Testament

Unlike other '80s metal bands, Testament’s fan base hasn't diminished with the accumulation of years. In fact, when Testament dropped "Dark Roots of Evil" in 2012, the disc entered the Billboard 200 at No. 12, the highest chart position the band has seen in its career. As every ticket holder in the metal underground knows, Testament concerts are built on furious riffs and aggressive harmonies.

I had never been to the Recher theatre in Towson and was unsure of how the concert was going to turn out. It was the smallest venue I had ever been too, yet one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It was like you were right there with the band. To be able to be literally 3 feet away from alex skolnik was just rediculous and the opening bands Lazerus ad and unearth were phenominal. The sound quality was great, the crowd was into it. Hands down, one of the sickest concerts I've ever seen.

I've been a fan since 1990, but have never seen them live. Wow, well worth the wait! Although now I'm kicking myself for not seeing them sooner. Unearth and Lazarus AD opened for them. Both opening bands were good, but I was a lot more partial to Unearth. I was afraid Unearth would be hard to top, but as soon as Testament hit the stage I was in complete awe and it took me right back to the early 90's... I'm 34 now, but I felt like a 14 year old again. Wish I had a DVD of the performance so I could watch it over and over again... as good/if not better live as they are in the studio. Flawless, precise, intense!!!

For those if you that have followed this band and even those that haven't. These guys hadn't put on a substantial tour in the US in years. I got to see them in St. Louis and I was blown away. If I didn't have to work I would have went to Chicago and saw them two days later. They were that good. If these guys are coming around your area go see them. Especially if you like bands like Metallica, Megdeth, Slayer, etc. These guys are right there with the legnds of metal.

Great to see 4/5's of the original lineup back together. The band was spot on with their sound and performance. From Alex's intricate solos to Eric's smashing rhythms to Chuck's growling vocals, it was vintage Testament. Great mix of songs from the new album as well as their catalog.

Testament has not lost a step... I have see them 3 times now dating back to the late 80's. Chuck Billy's voice has actually gotten much better with age unlike many lead men of that era, This is a must see band. New CD is one of the best metal albums of the 2000's

All the members of the band have incredible talent, as made evident by the solos they performed. The drummer started Hot For Teacher (Van Halen) then dove into something original, the lead guitar started Eruption (Van Halen) then dove into something original, and the bass player would give Geddy Lee a run for his money. One complaint was vocals were quiet compared to the rest of the members so I was straining to hear them.

Meeting the bands at the meet & greet before the show was an incredible moment in my life. I was completely awestruck & had to struggle to maintain my composure & not be a complete blubbering idiot. All members of both of the bands were super nice dudes, very polite, very personable & enjoyable to just have a general conversation with. As for the show,it was honestly probably the best of any other I've been to,having seen Exodus previously on three other ocassions. Exodus is my favorite thrash bands but I have to give it up to Testament, they were the highlight. Between their light show, killer smoke machines & playing all three of their first iconic albums in their entirety,as well as two or three bonus songs,it was a very exhilarating night for me personal. I must also give much credit to the new guys to the metal scene in support of Exodus & Testament,Shattered Sun. Their stage show had a lot of energy & their songs were relentlessly heavy, yet melodic,it was a good mix & overall, from the moment I arrived in town & having randomly ran into Tom Hunting a couple hours earlier, standing outside by himself looking at the flyers on the outside of the venue,it was an unforgettable experience. Can't wait to throw down with these two thrash giants again!!! \\m/(>_<)\\m/

Great show by experienced metal acts, Carcass was tight they played a longer set than they do on the tour dates with Slayer, so plenty of their classics. Maybe some people in the audience were not very familiar with their material, but you got into and got caught in their face-melting riffs and melodic passages, yes, is intense and it is heavy, but done right! Testament is a guarantee of metal quality, I always get mesmerized by Chuck Billy's mede-for-metal voice and imposing presence on stage, and you'll get a real guitar lesson with Alex Sckolnik and Eric Peterson, one of those guitar-duos you have to hear if you are a metal fan! I really appreciate Carcass and Testament taking the time from their tour with Slayer for a short detour through Atlanta. It was the perfect metal infused Sunday!

