John Butler Trio

I enjoyed everything about that night... my first time seeing the John Butler Trio live - loved it. My first time at House of Blues Cleveland - loved it. Great Music, Great Venue, Great Beer, and a Great Staff

John Butler Trio was unbelievable. From start to finish I never wanted to look away. Incredible performer and a great band. The spectrum of the music was all over the place, but always felt cohesive. Can t recommend seeing him/them enough. Also, getting seats at HOB is definitely the way to go and worth the extra money

Mama kin was good as the opener, I enjoyed more of her later set...JBT came out on FIRE and went to town on Oceans...great show!!

JBT pulls every type of music genre; rock, blues, blue grass, tribal, jazz and combines it into one of the best performances I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. His guitar solo had the crowd in awe and the sound coming from the stage was sure to shake anyone to their soul. JBT doesn't only put on a show, he makes you feel the music...every beat, every chord, every octave...it's an experience. An experience that one will never forget and a concert that raises the bar on how music should be played...undeniably from the heart and soul.

I have been to their concerts a number of times and they are incredible. Everytime they rank one the top three groups I will go see over and over. Awesome concert

State was really good. Loved the heavy guitar mixed with the ska/reggae rhythm. John Butler kicked a%% too. Very good stage performance. I would have stayed there for fours if I could.

It was in front of 500 people, and they rocked the crowd as usual! The crowd was fantastic...clapping in time and singing along with at least 50% of the songs. The set list was a typical set from last tour, but 3 new songs were played, and the crowd seemed to like em. John thought this was his best LA crowd he'd ever played to...it was cool. It's rare to see a performer of his caliber in such an intimate setting. Great show, Great crowd!

Go see these guys if you can. They are ALL amazingly talented - the show was amazing. They are WAY better live than their music on a CD can show you.

I never write reviews, I see the show, have a good time, go to work.... but this was different. Absolutely one of the greatest musical events I have ever been to. He is just amazing, I'd could go on forever about the show but i still slightly speechless about and unable to go one with more words like amazing, great, wonderful....

It's been a while but perhaps worth the wait. John sounds better than ever (ok that was cheasy) and the two new guys sound like they've been playing together for years. What was really cool is this new venue Lincoln Hall. Intimate but not over crowded.

First off the Venue was beautiful!!! Second off the music was top notch!

Better than i could have imagined. Jbt was phenominal, venue is small, sounds great, and a place everyone should try to experience. Great atmosphere. Servers come to you during the show. Can't beat that. The band's energy was awesome and their jams and solos amazing. Excellent all around.

Seriously, this is one of the the best bands you're not listening to. Wickedly entertaining, crazy solos, and John Butler is hands-down one of the most exciting guitarists you'll ever see play. Seriously, I got this from a wizened bartender at Lincoln Hall who confessed that he's seen a helluva a lot of rock shows but this guy can really play guitar.

John Butler as usual was awesome. I didn't know what to expect as the last time he had a different drummer and base player but new members were just as good. The Lincoln Hall was a great nenue for this show and I stoodf right next to the mixing board so acoustics were perfect. Can't wait til he comes back to the Riv this summer though now spoiled being able to see him at a smaller venue. Also, drinks proces were reasonable unlike other venues. No doubt a 5+ star rating

Truly an amazing guitar player with a sound all his own. Band was tight and played a super mix of old and new. Doubt we'll ever get another chance to see JBT in such an intimate setting again.

John Butler was awesome! such a fun show! he is so talented on how he plays guitars and it was so great to dance and listen to his fantastic music! i wish the show was longer, he only played for like 1 1/2 hours

amazing show. such a treat to finally see him live. it was only an hour and a half which sucks but it was well worth it. hopefully he comes to the city again soon and he'll stick around for a little longer.

Gig was awesome, that I saw of it anyway. Cant believe a Thursday evening headline starts at 7pm. Wish this had been called out.

