Daryl Hall & John Oates

Daryl Hall & John Oates

Pop rock legends Hall & Oates blended R&B, soul, and new wave influences to fabulous effect in the '80s, resulting in some of the decade's most iconic and beloved songs. Oozing with originality and craftsmanship, No. 1 hits like \"Maneater\" and \"I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)\" sound as fresh today as they did 30 years ago, eliciting collective swoons from audiences at their 2013 live concerts. With an induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame scheduled in 2014, the boys are in peak form, treating audiences around the US to a string of highly anticipated concerts leading up to the April ceremony.

Took a friend to see the show for her 60th birthday. I have seen Hall & Oates perform on many, many occasions and have never been disappointed. She has been a fan for years and loved the show. The show was unbelievable! Hope to see them again when they return to a Connecticut venue. I can't say enough good things about the show. Daryl Hall's energy never fails to amaze me. I'm so glad Hall & Oates are still performing and hope they continue to perform for a long time to come. FABULOUS!!!

Saw Hall & Oates last year and that concert was much better. They seemed to be having sound difficulties this time around which (being in the nosebleed seats) made hearing any verbal explanations by either Hall or Oates near impossible to hear.

I allways and still like Hall and Oates songs on the radio, I was impressed with the way they play their musical instruments, Very Good, But they mix up the songs with different lerics, I would of like to listen to original songs instead of a remix, But if you like 70 music, They are very good and cant turn down.

It was obvious that the band had not done a sound check because the opening went bad when we could not hear Daryl s Guitar. Shortly after that he broke a string and had to scramble to replace it. The sound problem continued throughout the show I would love to see them again, (as I used to at the Back Fence NYC) as soon as they get the sound together.

I saw them at the Warner in Torrington whene they put on an excellent show back a few yrs.ago. This show does not compare. Up close & personal is great but everybody loves the energy this duo usually puts out so it would have been nice to see that towards the end of the show.. I also wished that they had played a little longer.

Hall and Oates put on a good show last night. Daryl obviously had issues with the mic setup and it showed through the first few songs. Highlights of the night were "When the Morning Comes" and "Las Vegas Turnaround" from Abandoned Luncheonette. Both sounded updated and fantastic. Other highlights include Sara and She's Gone. All in all, a short concert - barely 1 hour 15 before the encore. They did come back twice to play 3 extra songs which pushed the concert to 1 hour 30. A little disappointing.

I really didn't know what to expect. Sometimes the comeback tours of some artists are a real disappointment. I had also heard that Hall had some personal issues that he had a difficult time overcoming. Not the case this time. Hall sounded great!! The whole group was excellent; the band was tight and lively. Admittedly, Hall had trouble hitting some really high notes but sounded really great overall. I definitely would see them again and recommend them to anyone else even those who are just causual fans of Hall and Oates. They were that great!!!

I have wanted to see Hall and Oates perform live for many years but something always prevented my attendance. This time I was able to attend a concert even though I had to drive 2 hours to do so. I would do it again. The show was excellent, Hall and Oates delivered the old favorites with enthusiasm and fun. Their performance was instantly infectious. The seating left something to be desired so I would hope the management at Mohegan Sun will get that issue worked out in the near future. If Hall and Oates are to return I'll be there.

After seeing Hall and Oates on two previous occasions I jumped at the chance to see them at the Mohegan Sun in Wilkes-Barre. Wow were we disappointed!!!--Not with their music as they are always truely awesome, but music was way way too short. The music only lasted 1 hour and a half. People were just getting into having a few drinks and really jamming with the music and all of a sudden it was OVER! We had planned on having a nice dinner and gambling in the casino afterwards, but were so very very disappointed we just went home. So over all, yes go and see Hall and Oates they are unbelievable, but don't do see any concert at Mohegan Sun as I heard all the concerts are this short!! What a gimmick, they handed out coupons all of which expired that very day. I wonder why??????

