Tesla

Tesla Concert Schedule and TourNearly 30 years after their debut album, long-haired hard rockers Tesla are still bringing the goods to their legendary live shows.  Taking the stage with an energy that belies their veteran status, Tesla thrilled fans on their Lazy Days, Crazy Nights tour in 2013, performing marathon sets of hits like "Love Song" and "What You Give." With a highly anticipated new album in the works for 2014, Tesla is well-oiled and ready to deliver another electric round of performances on the road.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Formed in Sacramento in the early '80s, Tesla spent several years trying to appeal to record labels with a poppy sound before a sage piece of advice from a Geffen exec led them to return to their roots in hard rock.

My first time at the Criterion and it was a pleasure. It is stand up only if they do not sell enough tickets to open the upstairs balcony, which has bleacher seats. They don't have any food but they have beer and mixed drinks. It was a good atmosphere an a really good performance.

Great show as always! They have some many great songs you always get disappointed when they don't play one of your favorites but that's the way it goes. They did play a couple of songs I didn't expect (Paradise and Rock Me To The Top) which was really cool. If you've never seen them live, you are missing out. I would like to see a little higher quality warm up band. That's one thing they've always lacked.

Tesla always puts on a great show, and this was no exception. Of all the bands I've seen live (Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Billy Joel, Kid Rock, etc...), Tesla sounds the best. And what's great is, unlike other acts, their shows are always unique. The set list changes from show to show, tour to tour. And not by a small amount. I mean, they pull out hidden gems every year. Sure, they'll do the hits & some new material. But they also pull out a lot of classic stuff from their older albums that they haven't played in years. It's great for the fans. If you get a chance to see Tesla, do it. You won't be disappointed. This show, like their others, was simply fantastic.

That concert rocked. He has an amazing voice. Had fantastic seats. The only disappointment was the concert was too short. Started about 8:50 and was over by 10:20. I'm use to seeing concerts where the headline band plays for 2 hours.

My wife and I went to the show Saturday night and Tesla sounded as good as they did back in the eighties. The night flowed smoothly and Jeff sang right on for every song. Ya know it isn't fair, Jeff still looks like he did 20 years ago. I now look like my dad and he still looks the same. Overall Tesla is always a great band to see and a great deal for the ticket price and the new album is great. They played "Breakin Free" off the new album which I was really hoping they would. The crowd was absolutely going crazy and a couple of times the crowd was screaming so loud I couldn't hear the band.

From start to finish, Tesla rocked the house. Amazing guitars, drums and vocals. They still have it after 23 years. They kept you on your feet throughout the show. Highly recommend to anyone who has never seen Tesla to see them. To diehards, continue the support for tesla to keep rockin on. Over all, the show was well worth every cent.

I was disappointed that Tesla didn't play a lot of their older songs. In particular the song 'It's not what you got but what you give" I was also surprised at how few people attended the concert. I am from Toledo Ohio and travelled two hours to get to the venue. I am wondering if they did not get much preshow publicity for this event. Overall though, I did enjoy the concert and I am certain I will buy a copy of their new CD.

The sound system did not sound right. I think Jeffs mike was the problem, it sounded like the guitars were drowning him out for the most part of the show.

I have been going to see Tesla since the late 80's...in their hometown ( in bars) and here in the Detroit area since I moved back here in 1995. These guys are all top notch musicians that write meaningful music...AND ROCK OUR ASSES OFF!!!!! It was non-stop metal heaven for almost 2 hours, with the crown on their feet the whole time. DTE ( Pine Knob for us purists) is still the best outdoor venue to see a concert.

Jeff Keith's vocals are as powerful as ever, and our guitar boy's, well they speak for themselves, and lets not forget the backbone of the band Troy Luccketa, beatin' the crap out of them drums!!

Tesla has always been, and remains to this day a band that gives 110% at every show. I have seen them multiple times over their career and have never walked away disappointed. Jeff Keith is an engaging frontman who knows how to work the crowd. Frank Hannon has always been a guitar virtuoso and his phenomenal skill is apparent at every show. Brian, Dave and Troy work in sync with Jeff and Frank and this makes for a tight, extremely professional and enjoyable concert. From their newest songs to the tried and true favorites, Tesla continues to entertain and satisfy crowds 30 years after their debut.

