Brian Fallon & the Crowes put on an amazing show. The acoustics of The Ryman were a perfect match for all of Fallon's newer and more folk-like songs. It was a flawless performance and one that I will always remember. (My only complaint was the audience. I'm not sure if it was due to the music style or the fact that people were simply waiting for Ryan Bingham to perform, but no one stood up during the performance except me. To each his own, but I don't go to shows to sit down).

I was able to attend this event both nights. I had trouble finding my hotel and arrived late on friday. I really enjoyed Cage the Elephant that night. Saturday was there before they opened the doors, am so thankful that F'real was giving out milkshakes. Made for a good breakfast. I bought VIP tickets but entered through general admission both days and after talking to the right person I had no problem getting my bracelet to enter the VIP section. The shows on saturday were really awesome and definately compensated for the change of venue. Patty Crash was great, Budos Band<-- thumbs up. Zee Avi great music. Sun Airway suprisingly good. Kreayshawn worth the wait for sure. I stood in the front row for 6 hours waiting for her. Unfortunately my pictures didn't turn out that great because of my choice of camera. Should have went with the digital for inside. Girl Talk and Pretty Lights show were utterly mindblowing! The shows were great I had a blast!

"Three One-Act Comedies" a totally misleading title. First one totally unfocused (had one funny joke, about the waiter), second a one-note exercise, a poor thing being victimized and unable to stand up for herself, the victimizer was funny for the first ten minutes, then an irritant. The Woody Allen was an actual comedy, thank God. We went with friends, and were embarrassed to have caused them to pay $127 a ticket for these two downers plus the (30? 40?) minute relief. The Brooks Atkinson is the most uncomfortable theater I've ever been in. I have a (mended) broken hip, and sitting in those cramped conditions was an agony -- until the last play, which took my mind off them.

I never appreciated tenors before I heard Paul Byrom sing. His voice is truly a golden voice. He can make you feel such emotion. I get shivers. I cry. I sing along, despite not being able to sing very well. I never tire of playing Paul's music. The bonus is Paul's sense of humor - he's actually a very funny guy. He has wonderful stage presence, a gift that carries over from a genuinely sweet personality when he speaks with you one on one. Paul is simultaneously confident and humble; that's rare. His values are all in the right place. He is simply delightful and is a gift to all of us fortunate enough to see and hear him in person. BEST OF LUCK ON YOUR TOUR PAUL!!!

Sunday was a better day than Saturday - enjoyed more of the side acts and was blown away by the music quality and ability to get up close to Los Lonely Boys and Buddy Guy. Was able to get as close as I wanted to be for both Kid Rock and Bob Seger without much hassle - we had VIP field seats.

I didn't expect nearly that large a crowd from a local band, but As You Were filled the House of Blues. They have a great sound, a throw back from the rock giants of the 80s and early 90s. Frontman Jeff has an incredible voice that fit well even with the ballad they played. Lead guitarist Mike displayed quite the mastery of his instrument. And the synchronized hair-spinning of bass and rythm guitarists Dave and Steven was something I haven't seen at a show since the turn of the millenium. Not to mention AJ on the drums in the back, dwarfed by his set and yet commanding an impressive presence over the entire venue. My only complaint about the show is that the set seemed a little bit short. 45 minutes for a headlining band seems a trifle scant. But I would attend again in a heartbeat!

I've seen Beatle tributes over the many years and while they are all enjoyable, one of the usual weakpoints in those tributes is whomever is playing the Paul role. Big shoes to fill. Not so with Tony Kishman in this tribute. His vocals are almost spot-on, meaning the range is really impressive and the timber of his voice is a very close match to one of Paul's vocal varieties. And his instrumental musicianship is everything you could want from McCartney's music. Tony is impressive on all instruments and lacks nothing. And best of all, you don't have to close your eyes to imagine you're actually hearing Paul, because he looks very much like him. Quite an immersion and what a rockin' show! Maybe I'm amazed...

One of the top cover bands around. They've got the sound down. Every nuance is timed out perfectly. Fun, fun show. Highly recommended!
