Edwin McCain

EDWIN MCCAIN IN CONCERT:Late-'90s alt-rock mainstay Edwin McCain continues to draw serious crowds anytime he performs his nostalgic guitar-driven tunes in concert. McCain made headlines in 2015 when he signed on to the Animal Planet series Flipping Ships, which follows him as he restores abandoned ocean vessels with his company Boats Have Souls, and the songs he's written for the show have introduced his music to a new generation of fans. At his live shows he's joined by his talented backing group the Edwin McCain Band, which helps him bring nostalgic favorites like "I'll Be" and "I Could Not Ask for More" to life with energetic guitar, bass, keyboards, saxophone, and drums. McCain's husky voice and knack for catchy melodies are as impressive as ever, and the same commitment to craft that has led him to restore boats remains ever-present in his music.

I m not even sure how many times I have seen Edwin over the last 20+ years, but this show ranks up there as one of the best. It s great when you can tell an artist loves what they do, and take requests from the audience. He also did a great cover of George Michael s One More Try that was phenomenal!

Everything was just fantastic last night. Both opening acts were very good and Edwin did not disappoint. Venue was also very good. Small enough to be comfortable and large enough to feel like you're enjoying the music with a lot of fans. All definitely recommended.

I have seen Edwin McCain 3 times now and he never disappoints. He is likeable, down to earth and so talented that it's ridiculous (he's actually even better live than on his album.... How many artists can you say that about?). Every song is delivered with such passion and conviction. He has an uncanny ability to paint pictures with his lyrics and then deliver them in such a way that you feel as if you are experiencing every emotion evoked in the song. The set list was perfect..... all the songs we were waiting to hear were strategically placed amongst songs that were, if less main stream than others, just as beautifully written and delivered as our favorites.

Edwin came on and rocked. I love his soulful lyrics and mesmerizing voice. I even love hearing him do cover songs. He even came down into the audience for this one! However, I can't wait until they pass the no smoking law......It sucks to have to look through a haze to see someone. I coughed and sneezed for days because of the selfish, oblivious smoker beside me. I also don't understand why cameras were not allowed.

We really enjoyed Edwin McCain, the performance was great, the sound good, he was better than I expected!! I would see him again for sure...but not at HOB Myrtle Beach. The venue was really smoky and they allowed small children in ... yes 3 and 4 year old kids. I found that distracting since it's mostly a "standing room only" environment and the kids were running around our feet, yelling and such.

Edwin was awesome! The show was energetic and was perfectly mixed, and LOUD!!! (Kudos to the FOH, we stood behind him.) There was a satisfying blend of the supported new record and all the big hits. Vocally, man, I can't put into words effectively...it's why we're fans of Edwin McCain. He's one of the best vocalists in rock music, period. The reasons I didn't give 5 stars is because the lighting was strange. It just didn't seem sync'd most of the time. Sophie B. Hawkins was VERY energetic! I feel like I've seen Janis Joplin live now, too!

My husband and I have seen Edwin McCain live at least seven times, and we try and find a show each year to celebrate our anniversary, because the first time we saw a show was the first year we were married! He gets better every year, and we always leave seeing something new and a terrific new song or two. We absolutley love Edwin, his personal story-telling syle, that shares a peice of his heart with his fans. He is not afraid to be simple, real and just himself, and we appreciate that about him immensely! Keep the music coming, Edwin!

I saw Edwin 12 years ago and he was still just as great, if not better. His voice is incredible live. He is very entertaining. I love that he stops to tell little anecdotes from his life in between songs. He's a really funny guy! He has a couple of very talented musicians with him on guitar and sax.

Easily one of the top 3 shows I have ever been to. I love Edwin McCain so I thought it would be good, but I had NO IDEA how good it would actually be. Great show by Edwin! Enjoyed the funny stories between the songs as much as the music. Sound quality was awesome -- as is always the case at the Bijou, which is my favorite Knxvll theater or music shows. Thought the price of the ticket was very fair. I enjoyed the concert. Edwin was also funny. The only thing at didn't like, and this has nothing to do with Edwin, I noticed some guess sitting at tables (right of the stage) were talking out load amongst themselves, including one time with the cocktail waitress taking orders...it was rude and very distracting.