Last nights show was the BEST musical performance I've seen in a long time. They band appeared to be enjoying themselves as much as the crowd. Too short. Not cool to have second show scheduled for same venue limiting the Trio's ability to play longer. The show was Amazing, Awesome, Fabulous! The Bowery is conveniently located, easy access in and out of city.

Great show, wish they had a longer set. Maybe shorten a few of the songs, so they can get more of them in!

The John Butler Trio was amazing at the bowery, they put on one of the best shows I've seen. Only upsetting thing is that the set had a time limit cause they were the early show. I wanted to see them play more!

The last JBT show was 3 years ago at Palladium NYC and that rocked as well. Here we are 3 years later and he is better than ever. I was first blown away with the cutting of dreds. But that not matter his face is most beautiful and his new songs seemed to sound out of his norm but still has the original JBT sound. Being at Bowery made it even better. A smaller venue definately made the experience even better. The trio are most talented musicians I have seen in awhile. I am going to see Citizen Cope tonight at the same venue. But I know that Cope may not give such a great show as JBT had last night. Go guys and keep on rocking! Hope to see you guys in a concert on the other side of the world. 143 - Love Love Love!

WOW. Talent!! rare these days I know, you can tell he became a good musician on stage and playing live in the streets, not engineered in a studio. Great energy, 7 different guitars, and the best drum solo I have ever heard later I had a perma-grin that took many beer and sleep to remove from my Chevy Chase. Must see!!!

JBT played an amazing show with so much love and passion. The venue was perfect for not a crowded show but still an intimate one. Loved everything about it.

This show was really so fantastic. There honestly isn't a bad "seat" in the house and by that I mean it is standing room only on the main floor and that is ok because you are so close to the stage all the time! John Butler was FANTASTIC! The band, his voice and his charisma were electric. I love seeing him at this venue and go every year :)

We had only listened to the John Butler Trio a handful of times before going to the show. Friends raved about how great they were in past shows, and they weren t wrong. So happy we had a chance to see them perform!

The show was great. The musicians in the John Butler Trio were talented and had a positive vibe. I love the venue but rated it average because I wish it could be cleaner.

I was first introduced to the John Butler Trio at The Vibes in Bridgeport CT. His music captured my soul and I have been a disciple ever since. To see John Butler at such an intimate venue was worth the 250 mile road trip. His music is both dynamic and mesmerizing. His duo with Mama Kin of "Losing You" was an unexpected gift.

I found out about the band about 5 months before and fell instantly in love. Though they didn t play the two songs that introduced me to them, they more than made up for it. The things they can do with guitars are just mesmerizing. First JBT concert but definitely not my last.

John Butler Trio is one of my all time favorite bands. This was the third time I ve seen them live and I was still blown away. Great energy, great jams, and packed with a ton of fans. JBT does not disappoint

MUST see show. John took a couple of songs to get warmed up this concert, but totally fed off the crowd and then the crowd off of him. It was a fantastic show!

I ve been going to see John Butler Trio for over ten years now. They never disappoint but this show was incredible. The crowd and the band just worked so well together and Mama Kin was amazing!! The risks they appear to be taking with the new album seem like a great direction. Do not pass up an opportunity to see these guys!!!

One of the best live acts I've ever seen. John Butler is an incredibly skilled guitarist and singer, and his trio are musically adept enough to keep up with him. They play really fun renditions of their songs live and seem to really enjoy themselves on stage.

We've seen John Butler Trio two years in a row. Ride festival in Telluride and now in SD. Truly a great show from start to finish. Mama Kit Spender was very entertaining so much talent.

Second worst venue in SD. I go to a lot of show (50 - 60 per year) and this is the last time I'll attend a show at house of blues! The poor review has nothing to do with John Butler. He was his usual amazing self. Venue totally ruined the show. Who puts giant pillars where you can't see the stage and blocks the sound?

I love seeing this amazing man in concert he is an all time favorite. As far as the HOB, it still sucks and it s a hot box. If it s not an artist I truly love A LOT, you couldn t get me to set foot in there for a concert. However the restaurant? The food and service was excellent. Especially our server Robby. LOVE HIM!

