Umphrey's McGee

Never heard of them until my sister recommended we see Umphrey's McGee play at the Stone Pony. Being an older guy (60), I was afraid I might get tired before the show ended. I headed straight for the mosh pit and the energy kept me going for three hours. Hell of a band and a hell of a show!

Great set list, sooooo well played (as usual). I could see them every weekend, and I know some people probably do.

I loved the opening act! Then Umphrey s came to the stage. They used all their pedals & every speaker. They rocked!

Up front, light show was crazy. they played 2 sets and an encore, lasted about 2 1/2 hours. great showmen, know how to put on a great show

So the whole performance was incredible. The lights along with the music really made it great. What made it so cool was going to the afterparty at the BlueBird and meeting some of the guys from Umphrey's.

Musical excellence combined with a light show to never forget!! Umphrey's performance moved the crowd and blew my mind and everyone's around me. This show will be my favorite show of all time, until i go to the next Umphrey's concert.

Telepath is awesome, so glad they were there to open for Umphrey's.

Umphrey's has a way of drawing the audience in, ranging from jamming, a little techno, and some heavy rock. The second set was better than the first, although in general, it wasn't my type of music. They sound really good live, with clear sounds and good stage lighting.

This is the fifth time i have seen this band perform and this was the best show yet. The lights and sound of the venue was great. No complaints. Incredible

Umphrey's put on a wonderful show last night. Each member of the band is immensely talented and showed their musical prowess last night. The timing was fantastic. Guitar solos were long and full of life. The show however gets 4 of 5 stars because of the fans. Sorry guys and girls but smacking people in the face with glow sticks is just not my idea of a good time. And the HOB makes the band larger than life when they are that close. All in all a great show.

i saw umphrey's last time they came to the crystal and wow it was the worst show i've been to all year. umphrey's is sounding wayyyy too metal these days but they can't pull it off well because they aren't a a metal band. this is really mediocre music and i would encourage anyone with a good ear for music to see literally any other show besides this one.

I thought the whole night was a succes. I love that they are just a bunch of guys that get on stage and rock out, with a few lyrics here and there. Cant wait to see them again.

First time seeing UM live but they were incredible

I had heard UM on Sirius and bought their Mantis CD from hearing them. I quite like the CD... so.. when I saw that they were coming to Houston, I really wanted to see them. THEY BLEW ME AWAY! What a great live band.. they are so tight, very imaginative etec..etc.. SEE THESE GUYS!!

First of all, Fantastic show. Not only did Umphrey's come to Baldwinsville, they put on a nasty show. Wish they had a few more tunes on the encore but overall nicee show. Hope they return and definantly goin to atleast a few more shows this summer.

It had only been a week since I saw the boys at summercamp, but that is no exscuse to miss Umphrey's in Columbus. I have seen Umphrey's over 30 times and they always brinig the heat when they come to columbus. They played the whole show pretty much seemlessly segueing one song into the next. Great Setlist, great energy, great people.

Umphrey's is my favorite band so they never dissapoint me at a show. They always bring it and they bring it hard!

On this brisk evening, these dudes were up to the challenge. Every note was played to perfection and the crowd was uproarious to say the least. To say a few jigs were danced would be an understatement. I myself saw probably six or seven. But don't believe me, catch them at a theatre hall near you soon, tickets courtesy of Ticketmaster!

This was an amazing show. It was my first time seeing Umphrey's but it definately won't be the last. The stage was almost to small for the band but they didn't seem to mind. The lighting effects where also very spectactular. If you do not know of Umphrey's music I would describe it as a jazz/rock fussion. At times mixing in some folk, rege, and 80's synth rock. A TRUE Jam Band!!

The boys seemed to bring a more energized level than recent shows- I always love the band, never know what to expect and love that it's always fresh- they just had that little extra kick in Norfolk. I had seen them 2 weeks ago in Richmond- at a beautiful outdoor venue they seemed to love ( the day MJ died so Billy Jean was the encore) an the Norfolk show was just more energized. Maybe the crowd, maybe the lights & sound ( exceptional work by the crew !) but Norfolk was sick- Jake was really animated and absolutely shreadded his new Jetson looking guitar. Thanks UM- you never fail to show up!

The show was amazing! You couldn't ask for more talent together on one stage! Brilliant musicians!

Took some friends to see Umphrey's at the NORVA last night - great show! Everyone was blown away with the level of performance and musicianship displayed. One of my friends was going to back out since he had only seen youtube clips and didn't think he'd enjoy the show - was he ever wrong!! Saw UM earlier this year in Baltimore - this show was completely different and very engaging. As a "weekend warrior" musician - it's great to see people on the top of their game. I've seen lots of shows over the years - this ranks as one of the best and UM is right there with Zappa's 88 tour band (which he himself said was the best). Incredible musicianship and improv that flows together to make a night really special. UM is one of the few acts that warrants seeing again and again!!!

Umphrey's McGee is one of the most versatile and precise bands currently playing in the musical world today. They work like a well oiled machine and have fun while playing amazing tunes.

I have been waiting for this show all summer, and has high expectations going in, and obviously was not disappointed. They always seem to amaze me and this was my 15th Umphrey's show I have attend. Having sts9 play with them was a bonus, and they are awesome as well. I am sure everyone that went was just as satisfied as I was with the show and I can't wait for the next one!

