I had goosebumps the entire show! it was a feast for all senses!

Never thought I'd get a chance to see Freestyle Fellowship!!! Heard the show announced on the radio and bought the tickets IMMEDIATELY!! Glad to see that there's still great hip hop being played. Was an all around GREAT show.

The concert was amazing. They are great performers and would definetly see them again.

I am a huge fan of Blackstar and I think Kweli and Mos Def put on a great show. The problem was that I had to wait over 3 hours for them and they had some wack opening acts.

As always Mos Def and Talib Kweli Killed the show. However even with there greatness it was over shadowed by the fact they decided not to go on stage till 1:30 am when they were projected to go on stage at 11 PM. I believe i sat and waited for hours for them to preform. I was not happy with the Nokia theatre venue nor was i happy with having to wait for them on stage the first artist was booed off of stage because of the long wait. I wouldnt leave because i didnt want to lose my money. so I forced myself to stay awake for the concert which ruined my experience

This was unbelievable and I hope they decide to put on another show. I will be there. My dream come true would be for them to create another album...please please please!

Talib & Mos Def are excellent together. whether you know the songs or not, the beats were groovy and energetic. The vibe in the venue was excellent.

Mos Def and Talib Kweli are HIP HOP!!! I've seen the two apart, and together a few times before this show... but this blew the others away. All the classic hits that Black Star are known for were played, and some new hits off Mos Def's new album Estatic. Even the opening group Black Violin was amazing, the whole time the show was crackin.

I had an awesome time and the Nokia Theatre is an awesome venue

the starting acts were not that great (minus black violin which was as solid!), but the concert and reunion of talib kweli and mos def was definitely worth the long wait. it was also great to hear some of mos def's new stuff...

pretty solid show, mos and talib are always quality. watchin one of the openers get booed off the stage was pretty funny too. for a place in times sq the nokia is a fairly decent venue

Amazing group, too bad they were literally hours late, to the point where they were booed as they came on. Loved it, but they also only played for an hour and a half since they were so late...definitely made it way less enjoyable overall

I love Black Star. My two favorite artists of all time. I don't want to hate or be negative but honestly, I was disappointed. Mosdef had great stage presence while Talib wore a baseball cap pulled low that covered his face. I expected this concert to blow my mind but it instead kept me mildly entertained. The worse part was that the concert started at 11:30PM and the main act didn't go on until 2AM!! There was a long period of waiting which was very annoying and left the crowd bored. These two are still my fav but I would think twice before paying to see them again...

It was off the hook. If you like real hip-hop and you like blackstar then go watch them anywhere they are at. The only negative thing though was the fact that they only performed for an hour, hour and a half. If they would have gone longer it would have been one of the most amazing shows I ever been to.

It was great seeing the two of them on stage together again. These guys are gods in NYC. The livest hip hop crowds in NYC ALWAYS involve these two performing. Incredible.

Loved the energy... Could feel it as soon as you get in... The line was crazy long and we waited a while but they brought the house down. They did have an opening act with the same name as theirs only BlaqStarr and they were the worst... but Mos and Kweli are Legends in my mind! Great Job!!!

Mos And Talib Are Two of Rap's Greatest Emcees...The Show Was Awesome. Nokia Rocked that night. Cant wait for next Album..GO SEE THIS SHOW if it comes your way..

Black Star had a good performance but they could have done better. I expected more. We had reserved seats up in the balcony and because everyone in front of us decided to stand up the whole time, we couldn't see the stage or the performance unless we moved to other seats. Talib's microphone went out for a while and they finally got the situation fixed. Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed ourselves.

Black Star has great chemistry, skill, and ability! However, they took way too long to start the performance. The dj was great but given way too much time!

Classic black star hits with some of the new unreleased material. Mos def did a little solo stuff and talib kweli did a few also. Overall, a great selection.