"AMAZING" is the word every single person in my entourage used to describe The John Butler Trio band's performance on Friday night at SumpTur Amphiteater. I have never listened to The John Butler Trio band before, and I ended up in the front row, totally encapsulated with the band, and dancing for 3 1/2 straight hours non-stop. WOW!!! I cannot wait for you to come back to Sumptur again. BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!

The Mama Kin Spender opening act was shear delight with insightful lyrics and enchanting storytelling. The 'band' (duet) offered a few amplification tricks filling the amphitheater with much more than one could hope for. The inspiration for composition showed an intelligence rarely publicly displayed. John Butler Trio came out as a quintet with visionary compositions and harmonic motion lifting the audience off its seats. Exemplary instrumentation and execution was rewarded with obvious admiring fans. This reviewer was impressed with the depth of the troubadour Butler and his willingness to share his most personal journeys via musical energy. Bravo.

I was so excited when I found out John Butler Trio was coming to the Omaha area! The concert was fabulous! One of the best concerts I have been to. It was outdoors and the weather and music was just fabulous. So good we are thinking of driving to another city to see him again this tour! His music just touches the soul!

Venue was great and John Butler was amazing! Playlist was perfect and played two hours.

Thrilled I got to see these guys at Hampton Beach, NH! Drove 2 1/2 hrs to get there and they were sooooo worth it! To say this man is an acoustical genius is an understatement! Their music gets into your soul, the lyrics, the unique sound, such an unforgettable experience! I can't wait until their next U.S.A tour! I will definitely be there!

I'd heard some JBT on XPN and liked what I heard, but seeing them live was amazing! He's such a talented musician, a funny story teller and a humanitarian. Everybody was dancing. The venue was perfect. It was a gorgeous evening to be on the river. Allen Stone played before them, loved him too!

Incredible group of versatile musicians, one of the best drum solos I've seen since Rush, and I love the GA section for JBT because there is such a great vibe at their shows & it is incredibly easy for a short person like myself to stand in the front row.

Another epic performance by JBT! John Butler is not to be missed when touring stateside. They played a nice mix of old songs and some tracks from "blood, sweat and tears" which released the day of this show. He does a great job of mixing things up and keeping the crowd engaged. His musical talent is unbelievable. He showcased multiple guitars, All which he played perfectly. JBT is not to be missed!

These guys are a must see. Rarely do you find a band, especially in an improvisational-type genre, that sounds even better live than on their studio albums. JBT fits that mold. Unbelievable show. Only wish I had taken a vacation day to travel to Minnesota & see them the following night!

This was the second time seeing them and they were amazing. Their music is soul healing. When you stand there and close your eyes while he is playing oceans it just takes you away. Or when Zebra starts and everyone goes crazy and starts dancing. It's amazing the feeling you get then you see him live and feel the musi.

It was the best and most peaceful venue I have ever been to. JBT is my favorite band ever and together with the scenery and a full moon! It was the best show i have even seen. I really felt like i was one with the earth there. The only bad thing is that i live in PA so i cant see shows there more often!

If you like a few John Butler Trio songs, please make an effort to catch a live show. While I LOVE love love the recorded music, I was completely blown away by the concert. The guys-John, Bruce and Nikki-all superb musicians and a live show really sets them free. It's obvious that all of them love to play in front of an audience, and they knew how to entertain, too. It's not very often the drummer engages the fans in a reparte, but Nikki does. The music drifts between jam music, reggae, rock, blues, and rap. I know, it sounds crazy, that's the beauty of it. Only three incredibly talented guys could pull it off and make it fun, too. Check 'em out! You won't regret it.

JBT was an amazing show and I am looking forward to seeing them again. They played with energy and the sound of John, Byron on bass, and Nicky on drums, was truly the finest musicianship I have seen in a long time. The opening song, Revolution, got the crowd pumped and they following songs just added to the ride. A must-see show!

