We had great seats, about 25 yards from the stage. Imelda May gave it her all and the band was great. Playing guitar was her husband, who looked like Bill Haley. I wished he would have done some singing too, he did a great job on the Jeff Beck PBS concert. I would think Imelda May would have to give her voice a rest after a show, she gave it her all.

Imelda May hit the stage at the Brighton Music Hall like the energizer bunny. Like her cover of A train kept a rollin, she rocked and rolled all night long. She worked the songs and the crowd. The show was fantastic, as was her band who kept up with May's energy. I highly recommend seeing Imelda May if she comes your way. You won't regret it.

As I watched and listened, I consciously thought Imelda May has the gift of musicality in her soul.. And she shared it with a packed house at the Brighton Music Hall Saturday night. The time flew by as Imelda and her amazing band drew the crowd in.. Dancing, singing and great spirit filled the Music Hall.. She was fabulous. I'd go see Imelda May again in a heartbeat, and bring friends and family, too..

What an unforgettable show. Imelda is a fantastic singer and her band had the Mercury Lounge rocking from the first note to the last encore. The crowd was groovin to the rockabilly swing and being in such a small intimate place was amazing.I first saw her with Jeff Beck and fell in love with this sound and this Irish siren. If you get a chance to see her dont think twice ...you will love her too.<3

Wow! This show was just amazing. I had a better experience with this show than I did when Wanda Jackson played @ El Rey. The show street 45 minutes later versus the one hour at Wanda's show, with the amazing and handsome band Omar and the Stringpoppers. The opening act sure got the audience ready for Imelda May. She on the other hand was magnificent!!! Her vocals are amazing and I appreciated how she connected to the audience by giving small explanations about certain songs and smiling at the audience. Both bands were great performers and I look forward to attending any concerts they have or participate in.

The El Rey Theatre is an excellent-sized venue for a close-up experience with an artist; it showcases their talent (or lack of!). Imelda May is very comfortable on stage, making her delivery look easy, and she commands your attention. The audience obviously "got it", as they remained respectful during quiet passages, and even participated well during the dreaded "sing-along"- after all, this is L.Al! Imelda moved between her songs and nuggets from Soft Cell's "Faded Love", to even Howlin' Wolf! Her Irish heritage has given her soul, and an understanding of the blues to pay proper respects to those genres. She often gives props (well due) to her band, including the very talented Darryl Higham, who is also her husband. Before the set, we discovered people came from all over to see her- even one guy from San Francisco. Come back soon, Imelda!

Imelda May was so amazing. She and her band blew my mind away! I had never seen such great performers in my life. I am a musician, and I could honestly say they have the best of the best solo performers and players. Every note, every rythm was unforgettable. Their stage presence was so awesome. This concert blew my mind. Imelda and her band do an amazing job fusing the blues/jazz with rockabilly. I know that personally, I am going to have to see Imelda May and her band again and again.

An amazing, tight, rocking set by Imelda May and her band. From blues to rockabilly, Imelda captured the rock essence of each genre, and not just brought it to life, but exploded beyond. I was dancing the whole performance through and could barely tear my eyes away from the stage. They were amazing to watch, amazing to listen to, and I highly recommend everyone check her out. Her Irish accent was charming, I wish she had talked to the audience more between songs. Also, she carried that whole retro look effortlessly. I suspect every guy in the room was in love with her by the end of her set.

She is a white hot performer, song writer, singer, and talent..... no reason why she could not fill much larger venues. In addition to her wonderful talent on stage, the band really does a fantastic support job, and each member can shine individually during songs. She is a star! A musical gift from Dublin, with music that is normally thought of as American, but she obviously has a gift for belting out songs with gosspil, rockabilly, blues, and jazz influences....Awesome!!!!

What can you say, it's Imelda May, she is singing perfection. If you like Rockabilly type music this is for you, if you like great singing talent this is for you. Such a pleasure to see such a big star in a little, close up venue. Paradise rock club isn't the best venue I've ever seen, but good enough. Tough to get a good view cuz it's so flat, and the stage is not much higher than the floor, viewing is just so so.

Imelda May at the Birchmere simply was fantastic. The Birchmere is a fine venue and Imelda May and all her superb band were absolutely on the mark, each and every time. Their performances were relaxed and polished and a real pleasure to watch and listen to. Each of the musicians: Darrel Higham, Steve Rushton, Dave Priseman and Al Gare would easily be worth seeing by themselves. Together they're something special. One of the best concerts I've been to, being from England i'm used to large stand up concerts so a small sit down venue was nice and more personal. I really liked the small explanations to some of the songs more of that would break it up a bit. The only thing that i would change about the venue is having to wait to enter once we had the ticket number, i don't see why people couldn't enter at there own leisure. Overall i'm looking to see if i can't see this amazing concert again.

