Our family of 5 went to see this in Chicago. Kids ages 25, 22, and 18. We were thoroughly entertained, enjoyed the music and most of all, loved the message. Would definitely recommend it.

The show needs to be tightened up. A disappointing beginning to the first act. It needs more fun/exciting dialog and music. It was slow and ponderous. Celina Carvajal (Nicola) was the weakest of all the characters. Annaleigh Ashford (Lauren) was strong with acting and singing. She should have another song somewher in the show. StarkSands and Billy Porter were good and will get stronger as the show has more performances. All the actors needed to miked better for sound, especially for the soft dialog and songs. The "Angels" were really good and fun to weatch. They were totally in the show much to the audiences delight. All in all this has the potential to be a darned good show with a lot of laughs and good music. It would be interesting to see it when it is on Broadway and see if any changes were made.

Went to see Kinky Boots on the first Preview night & I have to say, "WOW!!" Not only are all the cast members incredible but the music is just fantastic! (Of course, music & lyrics were written by none other than Cyndi Lauper)! Totally loved it! Anyone who is just thinking about seeing it, just do it! Go & you will see that you will not be disappointed!

This is a fun play but since it was a Cyndi Lauper/Harvey FIerstein production I expected it to be more amazing than it was. I did enjoy the drag queens.. they were dressed fabulously!! The singing wasn't the best I've seen and at times the songs were too long. The plot of the play was great and had a good message. Overall I would recommend it. (Our seats were in the balcony.... I don't recommend them)

KINKY BOOTS was incredible!! So good I am going back with someone who has not seen it yet. CYNDI LAUPER'S score was sooo good she really knows what she is doing. Hope she does more scores for plays in the future because the stage was alive. Billy Porter was remarkable. His voice, he opened his mouth and BAM! The story itself was very inspiring. Good for people of all ages, cultures ect.

Yes, Children. Line up! Get your tickets early for the Broadway production of Kinky Boots in the Spring (March 2013). They have been tweaking this thing everyday for five weeks in Chicago. I saw it Saturday night (Nov 3) and let me tell you, these kids are on fire. It s Billy Elliot meets Dreamgirls, they go see La Cage and have a baby! And she is a fierce and beautiful child. My friend Kevin is amazing as a Kinky Boots Angel. Very cool featured spots. Congrats to Kevin and the very gifted cast on their sensational work! Next stop Tony Awards. You all deserve good.

This show has a great cast, some of the brightest and most beautiful costumes and really sweet and powerful songs (written by Cyndi Lauper!). It's great for theatre goers of all ages. Billy Porter, Stark Sands and Annaleigh Ashford are worth the price of admission and then some. I hope this show kills on Broadway. It got a huge standing O the night I was there. I loved it!

Fantastic show! Fantastic performances! Fantastic costumes for the " girls" And of coarse the boots! Mr. Ghee and Miss Engen were....... FANTASTIC! Only think, what was ruining the show was the theatre's AC, so so cold and air blowing right at us. The bathroom situation is always rediculous!

Chicago touring production of Kinky Boots was phenomenal! Their were no weak heals! Everyone of them was tremendously talented! Lola/Simon and her runway kick line ...Wow! Loved them. Nice touch with Young Charlie in Red boots in the curtain call finale! Young Simon adorable, red heels - cutest. Amazing, a production not to be missed. Orchestra J seats.

Excellent show! The only surprising thing was how much stronger the Lola character voice was over the Charlie character. When Lola performed the second solo (nursing home setting), was reminiscent of Dream Girls and the Jennifer Holiday solo.

This was the 2nd time for me seeing Kinky Boots and it was just as good as the first time, if not even better. I took my daughter and granddaughter to this as well and they were entranced from the very beginning and even more so when Simon and the drag queens came on the stage If you haven't seen this amazing production it has to be on your bucket list. Unforgettable!!!!!!!! I also loved this as there is a story line, plot, and even more so a life lesson for all......

This was one of the most highly energetic, live musical theater experiences we have ever had. The music, the book, the performers - all were top quality. "J" who played Lola was truly outstanding. It amazing he had only one prior musical theater credit. His voice was just outstanding and his presence dynamic. After we waited so long to see "Kinky Boots", this traveling company production was beyond our expectations. It was most deserving of its standing ovation.

That was really the way to describe it - a lot of fun. I saw the movie two days after the play, and the movie was not good at all in comparison. Don't watch it if you are going to see the play. Different music in each. My wife and I laughed out loud many times, and so did the teenager with his parents next to me. I am not a fan of serious musicals, which this was not. Toe tapping, and a true standing ovation at the end. Go see it. Really loved it.

This was a terrific show well worthy of the Best Musical Tony in 2013. All elements of the production were outstanding. Despite the show's title, it really is a family friendly musical with a positive message. Conservative critics who were quick to criticize the musical before seeing it would actually embrace the message of hard work makes success and treating all people fairly is the morally right thing to do. The one aspect of the experience I did not enjoy was the selling of concessions in the house. Since when did a theatre become a ballpark? Before the show and at the intermission we had people going through the house hawking drinks and candy. C'mon folks let's have a little bit of decorum. Special recognition should go to J. Harrison Ghee, Adam Kaplan and Tiffany Engen for their phenomenal work.

