ridiculous chops. Very fun. I would totally see him again if and when he comes to NYC.

Having recently discovered Mayer Hawthorne's debut album, "A Strange Arrangement," I was very excited to see him live in a midsized venue like Webster Hall. I knew the music would be good, but what I was most impressed with was Mayer's showmanship. He's an incredibly charismatic frontman, giving 110% the whole time. Plus the County are an amazing backing band - excellent instrumentalist who also provided tight backing vocals with sometimes three- and four- part harmonies is surprising but just awesome. As Mayer introduced the County, all but one of which were from his hometown of Ann Arbor, it was clear that these guys had been playing together for some time - and the music showed it.

Just happened to be in Boston and saw that The Heavy was in town, so we had to catch the show. The Heavy was incredible and I would love to have given this rating five stars just because of them. Once they finished their set, we waited to hear this "Mayer Hawthorne" fellow. Neither one of us had even heard of him or heard any of their music. Soon after they started playing their set of poppy rainbow sunshine whatever you want to call it, we were out of there. I guess this is what all the college hipsters are listening to now... It is certainly not anything I would care to listen to... Ever. I guess this is what all the college hipsters are listening to now...

I've been anticipating this show for so long now and it exceeded my high expectations above and beyond. I woulda loved the show if Mayer stood on stage and talked the entire time, but he blew me away with the songs from Strange Arrangement, covers, and the sample from the new album. He's easily my favorite artist because he brings the new school and old school together perfectly. This was an experience that I will never forget. Being in the front row, watching him perform was simply amazing. This will not be the last time I see him live.

Friday , 11/12/2010 was a great night in Hollywood California...Mayer Hawthorne put on a spectacular show at the The Music Box. I was looking forward to it for months. Originally I had ordered 2 tickets for myself and a friend. A few days later, I had purchased mored more for my sister and her husband. The set was long and the sound was awesome. Im pretty sure he perormed all the songs off the album and with extras! A great deal for the price and good crowd. He really gives it his all as he always has. I recommend everyone to go see him anytime you can. Sold out this show and I'm sure more will sell out as well.

The venue was pretty nice a little bit smaller than the Wiltern. Anyway my bf and I came a little bit late we missed seeing Childish Gambino :( but its ok we saw mayer hawthorne & the county. Let me say that I love it when they artist sounds good live as on a recording. Thanks Mayer Hawthorne for not being a sell out to electronizing your voice. The county is an awesome band each musician could shred in their individual instruments.

5 STARS FOR MAYER! See previous review - just needed to correct an error below in "favorite moment." Great band, great show, high caliber musicians - fun! Be prepared to move your feet! Mayer is so talented - no need for any other bands to open, Make the set a little longer - the body of music deserves it and Mayer can go solo. Opening bands need to lower the volume (please!).

MAYER HAWTHORNE WAS GREAT! So much fun, dancing and rocking to the music. Loved the new songs and look forward to getting them. However - the first two bands/ opening acts - "Gordon Voidwell" and "The Heavy" were impossible to enjoy. The VOLUME was EXCRUTIATINGLY LOUD! Ear spitting even with ear plugs! And absolutely could not enjoy such distorted sounding music. Don't know if it's the Williamsburg Music Hall or the bands, themselves, who determine the sound volume, but I really wanted to leave. Seriously suggest a major volume adjustment. Louder does NOT equal better! Would have been a 5 star review, if not for this issue. However - Mayer was well worth the wait! Would have loved even a longer set. Thanks, Mayer Hawthorne and The County - you guys were terrific. Come back soon!

Went to see MH for the first time in WIlliamsburg, wasn't sure what to expect of the venue or the artist, since I had never heard him live. But my friends and I were excited to check it all out, we were amazed at the intimacy of the venue, you really got a chance to get up close to the artist. The acoustics were amazing, and Hawthorne's performance outstanding. He was soulful and worked the crowd well getting laughs and even performed some unexpected older covers, like Michael McDonald's "What a fool believes." Definately a 5 star performance from an artist I expect to hear big things about in the next few years, for only $20 a ticket...unreal!

First, the opening band (if you can call it that) was awful, awful, awful. Im sorry had it been another city they would have been booed out. They had no style, started their set with a Blondie cover song, my goodness, honestly no need for an opening band for Mayer's ticket. Mayer Hawthorne was awesome, he makes you dance, its a quality grade A set and every song sounded bombastic, he has an energy that is addicitive as well as productive. Dress to impress along with the County, they show the quality of what a musician should have (unlike the opening band) .. Cuteness overload, he's charistmatic, funny and overall TALENTED.

Mayer Hawthorne's concert on 6-17 in Napa was a fun, fabulous trip into retro Motown/r& b/beach music. He was incredibly engaging and brought the crowd into the fun. Mayer Hawthorne was simply amazing. But that's not all, there was Harlan and Allen Stone who were both unbelievable. They could each be doing their own shows, but we got to see them for opening acts. The venue was comfortable and small, so I was able to get some autographs right on the stage during intermission. The best part, besides Hawthornes' singing of course, was seeing Mayer before the show. The show was at 8 and we got there at 6ish and he was walking around the front of the theater and so comfortable. I then saw him eating in the theater snack area about two feet from us. Overall, Harlan killed the guitar and was stunning, Stone had amazing vocals and a great band, and as you would expect, Mayer was perfect. It was a great way to spend Fathers Day with my pops.

Love, enthusiasm and fun. That's what Mayer Hawthorne brings to the table. The freshest sounding artist I've heard in a long time. Modern-day soul meets Motown meets hip-hop meets hipster glasses. My boyfriend and I were enthralled. He loves his audience like he loves his henny & ginger ale. What a fun show. F-U-N. I'd see him again and again and again and... Great neo-soul show. Probably a quarter of the crowd old enough to know the influences first-hand (we were all singing along with Al Green during the exit music) and a good number on the floor too young to enjoy the Henny and Ginger Ale being served in the encore.

It's what's missing with new artists - the ability to actually put on a show. The band dressed the same, synchronized movements; all the standbys of true entertainers, rather than just someone on stage playing songs from their album. Hopefully the next one is at House Of Blues, or a bigger venue with better sight lines (my only complaint), but if you like a good time and have the chance, definitely get out and see Mayer Hawthorne.

Mayer Hawthorne puts on a great show, with a nice refined rock-soul sound.

Mayer Hawthorne's show was a blast. Loved the song selection, loved his voice, loved him (he is so smooooth, and cute!) His band was fantastic and really tight. The room was full of great energy and people enjoying themselves, onstage and in the audience. Really glad I went (even though it was late for a Monday night.)
