Susan Boyle
Everyone remembers the moment when they first watched that viral video of Susan Boyle’s live performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” (from the Broadway musical Les Miserables) on the U.K.’s televised talent show, “Britain’s Got Talent.” One minute she was your average church choir member from Scotland, and the next she was an international superstar, being touted as possessing the “voice of an angel.

My friends and I enjoyed her concert. She sang uplifting, inspirational songs, and her backup performers were also fantastic. It's a great idea for a girls' night out on the town.

For the cost of these tickets, I expected a lot better. Susan forgot the lyrics of one song & had to start over; for another song, she tried multiple times to accompany herself on the piano and finally gave up. Sheer vanity! A 10-year-old could have done better. The opening act, and the two backup singers, had fine voices but were so cheesy in their dress and presentation. Susan has a lovely voice but was frequently way ahead of the music. Her attempts at choreography were (unintentionally) hilarious; on the other hand, her 'jokes' were stilted & cringy. And what's with the emcee introducing her by telling the audience to stand and applaud - before she'd sung even a single note??!? I give this two stars despite all this because it was entertaining enough that my husband didn't fall asleep.

I bought tickets to Susan Boyle's concert as a gift to my husband for Father's Day. Couldn't have given him a better present. We both thoroughly enjoyed the concert and he declared it the best concert he had ever attended. I agree. Susan was a delight, her singing was exquisite and we hated to see it end. We agreed it was the first concert we could remember where we wanted it to go on and on. If you ever have the chance to see her, go for it. Well worth every penny!

We enjoyed the Susan Boyle program very much. Susan advised the audience that she had woken up with a sore throat so she had to struggle with some of the high notes. Even so, the program was very enjoyable and the packed house was very appreciative. The staging/accompaniment of the program did not have any of the glitz of a Las Vegas headliner show. But, this made no difference to the audience who were only interested in hearing Susan sing. Susan, the proverbial underdog, has triumphed despite great adversity. Everyone admires her so much and wishes her the very best.

What an amazing concert ! She is so humble and her simple comic comments so endearing. Her voice --- AMAZING !!! What a gift. My mom wanted to see Susan so I got tickets, not really sure I would have gone otherwise. Wow -- so glad I did. Susan is an outstanding performer....sang the top tunes of everyone's favorite from Josh Groban's "You Lift Me Up" to Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" to some classic 60's. I WILL be on the lookout for Susan when some visits NC again ...one of the best concerts I've seen in a while.

She has the most incredible voice ever! Add to that her emotional involvement with EACH song and how she tells a story with her expressions and her voice and it was an experience of a lifetime. No matter what type of song she is singing, she just makes it her own and you think you have never heard it sung so well! She is a fantastic performer and you laugh and cry throughout the concert. You feel like you are part of it, as she involves the audience in each song. You just don't want it to ever end!!!!

We (my wife and I) have attended many events at the N. Chas. Performng Arts Center , and will continue to do so: BUT, Susan Boyle has, to this date, been in catagory ONE in our opinion. What a wonderful PERSON and an excellent performer in her own right. That woman has overcome many pitfalls to become an icon for me and many like me who struggle with daily ordeals. We LOVE HER!!!

We loved Susan's show. The entire audience seemed to love it and her. She was so cute and nice, and down-to-earth -- and boy, can she ever sing! Fabulous! Plus all that, her gowns were very beautiful and she was just amazing. We wish her the best of everything in her tour of the USA.

Susan Boyle did not disappoint. Her voice is so beautiful. She not only sang but talked and kidded with the audience on a fun yet also personal level. The back up singers and choir added to the performance. We will happily attend her next performance in Charleston.

Susan's a wonderful singer - but definitely not an entertainer. When she was trying to 'ad-lib' it came out very stiff and rehearsed. I didn't recognize a few of the songs. Also thought 'Over the Rainbow' wasn't done that well. I was glad to see an intermissionos so we could leave.

The only problem I had during the performance was people sitting to the right and to the left of me on the row below me texting and recording. The light from their phones distracted me from enjoying the performance. So much so that I tapped them on their shoulders and asked them to stop and cut off their phones. They did and I enjoyed the rest of the performance. It was such a pleasure to see a genuine down-to-earth person interacting with the audience and with the community. And, to witness a wholesome performance.

If one is going to this event to hear Susan Boyle live one will be pleased. If one attends expecting to see a show or hear her voice as it sounds on recordings, one may be disappointed. The set is bare and Miss Boyle's performance is awkward. It was uncomfortable to see her so uncomfortable. She did seem to be more at ease after intermission. I'm glad I attended and I will continue to buy her music but I would not attend a live performance again. I am happy for Miss Boyle and her pursuit of HER dreams.