Grew up listing to Hall & Oates, have all the albums and try to see them whenever they are in the area. It's amazing after all this time that they still play with total enjoyment of what they love. The racetrack was a great place to see them. The sun was shining, the rain was nowhere in sight and the sound was awesome. Really swept the crowd (I notice how much of an "older" crowd was there. Would definitely recommend Hall & Oates to any fan. Not just the hits the way they were played on the radio but they really still enjoy playing. I would recommend Mohegan Sun for an outdoor concert as well.

This was one of the BEST Concerts I went to. The seating was really good. Was affraid that I would be too far away from the Stage, but being in the bleachers was real good, because you were able to see the whole Concert without some one getting up in front of you. It was a very organized event. I'll go again to this location to see other events. Thanks to Ticketmaster with great seats.

After paying $50.00 to see Hall and Oates and having a ticket showing an assigned seat, what a disappointment when the usher said, "You are in the right section, but it is opened seating so just pick any one you can find!! The music was very good but little interaction with the crowd and the concert only lasted an hour and ten minutes. I have never been to such a short concert. Seemed more like a draw tactic for the casino, their shops and restaurants. Had it rained, it would have been worse since there was absolutely no covering for the crowd.

The concert was fantastic! They played everyone of their hit songs and kept the crowd cheering for more! However, I did not care for the first come first serve seating arrangements after paying over $100.00 for a pair of tickets. We actually removed ourselves from the mob of people and stood away from the crowd and got to dance.. So may I suggest not purchasing the best seating in the house at the event venue...not worth what you will get. But Hall & Oates was fantastic...they started off with the song "Maneater" and left the crowd cheering ending the show with the song "Kiss is on my List" fantastic!

Train was awesome! They did all their songs we love & Patrick Monahan was high energy & very entertaining. Hector Maldonado was great. Hall & Oates should have stuck to their original songs as they were played back in the day. They did too much rework on them and some of the sets were too long & drawn out which made it kind of boring. I think a lot of people left before the encore because they were bored.

I don't like Vivint Center for a show, it still feels confining to me. That said, Train did an excellent job! I love Patrick Monahan's voice and all the ways he can vary it. To me, Train definitely ruled the night. And I've always loved Hall and Oates but ... while I give Daryl Hall kudos for talent, he's so full of himself still. Don't get me wrong, he's amazingly talented but maybe you could set that aside for a few shows and allow John some kudos as well? And I don't like it when you can't sing along at a show because the vocals are not even close to what was sung in the studio. You're a great talent Daryl that is never in question but the show could have been so much more enjoyable if you weren't so self involved. Love, love, love Mr. Casual though. WOW!!

Lets begin with the "Opening act for the Headliner". For some reason, I thought the hometown band, Train, would be the headliner. But, without Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood, Train seems to have lost some of its steam. Their replacements, however, are pretty good musicians -- especially, Luis Maldonado (lead guitar and Hector's brother(???)). The set list was an anthology of Train's chart toppers, including something new ("Call Me Sir") to be released in a few weeks. To quote Pat, "If you don't like it, it's still coming out in a couple of weeks." The song is catchy, has its hooks for the original Train generation -- plus, a guest rapper rappin' some lyrics in the middle of the song to hook the teens and 20 something's of this generation. Overall, with Pat at the helm, it's always a good time to catch your Train. Now, the headliner. Hall and Oates. What a pleasant surprise! As a teen in the Arena Rock era, Hall and Oates provided many hits of the best decade ever (in my lifetime). Thanks to Hall and Oates, it was an '80's time warp Friday night. What truly made it very enjoyable was the laid back performance of the band. The band turned the SAP Center into "Daryl's Room". As a teen, I followed an L.A. band, from watching their rehearsals to their live shows. Hall and Oates took me back to those experiences as Daryl just seemed to go with the flow. He didn't try to strain the recorded pitches to please the corporate A&R execs. He just delivered what his vocal cords could produce. THAT made it real and fun, especially with all of the "artists" today who sample and / or lip sync live. The only hiccups were not those of either Train or Hall and Oates, but, the sound engineers who lost sound on Pat's vocals once or feedback on both bands a few times. It is early in the tour, So, hopefully those bugs can be worked out soon.