Imelda was fabulous! The band as good as can be! A cross between the Pretenders and rockabilly! A truly great performer with a really strong band. Her husband on guitar and drummer were outstanding. The venue itself stinks as there is no pace to sit and the sound especially at high registers was grossly distorted. But the band was simply awesome.

Imelda May and her band are professional musicians and put on an excellent show. The 5 stars are for her. Imelda is always high energy and has a fabulous voice capable of a wide variety of styles. Her music is infectious and covers a gamut of styles. She is not one to be missed as she is only in the States occasionally. Unfortunately, I don't have high ratings for the venue. The sound was too loud (as confirmed by a band member I spoke to after the show) and the lighting was horrible. The drummer was in darkness the whole show. And the other lighting was poor. They clearly didn't know her music, as they were late with the spots, etc. Not professionally done at all. I had just seen Imelda 2 nights before in a small club in NYC, and that sound was superb and the lighting great.

Simply the best songstress and band out there today IMHO. I saw her a few years ago opening for Jeff beck at the Wellmont. No one knew who she was. The audience started paying attention about the third song in and when she sang "Lilac Wine" against Beck's riffs, I couldn't hold the tears back. I've been a fan ever since and will be seeing her for the 5th time at Irving Plaza. Imelda covers all genres with ease. Check out her work with the swing band Blue Harem years ago. Love the new songs on "Tribal"\u2026definitely a more aggressive sound and attitude to boot. Her banter with the audience is precious. She's just a lovely human being. Still a well kept secret but probably not for long. In the meantime I'll continue sneaking as close to the stage as I can get to watch and listen to Imelda, Darryl, Steve, Al, and Dave perform. Top notch musicians all!

Imelda shows off her tremendous range, from Rockabilly to Blues. Her personality-rich band keeps it rocking. The venue was the only downside. Imelda May deserves better. Standing for four solid hours was not comfortable. You can't dance, you can't sit, you don't dare leave your spot to use the bathroom or get a beer. I'm tall and could see OK if I shifted a lot. What you hear on the record does not do justice, to just how good Imelda and her band sound on stage. The Band was tight and Imelda's vocals where spot on. I first heard Imelda singing while I was watching the movie "Wild Target" (she has 3 songs on the sound track) and I had to know who this singer was. My favorite song of Imelda's now is "Eternity" And I wasn't disappointed at the live version. We ran into the band after the concert and what an elegant and classy woman Imelda was and how genuinely nice the band was. They where all happy to chat and they where more interested in hearing our stories then talking about themselves, Al Gare has some great stories your face will hurt from smiling and laughing so much. I highly recommend Imelda May and the band for a great night out, just remember it just might take a couple days to get her songs out of your head.

When I purchased the tickets I could see that it was General Admission but thought there would be seats first come first serve, but there was only standing room, and from start to finish I ended up standing over four hours. We got there at 6:30 thinking the doors would open at 7 and we would get a good seat, but we stood and waited until 8 when an opening act that had not been billed came on and played for an hour. Imelda May came on at 9:15 by which time I had been standing almost three hours, then stood for the show for about an hour and left, did not want to stand any longer. Imelda May and her band were FANTASTIC but beware of the Paradise trying to squeeze as many people into the venue as possible and then stretching the time until the main act for as long as possible to sell as many drinks as possible. I had never been to the Paradise before and would never go back. Would love to see Imelda May again, though--she is just incredibly talented and beautiful as well. I really don't know why such a great talent was even booked into a dump like that--she deserves better and so do her fans.

Her band was very tight even though it was a new band from the last time my husband saw her. I do wish she was around more often.

4th time seeing her. Always entertaining and has a great new band! She has reinvented herself a bit and her new songs are more rock and ballads vs the rockabilly she did in the beginning. She's just getting better. Took time to shake everyone's hands in the front row. Will definitely check her out whenever she's in town.

Good to know there are singers out there who can actually sing. No auto tune needed! Imelda's voice is amazing. Extremely powerful one minute, soft and gentle the next. The band was fantastic as well. My first time there, but the Teragram Ballroom is a great space to see a concert. Overall a great show and experience.

Both Imelda and the Birchmere were amazing! Imelda live sounds as good as a studio recording. The Birchmere's setup made for an intimate setting and the table service was the cherry on top.

She was incredible! Great sound, and her backing band is equally talented. Good show for kids as well - there were several there and she was appreciative that they got to hear her.

Great singer, great stage presence, charismatic, funny, very easy on the eyes, fun music, and, you know, a great singer. Plus a great band. Drummer is fantastic. Great rhythm section. Imelda May was a little freaked, I think, by the intimacy of the Birchmere -- no talking or dancing, so people just look at you, and they're right there in front of you. She warmed up to the scene, though, and then really seemed to enjoy herself. As did everyone else.
