Amon Amarth

As a Swedish death metal band that mainly pens and performs songs about Viking history and lore, it makes absolute sense that their name is in the fictional language of Sindarin (created by J. R. R. Tolkien) and translates into “Mount Doom”—the volcano in Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth.

Metalrulz
Starting off this show was Lazarus A.D., playing songs from their first CD "The Onslaught" and showing off their thrash metal skills including Dan Gapen and Alex Lackner's guitar work. Skeletonwitch came on next and continued the assault on the audience with their brand of thrash metal and got the mosh pit going in short order. Goatwhore was next and teased the crowd with the song "Apocalyptic Havoc" from their soon to be released CD "Carving out the Eyes of God" and played a good mix of songs from their last three CD's. Amon Amarth came to kick ass in their first ever appearance at The NorVa and they started with "Twilight of the Thunder God" and played a number of songs popular with the crowd. Johan Soderberg and Olavi Mikkonen traded off playing killer riffs while Johan Hegg belted out the songs.