We drove in from Philly to see the show. The House of Blues is a pretty cool venue. We purchased seats cause we didnt want to be crowded on the floor, but we ended up standing near the stage cause there weren't that many people at the show. Phony Ppl opened the show and they were actually pretty good. We talked about just hanging out in the casino until BlackStar came on but we decided to check it out. I'm so glad we did! Phony Ppl is this great collective of singers, rappers, and musicians...and they're only like 20 years old. They had some pretty good original music, and did a few covers that were cool but kinda questionable like Pac's "I get around." lol Blackstar came out about a half hour late which was cool compared to how late they've been in other cities. Mos and Talib had great energy and really connected with the crowd. However, I was kinda crushed that they did so much of their solo stufff and only a few songs from the Blackstar album. I've been a fan since high school and was really looking forward to hearing "Brownskinlady (My anthem throughout high school and college," "Theives in the Night," and "KOS Self Determination." I can't understand how they could not perform those seminal songs. They did perform "Respiration," "Astronomy ," "Children's Story," and "Hater Players," which was great. Towards the end of the show Mos Def did this really weird Jimi Hendrix esq air guitar/dance number which took time that could been used to perform more hits. Oh well, I still love them and was happy to see them perform. I'm just kinda dissapointed that they didn't perform their most influential (at least for me) music.

Show was so ill! Not even Just Black Star but all the opening acts were dope and DJ Nu-Mark whom I've never heard of before absolutely killed it and almost stole the show! Incredible!! Definitely don't hesitate if these dudes come to your City!

sound was horrible. set list was poorly put together. kweli was controlling sound check from the concert itself, when i thought you were suppose to have all that squared away prior. you got the feeling that since they are blackstar, showing up was enough. ive seen them numerous times, and by far this was the worst

It was very long concert, filled with tons of great old school artist. Talib and Mos Def didn't come on til about midnight but it was well worth the long night. Glad we got seats!

Loved the show. Their live act is great. Crowd was mainly there for Black Star (obviously). I wish the Freestyle Fellowship set was longer. Mos Def kept giving props to The Fellowship during the Black Star performance. He even busted a Fellowshiip verse off of "Blood" while P.E.A.C.E. was on stage...very cool. Seriously, Black Star knows how to put it down and should come back to the Nokia Club.

Mos Def and Talib Kweli made an unforgettable show. They played some great classics that night and I must say I would watch it all over again I couldn't have wished for more except for the night to go on!

Mos Def and Talib proved themselves that MCism is not dead yet. Great to see 2 MCs and 1 DJ. But it started too late... around 11PM gosh!

Amazing sound system! L-acoustics! Same sound system as the Observatory in Orange County I believe!.... Alcohol is pricy though.. $11 for a Stella... Whatevers.

I was blown away! Mos Def and Talib Kweli were spectacular! The whole show had high energy from start to finish. This was the best hip hop show I have been to in years!

I've been wanting to see this duo perform ever since I purchased their album 10 years ago! Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) & Talib Kweli did not disappoint. From their new tracks, to Mos Def crooning. This was a show I won't forget.

They got on late about 10:30. But, they stayed on 'til 12:25. They did their entire Black Star catalogue and some of their own greatest solo tracks. J-Rocc from Beat Junkies was the DJ and he was slammin'. They revealed a new track. But, really it was about how they took it back to the hip-hop basics. It was just two MC's and one DJ, and they rocked the ish. Try to check them when they come to your city. These guys are worth it. They seek and speak the truth. And, they make you throw your hands in the air.

While there was a 4 night mega tour going on in Los Angles, black Star rocked a small room of true hip hop fans with a classic mix of what hip hop is really supposed to be. True MCing with two pioneers of hip hop joining together, standing in front of two turn tables and holding their respective mics. No fancy light shows or fire, just beats and rhymes that will stay with you long after the others' bubble gum radio pop rap "duos" go out of style. The best remedy of the question alot of people have been asking, "what the hell happened to hip hop?".

The show gathered Los Angeles' lost crowd of hip hop-starved enthusiasts for an unforgettable night of music that brought us all back to a time when we remember the truth about the forgotten legacy of the powerful inspiration of conscious hip hop called Black Star.

These dudes are awesome. Yassin Bey and Kweli still doing it big. Thanks to Club Nokia for having enough metal detectors so that there was never a long line. And then the show was bananas ... classics from the first album, a few reflection eternal joints, some from black on both sides, and then a few from the eclectic. My only complaint is they didn't play Exhibit C as I kept shouting :) ... GREAT SHOW!!!

The opener band did well, but we got over it quick. Black star didn't go on until 10:30 which doors opened at 8, seemed too long of a wait. They performed for a good while though.

Never seen either of these two perform before, let alone together. One of best shows I've been to. They kept the crowd going the entire concert! Had all their greatest songs for an awesome set list.