This was a first time for Hall & Oats and second for Train. Both were a total disappointment. Train is no longer original and Patrick cannot make up the difference. They did not play our favorite "Meet Virginia" and they spent too much time playing Led Zeppelin cover. I saw Led Zeppelin in the 1970s, you are not them, just don't. As for Hall and Oats, Hall looked and sounded like he was phoning it in, changing lyrics and looking smug and bored. Oats just looked like he wasn't having a very good time. To top all of this off, Golden 1 staff did not close the curtains and the sun blasting through made the hall look sort of like the cover of Physical Graffiti (at least that went with the Led Zeppelin theme) and, finally, the sound guy should be sent back to school. The vocal mikes were too low for everyone except the very first warm up band who, while she had a beautiful voice, she did not play music that I like.

Opening night of the 2018 tour. Train was absolutely spectacular. Music was tight, and vocals were spot on. Pat Monahan's vocals were as crisp and pure as they get. Train totally made the show. Now as for Hall & Oates, sheer disappointment. While they did manage to get through the first 2 or 3 songs fairly well, it then soon disintegrated into nothing more than a lackluster performance. Hall seemed to just be missing (or forgetting) song lyrics, and in some cases even appearing to mumble (or stumble) somewhat to fill-in where words should be. I would agree with the other reviews in this regard. Unfortunate, as much of their music is inspirational and upbeat. 5 stars for Train, 1-1/2 for stars for Hall & Oates. Average = 3.5

My girlfriend and I are big concert goers and I had been looking forward to this one for quite a while. I'd seen Tears For Fears back in 2008 and they were great then. They were incredible Sunday night. Great musicians. It was fun to see Carina Round (from Puscifer) singing backup while pretty far along in her pregnancy. She was dancing around and having a great time. Hall & Oates started off a bit slowly, but gained momentum. Their encore set was the best songs of the night and had everyone on their feet singing and dancing. Great memories from so many years of incredible music from them.

This concert was particularly poignant for me. When I was very young, Hall & Oates had been my favorite group and I was excited when I got a chance to see them in person. I was crushed when they appeared on stage late, seemed high and disorganized. The audience got very angry and it ended with them not singing the hits people came to hear. Well, we are all much older and wiser. This concert was excellent! It was on-time, well-organized, and satisfying (they played all the hits). First act Allen Stone was excellent, sounding & performing a lot like Steve Wonder. The other opening act Tears for Fears was a good complement for us baby boomers. But I would highly recommend this concert to people of any age!

We didn't realize nor were we informed that we were sitting in obstructed view seats. At least there were monitors so we could see TFF rock the house. Hall and Oates played their hits but the back-up singers (rest of the band) were singing more than Daryl or John. We spent over $120 to stare at a stack of speakers from above. I suggest that all future concert-goers at Gila River Arena avoid Section 214.

I last saw Hall and Oates in 1978 in Easton, PA. 40 years later they have still have great material but have evolved as musicians and now re-interpret their hits with deeper soul grooves. If you watched Daryl s House, all of the amazing band are intact except guitarist T-bone (who died). Collaboration with Train front man on 3 songs is a typical approach by Daryl. For Sunday the night was a little long. John Oates and Daryl Hall seemed detached on stage most of the time. Train played for an hour. I was surprised how many people came to see Train. Overall was an amazing night.

I saw Hall and Oates twice before MTV was invented, and even back then I was amazed at how good they were live. They could play any type of music and always had a great band. It was all about the music. Then MTV led to them sadly being typecast as "video pop stars" and the music snobs turned on them. I knew at their core they were still just super talented musicians and great entertainers looking for listeners. The images on TV didn't match up with the music I saw them play live. I'm very glad I got to see them again after all these years and can see they survived the scrutiny. They are finally appreciated as the pros they are. No egos. No "fakeness." The boys came to play and they still can. I enjoyed it all, but the extended music jams in "I Can't Go For That" and other songs were what I will always remember. Go see them while they are still around! And by all means- watch LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE! Fantastic TV right there...

