Iggy Pop

IGGY POP IN CONCERT:Thereís a reason they call Iggy Pop the Godfather of Punk -- he was one of the first to tap into the raw power of rock and combine it with snarling attitude to create a new genre of music. Whether heís swinging the microphone over his head, running around the stage, or contorting his body into a provocative pose, fans canít take their eyes off the uninhibited frontman anytime he performs. Pop oozes rock and roll swagger as he screams into the microphone on ìI Wanna Be Your Dogî, but he's just as compelling when he shifts moods for the cool sexiness of ìNight Clubbingî or the gleeful abandon of ìReal Wild Childî. Now Pop is back on the road with special guests Josh Homme, Dean Fertita, and Matt Helders to bring the Post Pop Depression tour to fans across North America.

Sure Iggi is not getting any younger, but he still has a planty of raw power in him. It was my long time dream to see him in action and I am glad I got a chance to see him and to hear him! It was also nice to see the well aged people going to the concert with their teenager kids. And the kids were prepared! They knew the alone and they could sing along. My sit was a bit far from the stage, but after all it does not matter.

Great band and iggy was awesome. My only problem with the show was his choice of songs. I thought could of did a few more hits, and at least 1 from Brick by Brick. He left a lot out .

A great event, venue,Band. Iggy as a front man can not be beat. 68 years old and you would have not known it at his fox show. He filled the people at the fox with his energy, loving and talent with all he had. He gave it his all and us back to him. Leaping in to the pit, and at the end running 10 rows deep in to the audience to make us feel as if he really loved us , Detroit and what he does. Josh, Dean, and the band,I think , had as much fun as all of us did. I don't think Iggy was just giving lip service to us when he said," F... London,F..Paris..F.. LA... you are the best" Iggy pulls no punches. To you man thanks, I felt special to be there!!! God speed to you Iggy and the whole band. A true legend!

Great concert. He gave his all and seemed appreciative of being in his hometown. He kept having the house lights turned up so he could see everyone, He sounds just as good as he was thirty years ago. Geez, did I really just say that?

This concert had a lot off in energy! He was a joy to watch from diving into the crowd at 68 to running around that stage like he was still 25. His interaction with the crowd was really amazing due to the fact that many performers don't do that much anymore! The only downside was the sound wasn't great for his show! I was in a balcony box and his voice wasn't clear. I couldn't make out the words to many of the songs! Still had a great time!

The Post Pop Depression tour is phenomenal! Caught Iggy Pop in Chicago just 3 days ago. He was backed by Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, along with other queens and gents from Arctic Monkeys, Chavez, and the Dead Weather. Homme and company kept their energy up throughout the show, dancing and hopping around as they strummed their guitars with theatre and played their synths and drums with fervor. The marquee man, Iggy himself, was the real surprise, though. At the tender age of 68, the guy was all over the stage. He was -um- humping PAs, shadow boxing his enemies, confronting the crowd, reminiscing, tenderly thanking the crowd, and just lighting the damn stage up. He is taking a victory lap, and it's a very well-deserved one. Iggy is the guy. Period.

This was one of the best live Iggy shows I've ever seen in my lifetime. With Josh Homme at the wheel, they both rocked the stage in a presentation that showed their love for rock 'n' roll. By adding a new sound to some of Iggy's best songs, they made his sound new and fresh.

I have seen Iggy multiple times and have truly enjoyed each show. However, this show was easily the best. The band's sound was fatter, with at times three guitars, and the orchestration of old songs was fresh and alive. Even the first song I heard from the new album has evolved and become heavier. The lack of Stooges songs, the choice of late '70s material and the new album allowed the show to be distinct, which can't be said of hardly any performer with five decades of experience. I could go on and on, and I wish that Iggy will too. But if this is his swan song, he's still got them all beat.

