I have been following Tool and MJK since the late 90's due to RATM in know your enemy, and to see this one man Maynard grow and make such great music that sounds like no other bands is Rare in my books; he is one of the all time greatest. CINQUANTA is exactly what I anticipated, especially since it's Maynard's "50" birthday and just to say I attended such a great event at the Greek was a privilege.

Boring, uneventful, poorly managed questions, seemed to lack Any proper prior planning and just felt like an excuse to make money.. if that was the only reason then kudos

Everyone who reads this and didn't make it should be jealous they missed the most amazing event (plural if you went both nights like we did). You better hope the film taken will turn into a movie. ALL groups were amazing. Yes, there were more than the 3 advertised. At the end of the second show, at least Maynard said something like "See you soon".

the night was just one mind-blowing moment after another. like being invited to this party of a group of musicians who happen to be some of my favorite of all time.... hearing all these songs I have such relationships with, in a setting that felt so intimate. everyone there was riding the same wave, including the musicians... and you could feel it. seeing them hanging out on stage, drinking wine and taking pictures made us feel like they were just as excited to be there witnessing the event as we were. Maynard held up his cup to toast the crowd a couple of times making us feel like he was happy we were there and that is a very good thing to feel from a musician we have loved and respected for so long. seeing Failure was like getting to go back in time and it gave me goosebumps when they started playing my favorite songs! the surprises were all great but Danny Carey being there and getting to hear Sober was the highlight for me. the only thing that could have made it even better was if Adam had been there! I am so grateful to have been there to experience that night. Unforgettable!!

A celebration of Maynard James Keena's 50th birthday turned into a special event for all involved as Failure, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle played an amazing mix and match show with the members of all three bands mingled on stage sipping drinks while the others played... They were joined late in the show by Green Jelly and two other members of Tool for an amazing finale... Amazing show. Remarkable venue. It will be a treasured memory.

Honestly, one of the best shows I've ever been to. The sound quality was amazing, the variety of acts was incredible. As a surprise, they brought out Green Jello and sang 3 Little Pigs. The crowd went nuts!!! They had the costumes and everything, it was insane. And if that wasn't enough, they brought out the guys from Tool and did Sober. We lost it!!! If you missed it, I'm so sorry. This was a once in a lifetime event and I will never forget it. Happy Birthday Maynard! And thank you for an awesome show!!!!

I've come to expect quite a bit from shows that musical master Maynard James Keenan puts on. His vocals were spot on as well as Carina's and Billy's. The show was full of surprises especially when Danny Carey showed up to play a few songs for the event. Over all it was one of the best shows I've seen and I can't wait to see what's next for Maynard and his many projects.

I have seen a lot of concerts over the years but cinquanta at the Greek was the best. MJK celebrated his birthday and performed with apc and puscifer . The bands stayed on stage all night and played interchangeably between each other. There were no set changes!! Awesome job Maynard. I also look forward to returning to the Greek as the venue is amazing in an outdoor woodsy like venue.

There are very few things that will make me fight 2 hrs of rush hour traffic into San Francisco after work, but this was one of them. It was well worth it. It was so cool and interesting to listen to Maynard speak about his book. He is very humble, spiritual (in a non-irritating way), very interesting and surprisingly funny. The time flew by. I can't wait to read his book!

The event was very good.. I had hoped to be able to ask a question but didn't know you were supposed to submit a question prior I guess... I still don't know how anyone was selected.. I like Kim Thail from Soundgarden a lot but I thought his long winded questions to Maynard took away from just letting him speak.. His move to California fell short of any discussion on how the band Tool was formed. Maybe it's in the book I haven't read yet?

It was shorter than expected, was great to receive a book and cd, the mc could add to the experience by attempting to draw more out of Maynard vs interjecting so much of herself vs meaningful dialogue/questions. The readings were amazing, the visuals were wonderful. The Q&A was clunky, i'm sure this will improve over time? A screen projecting a larger image of Maynard is a must, no one in the balcony could make out any details at all it was one big blur.

MJK is a superbly talented artist who puts great care into the finished product, whether it's music, wine, his book, or the art that accompanies those things. The presentation at Sixth and I (7pm) was dissapointing because neither he nor the moderator, Roxy Myzal, were prepared and they frequently were not on the same page. Instead of asking questions that could elicit a thoughtful answer or different perspective to MJK's like story, Ms. Myzal repeatedly said "tell us about the time you [walked from Boston to Michigan]." MJK seemed confused by the "questions" and uncomfortable responding. On more than one occasion, a topic raised by Ms. Myzal caused MJK to say he didn't want to tell stories that were in the book, prefering to leave it to the audience to read. That's fine; however, MJK and Ms. Myzal should have worked that out in advance. A Q&A session with the audience seemed to annoy MJK.