BLACK STAR...REAL HIP-HOP! Talib and Mos are the truth as usual! I wish I knew who the idiot was that thought it prudent to throw their CD down to the stage so I could slap him with it. But Talib and Mos handled it with gully class. Loved it! Would definitely see them again. And...the Fillmore is pretty hot too.

One of the best shows I've ever seen! Mos Def and Talib Kweli have got to be the best combination of hip hop artist to ever take the stage. The venue was small, so the show was intimate. The crowd vibe was top notch. Black Star fans are true hip hop purists......and get it. All nationalities of people just came together for one night in H-town with no drama....just true hip hop. I even managed to make it backstage after the show and met Talib!

GREAT SHOW! GREAT ENERGY! GREAT SOUND! left the show sweatin, ears ringin, feet hurtin (in a good way),with no voice! IM BACK IN LOVE WITH HIP HOP! (thank you Black Star) they rhymed with REAL mics and even dressed up for the show! handkerchiefs and all ( love it when men look like men!)

This show was AMAZZIINNG! It was my first time at the Fox Theater and it was gorgeous. No better venue to host this event. DJ Evo was amazing and got the crowd groovin. Then Zion I came on and was also AMAZING. Finally, Black Star comes on and I know I can die happy. Amazing show, amazing performance, just plain fantastic.

I live in Atlanta and planned an entire week in NYC around the Black Star show at Nokia Theater. My friends and I decided to go to the late show, which turned out to be a bad idea. We got in line in Times Square around 9:30. The doors opened at 11 and we took our places right up front. The opening band was amazing- Black Violin came out and impressed the audience. Unfortunately, the next act wasn't a hit. 88 Keys, a Kanye West protege was booed off stage after one song, leaving us wanting Black Star and nothing else. Finally, at 1:30 AM Talib and Mos Def came out. They were great, but to my disappointment played only an hour set, mostly of Mos Def's solo material. I felt this show would have been a great opportunity to bring out special guests that have frequented both of their albums, I also felt this would have been a great opportunity for a live band to back them up. The overall production of the show was a mess. It felt like no one was organized behind the scenes. With all of the problems the show did have, I'd do it all over again. It was hip-hops version of a Zeppelin reunion. A once in a lifetime opportunity. I guess this was a simple case of high expectations not being met.

Saw them maybe 5 years ago at the same venue and they were even better this time.

Classic Blackstar. The duo was same, Big Von held it down, production was lacking. The balloons and confetti did nothing. Would have been fresh it it was mixed up with live instruments, guest appearances or better stage production. Venue was beautiful, show was average.

It was ok, I have seen these guys do way better. Hyro came out first and they hella sucked, you couldn't even tell what they where saying. Mos and Talib pretty much the same thing, I expected way better. It was still good to see them though and hear some of the songs I like even though it did not sound good.

I've seen these cats perform numerous times, and they always put on a good show. Dope emcees, raw talent, crowd pleasers, for the old and new school.

First time to see them and first time to Fox. The show was great: both were happy to be performing. The Fox was beautiful, clean and the attendants were nice and helpful.

Mos was a bit under the weather. I can't blame him for that. But for a $40 (+$10 ticketmaster markup) you need to hire a band. Or at least get through more material. With one full LP of material, I don't know how they could have skipped so much. That said, I REALLY wanted to like the show.

DJ J Sharp was a great start and full of positive energy. Mos Def/Yesiin Bey was great, working through a rough voice and travel to put on a good show for us.

I've seen Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) & Talib Kweli many times on their own, Black Star once before. The show was great - they played some of their individual songs together (ie, Talib songs with both rapping, etc.) I had hoped we'd get to hear Mos/Yasiin play drums, the way he did on tour a few years ago - but that didn't happen. That said, two legendary hip hop stars and a DJ was pretty fantastic! My only complaint was the sound. We were dead center, up on a few risers, where it should have been great. I didn't love the way it was mixed, too bassy and the words were muffled, too much reverb on Talib Kweli's mic. This is lyrically-driven hip hop. I gotta be able to understand the words of your message!

They tried hard and did OK, but I've seen Blackstar perform better. Mos could barely speak, and when he did, his vocals were in an entirely different register than normal.

