Angie Stone has always been one of my favorites. This is my first time seeing her live and she did not disappoint. Angie has that veteran stage presence knowing how to keep her audience engaged as well as entertained. She was accompanied by a amazing band and very soulful back-up singers. I will definitely go see her again.

Thoroughly enjoyed Angie Stone's performance! I love that she covered some of her old hits along with the current. I prefer the intimacy of The Birchmere over the large impersonal arenas, which is why I'm a "frequent flyer"!

The show was great and I enjoyed all the performers. It was really nice seeing Chico DeBarge after what he's being through and he took the time to thank Gof for bringing through it all. Angie, had received new that her grandmother had passed away, but she still put on a great show with a broken heart. My man JOE did the his thing and put on a GREAT performance. It was a great date night with my man and Joe's know how to put you into the mood for love!

Tickets said 8:00 pm. Chico Debarge was already performing before 8:00 pm. Due to a death in the family, Angie Stone went in front of Joe, there seem to be some technical problems, along with emotional, but she gave a good performance.

I just want to say that I have seen Angie Stone perform several times and she has always been amazing! She was amazing this night despite the fact that she was late due to the fact that the airlines had lost her luggage and she was caught in our great NY traffic. Her band and her backup singers were also amazing as usual. My only gripe is with the venue, BB Kings. They took all the tables and chairs out of the Venue and made people stand the entire night so that they could pack more people than usual into the venue. The drink prices were outrageous!!! They charged $10.50 for a beer!!!!! The food was mediocre at best and the service was really bad. I suggest that if you are going to see a show there that you eat and drink somewhere else before you get to BB Kings, you will be a lot happier.

Poor Angie had a rough start. The show was delayed because as told her bags were lost at the airport, therefore she was performing in casual clothing. That however did nothing to stop her performance. Angie came out with energy and put on 1 hell of a show. I really enjoy her style of singing. Her voice is unique, soothing yet powerful. This was my first time seeing her perform but I would definitely love to see her again.

When I purchased my 4 tickets, I did not know that general admission was code for standing room only. That was an unpleasant surprise. Angie's performance was uneventful and therefore average. Angie Stone performed very well; however, the venue misrepresented itself. We purchased tickets expecting there to be seating. When we arrived it was standing room only. Angie Stone killed it. I only wish she had more stage time. She looked great, sounded great and her band and backup singers were the bomb.com. Bradd Marquis was the opeing act. I wasn't crazy about his performance he sang a bunch of songs written by other artists and didn't seem to have much original material and frankly sounded like a Las Vegas lounge singer. His band put on an equally lackluster performance. The keyboard player looked like he just crawled out of bed after his mother kicked him out the house for sitting around and smoking weed all day. He looked like he didn't want to be there. And what is up with these musicians going on stage in baseball caps, baggy jeans and sweats when people are paying $95 a ticket? I wish we could get back to the days of James Brown, when your band had to dress to impress and truly shine when they performed.

First of all Angie Stone's opening act was on too long! When Miss Stone hit the stage I was expecting some good Neo-Soul music. What I got was too much talking and very little singing. Mid show she introduced her Backup Singer's and they stole the show. In less than a minute they hit notes and sang better than Miss Stone had in over 30 minutes! Angie had no comeback for them? She didn't even try to top them? Because she couldn't!!! Bravo Backup Singers, You ladies were the stars of that show!

I thought the show was awful. I suppose the only constant is change. My point? Many years ago we had the privilege of watching a young(er) Ms. Stone perform in New Orleans. Perhaps she felt she had something to prove. She proved that she was worthy. At this recent show Miss Stone seemed to follow the new format for prominent female singers. Lots of smoozing with the audience. Very little singing. When she did sing it was brilliant. She is brilliant. Unfortunately she gone from performer to entertainer. Things change. Sadly.

Angie Stone still has "the Voice" that wows her audience with that down home R & B flavor. She really connects with her audience with her old and new music that makes you feel like she is a friend, singing about your life. She tells her story, your story, my story , thru her music in a way that is always so relatable. Want her to come back to DC more often!