Full disclosure: I am a long-time Testament fan, never heard Overkill or Flotsam & Jetsam. A few weeks before the concert, I gave 4ARM's single Raise a Fist a listen and was blown away. I bought their latest album and was instantly a fan. They are an old-school style thrash band from Australia that sound like a perfect mix of Testament and Slayer. Being the first opener and unknown in the States, there weren't that many people at the venue at their 6:45 call time. But they rocked the house with impressive technical proficiency and a great brutal/melodic sound. After that, F&J was just okay. The guitar was decent but the lead singer's voice was just not able to handle the material. Overkill had the crowd going, and again the guitar was good, but I didn't care for the Anthrax-like vocals and goofy lyrics. Needless to say both bands did not convert me. Testament was in top form- Chuck with his enhanced half-mike stand and powerful vocals, Eric as good as ever with his rhythm/lead chores, and Hoglan easily able to handle the intense drumming of the Gathering-era songs. My position at the front-right allowed me to see Eric's guitar work up close, but unfortunately I was unable to fully see and hear Alex's amazing solo work until I switched positions near the end. It was great witnessing his take on the Gathering songs, as he was not part of the band during its recording, and those songs only made it back into the tour rotation in the last year or so. Normally a band with a 30-year history playing 4 songs from a new album is a bad thing. But Dark Roots of the Earth is so strong that the new songs were welcome and fit right in. My only complaint is the lack of songs from Low and no Disciples of the Watch, but I'm sure those will come back into rotation on subsequent tours.

This certainly wasn't the first time I had seen Testament but the fact that they were there with Exodus, which is another favorite band of mine was a bonus! I had VIP tickets and got to meet everyone except Alex Scholnik, who I understand was en route from a recording session in Manhattan. Anyway, I met everyone and they were all super nice guys! They were willing to sign all their names on anything we had brought. They weren't even elusive to any questions! I'm very glad I got to meet them, as it was one of the things on my bucket list. The show really rocked, and both bands tore down the house! I was right in front literally 5 feet from the stage! Thanks for the memories guys, it will always remain with me!

Amazing show, Amazing venue. Professional Staff. Expensive drinks though. Testament and Exodus both sound better than ever. Thrash is alive and well in 2015. The Paramount staff were extremely professional and certainly know how to deal with a metal crowd and mosh pit. The pit usually takes care of itself and they know that but just incase they were there and you knew you were always safe! I just cannot figure why they raised their beer price to $9????? A normal 12oz beer was $9 that night and that is a bit much. I have been to the Paramount before and it was never that high. Obviously I will make sure not to drink once I get in next time.

I hadn't heard anything from the opening band, 4Arm, but I really liked their stuff when they played. They remind me a lot of early Slayer. If you haven't checked them out, I highly suggest it. Flotsam and Jetsam was also fantastic. They played a bunch of really old stuff and they interacted with the crowd a lot, including taking requests. Amazing bunch of guys. Overkill blew the roof off the place, as was expected. I've seen them countless times over the past 2 decades and they've never had a bad set, in my opinion. I learned after the show from talking to one of their roadies that Bobby and D.D. had the flu. You never would have known it. Their set was awesome from start to finish and it was great to see them again. Testament was out-friggin-standing. The set list spanned their long history, with songs from nearly every album. I also purchased the Meet and Greet package, and if you're thinking about doing it, I can't recommend it highly enough. The VIP package was really worth it, getting to meet them for autographs and pics and some general chat before the show. The bag of extras we got included some outstanding merchandise which I plan to frame and put on the wall. My only complaint is that Testament didn't perform an encore. Other than that, this was one of the best overall line-ups and shows I've seen in my life.

