I'm a longtime fan of the Melvins. Started listening to them in the early 90's, but I had never seen them live. Each time they were touring through town I've had some scheduling issue. I was stoked to finally see them and they didn't disappoint! Incredible set! The Paradise rock club in Boston is a horrible venue for such a show, but the performance outshines the lack of suitability of the venue. The club layout is just all wrong for a high energy show with a moshpit.

Sum the show up in two words: ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! Buzz and Dale, can I get you to sign my arm with the likes of...Buzz "Melvins" Osbourne & Dale "Melvins" Grover with a skin scribe pen so I can have them tattooed on my arm like I did with The Rolling Stones? Ask me I'll show you both the resulting artwork.

Melvins are the best band in the history of music and they seriously delivered this year. Webster Hall's sound was noticeably great. Fantastic experience.

Other then the 90mins. wait time for them to get to the stage, they were great. Could not wait for their second act but seeing I've seen them @ every show to hit T-Town or Seattle or Olympia didn't mind too much. Love these guys and love the soul they put into each musical note. Much like any other officianado of the eccelctic, be warned of improvs throughout. Much Love and Respect Forever to these guys and their dropped-D Dadaist auditory terrorism.

So, I have seen the Melvins quite a few times. They always rock the house. No exception this time. They played some older stuff to open the show. Then Green River came on. Mark Arm has got to be in his late 40's but was belting out those songs like nobodys business. I was blown away. The Melvins came back on to close out the night and played Houdini in its entirety. Wow, wow, wow.

Great show with an awesome opening band. It was really cool to see fans of all ages enjoying the show. Security was top notch for how crazy the crowd was. And as always, Melvins were there to impress. One of my all-time favorite shows.

This show was absolutely phenomenal. I've been going to Melvins shows for 12 year now, and this was BY FAR the best Melvins show I've ever been to. It was brilliant on so many levels. Just seeing Green River reunited would have been enough of a draw for me, but 2 Melvins for the price of one was unbeatable. The energy was there, the band was tight as I've ever seen, and everyone was having a great time. It was so amazing that I was on the brink of going back down to the venue on the second night to try to get a ticket for that performance too. In the end I decided that was too greedy and that I should let someone else see the show. It was that good.

Melvins 1983, Green River re-union, Buzz and Dale as a duo... then adding Trevor Dunn. It was a beaut. The only bummer was that the Big Business guys didn't make a surprise appearance.

For the first time in years, I got the feeling that the Melvins have truly rendered themselves irrelevant. The original line-up part of the set, where Houdini was played seemed half-hearted in my opinion. It was cool to see Matt Lukin onstage with Buzz and Dale, but even he looked like he couldn't care less. I've always thought the Melvins come to town a couple times a year, you pay too much, but once they pound you with metal for a couple hours, it's usually worth it, and definitely entertaining. The only thing that saved this show from the gutter was the performance of Green River. The grunge pioneers proved why each of them collectively and individually have become music pros. Mark Arm looks like Iggy Pop up there! I'm really glad I got to see them, and felt their live performance was fresh, considering the dated material they played.

Excellent show! Truly one of the best shows I've ever seen. There are moments in life where all things converge, where the chaos briefly changes direction for a spell and utter harmony takes place before returning to chaos - well, the Melvins induced one of those rare moments on that evening. I would get married again if only to have them play at my wedding.

Sped up most versions of the songs. Intro to both sets was very cool. Also the outro drum, bass, vocal madness that ended the show - very cool. I'd have given the show 5 stars if they had not play the songs so fast. Kinda lost the power and epic nature of some tunes. But kudos for pulling it off....best band. Period.

The Show was a great show... once it got started. After standing out in the rain for 30 minutes for no apparent reason, we stood around another 1.5 hours past the official start time. It wouldn't have been as big a deal if there was an opening band. Kinda felt ripped off in the end.

