Hot Chip

Hot Chip lights up the dance floor every time they take the stage to deliver their inventive, synthesizer-driven take on electronic pop. In addition to traditional instruments like guitar, bass, and drums, this British septet incorporates a bevy of synths, drum machines, and unexpected samples to produce their infectious grooves in concert. The resulting sound is monumentally funky, endearingly quirky, and impossible to deny. Dance floor anthems like “Don’t Deny Your Heart”, “How Do You Do It?”, and “Burning Up” are guaranteed to have you shaking your booty and breaking a sweat.

Great site and great party with Hot Chip! We're from Barcelona (Spain) and we were on vacation for several U.S. cities. When we learned that they would be in Philadelphia we think of buying tickets in advance but just a month ago we saw in the Sonar festival in our city. The place we liked and how soon we were in the front row. Chromatics good openers too!

It was hot in the crowd and humid throughout NYC last night. The forecasted rain would have been welcome at one point, and the show would have went on. In fact, vocalist and synth player Joe Goddard was away on paternity leave and represented by a floating head, kind of like Marlon Brando as Jor-El. I hope his kid has super powers. But I wish I'd skipped this show. The crowd was more fun during Hercules and Love Affair, who were a solid opening act. But while the headliners played, everyone seemed more content to crowd in, smoke and record the show with their phone or camera rather than dance. I saw Hot Chip at the Phoenix in Toronto on their last tour, and it was an amazing show. I know what they're capable of live. Alexis Taylor sounded sheepish as his invited the crowd to an after-show DJ set at Brooklyn Bowl. As well he should have.

This is the second time I've seen Hot Chip live and they do not disappoint. Their live show is energetic and full of surprises. They change up and remix their songs in medley-like fashion. If you're looking for a show to move your feet, don't let Hot Chip pass you by.

This was a killer concert. Loved every minute of it. Would see them again any opportunity I had. Amazing vocals live, and dig the way they play in concert, slight tweaks to instruments and sounds of the original tracks. My only issue was how packed that show was and there were some really obnoxious shovers and just people who threw some mad elbows into my sides. I just want to dance.

Place was bumpin'. Sold out show. Sound quality was impeccably mixed. Excellent stage performance and crowd interaction. The Riv. is always prime for loud without losing certain frequencies. I can't say enough good things about the show. I bet the maintenance crew had to tighten some bolts around the place the next day. btw the drummer/sampler in the XX is amazing to watch/hear.

The show lacked the house shaking attack that I remembered the band for. The unannounced opening act put the crowd to sleep and it took 50 minutes between sets while we stood there with the house lights up waiting for the band. Hot Chip played barely an hour's worth of music and said goodnight. Hot Chip has lost their raw, energy filled edge and now are have gotten big enough that they can suck and still sell out a venue.

Hot Chip took me up to cloud nine. The bands energy enveloped the audience and everyone was dancing. I was surprised by how impressive the vocal combination when Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard sang in unison because each voice is so different but they balance one another. I can't wait to these guys again, it was by far one of the best shows that I've seen in a while.

Hot Chip was one of the best shows I have ever seen! It was amazing! Each of the performers was multi-talented; they each played many instruments and vocals as well. The Riviera was packed body-to-body, but it was so worth standing in the crowd! If you get a chance to see this band! DO IT! (Lallapalooza is coming this Summer!)

Hot Chip put on a high energy show that will make you dance. They played a good mix of old and new songs. They ignored most of their quieter ballads which was fine by me. They kept the energy up during most of the show.

The most remarkable part of the show was when the crowed went nuts after The XX left the stage. Never before have I seen an audience insist that the opening act return for an encore. When the techs began breaking down their equipment and setting up Hot Chip, the audience hissed and booed. Even when Hot Chip took a break before their encore, the audience again began to chat "XX". The most unremarkable part of the show was The Fox's lame acoustics. If not for The Fox always sounding so lame it would have been a four star show.

The XX got the show started. They did what they do, play dreamy soft rock with a tinge of R&B. They played well. But I really wish the percussion was louder. Hot Chip played songs from many albums, but besides one song, the crowd really wasn't into it. I mean, they play dance pop/rock music. But no one was really moving. People at the very front were stoic. I wasn't really feeling it so i decided to walk around for the second half of the show. Overall, not a bad show, just not what I was looking for.

I went to their concert to see The XX who were the opening band that night. The XX was good (a bit too big a venue for them perhaps, but it was nice anyway). But I really can't understand how these two bands got to play together. I hated Hot Chip and left after 5 songs, which I usually never do. Sounded like pathetic dance music from the 80's (the worst of it). Totally miserable.