Are you kidding me......Testament was nothing short of remarkable in Cincinnati this Wednesday night. Gene Hoglan looked like he was on vacation as he pounded out the most incredible display of percussion artistry I have ever seen, effortlessly driving the thunder behind the best Testament show I have ever seen. Chuck B.......forget about it.... he is just getting started folks, I don't remember him sounding any better. Skolnick, Peterson, Christian WHAT...it was sick, best show I have seen all year and I have been to many. They were ALL in from the beginning of the show visably happy to be sharing their time and art with the crowd. OVER-DELIVERED EXPECTATIONS! EPIC ! what a great combo of acts. 1st - 4arm. only caught half their act, but liked what i heard. 2nd - flotsam and jetsam. great to see these guys still out it. they played like a bar band, loose and fun. it was great. lot of people in the crowd wanted more, more older songs as well, but it seemed like a good mix to me. 3rd - overkill. they needed more time. 45-50 minutes seemed a little light for these old-schoolers. but they didn't mince words when it came time to thrash. 4th - testament. what can you say, 90 minutes of twin guitars and pounding bass/drums. skolnick may get most of the guitar credit, but peterson more than proves his worth. those two make testament more than just a thrash band, they give some artistic merit to the songs that a lot of trash bands are lacking. then there was chuck billy roaming and around stage throwing out a guttural growl or two or 50 with each song he sang. just awesome that these guys still have it. could've used a few less cornea-splitting strobe lights during testament. during overkill's set, there was some crackling coming through the speakers, but not as bad as blitz's low vocal mix. f&j's sound could've been turned up a bit as well, and they also had the same monitor noise as overkill. but otherwise the show was fantastic, and rather brisk for 3 titans and an up-and-comer. rest of the setlists: Overkill: Come and Get It, Rotten to the Core, Wrecking Crew, Bring Me the Night, Electric Rattlesnake, Infectious, Ironbound, Elimination, Fuck You (Cover of The Subhuman's song) Flotsam and Jetsam: Ugly Noise, Iron Tears, Escape from Within, Hammerhead, No Place for Disgrace, Motherfuckery 4arm: While I Lie Awake, Raise A Fist, The Oppressed, Submission For Liberty, Taken Down, Spent and Bled

Starting off the show was Lazarus A. D., who I had seen before as one of the openers for Amon Amarth. They played several songs off their first CD "The Onslaught" and got the crowd and the mosh pit going in short order with their brand of thrash metal. Most of the crowd was unfamiliar with Unearth, and while they played a solid set the crowd response was lukewarm. Testament came out and the crowd went absolutely insane! Playing a mix of songs from "The Formation of Damnation" and pulling crowd favorites from their previous 9 albums which showcased the guitar skills of Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson and the vocal skills of Chuck Billy. What amazed me is that this was their first headlining tour. This was the first time I had seen Testament live, and hope it is not the last!

Although I was mostly at the American Waste concert to watch some of my friends who were playing the gig, I stuck around and caught Testament's set. I've been to plenty of metal shows before, and this one was definitely in the upper echelon. i've been going to concerts for a very long time now and let me tell you they ain't like they used to be. mostly boaring guys up there just singing thier songs and thats about it. and even worse the sound SUCKS! always mufflled and not even near loud enough. so on that day when i went to see testament i was expecting the same thing boy was i wrong.it sounded so good i nearly crapped my pants it was'nt muffled it was'nt distorted just pure clean metal just how i like it. to top it all off there is no comparison to the voice of chuck bill simply amazing. and not to for get alex the guitar god and the rest of the guys made it the best and loudest show i've been to since 1989 thats rite folks 20 years it took to have my ears ring for two days after the show. job well done thanks so much testament i'll see you at the next show i'm sure to be there.

Played nearly all my favorites, loved the on-line voting for set-list. HOB is a good small venue to see a band (though drinks are EXPENSIVE!). Been a fan since New Order, wished I'd seen them sooner!

I walk in the door and the first thing that happens is I'm handed this awesome Court of the Dead pin from Sideshow Collectibles which is one of my favorite properties. Then I go upstairs and the court of the Dead creative team and the cosplayer playing the queen of the Dead is there and I get to take a picture. then I get to see carnifex which is strange for me because I'm a grumpy old man when it comes to metal but this group of youngsters has really captured what I used to love about death metal so now I'm an instant fan. Then I get to see Testament play which I've always wanted but never seem to find the time and it transported me back to my youth because they played so much classic stuff and Chuck Billy is such a personality and that band is so amazing. Definitely had a stellar time.