Angie Stone was absolutely beautiful at the young age of 51. She was amazing on stage singing her old songs as well as the new songs on her new album. She went way back when she was Angie B, and had one of the ladies from the group come on stage and rap, from back in the day. She also invited Monifah on stage, and they both turned the show out. My friends and I enjoyed the show, again amazing performance, and I would see her in concert again.

I think the concert was good overall. It really helped that many of the audience members are true Angie Stone fans. At various points of the show, it appeared that Ms. Stone was tired/stressed. I loved Angie Stone's performance. Angie was great! Her vocals were a perfect compliment to what you'd expect if you're familiar with her recorded solo work. She connected well with the crowd and managed to sing mostly from her older work throwing in a couple from the latest release (which is excellent). There were stories of her past and how some of the ideas for songs came about. If you attended the show and knew nothing about her, you felt right at home when she left the stage 90 minutes later. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention her two ladies she has singing back-up singers. These two ladies can straight blow! Angie allows the girls to sing solo on a couple of occasions during the show, they tore the roof off the place. There is no way these two ladies shouldn't be signed by a major label. I was very impressed by both of them. My 2nd of about 25 shows I have tickets for so far this year; I'd definitely see her again!

I love the saxophone and these three gentleman Gerald Albright, Euge Groove, Richard Elliot were great. I took my 26 yr old daughter with me and she was telling me "Mom you get to excited, calm down". I love jazz and these tenor sax men were scorching hot!!!! Sad to say I did not feel that way about Angie Stone. I like her music and have several of her CD's, but I just did not get the same vibe from her performance. You could definitely feel the change of vibe in the entire theater. I felt like Angie should have opened for Gerald,Euge,Richard they would have brought the house to a roaring close.

My first time to the Terrace; a great place to see a show! Euge, Gerald and Richard were very impressive alone and as a group. They rotated through several combinations alone, pairs or as a group. If you love sax jazz, any one of these guys are impressive; all together ridiculous. Angie was great! Her vocals were a perfect compliment to what you'd expect if you're familiar with her recorded solo work. She connected well with the crowd and managed to sing mostly from her older work throwing in a couple from the latest release (which is excellent). I have seen Angie Stone a couple other times at festivals and loved her. She was supposed to be the headliner at this concert and she was horrible! Shortly after her first song she took her shoes off. She sang unfamiliar songs way tooooo long. The band overshadowed her singing and the backup singers sounded better than than she did. Myself along with several other people left before she completed her set. It was my friends birthday and I had to apologize for taking her to this event. The only reason I gave this event a 3 star rating was because of jazz players, Gerald Albright, Euge Grove and Richard Elliot. They were petty good!

We have the VIP package which included dinner. The meal was fantastic. Very good food, up to and including dessert. Our table was next to the restroom, which was undesirable but we were able to ignore that during dinner. Probably would have given it an extra star if not for that. The musical show was very good. I came to this show to hear Euge Groove and he delivered, along with Richard Elliot and Gerald Albright. Angie Stone was good except there was a little too much forced audience participation for my taste. I know she was trying to get us into the mood (it was a pre-Valentines Day show after all) but I came to be entertained, not to be the entertainment. Overall the evenings festivities were well put together.

Gerald Albright, Richard Elliott and Euge Groove, was off the Hook...They gave 100% I would go to any one of their concert again...It was Amazing...How ever Angie Stone never should have been included to perform with these Jazz greats..I would rate her, 1 out of 10, a (2-).....A very poor, sad, performance. Her hold time on stage did maybe, 4 or 5 songs, that lasted it seemed forever...giving the lead to the background singers, which by the way had amazing voices. Would only recommend to go see The Three Horn Tenors...As for Angie Sone, my first and last concert for her....Sorry, it is what it is!!!!

Loved Gerald, Euge and Richard. They really got the crowd into it. Absolutely awesome. I think they could have stuck to the Valentines theme and played a few more romantic songs. Other than that they were flawless. We were excited to get to hear Angie Stone. After listening to the first two songs, we wondered why. Just not very entertaining and and bad fit after Gerald, Euge, and Richard. Felt like a waste of money with her headlining. Very disappointed. Last and not least, the event said every woman would get a rose. Was very disappointed to find out you only got one if you eat dinner. This is out 3rd time here in 4 years and this had never happen before. We didn't have the cheap tickets, so I thought we should have gotten more for our money.