I have been listing to Edwin since the very 1st album. Have seen him and his band many times and they are always great. This show was a trio with Edwin, guitarist Larry Chaney and saxophonist Craig Shields (who I got to meet in the lobby, very nice guy). The show was awesome. They did a great set and made the audience feel very apart of the show. Very nice venue, the only problem I had was with the security. Craig told me that him and Edwin would be hanging around out back after the show and to come talk to them but the security was very rude and advised that we had to clear the parking lot when there was like 4 of us standing there just hoping to get a glimpse of Edwin leaving. This was the only time I have sen Edwin that I did not get to speak with him. Such a shame that the "mall cop" security would not alow since we all know Edwin is very generous to his fans.

Edwin McCain heart grabbing lyrics and smooth as can be voice once again gave every ticket buyer a performance that was worth ten times the value of the ticket. He never ceases to draw the crowd into his songs with his stories and amazing segways into his next number. Before most songs Edwin tells the story of how the song came to be. It was not for his amazing song writing and musical talent, Edwin would certainly have done well in the comedic arena. He makes his fans laugh as often as they applaude his songs. He seems to have a direct connection with his fan base and they know exactly what to expect as they shout out requests of song names. His array of melody styles from Blues, to folk, to rock appease all.

While I have always liked the Edwin McCain songs I heard on the radio, I had never heard an hour and half of them back to back. After three or four songs into the set they all just started to bleed together as they sound about the same. It wasn't bad. It was just a lot of the same for an hour and half. I will stick with a few songs on my shuffled playlist...I can actually enjoy his music that way.

a Completely entertaining night.....2 Guitars, a sax, and stellar vocal, and I have not had a better listening experience like this in a while....Mr Larry Chaney's chops are flawless, and Mr McCain's voice is still phenomenal. Great sound, Great artistic approach, great vocals, great SAX (Mr Shields...I did not forget you)......just great....I have to say that I did not want to drive an hour one way to this gig, but so glad we did.....I have loved listening to the mainstream stuff for years, without delving into the lesser known. Now I'll be buying more EM music for sure.... Mike S.

What my wife and I love about Edwin is that he plays small and intimate venues. We have been able to be right at the stage for both shows we've seen him play. He tells stories, gets into his music with the band and genuinely enjoys it all. My recommendation is to listen to as much Edwin music as you can, learn it and realize how great of an artist he is. And of course go see him play!!!

When I arrived, I figured that it was going to be a good show. I was under the impression that, since the tickets were so cheap, it would just be Edwin and his guitar. That, in itself, would be just fine. He is a great singer/songwriter. Well, it turned out to be the entire band and they blew me away. It was awesome. I'm having trouble finding words to describe it. It was 10 times better than I thought. I have a new appreciation for this guy and his music. His showmanship is right up there with Bruce Springsteen and the like. He played for almost 2 hours with no break!! And his voice and energy finished just as strong as it started. The band was tight and loose all at the same time. I'm actually embarrassed at how cheap the tickets were given the quality of it all. I kind of wanted to tip him $50 on the way out. Last night's show is not one I will soon forget.

I've been to so many Edwin concerts, I've stopped counting. Started the journey of many concerts in 1999. This was perhaps the best I've seen. The band loves this venue and it shows! The guys were happy, energetic and enthused! The crowd was loving them! Edwin is just the greatest guy! He's so kind and generous and gives you all he's got in concert. If you haven't seen an EMB concert you're missing out on a fun experience you'll always remember. So many bands are lackluster at best live. Edwin just gets better and better. We've seen Edwin McCain a few times. We wopndered if he would still have the energy and skills that we saw in him a few years ago. Sometimes people change. Well, let me tell you, Edwin and the band came out and held the NY crowd in the palm of their hands. And I think they would have played all night..but there WAS another band booked to play after them. To be clear: there are some great singers in the bizness, and some great writers and some people that can tell a funny story and keep you entertained...but there are so few people who can do all of this...off the cuff...just being themselves. That's Edwin McCain..and he shows no signs of slowing down. PS: The pics of him lately stink, he's lost weight, looks great and seems to be enjoying himself MORE these days..even more than when he was in the top 40. Forget the top 40..I'll take Edwin Mcain anyday over Lady GaGa. Go see him...he is well worth it...what a great night!

