I've been waiting since 2008 when I first heard about this musical to see it. Definitely worth the wait and such an amazing show. Could really tell the cast brought their all and loved how much it truly in visioned Green Day and what their American Idiot album was all about.

The music was amazing.... The lyrics told most of the story. The lights were great. The singing was beautiful. I was sitting in the 20th row, that was my mistake. Would have loved to be closer. I have heard that the music was going to be loud. I thought it could have even been louder. I walked away completely happy feeling like I just witnessed something very artsy. Thank you for putting this out there. I am looking forward to the the Movie. If that is still happening.

I am not a fan of musicals, so I was a bit worried about whether I would like the show or not. I loved it! I love Green Day! It was great to hear the music. The story line was powerful yet it did not interfere with the music. I could really feel the emotions to the characters in the story. I loved that the band blended in with the set.

Been a Green Day fan for 20+ years and was a little skeptical about this undertaking. After seeing the reviews and noted the show playing in STL decided to give it a whirl. SO glad I did! An awesome mix of Green Day rock and Broadway show. I would see it again!

This show was a shocking example of our modern ADD culture. IT contained a rapid fire stimulation of sight and sound. A little over the top with the f-bomb it was more like a machine gun. You need to be prepared for many very adult themes. Great musicians and singers. Incredible talent. If you like Green Day or just good rock and roll this is the show to see. This show is a closer relationship and expression of our modern day youth and the battles they face.

Overall, I thought it was a good show, especially if you like Green Day's music. However, the story was lacking. The characters needed further development and there needed to be more dialogue. The music, lighting, and choreographing were spectacular, but the story was lacking. The songs were enough to carry the idea of what was going on, but not to create memorable and relatable characters.

An amazing connection between the songs of Green Day and a story involving three friends who take separate paths and through their struggles in navigating a confusing world return to where they started.

Green Day's music transitions effortlessly from album to stage in "American Idiot." Minimal dialogue is used to serve as timestamps, and the songs effectively tell the stories of three young men on quests to make something of their lives. Beautifully staged.

When I heard that American Idiot was coming to Utica, New York, I wasted no time in purchasing the tickets. I am so thankful I did! Everything was done right from the music, to the dancing, to the costumes, to the extravagant set. I absolutely adored "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." I found it interesting that the song is about being all alone, but at the last chorus the entire company sings along with the main character. It is something to think about...I wish the show could play every night. I would be right there in the audience rocking out loud :D

Loved everything accept for the casting of St.Jimmy. He was too flamboyant for the character I think, and his singing was not good, to say the least. Get a new St.Jimmy and it would have been a perfect show.

I was disappointed in the show especially considering the ticket price. I've seen many musicals of different genres and this one was mediocre at best. The music was good but the choreography was nonsense. The choreography resembled high intensity aerobics more than anything. The plot was hard to follow in places and resembled that of "Rent". All in all, I felt it was designed for an immature "Green Day" smitten crowd who could brag to friends they've seen the show. Would recommend only if you are completely bored and need to get out of the house, have money to blow or like bragging to friends.

The cast was awesome. I felt like I was seeing the show for the 5th time on Broadway. I was lucky enough to see Billie Joe perform the role of St. Jimmy several times and I still had the the same level of excitement at this show. The energy level of the cast was over the top. Their voices and dancing were phenomenal. The musicians were so talented and energetic. I want to see the show again and again.

I saw this play twice at the Ahmanson Theatre in L.A. 2012... it's awesome! You don't have to be a hardcore Green Day fan to appreciate the story line and the exceptional production of this musical. The play stands on it's own without the notoriety of the band behind it. You won't regret seeing it!

On February 16th I brought my sons and a family friend to see American Idiot at the Tilles Center.....and once again I was happily dancing and singing in my seat. I had been to the Broadway show at the Saint James theater a month after it had originally come out and did not anticipate the Tilles Center show to be as good. Wow, was I happily surprised! Minus covering my youngest sons eyes for 2 scenes, which I had expected to do having already seen the show, it was thoroughly enjoyable. I have been a Green Day fan since the very early 90's and I think that the play brings the music and the story that Billie Joe wrote to a whole new level of genius that the world gets to enjoy. And of course, the actors were extraordinary. Every song and dance were perfection. Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had tickets for front row seats only to find when we arrived that the seats were removed in order to extend the stage at the request of the shows crew. Instead of the front row seats ,we were seated in row s. The staff @ Tilles was very apologetic about the seats but what can you say about poor sound system and even worse singing! The palace theatre is a huge, beautiful Art Deco space built in the 1930's with wonderfully comfortable seats and perfect sight lines. The touring cast of American idiot was outrageously talented and committed to pulling off a broadway production! The band created a concert worthy performance of Green days American idiot! Can't say much for the audience who sat on their butts looking bored while these young actors gave everything they had! Truly, get a life people and act more appreciative! It was a rock concert for heavens sake

An unforgettable performance by a very talented cast of young and young at heart dancers and singers. Sloppy storyline , sloppy performers, sloppy sloppy sloppy. What a yawn. The music was just ok. Best part of the show was at the end when the performers strummed guitars on stage together..that's about it. The important messages were barely conveyed in a contrite and half assed manner. The music was very good but loud and made it hard to hear the performers at times. There were also technical issues with microphones going in and out during the performance. American Idiot was more than I expected. The band was talented, the cast portrayed "real life" and could belt out a good one. Props/stage was perfect. Fantastic performance. The whole cast did a stellar job covering Green Day. Carson Higgins was an Epic St. Jimmy the only one who could have played it better is Billy Joe himself as he occasionally did in the original production. And I'm pretty sure it was Chelsea Turbin who played Heather in Bakersfield- her voice was pristine. Girls got some pipes! She needs to be cast as the lead female. Everyone was great but these two really stood out to both my wife and I. We drove 6 hours from Tahoe on a Tuesday to catch this and it was worth every second. WELL DONE CAST!!!