Karen Brown the opening local act was extremely entertaining and had very good stage present. She set the expectations for the show and then Dwele came on with a DJ and one guy who served as the Hype Man/Back-up Singer/Dancer. Then Dwele proceeded with a song here and there, sprinkled with jokes, "Mack Moves" etc. The Queen was royally disappointed as well as most of the folks that were on my row. Faith Evans was very professional and sound just like her recordings. That's a real singer. She performed a wide range of hits (up temple songs and ballads). Angie Stone was pretty good. I've seen here before and it was almost a repeat performance. She usually brings on other artist to help their careers. That's refreshing. Bottom line, Karen Brown and Faith Evans made the show enjoyable. .

I purchased these tickets 3-4 months ago, I was very exicited to see Robert Glasper. To my surprise, when Robert Glasper comes out he states they are only giving him a hour to perform. "Wait a second, and close the front door, What did u say Robert?" Yeah, I was pissed! I purchased tickets to see Robert Glasper, not Angie Stone. Robert Glasper name was the only name on my tickets. The only thing that saved the night is because Mr. Glasper came in the audience after he had finished performing and we took a picture together and he sat down and kicked with me for a few. That was great!

Angie was great, as usual. Venue seating awful. It took 15 mins for us to find two seats as many had reserved seats using their coats and the waitresses were no help. Once we found seating all the way in the back, it took 15 mins to get a waiter. Food was very good but service was bad. They should have ushers or reserved seating at this venue. The concert was very, very good, unfortunately the venue didn't do the artist justice. Oh, and the sounds system was making scratching noises during her last two songs.

All I can say is OMG she sang. Angie is off the chain and she keeps it real. I love u Angie and so glad that God has answered your prayers. When u let go and let God take over that wheel nothing but sunshine comes next. U ARE ONE AMAZING WOMAN AND ONE AWESOME SINGER. Your band those young men are so talenred and they sound awesome. Your background singers their voices are amazing and brought tears to your eyes voices from heaven. I have acid reflux also so i know its a pain in the butt. God stopped that devil tonight because that acid reflux did not win tonight Angie did and showed out. Angie much luv to you. ♡♡♡♡♡

Angie sang her old and new hits. She takes you back and then bring to today's best r&b. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. I almost forgot she started in the business showing the guys in rap how to rock the house. Thank you Ms. Stone. You did the damn thing.

I really enjoyed the show however, Angie announced that her voice had some medical issues but she had a back up plan and used her band and backup singers to save the day so that was great! Every woman needs a back up plan she mostly sang cover music by other artist paying homage to their passing and old school music but the only thing I was missing was hearing more of her music I think I heard about two songs that I recognized from her but all and all it was a nice show considering her voice was struggling but she gave it all she had and for that I appreciated her staying in the midst of it all and giving her fans a nice time.

I've been to the HT several times for both sitting and standing only shows. Once the artist hits the stage they give you what you came for but you can typically wait 30 mins+ past their scheduled time to start. That doesn't bother me if I'm sitting but if I'm standing I'm pissed because there is absolutely no where to sit. I can deal with all of that but what I can't seem to fig out is why in the hell the waiter service is so horrible, and hasn't improved in all of 2015. The food is always good, altho pricey but I know the prices so I'm prepared. Be rdy to loose it, snap, go off, growl, bark, curse and choke your waiter and all seem to do the same thing. Disappear, never bring u what u ask for, and this could b as simple as a small plate. So sad their table service has not improved. If there was a negative category, that's where their rating would be. Still not enough to stop me from going to a reasonably priced show for a 5-star artist you see up close and personal.

Angie is Angie and you can't say anything bad about her performance. It was my hope that her selection of songs were more rapid and energetic, so that audience would have been more involved. It was a really good show nevertheless!!!