I'm pretty content with going to the Fox theater for the first time. Such a great venue. Definitely want to go there again. Blackstar and First Light did a beautiful job and I hope to see both groups again real soon. First Light is album buying worthy bringing in more of that conscious sound from Hiero. Unfortunately there was a long break between intermission, which irked me, but what can you do. Blackstar killed it on stage...however, I'm still longing for them to have played "Brown Skin Lady." Hopefully I'll be satisfied next time with that request...haha.

We were really excited for the show, so it was really unfortunate how bad it was. They came on 2.5 hours after their announced time, snd Mos Def started by apologizing for being tired bc he had just flown back from Hawaii that day. Why he didnt take the flight the day before is beyond me. When they started it soon became clear that they were burned out, flat and Mos def's voice was so horse it sounded like a mediocre local act. Listen to their albums people, but skip their shows.

Had a great time. Black star reminded me why i love hip hop.

It was great to see them back together, if only for a few hours. I had forgotten how incredible this album is until I listened to it for like a week straight before the show.

My husband and I loved the show. I've seen both Talib Kweli and Mos Def on their own and as BlackStar before - Mos was pretty out of it at one show in PDX years ago which was both silly and frustrating. This time they were professional party throwers - great music - so danceable and good interaction with the crowd. BRock from the Beat Junkies did some interesting stuff but missed Hi-Tek's beats. TheeSatisfaction were hot! I hadn't seen them before and was totally into it. I missed the first group unfortunately. Great show! I have to say this venue is so great. The people who work there (bartenders, id-checkers, doormen) are all super nice and it is a venue that doesn't feel too big, too small, too hot, etc. And the women's bathroom is clean!

They sounded amazing! Every note was beautiful, and it is definitely the best concert I have seen in years!

This show was amazing. Black Star went through all the tracks from their debut album and added memorable songs like "Umi Says", "Get By", "Move Something", and "The Blast". The crowd took its time to warm up but ended up singing along and moving a bit. Both MCs complemented each other and didn't sound jumbled. "Respiration" was probably my favorite.

Great show and experience would of enjoyed better opening acts but that is my only negative comment about this concert. This show was a life changing experience. Blackstar is one of the GREATS

Best live hip hop performance I've ever seen without a doubt. Great sound live, and they are both excellent performers. Hearing the blackstar album was great, along w/ some of their new material and their solo works. Not to mention the freestyles. Awesome show. Hope to see them again.

Awesome performance!!! Hands down the most amazing hip hop show!!

The venue: 1. Acoustics were bad. 2. The space was poorly organized: IDs checked in a separate line on the same side as the door but nobody tells you that until you get to the bar on the other side of the venue and can't get in without a stamp. The show: It sounded like some kind of amateur hour: two guys saying something incomprehensible into microphone with a monotonous repetitive beat in the background. I expected a lot more.

Great performance by Black Star, Gabriel T. Kid Hops, and the family.

Being over 21 sure helped make this event Amazing!! If you are over 21 you can eat/drink at the bar prior to the show so you also get first dibs when doors open. I manage to get a spot at the front of the stage and the energy form mos def and Talib was insane, I'm sure even if you were seated in the bar area or standing at the back of the crowd, you had a awesome time. The second act (encore) was ridiculous!! OMG well worth the ticket price.

They killed it son, especially when they came back out for the encore.

Wasn't impressed with the opening acts but when Black Star came out it was on! Real rappers doing real Hip Hop. This is the way it should be done.

The show featured an amazing blast from the past. Classic cuts from the solo and duo albums. Crowd was hip and full of fans. Real hip-hop.

I missed this show 6 years ago and purchased tickets the minute I saw Blackstar was reuniting for this tour. Bottom line, it was amazing to be in a room with no gimmicks, no theatrics; just 2 amazing artists and mics. It was like being at a club and EVERY song is "your song!" Amazing night, even more amazing performance. Can't wait for the next show!

Great show put one by two of the best emcees on the planet. The show started late but that's to be expected by HOB...but nevertheless, Black Star rocked it and it was soooo great to see Common bless the stage on a classic!

I have been telling everyone for 10 years that I need to see a Mos Def concert and finally I got the opportunity to not only see Mos Def but Black Star as a whole and it was worth the wait. Not only did they perfrom the whole album but Mos and Talib performed a bunch of other songs and really just looked like they were having a blast.

Spectacular performance -- so much fun, super high energy & amazing music. These two never disappoint!!