I WAS GOBSMACKED!!! A dream come true for me, to see her in person. I have loved her since I heard the first three notes that the news media sent out after her first audition on BGT. I don't just hear her sing, I feel her voice through my entire body and soul, and tears of joy cascade down my cheeks . The show was outstanding. Love the Band, backup singers and, the beautiful gowns that she wore. Her fame and fortune has not changed her. She is beautiful, witty.and fisty .. I'm so happy that she started her first USA tour on the east coast. Continued success ,happiness and, health to you dear Susan.

Susan Boyle fans were treated to an array of pop standards, hymns and rollicking tunes on Thursday in Charleston. The stage design was excellent and well-choreographed, as were Boyle's three wardrobe changes. Her quirky humor, sense of the ironic and wonderful voice pleased a crowd that supports her and fell in love with her somewhat unlikely triumph into the mainstream. Of course, we were all waiting for her hallmark song I Dreamed a Dream, and she delivered. Alas, it was over too soon for those of us who wanted more encores. Not to worry. She did a great job, and her awkwardness is as endearing as ever, and her success is an inspiration to those of us who, at the age of 47, want to believe that life's achievements are not behind us but just around the corner. Take away: Always retain that hunger to fulfill your most unlikely of goals.

The Susan Boyle Concert with Lance Ellington was the 2nd best concert I've seen. I've seen plenty of entertainers at a variety of locations. The Best Concert was Sarah Brightman at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.. Sarah Boyle is truly talented. When she walked on the stage you knew she owned it ! Music, songs backup, selection of her costumes and lighting were first rate. The Durham Performing Arts in Durham, NC is my favorite location to see concerts in NC. The size, color and arrangement of D-PAC allows it to be a special experience between you and the entertainer. The Best and Grandest Theatre is the Fox in Atlanta. D-PAC is the best in NC

If you've never heard Susan Boyle in concert, treat yourself and go! The audience was absolutely smitten with her during the entire 2+ hours she was on stage! If you don't already love her before the performance, she will make a fan out of you before you leave the concert hall. Susan was born for the stage. She blew us away with her renditions of Wild Horses, Angel, I Can Only Imagine, Cry Me A River & Ae Fond Kiss because she poured her heart & soul into them all. And she had us rocking to Oh Happy Day and River Deep, Mountain High with her singing partner Lance Ellington. Susan's unmistakeable Scottish brogue, her playfulness and her genuinely unpretentious manner endear her to her audience, apparently without her even being aware of it (which of course, makes it all even better). She is a naturally funny, gracious, classy lady. And she was having the time of her life with her fellow musicians onstage! My only regret at the end of the evening was that it was all over too soon. And then, of course, I wanted to hear it all again!

I was thrilled to see Susan Boyle in Jacksonville at the Moran Theatre Nov. 6. Having been at the first stop on her tour, San Diego Oct. 8, I heard Susan announce then that she woke up with a sore throat. To wake up with a sore throat on the opening night of a tour she'd been wanting to do for 5-1/2 years must have been dreadful for her. I believe many artists would have cancelled but Susan soldiered on and even with a sore throat thrilled the audience with 24 songs. Afterwards she was rushed to a specialist who couldn't believe she had performed 24 songs with her throat in that condition and insisted she observe complete silence for 36 hours. Therefore, Susan had to cancel the next tour stop scheduled for Oct. 9 but resumed the tour on Oct. 16. Altogether she completed 17 tour stop prior to reaching Jacksonville, battling her throat problems all the way. She must have been worn out also crossing the country coast to coast on a bus. Susan got a first-hand experience of just how big this country is! The last stop on the tour was Jacksonville. Susan again thrilled us with her 21-song setlist, but could not manage the encore. It was very clear that she had given it 100% and could not do more. Later we were told that besides the throat problems, Susan was completely drained and she was very emotional about this being the end of the tour. She was overcome by the outpouring of affection of her fans at every stop on the tour - standing ovations, crowds waiting at the stage door every night. She also told us that night that it was her mother's birthday and she had a look of sadness in her eyes from the beginning of the show. I know some people have complained that Susan did not complete the encore. For me, I'm just thrilled that she gave us 21 wonderful songs that night. I believe if people had been expecting 21 songs they would have been more than thrilled. Although she was worn out, Susan still greeted her fans waiting at the stage door and spoke with each fan individually and gave each fan a hug. I was particularly happy that my mother was the first to get a hug from Susan and she remarked how Susan listened to her intently when they spoke. Such a great lady in what must have been a low moment for her to think of her fans and to give us memories to treasure forever. Susan Boyle has a great voice and as she has more experience performing at her own concerts, she is becoming a great performer. I'm looking forward to the chance to see and hear her again.