Another amazing show from Testament. HOB is fun venue. Mosh pit, crowd surfing, enough room to be on the side. Almost everywhere has a good view. Testament is one of my favorite bands and to have option to be right up front is amazing.

TestAment has been my favorite band for a really long time...ever since Metallica went post Black album. These guys are nothing short of amazing live. Somehow when everyone else is starting to show their age, these guys are actually getting stronger. Stronger, louder, cleaner sound. They are hands down the best thrash metal band out there, and their live show reaffirms it. The House of Blues SD is the perfect place for them as well. Feels TINY inside. The only band I know that still plays with the musical accuracy of TestAment is Tool. Their primary focus is obviously putting out great music, then having a great time second. What can I say...as many shows as I've seen, they absolutely floor me. Amazing show. If you even remotely like their music, go see them. You will be a fan by song 2. Their music is just made to be played live.

The venue is amazing. Food truck, local coffee, relaxing area, killer sound. But testament played too long. Prong and sepultura could have played couple more songs a piece.

This is one of the most amazing performances I've seen. Testament never ceases to amaze me with how precise they are in all facets of a live show. I don't know of a band that has been so consistently good live and for so long, then also still releasing amazing albums like Brotherhood on top of it all. Skolnick is what puts this band over the top and keeps it there. It almost makes you forgive the crazy glow stick/mic that Chuck Billy air-guitars on all night...almost.

This was a truly Amazing event! I purchased the VIP ticket for this show. I went mainly to see Overkill, but Testament rocked and Flotsam & Jetsam was an added Bonus! Of course no Overkill event would be complete without Eddie Trunk, and he did a wonderful introduction for the bands. Testament nailed every song from old to new with amazing precision! Overkill brought down the house with everything from The Electric Age to the more classic fare that everyone including myself sang along to word for word! Even DD Verni was sporting a new haircut which looked good! Old school Thrash Metal is alive and well thanks to pioneers such as Overkill and Testament! I hope they keep on decimating our ear drums for many years to come!

Two words: freaking brutal. Ticketmaster says I need to add more words, so how about super-freaking brutal? Testament came out of the gate at full speed and never let up. Chuck Billy, Alex Skolnick, Eric Peterson, Greg Christian and Gene Hoglan know how to keep an act on the boil. I'd say they're up there with Maiden for maintaining momentum. (By the way, Hoglan is a drumming machine--always a treat to see him live.)

4arm, Flotsam&Jetsam, and Overkill put on a great show with great sound mixing from the sound mixer. Testament wasn't as impressive due to the sound. The Best buy Theater is an awesome venue for any and all type of musical performances.

Unfortunately overkill did not play due to illness. However 4 Arm and Testament were absolutely incredible!! Flotsam n jetsam also played very good. I was really bummed about overkill but I was really impressed with 4 Arm. And the guys came out after their set and spoke with us and signed photos. Testament as always put on an incredible show!!!!

Testament is on a roll with their constant touring and promoting their new album. The Dark Roots Of Thrash tour will be unforgettable in all ways, and I'm so glad Testament brought an amazing line-up to support them. Every band member performed with such energy that in got the crowd alive and wild. Both guitarists performed brilliant solos and vocalist Chuck Billy never missed a beat. I loved his glow-in-the-dark microphone stand as well. What an experience!

Its incredible that these guys are still recording amazing music and performing amazing shows. They played for a solid hour and a half! Well worth the money. I have to admit I didn't know what to expect, since I started listening to Testament when I was 14, and am now in my 30's...but wow! They are incredible musicians and performers, full of energy and no gimmicks. Cannot wait to see them again.

TESTAMENT was excellent! Great show ,great crowd but I went to see OVERKILL. Apparently Bobby Blitz called in sick. Hopefully they will be back. TESTAMENT still blew me away. Its was my first time at this theater and I was very impressed. Its a great place to see a show. I highly recommend THE PARAMOUNT in Huntington NY!

The sound wasnt that great so my mind had to figure out the sound-to-noise ratio. Almost no guitars and vocals. Percussion and bass guitars were clear probably because the geniuses who set up the system go for rap crap. The energy and fans were definitely there. Camaraderie was definitely there among the thrashers. Was a good time regardless.