I had never been to an event like this before. I consider myself an avid fan of Mr. Keenan's work and was eager to attend. The venue was great, however; sitting in the top section I had a hard time hearing (might have to blame that on all the blasting of Mr. Keenan's music at beyond reasonable levels and not so much the venue. Since this event was (I believe) one of the first, and was not long at all after the release of the book I felt like it might not have evolved as much as it is likely to after more events and when readers have had time to absorb the work. That being said, it might have kept the author somewhat on his toes in not anticipating what his fans would ask. Wish I could attend one of the later events to see how it has grown.

I was a little disappointed with the preparedness level of the moderator, Roxy Myzal. She seemed disorganized and flustered, flipping through her binder trying to find questions that Maynard didn't think would take away from the book for people who hadn't read it yet. I was lucky enough to get a copy pretty early and was about halfway through it before the event, so I understood the significance of the music that played while we were waiting as well as the opening song and the bird theme... even the Twizzlers that Roxy brought on stage but never presented to Maynard. I thought we'd have an open Q&A session after the talk but the questions were pre-selected and I never knew about that happening despite paying lots of money for 2 VIP tickets. One of the people who was selected to ask their question wasn't even there so they just read it off the paper... No matter what, being able to experience this conversation with Maynard was an unforgettable moment that I know I'll hold on to for the rest of my life. I wish I had been able to ask my questions but I'll just hold on to them in case another opportunity arises down the road.

Dropped $250 on a VIP ticket and was super excited to see this event..waited well over two hours for start. The overall event only lasted an hour. You could barley make out anything Maynard was saying (very soft spoken and kind of slurs his S's). The swag that came w the VIP package..kinda cheap. It was cool getting to be in a close environment with him, but, as much as it hurts to say, I don't think I would recommend this event to anyone. Save your money for the next concert!

I am a giant Tool fan and drove 8 hours to check this out. It was the first of this type of an event for me so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Sound quality hurt for sure, the place was pretty echo-ey and Maynard wasn't always too easy to hear as his voice varied. For me, it felt too restrained, too controlled. We all know Maynard is a very private man but the discussion was so tempered, lacking depth in my mind. I will read the book for sure but hope it is more revealing then the in-person angle.

This gig coincided with my visit from the UK so I couldn't miss out on attending both nights of Cinquanta - and it was worth the mileage. As APC haven't been over to the UK in years, and have yet to host any Puscifer gigs, it was a treat to see Maynard in his many incarnations - especially as we got a taste of Tool on the Saturday night and some bonus drumming from Danny Carey on Sunday.

While it is hard to describe everything that made this show great, it was fantastic! Great performances by all, and the sound was amazing. You could hear everything that anybody was doing clearly. It is hard to find that at some shows, and with such great musicians... you want to hear everything. My only gripe would be that I wish more songs were performed by A Perfect Circle. It appears that Maynard favors Puscifer more, so we got more songs from the latter as opposed to the former. Members of all bands were on stage for the whole show, and rotated the whole evening by playing a few songs from each band for the whole show. And there was an appearance by Danny & Justin from Tool for the performance of Sober, as well as a song from Green Jello... if anyone remembers them!

Cinquanta was a 50th birthday party for Maynard Keenan the lead singer for the bands Tool, Perfect Circle and Pusifer held at The Greek Theatre in LA. The 3 bands on the bill rotated sets while the others hung out in a BBQ party setting on stage. Loved the format and would love to see other bands play like this. a festive atmosphere as all the bands continued to play mini sets though out the evening, it made you feel like they were all jamming together not just playing a set and gone. On a gorgeous spring night hearing the sounds of Perfect Circle, Pusicfer and Failure blowing through the Hollywood Hills you couldn't help but feel like you were apart of one big 50th birthday bash!

This show was amazing! We got tickets last minute for the Sunday performance. The seats ended up being fairly close, which was impressive given that we waited to get our tickets. The bands played for a consistently entertaining 3 hours, alternating between performers and bands. The on stage antics including Green Jelly at the end, made the show extra special. Friends came from all over America, Canada, Mexico, & Australia to experience this special event. Amazing! I count myself one of the lucky ones who were able to see both shows. I can't say one show was better than the other .. for they were very different. -night 1 I experienced with a dear friend, and a group of new friends. -night 2 I was by myself ... and i cried at the beauty which I was witness to. As a long time APC fan, seeing them perform songs like "The Hollow" and "Blue" was absolutely amazing. Failure was ok but I didn't particularly enjoy them. Puscifer had a very interesting mix of stuff (which I expected) but the end segment of the show, from 3 little pigs to the end felt very different than the rest of the show, almost jarringly so. Pleasantly surprised by Maynard's crowd interaction. Wasn't expecting any but he had a bit of back and forth, which was nice. Overall, definitely worth going to, especially for APC fans, but be prepared for Puscifer, which represented a good 30-40% of the show's content.