Lovely music. I am an amateur singer and realized she had trouble at the start. Thirty fifth performance? She sang the long high energy "junk song" just before "I Dreamed a Dream" and used up her voice. I saw her losing it and knew she wouldn't finish. She should have done her signature song immediately after break. What a shame. Disappointing. I still buy her CDs. I was in England when she went for finals on TV. All of UK was watching. What happened to Etiquette? People applaud at the beginning and end of each song. When the artist is singing, be absolutely quiet from beginning to end. Then applaud all you want. I want to hear the first and last measures.

I enjoy the Susan Boyle CD I have but her concert was a big disappointment. She could not hit many notes in songs she selected. At the end of the concert her back up musicians encouraged a stand ovation and calling her back on stage for and encore. After several minutes the back up musicians played another number without Susan and the clamor for an encore was repeated. After several more minutes Susan reappeared on stage, started a song, and then abruptly turned and left the stage. Then the curtain dropped ! Weird!! She is obviously is a very temperamental Lady with little appreciation for her audience who pay big bucks to hear her. I wish I had just saved my money and gone to a movie.

I gave this one star because I find her unprofessional in performance. She is a great singer but not a great showman. She tried to joke around with the audience and that fell a little flat. She had a scratchy throat and for her last number only sang three words and stormed off the stage, never returning, and leaving the audience feeling empty and unfufilled. Very disappointed in her unprofessionalism. I would like a full refund for that show. Her first American show was a flop!

Having seen this show 4 previous times, I could tell she was struggling with hoarseness. But she put so much emotion into each song it obviously was both physically and emotionally draining and she was not able to sing the last 3 songs. What she did sing was beautiful and moving. It was well worth the price of a 3rd row ticket and I hope to be able to see and hear her again. She is never boring , and always inspirational.

Overall a pleasing performance. Her amateurish stage presence was over shadowed by an amazing voice. However her desire to be a "professional singer" leaves much to be desired as she abruptly stopped her encore song just as she begun and walked off stage in an apparent "huff". No explanation was given and the curtain was lowered. The supportive audience was left dumb founded and confused. There was a lot of "muttering" as the audience filed out wondering what happened.

Whole performance was overshadowed by her exit, MID-SONG, during her encore. She walked off and never came back. Band was still playing, background singers in place, and MC calling for the audience to applaud louder for her to return. It was like the Von Trapp family escape. I don't know if she was ill, or mad because most of the audience was not standing, or what the problem was. Most unprofessional performance I have ever spent $ to attend,

Susan Boyle really put on a show. She has such an amazing voice and she used it to sing all types of songs. Backup singers and her band added a lot to the performance and the choir of young singers was a really great addition. So happy that we had the opportunity to see and hear her sing after listening to all her CDs over the past few years? Truly an amazing talent!

Susan has a voice with a multiple personality whether the song is touchy, pop, gospel and so on. She also has a charming, comedic personality that an audience cannot resist. I was so glad I came to see her. She is a wonderful reminder that there are good things that happen in this world of ours. If you have the chance to see her, do not pass it up. You won't be disappointed.

Susan Boyle looked great but she could barely move and she had no punch left to her voice. It was as if she was a pre-manufactured, homogenized, cleaned up, toned-down version of herself! We found her voice lacking in soulfulness and the band, all playing from sheet music, had no umph either. There no was sense of excitement, each song sounded like the previous one. We could barely wait for intermission. Susan Boyle's show was disappointing, lackluster and rather than Boyle, it was more like a low simmer!

The more she sang, the more I realized she is a true singer-not a reality show phenom. Her Take on some classics was truly amazing!

From beginning to end, show was top notch and venue was excellent! Susan performed perfectly despite this being very early in her tour. Good variety of songs. She delivered much more than I expected in number of songs and quality of performance. As we left I heard many people say how much they loved it! Definitely recommend!!!

This is one performance in which I feel like I got every penny's worth of enjoyment. Loved her music, loved her interpretations, and loved her. She is a 100% human being who has had a tough life and has turned it around. What an inspiration to us all. Knowing a bit about her life makes me appreciate her bravery in appearing before us. Her voice is a treasure: her musicality is amazing. My only complaint is that, at times, the sound was distorted, and it was difficult to understand the words to some songs. Giving the youth choir a chance to perform was a generous stroke for a seasoned performer.

The show was great! Susan Boyle was more than I expected; her changes in wardrobe and conversation with the audience were unexpected. The male singer (Lance ?) was excellent, as well as the back up singers. The orchestra was excellent, too. The number of songs were impressive, as well.

From the moment we entered , took out seats, I could feel the warmth and anticipation from the audience, Susan came on, started singing and the warmth of the audience for her was very evident. She was funny, awkward at times, missed a few notes, but the quality of her voice when needed was spectacular. Susan held this audience on her every note and smile, a true professional and lady. Such humility is very rare from stars of today but this lady has it all. I have seen some " GREATS" all over the world but never have I left a concert feeling the warmth and happiness I felt when Susan Boyle, the wee Lady from Scotland departed the stage. Just how many stars get a standing ovation during songs, at the interval and many at the end?. A star is born in Susan Boyle. Please bring her back.