This is the third time that I've seen Edwin McCain and while he has always put on a great show I think he voice is getting stronger with age. Blue Ocean Music Hall is a great little venue for an intimate setting show and I will definitely go back. I was extremely impressed with the opening act, Chris Nathan, who was extremely talented and I expect will have much success in his future. The only complaint I have is the inconsiderate people talking throughout the show.

The Birchmere is a perfect venue for Edwin McCain. His band is amazing, and Larry Chaney was awesome ! They played straight for 90 minutes, and came back for four more songs. I loved the variety of music, the stories from the road, and the fact that Edwin's family was in attendance too.

Third time seeing Edwin McCain. First time at the Birchmere. He played a good portion of songs we had heard before (I'll Be, I Could Not Ask for More), the biggest difference in this performance was that he had his drummer and bassist along for the concert. These additions made the concert have a much more rockier feel, yet the setting was still personal. Edwin's banter between songs was welcomed as to why he writes what he writes. The sound and mixing were spot on and seats were great with a super view of the stage.

Edwin McCain never disappoints. He has an amazing soulful voice that gives you goose bumps. He is also very funny and gives a performance beyond just singing. He has a style and swag all his own. He added a drummer and an additional guitarist and sounded phenomenal. I have seen his trio many times and always enjoy them immensely, but with the added musicians, they took it to the next level. I enjoyed the show so much. They even performed an Earth, Wind & Fire Song and Brian Adams song. My mom and I went for my birthday celebration and we see him whenever he comes to town. I would recommend to see him perform whenever you get a chance. We love him ! " I Could Not Ask For More "

An amazing and intimate performance from an extremely talented artist! I want to see and hear more of him. Truly a fabulous night out. Edwin McCain is a master. He play a great guitar, sings impeccably, and is hilarious to boot! I love that he has remained low key on purpose even though he could have been a much bigger star. I love his values, talent and the fact that he is a good ole' family man. Way to go Edwin! Thank you for a wonderful Friday night out!

Edwin McCain and his band played an energetic, passionate, rockin', precision show! His voice was amazing and his band fantastic. Also loved his sense of humor. He would take us from laughing at his commentary to choked up at one of his beautiful songs that hits right at the meaning and heart of life. A consummate storyteller. Loved every minute of a long, generous show!!

Awesome show! Loved every minute! Edwin is such a amazing entertainer! Wish he would play locally around Greenville SC more! And we just happened to be in Clemson and saw the promo written on a shop window, otherwise we would never had known he was playing. So glad we were able to see Edwin's concert.

Tillman Hall is a great place to see a concert like this! Started right on time with an opening act I could have missed. A little too hillbilly for my taste but the Banjo player was awesome and had a wonderful full voice that crooked pine should use much more!! Needed another mic on stage! I love going to see song writers perform and McCain did not disappoint. Nice on stage personality and great voice! Much better than Josh Turners voice from the night before.(very flat when not singing in his low range voice) Thanks for a great experience!!

Edwin McCain's voice brings tears to my eyes. I have had the honor of seeing him several times. He never disapoints. He has quite the sense of humor and his stories in between songs are just as entertaining as the man himself. Lets not forget the talant he has backing him up. A close knit group. The social was a small intimate theatre and it felt like he was in my living room performing for a group of friends and family. I am not sure it was the choice of Edwin or the Revel, the only disapointment was he did not play long enough. for the price of the tickets an hour and twenty min doesn't cut it. I will still continue to see him as much as i can.

I had seen him 10+ in AC and he was even better now. I enjoyed the setting at revel as it felt more intimate. It was my husbands first time seeing him and he even enjoyed the show.

My husband and I traveled three hours round trip into NYC for this concert. We had never attended an APAP showcase before, but assumed that Edwin McCain was the main act and would perform after the four other lesser know artists. The only part of that which held true was that he did play last. He played four songs, and then disappeared off stage. That was it. Show over. We were not alone in our disappointment, as all of the audience at and near our table, looked at each other... stunned. The best known artist from this showcase, Edwin McCain, played fewer songs and for less time than any other artist. And while the other artists were enjoyable to listen to, I cannot look past the fact that I drove three hours to hear four songs. Ridicuous.

I absolutely loved the close, personal feeling the show had. I've always enjoyed McCain at the bigger venues but this was by far the best. I was very pleased.