Rehearsed enough to play 2 EPs and 3 long playing albums, and opening for themselves, the Melvins are far from hanging their hat on anything. Get to a Melvins show early, it's the only way to get their unique brand of merch, which stands alone as art.

I was not expecting this good of a show. I came to see one or two of my favorite Melvins songs. They didn't play them, and it didn't matter! This show was killer from start to finish. The singer was strong, and the sound was ferocious. Double drummers pounded out a rythmic masterpiece. They rolled through their songs one after the other with few breaks for even applause. I walked away thinking, "Dollar for dollar this is the best show I've ever seen..." Not to be missed by any hard rock fan.

At long last, after all the years I've waited to see the first and original band that kicked off the grunge movement that held the worlds attention for a decade and sent all the SUB-POP bands into the seat of power and noteriety. I have waited 15 years to see The Melvins live and it was everything I hoped for!! Hard driving, droning harsh tones of raw darkness and pure energy that filled my soul with power. I couldn't help but grab a couple hotties (one on each arm) and dance the rythmic grinding of slow and hard lust. King Buzz, brother you are a genius and hope to see ya put on more and more local shows. Why stay away from Seattle so long? We need and miss the heavy legends of Aberdeen, and I for one will never miss another show in Seattle!! THANK YOU for the baddass grinding heavyness that kicked my ass for hours and hours of dark bliss!

I've seen the Melvins before, and I've seen Big Business before. Great shows both of them, but seeing them together. I would rather see that than Fantomas Melvins Big Band, not to say anything bad about that, just this was much greater to me. Holy god damn the drums were almost too awesome, is that possible? I missed Totimoshi - sorry, I was running late. As far as ISIS is concerned, sorry guys you should have opened your own farewell show you damn near put me to sleep.

As expected, ISIS, Melvins and Totimoshi delivered an excellent performance. There was much merriment and headbanging, and the riffs were often heavier than dark matter. My favorites were Melvins' "the talking horse" and ISIS' "holy tears".

The Melvins show: Heavy guitars. Double barrel drum on drum action. Slow. Punishing. Relentless. Silly. Sublime. That is a rock band. The Melvins have always been a heavy band rooted in the earlier punk ethos of not taking itself seriously, which I think helps them engage with their audience and evolve to keep things fresh. Seriously heavy but also creative and fun. For anyone who cares, which I hope is none, the headliner Isis was pretentious and boring. Heavy music by people who are not as smart as they think they are. I'm glad they are breaking up after this tour. It's not wonder they are breaking up for lack on inspiration. They take themselves waaaaaaaaay to seriously. Completely boring. The general trend of metal for the last 30 years is that when it takes itself too seriously it becomes everything it thinks it's rebeling against.

Why is it billed as Melvins show and they play at 8pm? Melvins kicked ass but it was way too early, I almost missed it. This is NYC, the city that never sleeps I thought? There is no reason a band should be starting at 8pm. Webster Hall is a great spot but I guess they are still too interested in the guidos and jersey shore crowd.

The Melvins can do no wrong in putting on a great show however the crowd was boring and they didn't even want to do an encore. After they played a few songs, lights went up, and everyone disbursed. Columbus lightweight sucks when it comes to highly talented bands. I can't be sure if it was an issue with the venue not allowing an encore, though, either. If that is the case, maybe they need to come back to a different venue like Newport Music Hall. The Melvins deserve a lot better than that crap.

First, Melt Banana. Always a lot of fun. Interesting, fast paced, whacked out, insanity. Grind, punk, metal, noise, with hints of dance and J-Pop. Very nice people too. My only complaint, computer generated percussion. I enjoyed them a lot more, when I saw them in Providence - roughly, ten years ago - with Dave Witte (as fast and precise as any machine) on drums. Second, Melvins. They just rule. They always put on a good live set. And with so many records to pick songs from, their setlist never fails to surprise me. Plus, Dale Crover might be the best drummer alive (at very least, the best rock/punk/metal drummer alive). Third, Napalm Death. Wow! They just blew me away. Danny Herrera has not slowed down at all. He's been playing with this band for 25 years, and still makes blasting that fast look effortless. Barney Greenway has sooooo much energy on stage, and a great sense of humor! And the setlist was incredible. With the exception of the song "Greed Killing", they stuck strictly to their greatest grindcore songs. Classics from Scum, From Enslavement To Obliteration, and Utopia Banished, As well as a great selection of songs from their polished (but still excellent) attempts at going back to their roots from the last ten years.