She was in full voice in N.Charleston, 10/30. Powerful performance from a wee woman, Unchained Melody, much better than the CD! Gutsy woman, many challenging songs artfully rendered. Under-appreciated talent. Not to be missed. In a nutshell: her voice is full, melodious, and nuanced.

Fun show. Artist sang for a long time and sang a variety of styles from over the years. She has come so far in a fairly short time with the help she needed to go with her talent.

I was so thrilled to be able to see Ms. Susan Boyle in her first American Tour ! The acoustics at the Symohony Hall are amazing. We had great seats and enjoyed every minute of the performance. Susan Boyle is a truly fantastic talent, singing and performing many songs this evening. The staff of the Symphony were delightful. Thanks for bringing this amazing program to Atlanta.

The concert was a real treat for me. I had a front row seat and could really see all the effort and enthusiasm that Susan had for each of her songs. She was a real delight, funny and quite at ease with her audience. I would love to see the concert again. She sang so many songs that I lost count, but I am sure it was close to 20 songs. Lance and the whole team were also quite excellent in their performances alone and as support to Susan's song. I sat right in front of the piano; Kennedy was marvelous to watch. He was also the director for the band. Since I was sitting so close I could see that the musicians really enjoyed playing the songs, and watching Susan sing. Susan, Thanks for a very delightful evening. And thanks to her band, companions, and Atlanta. I hope she returns soon.

Susan Boyle was very entertaining and charming throughout the evening. Her voice was strong on some songs "O Happy Day" and weak on others "The Way We Were" but overall she has tremendous talent. The audience loved her and so did my husband and I.

Absolutely incredible! Two and a half hour concert, which included the Sprayberry HS Choir as back-up singers on three of the songs. Old and new material, lots of funny moments as she talked with the audience. Would go again, and again!

While she can sing, it misses the mark of a true performer. Some songs better than others and her singing was mixed. She could move a little more, very stiff. The male singer and back up singers had better voices and moves than she did.

Boyle's show was great! She's much better in person than on her CD, where her voice is often overwhelmed by the strings. I looked at her USA schedule and can't believe how often she is singing, which made me appreciate her stamina even more. Great job! And a bonus was incorporating a local choir into the performance. Good job, Sprayberry.

The effort to get to this event was well rewarded. Susan gave a performance that demonstrated her vocal range and a variety of musical genres. I found myself on my feet applauding throughout her time on stage. To end her show with her signature song "I dreamed a dream" was just fantastic, the icing on the cake!

I have never been to an event that had so many standing ovations, Ms Boyle has an amazing talent, not only her voice but staying her own unassuming self. Her choice of music was outstanding, her band and supporting voices did a great job. Thank you for coming to Atlanta and giving us the treat of a lifetime.

My friend and I had a wonderful time listening to Susan Boyle on Sunday night. Her first two songs were a little off key but after she warmed up there was no stopping this tiny munchkin from Scotland. She was funny at times dealing with patrons who would shout out their love for her. I enjoyed her upbeat numbers as well as her sentimental offerings. If Ms Boyle was appearing multiple nights I would be there every night. I'll be buying her new CD not only for myself but for many of my friends and family for Christmas gifts.

My wife and I went to the Susan Boyle concert as a birthday present for my wife, because she likes her singing. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect in terms of choreography, etc., so I was surprised. Her singing was fabulous throughout the show. She engaged he audience in several instances and responded positively to audience feedback. The show started with a male singer and two supporting female singers along with a 7-member band. While these supporting groups might go on for a while, this trio only sang two numbers and introduced Susan in a grand introduction with all of the lights, glitter, etc. She sand for about 45 minutes and then closed for about a 15 minute intermission before resuming the second half of the show that lasted for about another 45-50 minutes. We sat in row T of the theatre, which is a little far back to see her facial features, but we had the grand view, so to speak. She was a little bit difficult to understand when she was speaking between numbers, and at times she appeared a little stilted in that role, but I expect that will change as she gains experience. However, there was no difficultly understanding the words to the songs she sang, and she engaged the other singers, the band, and also a group of about two dozen young people that provided background support for some of her songs. My wife thought the concert was fabulous and I concur with her assessment. I would go to another one of her concerts, if/when, she returns to the Atlanta areas. The next time we would sit closer to the stage.

I expected to hear her sing tracks from her albums, but was pleasantly surprised by her banter with the audience and her "naturalness" in putting on a live show. Sure, it was choreographed and scripted for success, but the show was crafted around her talents and what she was comfortable in doing. It all made for a great evening watching and listening to a unique talent who is living her dream. A wonderfully inspirational experience for all concerned.