The concert was amazing - Kandance Spring was really impressive - my first time seeing her. Train took my breath away (especially when their lead singer). Hall & Oates took me back to my high school days - I've always wanted to see them in concert and finally had the opportunity. Ticketmaster could have and should have done a much better job of communicating how the tickets would be delivered. My confirmation indicated they would be mailed but they were email (THE DAY BEFORE THE CONCERT). I had to call no less than 4 times to check on the status of my tickets that were purchased 4 months in advance of the event.

Train was a Group that I was aware of. But I only liked maybe one or two of their songs. Now that I've seen them live. They are a Great Group, Hoping to see them again. And as for Hall & Oaks. Never seen them live as well. Always Loved their Music. Live music is Always Much Better. Great Concert

Had a Great Time ! Opening Act Started at 7pm followed by Train. who were good. My wife liked them more then I did because she's younger then me. Hall & Oates followed them & played a lot of their hits & the lead singer from Train joined the toward the end. Great Encore Set !!!! Concert ended after 11pm so it was a full night of good music. Great to see the "Philly" boys again !!!! I grew up as a Hall & Oates Fan !!!

Wow, what a great evening of music, friends and memories. Kandace Springs warmed up the center with her sultry jazz voice followed by Train who got the place rockin . Hall & Oates took us on a 3+ decade journey of memories. When you have great musicians, songs and voices, it culminates into a memorable evening.

SO many amazing songs over so many years of my life. The music of Hall and Oats is incredibly great. They look and sound as good as ever. Its the music of my life. Pat Monahan's voice is so strong, i was in awe of the duet with Darly on Wait for Me that I absolutely LOVE from Daryl's House. Darly's voice is as strong as ever. I was over the moon-great evening.

I have been a fan of Train since 2003 and during the last 15 years, have seen them more times than I can count. They just get better and better every time. The members of this band give 110% at every show. I continue to be in awe of their talent, both individually and collectively. Pat s voice is one of the best and he s also really personable and funny!! Luis M may be the best guitar player ever and Hector M ( they are brothers) plays a killer bass. I promise if you go see the show for Hall and Oates (who were great too!) that you will leave a Train fan. On a side note, they are incredibly nice people who really love their fans. Don t miss this show!!

I originally only was interested in seeing TRAIN - tho I grew up listening to Hall & Oats... It exceeded my expectations. Hall & Oats still has it after all these years. & TRAIN was excellent. I wish they had played longer. it was an extremely fun Girls night out . We also got a surprise as the show was not sold out that our tickets got upgraded to better seats. The only major downfall of the event is the additional service charges that Ticket master has on each ticke4t. way out of line. & that is why I do not attend a lot of shows. I feel they are must too greedy in the fees they charge

I haven t seen them in 35 years! For me it was a thrill and I I enjoyed it. Even bought the same retro concert tee I had when I went at 15. I do wish they played a couple more of my favorites like Did it in a minute and Its a Laugh .

Wifey and I went for Daryl Hall and John Oates who was better than expected and brought back some great memories. They are still a powerhouse! The seats were awesome and well worth the price. Train was an unexpected treat. They rocked thier cover of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog and had the whole crowd rocking. What a night!

Train is always a great show and I love the way they mix in some other band's material--Zeppelin and Tom Petty--Monahan can sing that stuff like nobody. Train's guitarist, Luis Maldonado, is one of the best I have seen since Zeppelin--he shreds. And Daryl and John can still rock. The staging was amazing--especially for Philly Forget Me Not. Like the finale of a fireworks show.