Opening bands were also very good, glad to meet after their set.

Great band at a historic venue in Fort Wayne Indiana. I love seeing bands playing live in smaller, more intimate venues. Add the historic nature of the Embassy Theatre, and you have a win/win combo! Tesla has been rockin' it for over 30 years now ... These blue collared rockers hail from Sacramento and are aptly named after electrical inventor Nikola Tesla ... Featuring vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarists Frank Hannon and Dave Rude, bassist Brian Wheat and drummer Troy Luccketta, Tesla was primed and ready for its annual hometown show at Thunder Valley ... which is an annual event .... and they still kick ass !

I was so happy Tesla finally came back to Detroit as headliners. Tuesday night's show was one of their best ever. Such a professionally done show-Jeff Keith still has an amazing voice. Frank Hannon is phenomenal on guitar. Dave Rude fits in so well with the band. Brian Wheat on bass and then piano during "Paradise" is always fabulous. And Troy Luccketta on drums is the best. As a true Tesla fan of almost 30 years, I always want to hear the newer songs. I did get to hear "MP3" and "Save That Goodness", but wish they were able to play more deeper cuts. But I understand they have to play the hits for everyone else. Can't wait for Tesla to come back again. I'll be there for sure!

Main billing was Def Leppard, but last three shows I've seen of theirs was with Tesla opening. Not a problem for me. I have loved Tesla since the 80's. Saw them first in '91 and IMHO their show is better now. They are more mature and, how to say this nicely, sober. Jeff's voice has changed a bit over the years but I've grown to love it. The band plays the music spot on like the recordings. All are fantastic performers. I'd see them again in a heartbeat. If you get the chance to see them run, don't walk, you won't regret it! Tesla put on a great show at the Talking Stick resort Showroom. The band sounds just as distinctive as they did in 1990 when I first heard them. They began with some of their newish stuff, loved the track from Reel to Reel, transitioned to an acoustic set (love, love, love 5 man acoustical jam) and then topped off the set with fan favorites from the 90s. The sound mix was well done. Guitars and voices were well balanced for the venue. Thank you, Tesla for continuing to tour after all these years.

Tesla played at the Eastside Cannery Casino, which I had never heard of. Was not impressed with the casino itself, but the venue upstairs was quaint and very nice. Maybe 1,000-1,500 seats for concerts and small boxing events. Very relaxing setting, easy to get drinks as well. But enough about that! My second Tesla show on their Simplicity Tour. Played a couple of new songs off of the new album and a ton of fan favorites...I saw them in Pleasanton, closer to home, and they played a couple more new songs from the new album. Fans should definitely buy the new album! I would rank it up there in their top 3 albums, easily!! Once fans get into this album, they will be singing along like I was!! Can't wait to see them again in 2015!! Thanks again to my SacTown boys, TESLA!!!

Stormy night under jet black skies, Tesla pulled into town. Thunder rolled and lightning bolts came crashing to the ground! The lyrics to Modern Day Cowboy fit perfectly for their concert at the Cleveland House of Blues last night. A huge thunderstorm rolled its way through downtown Cleveland shortly before Tesla took the stage. They then came in and stormed through an incredible set! It s hard to believe that Tesla has been around for 27+ years as Jeff Keith pointed out during their show last night. Touring in support of their newest CD, Simplicity, it clear there s still plenty left in the tank for these guys. Jeff Keith has one of the most unique voices in rock. While the years have seen his voice altered a bit, and they clearly tune their instruments down quite a bit on a few songs to help him out (most notably Edison s Medicine), his voice is as strong as ever. Nobody saunters around a stage the way Keith does. It s entertaining in its own right. Add the rest of the band, highlighted by one of the most under-rated guitarists, Frank Hannon, and you ve got one of the most entertaining bands you ll ever see. They may have come out in the midst of the 80 s hard rock scene, but they re hardly a hair band. Their songs have always been straight forward rock and roll with substance. No glitz or glamour, just straight up rock that will kick you in the ass. Their authenticity has been the calling card of the band and clearly separated from many of the bands from that era. And, luckily for their fans, they show no signs of slowing down. I ve seen Tesla a bunch of times since the early \u201890 s and this show was as good as any I ve been to. The show started with the slower (but still heavy) MP3 , the opening track of their new CD, and it didn t take them long to settle in. They blazed through a 16-song, 90-minute set highlighting their hits, along with four of their new songs. While I like the new CD, hearing the songs live gives them a whole new depth and passion. The best of the new songs by far is So Divine . It just has the classic Tesla sound and comes off live very well. Other highlights, as always, are Love Song (I can watch them play this over and over. It never gets old) and Modern Day Cowboy . The only complaint I had (and a small one) was that they didn t include any songs from Into The Now which I think is one of their best CD s. Back to the 27+ years, that makes them eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I haven t heard their name in any discussions as far as who should be in the Rock Hall, but I m going to start the argument. There are plenty of bands that haven t made it in yet that clearly deserve to be (see www.rocksnubs.com) and I m adding Tesla to that list. Should they go in before some of these others? Not necessarily, but they do deserve to be in there at some point. Let s make it happen!