I went to see The Melvins, who I have seen ten times or so, but I was equally impressed by Melt Banana and Napalm Death. Melt Banana are quite an experience live - very much performance art that shreds. Death Metal is not something I listen to, but Napalm Death's brand of it was riveting. Every Melvin's show that I have been to has been really good, but this one was among the best. Great venue, sold out, four hours of intense and heavy music - what could be better?

A full frontal assault of noise, the Melvins slam three of the five senses into a brick wall of music without any screwing around. The music, tight and finely-crafted metal sludge, is so loud you can "hear" it on every inch of exposed skin as the sound waves punch and pummel you without remorse, creating a tsunami of vibrations so fat your nose will bleed. Not only that, but they're a treat to watch; it's obvious how much each of the members is invested in his performance, and they are so tight they could make a cotton ball bounce. Earplugs recommended, and a note of caution: if you're lucky enough to stand near the speakers, you might want to be on an empty stomach.

Melvins were incredible, as always! Fun set. I really enjoyed the experimental noise segment that they ended the show with. I'm annoyed that I missed part of the set. I saw Dale Crover outside around 6:30, he told us they we're going on at 10:30. We got there at 10:35, and someone told us we missed six songs!! Other than that, had an amazing time. Cool show, with the big lead dude with wild hair; 2 powerful drummers, and thunder pouring forth from the bass. No opening act; they came out and worked their way through mid-tempo sonic jams, disappeared for a break, then came back for a roaring, rollicking show, with just enough tunefulness, shifting tempos, and crushing riffs to keep things interesting. I would like it better not quite so loud; my ears were ringing (bad) for ~24 hours after...

This was an absolutely fantastic show. I saw Soundgarden earlier this month and Melvins completely blew them off the stage--not even close. The energy was phenomenal and it was a no frills show that kicked an unbelievable amount of ass. it was a truly special thing to see these pioneers absolutely killing it for over 2 hours. The venue was great and allowed me to watch dale crover, one of the true masters, up close. The second drummer on tour was also also on point. DO NOT MISS THEM.

The Melvins never ever disappoint. I've seen them over 10 times, granted I wasn't in Seattle or norther Cali when they started, however they only seem to improve. Unsane as an opener was great. Im sorry their drummer couldn't make it, but it was interesting to see the Melvins drumming duo taking turns at filling in. I dont need music festivals or any "new" bands, just get the Melvins, whoever they want to play with and Ill be rocking out like I was 18.

I had the oppurtunity to watch the Melvins play one of the tightest set's i have ever seen any band play. I also got to witness 2 of my favorite albums of all times played back to back with 2 drums. Dale and Coady were so on point that there were times i didn't even think it was real. the sound was amazing and every time they hit the kick drums of thier Tama Starclassic bubinga kits, my heart murmured a little. Buzzo was in his usual garb and did an amazing job in every aspect. Even when he mocked the crowd, they (me included) applauded a little louder. Jarod was also stellar and his voice and bass playing meld perfectly with Buzzo. (I can't wait to see Big Business)It was also rad to see them improvise a little with some of there song. I thought the additions to Boris espeacially were impressive. All in all it was on the best shows i have ever seen.

The Melvins had two dates in Boston this passed weekend. I saw the Saturday show and they performed their albums, Bullhead and Stoner Witch and it was spectacular! My only regret is that I did not get tickets for both dates. Friday they performed Lysol and Houdini and I suspect that show was also fantastic. I won't miss a show when they come around again!