1st time to this venue for a concert so not sure what to expect; but was unlike any former concerts I had attended as far as seating/standing was concerned. Food was great and drinks were cold! I'm a BIG Train fan so always great to see Pat live and do his thing - saddened that weather took time away from his set, but he didn't disappoint. Hall & Oats were also good - just thought to much instrumental and lost the crowd at several points during the show. Nonetheless, great time with great friends from high school and can't wait until the next time :)

I have followed Hall & Oates for years, but hadn't seen them in at least a decade. The show and performance was excellent, playing all their classics. Couldn't believe they played "Is it a Star"!! Train's opening was fabulous too, but that cover of Zep's "Heartbreaker!" was Amazing! Super impressed with Train's collab with Hall & Oates as well!

I really enjoyed the Hall and Oates show with Train. Both groups played full sets and then Train's lead singer joined Hall and Oates for a few songs. All the classic hits were there and the singers sounded great. My only complaint is how close the seats are together at Little Caesar's-almost like sitting on the lap of the person next to you. Luckily, I was able to move to a better seat once the show started. Otherwise, a great show!

Darryl and John have a great band and put on a great show which included many hits. The show was so good, I wish it was a little longer. The United Center is a terrible concert venue. Seating is tight and sound is average at best.

Great music, was disappointed when Hall & Oates played, way too much bass over came the singing making it difficult to hear voices. Although Train's accoustics were great, they made it fun, interacting with crowd. They should have headlined. Kandice has a phenomenal voice, music was too laid back. As usual drinks are overpriced, but all in all was a fun night

The set opened well with Tears for Fears playing hits from Songs from the Big Chair and the Hurting. The band was tight and Roland's vocals were impressive. Curt struggled vocally in places but put on a good show. Hall and Oates has the better catalogue of songs but failed to live up to their glory days. Daryl's vocal range was clearly an issue on most of the songs, his speaking, changing octaves and rearranging melodies was mostly unsuccessful and meandering. The band seemed unpracticed with funky transitions, confusion at times with where the lead was going and really poor sound engineering. Again, really bad sound engineering. Mr Chance DeChant on sax stole the set in his white suit.

The concert was filled with amazing emotion, making us all forget about the dreary weather. The arena was filled with people of all ages (I believe my friend and I were the youngest there). Although Hall and Oates were headlining, Allen Stone and Tears For Fears set the bar high.

Tears for Fears look amazing and sound impeccable. Those dudes held up really well. I was very impressed by them. Hall & Oates were the consummate jam musicians, which for someone like me with a tinge of OCD, is irritating. I'm not fond of hearing popular tunes with different inflection, melodies and/or tempos in the singing. I don't mean a different rendition, which would be fine, but rather sung differently. It's like dude, sing the song straight. But still, these guys are pros, and hearing Daryl on the piano was a real treat. Such a soulful voice. It's especially awesome when you realize Daryl Hall is 70 years old! These guys were super spry. Still rocking out and in shape! Incredible. I would recommend going to see this concert. Big bang for your bucks for sure.

The performers made every effort to put on a good show however, the sound was terrible. They had everything maxed out and it made it difficult to understand the words to the song. There was also an echo. In fact towards the end of Tears for Fears set, they started getting feedback through the amps. When they came back for the encore, Curt said "Now I can hear myself", speaking about the ear piece singers wear in their ear. They had to keep coming out and plugging in the guitars. Instead of having the screens on that were hanging in the center, they only had the ones on at the side of the stage so you had to sit at an angle to see. Can you say crick in the neck. Also, Amway charged $20 for parking and then over booked them. They had us parking against walls and on ramps, instead of the parking spots we paid for. The only up side was the friendliness of the employees inside the Amway center. I would definitely not see another concert here again.

The show started with microphone issues for Tears for Fears which was quickly corrected. To me the show was very short. Hall & Oates did not even play 2 hours. That was kind of disappointing... other than that the shows overall were fantastic.

I drove up from Tampa with a friend for this concert. Amway Center is a great venue. The acoustics are wonderful too. The seats are a bit steep for a balance challenged girl, but overall it's a great place for a concert. I really enjoyed seeing two favorite childhood bands in one show! Both Tears for Fears and Hall and Oates can still bring it!