Tesla at Hampton Beach is an annual event that shouldn't be missed! Always a great time and the band totally appreciates their fans! They hang around after the show and sign autographs and take pictures ! Already can't wait for next summer

Tesla played an amazing show in Biloxi this past weekend. They played all the old classics that we wanted to hear and threw in a few new ones to hopefully sell some newer cds.

Tesla is so awsome. I took my 17 year old son to the show. I raised him on 80's music. We both are huge Tesla fans. We saw them at the Hard Rock last year. I didn't think they could get any better but they did. We were on the floor almost to the stage. My feet were killing me the next day but it was worth it. We got some great pics and te band was almost right in our faces. I cant wait to see them next year.

Wow, after Ft. Wayne, IN suffered power outages from a night of storms on 6/29/12, Tesla came to Piere's on 6/30/12 and electrified the Club! Their show was incredible! If you are close to a venue where Tesla is playing, go see them for a fantastic show! You will enjoy!

You could tell he was in some pain with his shoulder. A good show but not their best. I have seen Tesla 5 times I would have to say the other 4 shows blew away this one.

I saw Tesla in Tampa in 2005 when they opened for Def Leppard. They toned down a bit but still give a good rock concert. House of Blues did a great job with the organization and it was an awesome time in a small venue. Thanks, Jeff, Brian, Frank, and the guys. I hope I see you again!

Jeff, Frank and the band rocked acoustically! What a fabulous show in a smaller venue that allowed you to be up real close with the band. The sound was altogether phenomenal. Can't wait to see them again.

Ticketmaster fees SUCK !!! Was pretty sure when I found this show online, there wasn't anything listed about it being acoustic -- but then again, I can be an idiot sometimes..... Tesla is a VERY talented group, and I would go see them again, if they used the full on electrical show. Was kinda pissed that staff picked up our jackets and returned our car keys, but said they had no jackets..... sounds fishy to me...

I've seen Tesla at least 6 or 7 times over the last 10 years. I've always been very impressed with how great the guys sound. The band is always tight. JK always sounds great. This show was no different at all! Sitting in the third row, center stage, seeing an all acoustic show from these guys was awesome. Unfortunately, the set list in my opinion was very, very weak. There are some songs that when you think of hearing Tesla acoustic just make sense.....like Little Suzi, Gettin' Better, The Way It Is, Song and Emotion, A Lot to Lose, etc. Didn't get to hear any of those songs. As always, I enjoyed seeing the band, just wish that we had gotten to hear some of those other great songs.

First let me say I may be a bit biased as these gentlemen are acquaintances of mine, and guitarist Dave Rude is a friend. That said, I have to say that this show was one of my fave's so far this year. When Tesla gets together for a hometown gig they pull out all the stops and the fans love it! The energy was so positive and celebratory to have the guys "home", you just can't go wrong with an atmosphere like that! It was a nice evening for a show, not too hot and no noticeable stench from the nearby landfill like there has been on occasion. Thunder Valley staff and crew are always professional, yet friendly. I hope they get the permanent outdoor venue built soon; the only complaint I have about the venue is the very cramped, very uncomfortable seating on plastic folding chairs. Fortunately I didn't spend much time (or any time for that matter) sitting down. Thanks to everyone who made this show a night to remember! The band, the crew, the radio station staff, and mostly to my friends! It's not what you've got - it's What You Give!