I first saw Iggy when he toured the Idiot album with David Bowie playing keyboards in the backing band. This tour and album had similar energy and dynamics. The retro-ish stage set set a different tone for Mr. Pop and the band wearing matching jackets in a nod to entertainment styles of the past was charming. Josh Homme & Band provided a tight, energetic and dynamic framework for Mr. Pop to really excel at being himself. (someone needs to put this man in the Smithsonian, as no one can do what he does, and I doubt they ever will). Relying on the wonderful new album and most of the Bowie-produced Idiot and Lust for Life, it was an energetic, mesmerizing and wonderful show. It was one of the first shows in ages where people weren't fiddling with their phones or talking. Everyone was hooked from the opening note, to the last bit of applause. I hope this isn't the last album and tour, but the start of a new fruitful collaboration!

Great, great show. Iggy can still bring it with a very powerful voice and stage antics, although not as quick or animated like he used to do it, but still a very commanding presence. Terrific set of songs, many old, a few from his new album. Backing band was adequate and in some instances very good, but of course Iggy is the man!

The opening act was good and sound was great. Iggy put on a good show. His vocals sounded awesome, the band put on a good performance but the sound was hit or miss. Too much high end, hardly any low end. My biggest complaint which ruined the show for me was the improper seating. We were moved 3 times during the show because they sat people in the wrong seats. I love Iggy and am quite happy with his set list. The problem with the show was that he was in front of the band and out of the view of the balcony for nearly the entire show. I hate to write negative reviews about Iggy but this show was not very good. Played his whole new cd with several older Iggy songs thrown in. The sound was bad, every song sounded like a bunch of noise instead of music. The band was nothing special unless you like the bass overpowering the rest of the band. Sound board never adjusted the bass. Even the three or four older songs weren't very good. I've seen Iggy many times but this was very disappointing.

69 years old - one leg 3 inches shorter than the other... but DAMN did he put on a show. Very much a top 10 shows of the year shoe in. When he walked... he looked like Kaiser Saujet before the big reveal... the guy is a freaking mess... I mean, if I saw him at Shop-A-Lot I would be offering to carry his groceries to the car... but when the music was playing, he was a freaking gazelle!!! Unabashedly shirtless, numerous stage dives, hip shaking, sprinting... it was nothing but net one song after another. The set was limited to only Iggy Pop solo disks (no Stooges) and of course tracks off the Post Pop Depression disc, which worked out well... the closer Here Comes Success is now one of my favorite live music moments of my life. From the moment Iggy first walked out, you could see, there was no where in the world he would rather be... he beamed exuberance, waving at the crowd, smiling ear to ear between each song... this tour is his victory lap, and he is spinning donuts non-stop all the way to the finish line. Musically the show was flawless... you might get pissed when I say this, but Josh Homme was exactly where he should be... in a band member and music director position... I love Queens, but JH is not a front man. His guitar work on this tour is stellar, and the arrangements are amazing. There was an extended version of China girl with about a 8 minute instrumental tacked on at the end... it was soaring. The twin lead guitars rivaled classics like Layla and Sweet Jane... hats off to Josh, I could not dig him more.

This show was unbelievable and to have a chance to see Iggy cover the majority of the Idiot and Lust for Life, was probably something I would have regreted missing till the end of my days. Seeing members from QOTSA be the band, well that was icing on the cake. Josh sounded amazing as I have often considered Josh and Queens as the reinvention of rock and roll. Having grown up on Iggy, David and Lou, I can't even describe how excited I was to see this show. it was a little before my time as I was only 10 when the Idiot was released, but it remains some of my favorite work from Iggy with David producing. The new album is great as well and is reminiscent of those albums in my opinion, with a twist of Josh in that mix. These guys were excellent, just excellent.

Its nice to see those who have worked their way to stardom continue to build rapport with their fans- walking through the seats, surfing the crowd, waving and carrying a conversation. From opener Lust For Life it was non stop pounding energy.Iggy was in good voice with as much energy as you would expect from a beat up 68 yr old punk! The band led by Josh Homme was clearly having a ball,as most of the material was from Homme's fave albums,Lust For Life and The Idiot.Everyone dancing around, smiling on stage, having as much fun as the audience.Ig did more talking to the crowd than I have ever heard, giving props to The D,to rousing cheers!Did not mention David Bowie in name but talked about his time in Berlin with the song German Days and doing 6 songs from new album. This tour very well could be his last of this type as he has said in magazine interviews. But I'll bet he has more to say,so i'm hoping to hear more material in the future.Iggy truly is one of Detroit's music Icons!!