Well honestly this show was rather dissappointing. Omar Souleyman's set had no energy and could not to be heard over the throngs of people showing up late. Michael Angelakos, of Passion Pit, could have easily been drunk as he sloppily sang most of the material from Chunk of Change and Manners but very little from the album they're touring with, Gossamer. Most of the songs just sounded like bad versions of tracks off the album and many unique bits of the sound that could have been played live, like the sax on "The Reeling", was just a playback as the band stood around. Hot Chip was by far the best of the night though, with a good mix of new and old, steel drums and bongos, and a great presence with the crowd. However, all of the bands were plagued by sound issues that would seem to have been The Bowl's fault. Souleyman was quiet and only into the set was the volume increased a bit, although it was still rather difficult to hear. Another problem could have been the problem that the KCRW host never showed up to the concert, and Souleyman just started playing without introduction. Passion Pit was loud although every once in a while random aspects of the sound like bass and treble were bumped for a few seconds to a minute. You couldn't hear the guitars in Hot Chip although this didn't stop frequent feedback issues although at least the set was loud! I was really looking forward to all three performances but in my opinion only Hot Chip delivered a really good show.

Hot Chip played a wonderful performance in BK's Prospect Park. Awesome venue, quick moving ticket lines, access to varieties of beer however that afternoon it POURED cats and dogs... many though the show would be cancelled/postponed. Hot Chip showed up and played on... for only an hour and ten mins. SUPER short show. ended by 10:10. As a dedicated fan, who trekked out to BK on a weeknight, it was disappointing and I think the band should have given it their all... another 20 mins would have done the crowd proud and made the crappy weather, transit to BK and standing on the muddy ground worth it.

Terminal 5 has phenomenal sound, but if you come there early and have good spots, hang onto them. Unless you're the first row on any of the mezzanine, you will see diddly squat. Buddy system gets the job done. Hot Chip is one of my top bands and they sure put on a hell of a show. I love the fact their "sound" changes between performances, they are constantly experimenting and trying to improve their melodies. I love seeing artists grow in real time. See them if you can

After heavy storms, Hot Chipdid their thing in Brooklyn. Considering the outdoor venue, the sound was excellent and music was very enjoyable. They played a brilliant gig. The reason I deducted a star is because I thought the set was a bit short. To their credit though, it was a charitable event so they may not have been getting a whole lot for it. I've seen them twice before and they do rank as one of my favourite live acts.

I have seen Hot Chip live in Chicago 3 times now and I absolutely have to say first and foremost that they always put their all into their shows. They're high-energy, even all the band mates are jumping around as they play, really getting into it which makes for an excellent atmosphere. The only slightly disparaging thing I have to say relates to the venue- the Riviera is not a very good place to see a concert because of the design of the auditorium. Anyone who wasn't in one of the first few rows has almost no sight-lines because the slope of the floors don't do much for staggered viewing angles. I have seen them previously at the Vic and at the Metro, both of which are much better for seeing the band on stage, the Metro especially. That said though, Hot Chip put on such a great show that you didn't have to see them to get down and dance to the music, speaks to their talent as live-performers.

I was looking forward to Hot Chip for my Fox Theater deflowering. I got loge tickets. The seats in that area are large and set in pairs with cocktail tables in between. The rows are far apart, so there's plenty of legroom. Of course the renovated Fox is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The youtube videos of the opener, Yacht, were enticing, but the sound was unpleasantly muddy. I hoped this would only be a problem for them, but the larger number of instruments in Hot Chip just made the sound worse. The vocals were too prominent and disasterously out of tune at the beginning, and the sound was even more muddy. There was a weird emphasis on the center frequencies. We left early, and werent alone in doing so.

The show was pretty good. Hot Chip did and awesome job and had lots of new variation on old classics. the only real downside to the event was the sound levels were poor. They boosted the bass way too much and so overall the sound was really muddy. At times it was really hard to hear the guitar or synth parts while the vocals and drums were very clear. The venue could use some improvement either on it's sound system or just the sound guy himself needs to balance out the bass more.

Hot Chip + Hollywood Bowl was a great combination. The set could have been longer but I think they were restricted. We got there early for Passion Pit and in my opinion they were Coldplay - light (whispy, lightweight and just OK). But Hot Chip had great energy and sound. Would definitely see them again.

What a fantastic show! Couldn't have asked for a better sunday evening. Weather, per usual, was great. I wished Passion Pit went second but once Hot Chip started playing I forgot all about PP.

I could hardly understand the vocals for both acts. I thought maybe it was just Passion Pit because I had never seen them live, but then Hot Chip came on and there was the same problem. The music was still good, though. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Omar Souleyman. Fun, interesting music to get the crowd pumped up.

Hot Chip was great! The House of Blues is the worst venu ever. I've been to shows here before and wasn't impressed, and this was the last straw. I will never go there again, which is a shame because they have a lot of shows coming up that i would love to go to. Bottom line...if you ever see that Hot Chip is in town - GO! but NOT if it's at the House of Blues...

I'm a fan of hot chip, although this show was kind of disappointing. We arrived around 10p, and only got to hear about 5 songs. The concert was over and we were out the door at 10:45. Sad, b/c I felt like just as we were all starting to get into the music, it was over. I feel like he should have been able to play until at least midnight!!

Hot Chip is my favorite live band. They rocked it. Everyone was dancing the entire time and they sounded amazing. I wish I could live it over again. They are truly an amazing group to see perform live.