Great show! John Butler gave it his all and the fans loved him for it. What talent! Great sound, great venue. Played an extra 30 minutes! Only suggestion, shorten the drum/bass solo. It went on for 10 minutes!

The band was great...just feel good happy music. But seeing 'Ocean' played live, especially in a small venue, is one of the greatest things you will ever see. It made me realize again why I spend so much money on live music....just breathtaking.

red rocks 6/4/2010 was one of the most amazing nights of music i have ever experienced. John, Nicky and Byron were very tight and it seemed like they have been together for a really long time. I miss shanon and michael but this is exceptional.

John Butler killed it yet again! His dazzling ability to ignite the crowd and share his love for music prevailed on Friday night in Oakland. John Butler Trio played multiple greatest hits along with some personal songs that lie close to JB's heart, ie. A Star is Born. The band even came into the crowd for a Call and Response drum session. They walked in the heart of the crowd and had everyone sit down and generate our own music with the drum beat. The band created an intimate experience with the crowd uniting everyone together as a community. They thanked their longtime friend and manager for the many years of success and love on their tours. They played for a good 45 minutes after their first departure. With out a doubt, John Butler, with his electrifying personality and inifinite zest for sharing his love of music, stole the stage yet again and blessed all Fox theater attendees with a night to remember and a story to tell.

I had a great time at this show and would recommend it to anyone! John played Ocean and it was INSANE! If you have sort of love for good music you will love JBT!

Show was amazing!, Packed full of energy and the mood in the first ave venue was awesome as usual. I drove 600 miles to see John play ocean and i dont regret any moment of the trip.

This was my 4th time seeing state radio and it was probably the best show I've seen. The weather was perfect in the outside stage in central park. It took us a while but my friend and I managed to get in the second row and were right in front of Chad Stokes. The performances were amazing as they went all out like usual. They had so much energy on stage and connected so well with the audience. John Butler Trio was also impressive although I wasn't too familiar with their music. I would recommend anyone to go see either of them! (Especially state radio!)

Going into the show, I never heard of State Radio, but coming out I can say I am one of the newly converted! These guys rocked the foundation to its core. And when John Butler Trio came out, they blew the roof off! JBT just took it to a whole new level. I have not seen this type of skill display in a while. Switching between multiple electric guitars, to banjo, then to slide guitar, this was trully a mind blowing experience. And then the bodacious drum and bass solos, that was over the top. I always said, as good as the music might sound on tape, you can really tell how great a band is by their live performances (think Britney Spears who lip syncs). Last night, State Radio and JBT delivered tenfold. Do yourself a favor and see both bands, you will not be dissapointed.

John Butler Trio was great when they finally took the stage at 10 p,m. They had an amazing crowd at Red Rocks, and were extremely grateful for it too. This is the second time I've seen this band and I would certainly recommend that every music enthusiast get tickets to the next. They do a little something special for everyone out there.

Captivating performance and most likely the most engaging guitarist out there right now. Jammed out more than I have in a long time and the transitions of songs were great. I always love to hear what he has to say and the tributes he makes unique each and every tour, depending on the area he is in or the mood of the nation at that particular point. Definitely allows you to forget about the past and future and just enjoy those moments while he commands that stage. Great match with his two additions. Loved the show!

John butler Trio left the audience with a stellar performance. The JBT Band ,back together, grooved in a grand way with the audience singing most of the lyrics right along with John. My 16 year old had the privilege of listening to JBT in- virto as well as in person. I personally have enjoyed JBT since the inception of their music and am enjoying the ride.. Thanks JBT!

John Butler puts on a show worthy of the name - the best and most fun show I have seen in years. Watching his dexterity with music is as much fun as hearing it. Two years ago I went to the john butler trio concert at the same venue. Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, they blew me away again this past Friday night. I have seen them twice so far and I am already planning on seeing them during their next tour. I highly recommend checking this band out. I love you JBT!!