I really don't know how better to say it than the title above. Iggy was full of energy, the band was tight, the music was awesome, the staging was minimal but effective. The usual things you would expect happened: Iggy coming onto the stage with a suit jacket on over a bare chest; the jacket coming off after about 3 numbers; the stage diving; crowd surfing; singing from the main floor; some reminiscing about the old days; and yes, the liberal usage of certain language. If you didn't leave there wondering where a guy his age gets his energy from, then you must have slept through the show. And I doubt anyone did that! And all at The Fox. A bit of an oxymoron for him - and a far cry from many of the early places like the Grande - but who doesn't love that place?

Iggy was in good form. Josh Homme really ripped it up on guitar, and the band was very tight. WIsh they did a few more classics like 1969, Dog, Search and Destroy, and 5 foot 1, but it was a fantastic show. Iggy surfed the crowd a little and came up into the aisles.

What an awesome show this was last night! It was so Goth in the very best possible way. Iggy was in full crooner mode... And killing it. Iggy is amazing! He is s 69 and has the energy of a 30 year old. The show was great and he sounded really good. The only thing that prevented my review from being five stars is that he played almost the whole new album and too few classics. Always love a concert I can just stroll up the street to in my neighborhood, and the United Palace Theatre certainly chooses their shows carefully. This vaudeville relic was packed to the rafters tonight for Iggy Pop, complete with a well rehearsed and super tight power outfit of a backing band. Iggy never fails to disappoint and this show was solid from start to finish. Opening with Lust for Life, Iggy and his group set to the tone from the very beginning. Was pleased to hear a homage to his friend David Bowie in there with China Girl. The new songs weren't half bad either. If this man is at the end of his career, you wouldn't know it....

For this tour, Iggy is backed by some rock geniuses: Josh Homme, Dean Fertita, and Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age, and Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys. What you'll get is awesome musicianship with Iggy's crazy stage antics. It's hard to believe Iggy is almost 70, because he is so high energy through the show. His singing voice is still solid, and even though he has a limp, he moves all over the stage, stage diving and running into the crowd. Iggy and the band played a lot of songs from Post Pop Depression, but it was nice to hear classics like Lust for Life and Passenger. This show is a must-see. You won't regret it.

Loved every second of this concert. Iggy was in top form, his voice strong and his energy uplifting. His band was perfection. Wish I could see him play again!

Best Iggy Pop show I've ever seen. He sounds great, has the same amount of energy, if not more, and a great set list with a really good, tight band.

This was my first(and most likely, my only) time that I got to see Iggy Pop and he put on a heck of a show. Extremely glad that I got to see him once in my lifetime!

My husband and I are both huge Josh Homme fans, especially Queens of the Stone Age. We also both love Iggy - although he prefers the Stooges whereas I love his solo stuff, especially the Bowie records. I knew I would love this collaboration as soon as I heard about it and I was right. It took a little longer to grow on my husband, but now he loves it too. Iggy has pushed his body to its limits performing live all these years and it shows. But his voice is still magnificent, even with a cold he claimed to have and apologized for. He still sounds amazing. And his voice with Homme doing background is just so sexxxy! I'm so glad we got to see this live. Josh has said Iggy is one of his biggest heroes and you could tell by the way he and the rest of the band were dancing and smiling ear to ear the whole show. This was one for the ages!

I've been following Iggy for over 40 years and finally got to see him Live. He did not disappoint and had the entire audience completely spellbound. He was very entertaining and even though he mentioned that he was sick and it was affecting his higher register but he gave all he had, The show was wonderful and his band was Super! Really a great show...Wouldn't miss it if I were you.