I am so glad I finally got a chance to see this play. Not what I expected in a good way. As a teacher i deal with bullying and judging of others on a daily basis. This play shed a new light on these issues. The music was great but this cast was awesome! I recommend seeing this play! You won't be disappointed!

This show is spectacular! Music, staging, story line, costumes, everything! I highly recommend it! I saw it in New York and was thrilled it was coming to Chicago. The cast was stellar, except for the role of Charlie. His singing was quite off. Not sure if he was sick, but it was certainly not up to the caliber of this show or other Broadway in Chicago shows. That was a disappointment. Regardless, the show as a whole is fabulous which is why I still gave it a 5 star rating!!

My daughter and I attended this play not knowing anything about it. What a wonderful surprise. All of the actors and actresses we outstanding and very talented. The theme of the play was so relative at this time. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope they have it come back to Chicago so I can take the rest of my family. LOVED IT!!!

Absolutely amazing! The cast is incredible and the actor who played the main character, Lola, had one of the best voices I have ever heard. His performance was breathtaking. The plot of the story had me laughing, and in tears at times with an important message of accepting others as they are.

We saw Kinky Boots while we were in downtown Chicago, September 1, 2016 and loved it! Lola stole the show! We didn't think the lead actor cast to play Charlie was the same level of excellence as the rest of the cast. Maybe he was having an off night? But we would see it again in a heart beat!

The singing and dancing was fabulous. There are a few scenes that are just amazing - the assembly line, air gun... Lola's voice was amazing!

This was one of the most enjoyable live performances we've seen an many years. Harrison Ghee was absolutely amazing and engaging in his lead role. We were engaged from the very start to the very end. Loved this show and have been recommending it to everyone.

A great story with terrific music. Loved the characters and the actors/singers who played them. For a matinee, it was a nice treat downtown, light and lively. Tons of fun.

WOW! We've seen a lot of theater events in Chicago but Kinky Boots might just be the best ever! Great story line and absolutely top notch singing, dancing, and acting. I didn't want it to end. I'm trying to spread the word .... see it before it's finished in Chicago!

When a tear comes to my eye, I know that I've been touched! Before seeing Kinky Boots, I thought this was a musical I didn't have to add to my list, but I'm so glad I went! A very well developed story from beginning to end, with such an important message. All very talented professionals, with great singing and dancing. Lola was fabulous! Charlie, Don, Patty and the rest of the cast were wonderful as well. And I was so amazed when I learned that the Angels were actually played by men. Although I left the theater unable to hum any of the tunes, it was most certainly worth seeing. I would definitely recommend this feel-good play! Bravo to Harvey, Cyndi and the whole Kinky Boots production!

I took my sister who was in town for a visit. We both loved it. Cyndi Lauper's music was fantastic. The set was perfect, the story line a lesson we all need to learn, and the actors shined throughout the performance. I have raved about it to everyone.

The musical based on a book and movie of the same title is good entertainment. My wife and I went to a Wednesday matinee, and at 70 years old I was one of the youngest people in the audience. I guess not too many working people make it to Wednesday matinees. The cast was strong, had good voices, and performed very well. The story is about a shoe company that no longer was making shoes that were in demand, and rather than go out of business, decided to make outrageous boots for transvestites. The music is entertaining, but you don't go out humming any of the tunes. I think the best song was "Not my father's son".

What a great show!!! I laughed, I clapped, I sang along!!! My friend told me that this was her favorite show that she had ever seen-- so of course I had to see it! It was Amazing! How anyone can dance in those boots is beyond me -- I can't even walk in heels! Crazy! What a great message too -- just accept everyone for who they are! Can we make the whole world understand this somehow???

The cast and set design is great. Songs good but not too memorable. Very enjoyable show and worth the money. The last number is very uplifting and fun. I had some difficulty making out all the lyrics. Took the cd out of the library and enjoyed hearing what I missed. I thought it was me but others had a similar problem.

Entertaining but not as amazing as I expected given the reviews. The music is good but doesn't jive with the story. Also, it takes place in England but no one had a British accent, which would have been fine if every time they wanted to say $hit they didn't pronounce it shy-t.

High energy and brilliant comedy combined with the music & score by Cindy Lauper kept all of us in the theatre glued to the stage! This play was fabulous! The actors (especially the two leads) were perfect for their roles. Music and songs were entertaining and the underlying theme is powerful. Loved every minute of it! Would see it again!

My friend saw Kinky Boots in New York and wanted to introduce it to me. I love the theatre and am generally open to seeing anything especially if my friend spoke so highly of it. I was blown away. It is a wonderful, fun and colorful musical that spreads a message of love and acceptance.