Hi, I was thankful that we finally found a concert near home for Angie Stone. Though, we were set back by 1) Newark Symphony Hall and 2) the complete concert. Newark Symphony Hall did not honor our seats which were purchased with Ticketmaster in advance. Since the theatre was only half full, the venue decided to not open the balcony, which is where we purchased seats. We purchased these seats in the front row of the balcony so we could guarantee no one would be sitting in front of us. Newark Symphony Hall decided to fill us in with the seating on the 1st Flr and in the back. No. The concert was ok. Avery Sunshine and Lyfe Jennings did there thing. They were great and entertaining. On the otherhand Angie Stone and Bilal, were not. Angie Stone was the headliner and she played a lot of her older music. She was boring and unrelating. Bilal seemed like he was experimenting with music and was not engaging at all with the audience. I found myself yawning along with many other attendees. I am a fan of Angie Stone but her music selection was poor and the song "Take My Hand" was like 15 minutes. We didnt come to hear your backup singers sing unless she really 'brought the house down'. Clearly that was not the case. Angie Stone is a professional but maybe find out more about the demograhics of where you are performing. Perform songs that relate to the audience.

Were sizzling just like the heat . . . I would do it all over again. The only oops was the sound technical difficulties during Rahsaan's performance. Other than that they both delivered as I promised. Loved it!!! CoolMaMa7

The event came off as poorly planned. Angie Stone was double booked the she really didn't sing when she was on the stage. The should have had her come on before the opening act to get a decent show. Rahsaan was excellent as always.

I purchased the tickets for my daughter and her husband as an anniversary gift. I also purchased 2 more for my other daughter. They all said they really enjoyed the show. The weather cooperated and the seats were good. The only bomber was that Angie came on first even though they understood she had another engagement. This was understandable but this should have been worked out before the show was booked. I did appreciate your notifying us of this situation. Looking forward to more good shows.

Angie Stone was off the chain!!! I wish she had more time to entertain the DC crowd. The initial band, Black Alley, was extremely good. They kept the crowd excited with their brand of music. Rashaan Patterson, as always, gave 100%. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the Carter Baron.

Angie Stone was great for the amount of time she was onstage. I really wish she had stayed longer and done some of her old hits!!! Black Alley Band (local group) had better stage presence than Rahsaan Patterson. He either didn't know or care how to interact w/the audience. I guess it was too hot for him......That's the most excited I saw him get. Maybe if he had remembered it was the middle of July and not wear all black, that might have helped a little.....

I love Angie Stone and I'm crazy about Rahsaan Patterson. I will travel to see him perform. I brought along 2 good friends to introduce Rahsaan's music too. Angie Stone's performance was good; the sound system was fine. When it came for Rahsaan to perform the system was making all kinds of noises! The speakers were letting out a loud sound and the mike was squeeking! I was so upset! I want my money back so that I can use it to go see Rahsaan somewhere else!

The show was nice, but I guess because Ms. Stone had to leave to get to NY for another show, she really didn't give us a Angie Stone performance. She looked and sounded great, just not enough time. We enjoyed hearing her new single written by one of our DC Homegirls so that was really a treat for her to spotlight Ms. Y Crawley... LOVED that she kept it 100... BlackAlley always put in work and keeps the crowd grooving to their sound. Mr. Patterson was GREAT TOO! The heat wore us out, but with Mr. Patterson ending the show it was well worth the SWEAT!

This was the worst concert I've ever been to at the Carter Barron. Angie was good for the short time she was there, she came on first: was double booked and had to leave early... Rahsaan Patterson couldn't hold the show, people started leaving in the middle of his show. His show was boring; I left too. I think all that attended needed to get a refund or free concert tickets (A good concert)...."OMG; did I say the worst concert ever.:

This was a very nice event. I love the Carter Baron and frequent often. Every year they offer great shows at a reasonsble price and the sound is great. Angie Stone, Rahsaan Patterson and Black Alley all gave great performances. My only complaint and the reason I didn't give this event 5 stars is because Angie Stone was rushing to get to another show and I felt we didn't get a full set. However, the house DJ made up for the lapse in time and really got the audience up on their feet and dancing.

This was a good show. Nothing to write home about, but it was definitely worth seeing and the price was excellent. Angie had to cut it short due to another engagement in NYC, but she was apologetic and she stayed on stage as long as she could. She promoted her upcoming album and performed some of her classic favorites. Rahsaan Patterson performed just a well, in his own way. He did a host of songs from several of his albums. Overall, it was a nice show.