If you love Green Day's music you will thoroughly enjoy this show which includes songs from the American Idiot album, as well as a few of the band's more recent songs. The show was never dull and we never wanted it to end. How often can you say that about a play? Green Day has always been one of the best lyrical bands of the past 20 years and they're just getting better. With 20/20 hindsight it seems inevitable that their powerful and significant American Idiot album would evolve and be spread to a far greater audience who had probably heard of them but wrote them off as a typical screaming punk band. They are much more and now more people will know it. I expected this production to be really good but it was better than expected. Should play for years and become a significant touchstone that defined s time in our history from one of the greatest bands of all time.

The reviews have been pretty accurate for this show. If you LOVE Green Day's music, you will probably like this show. Other than that, it was kind of fun to see the kids put on their high energy dances and songs, but the plot was just absolutely pointless. I cringed a bit for the older folks who showed up for this show, because of the foul language and lack of a point. They showed up to see a Broadway show, and this really wasn't that. It was a bunch of Green Day songs, loosely tied together and sung and danced to by a young group of performers. There were a few times where the music really grabbed me and I enjoyed it, so overall, yes, I'd say it was fair. I wasn't miserable, but I certainly never felt like I was at a quality event. The real fans will like it. Others won't.

American Idiot is a very modern musical. Not much dialog but plenty of Green Day music. We loved it! But I could see how it might get mixed reviews. Very nice production. Though you'll miss Billy Joe Armstrong's voice and their hard beat at first, the young cast does a great job pulling it together. There were some folks in the audience which puzzled me as to why they were there, they did not look at all like they would dig it, and some did leave midway. Though not necessarily a through-the-roof show it was extremely enjoyable and had me relistening to GD when I got home.

The musical's success is based on the power of the Green Day songs. The songs, however, are knit together into an interesting three part story. The sets were imaginative and the performance was Very entertaining. The voices were usually quite strong. The sound quality in the Adler Theatre was solid, no real flaws.

My expectations were too high. I had just gone to Green Day in concert not to long before this show and was blown away. I felt at times that the male vocalists were singing their best. I felt that the female vocalists really stole the show. The musical had a good story line that I think that I could easily relate to as a 30 something, but felt that there should be more. I would recommend it to any Green Day fan but make sure they know it isn't Green Day so don't expect a Green Day show. I would recommend it to a Rock Musical fan but warn them that it is a bit of short show.

The music was incredible! The story not so much. Characters on the couch smoking a bong throughout the production got old. The choreographed heroine tube ballet was a bit much. The couple in bed grinding like rabbits could have been toned down. We got the point. Those things took away from the great performers and musicians. They are so talented.

The show was awesome! I was amazed to see so many 50+ year old people there.

Music, singing, and dancing were great. Did not like or understand the "story". Very negative, without hope.

I normally don't write reviews, but wanted to warn parents about bringing anyone under the age of 17 to this show. There is a lot of profanity and sexual content. I made the mistake of bringing my 13 year old son to this show, and the content was not appropriate for someone his age. We left after 45 minutes, and I saw a few other families with young teens leave before we did. I love Green Day, and would recommend it to any ADULT Green Day fan.

It was soooo worth eating Ramen for a month to save for the tickets!!!!! The set design was perfect! So fitting for the show! I did have a bit of trouble hearing the lyrics clearly and a couple people were almost drowned out the instruments- but since I know the words by heart, I could fill in the blanks :-) I believe not hearing the lyrics clearly was more of a problem with the vocalist's pitch being same as some of the insturments rather than the venue equipment.

I was sad to see that the amazing show ended. It was breathtaking. I loved it from start to finish. It was put together wonderfully and I would/ can't wait to see it again!

Loud, profane, tons of attitude, and a total lack of respect for middle of the road values. It was exactly what I had hoped for. The singing and backup musicians were excellent. The story written to support the songs was believable and had continuity. A very intense 90 minutes. They put the throttle down and it really didn't let up. The dancing was also quite good. The songs that weren't on the album also fit. The encore was the Green Day ballad Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) with the entire cast playing guitars.

Very disappointed in the performance. Foul language was unnecessary. Sexual content was overdone. Promotion of drug use was offensive. The duration of the play was very short and if an intermission was inserted, I would have departed the theatre. The music director being positioned on stage was a distraction.

With a backdrop of TV screens symbolizing our inundation of media, this play juxtaposes the daily muck of young people just trying to figure out who they are with the pressures of a world gone mad and going to war. There are consequences in life to the choices we make: to having sex, using drugs, losing life and limb serving in the military and the risky choice to become an artist. I have such a greater appreciation for the album now. The live music being played on stage was particularly enjoyable.