Killer white zombie/ relax don't do it mash up. The Triple wide!!!! Thunderstruck cover was the first AC DC cover that was dam near spot on. Angus Young and Bon Scott would have been pumped! To sum it up Umphreys Rocked Red Rocks once again and successfully melted our faces off! We love you Umphreys Can't wait till New a years Fillmore!!!!!!!!!!!

Umphreys was absolutely amazing! The athmosphere, the lights and most of all the music! Everything was on point, to say the least! <3

Kick ass setlist, the venue was beautiful. Hung out on the floor and in the balcony and sound was great all over.

...because you'll wonder what melted their faces the next morning! UM pulled out some hard chords for their thawed mid-western brethren before taking a short break in the middle of their winter tour. The tight opening set only established anticipation for the second: tearing into "JaJunk," the boys proceeded to intermingle the established Talking Head's cover of "Making Flippy Floppy" with a grinding intermingling of "Triple Wide" with an ear splitting set of renditions. Guitarist, Jake Cinninger, ripped into White Zombie while battling Brendan Bayliss' attempts to ease it back with "Relax, Don't Do It" sharing contrasting choruses. An epic "Divisions" finished off the regular set to send everyone home. Except that drummer, Kris Myers, would have none of that and stepped out from behind the drum set (replaced by Jake) at the encore to belt out an astounding "Mother" that would knock out Danzig... again!

Umphrey's McGee kicked ass at The National in Richmond Saturday night. The lights seemed to come out from the stage and include the entire theater. This was my first show after wanting to catch them for the past 5 or 7 years. They did not disappoint. These guys are all about seeing them live. GO!

Another great night! Always look forward to an UM show. The crowd was pumped and the band was tight as ever. Great warm up act too. Well worth getting to the venue early. Don't miss em.

This was the first time I have ever seen Umphreys McGee play live and I must say they are one of my new favorite bands! They are very talented and the array/blend of instruments was very unique! UM kept us moving all night. The light show was outstanding as well. Great vibes.

If you have never seen Umphrey's, then you have never seen the most exciting music display there is! From metal to classic rock to reggae to improv to basically any genre there is, Umphreys knocks it out of the park every time.

The McGee that is Umphrey's brought a very metal oriented setlist to the stone pony for this show. Wizard Burial Ground, Mantis, Sad but True and Mother were all performed well along with some very progressive dark jams. I felt sweat drip off of my face as it was melted by the barrage of intense virtuosity.

A true rock and roll show through and through. UM always light's it up and on St.Paddy's they were especially on fire.

Umphrey's Mcgee show Friday night was a blast.Crowd was great and show(lights and music) were fantastic.

I have been to many UM shows over the past three years in the NYC/Philly/NJ area and this was their best performance. Things just clicked for the band as they were stunningly in sync. I believe UM is the best thing to happen to music since the Beatles. In fact they did a Beatles song last night, I Want You (She's So Heavy), and it was amazing. They can play anybody's music as good, if not better, than the originals. The crowd was the most enthusistic I have seen so far as well.

A psychedelic jam-rock roller-coaster is how I'd describe the Umphrey's Show on Sunday night. Big high's and lows... deliberate ones... insane light show... massive epic finish a final set that glued the crowd's eyes to the stage for like the last hour.

definitely an unforgettable experience. the cool boulder air, the towering red rocks flanking you on either side, the pounding of the chords through the speaker system and the awesome light works you expect from Waffle...great show!

I love Umphrey's and I love the Fillmore, so I couldn't have been happier! Drinks a bit expensive, though ($11 for a vodka Redbull, $8 pint!).

Great musicians. Great party. (However). Venue is always strict. It's like bad parenting.

I love umphrey's! masquerade was up close and personal to see them and i loved it. the only negative was that the masquerade security would allow no tailgaiting or "loitering" in the parking lot before the show. the light show was on point tho. great warm colors to go with the warm night!

Umphrey's McGee came to the Cape to rock, and an incredible performance they put out there! Not my first UM experience, but one of the most intimate, as the Melody Tent tends to be. Coupled with the small but extremely energetic crowd, this was more a private party then a rock concert. Umphrey's McGee knows how to bring it, and bring it all they did. Despite playing the day before their set at GotV, they left nothing in reserve. Cape Cod Melody Tent staff again went above and beyond to accommodate me as a taper. The staff, security, and the crew for UM made for a killer night, a beautiful publically available recording, and a stress free night not having to worry about my gear once it was set-up. All around best venue to see a rock show like this! I wish they attracted more similar bands.

Some bands sign up for a weekend of performances. And only provide a good show, and two very lame ones. Umphrey's McGee is NOT one of these kind of bands. Not only did they produce some hypnotic melodies, they mixed in some ol' time heavy metal. How many bands do you know that can rock out with not one, but two ridiculously amazing music genres, three nights in a row? Answer: Umphrey's... and only Umphrey's. "Nothin' Too Fancy!"

They rocked the house. It is a sold out event standing room only. They exceeded all of my expectations. A great group of musicians! I would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

Pretty much a standard UM set, though it started off a bit slow... they really didn't kick it up to their usual blistering pace until the end of the first set Spires>Miss Tinkle's Overture... Second set opened with a Wilco cover that was voted into the setlist as a Valentine's Day choice by the fans. As with all covers by UM, it was tastefully and masterfully done. They woke us back up from that with the bouncy crowd favorite Triple Wide, then into one of their signature high-energy pieces, All in Time. That was the highlight of the show for me... They ripped through rest of the second set, almost rushing to get everything in. The list included a few more nice covers, but never really lived up to the beginning of the set. As a side note... the crowd at UM has been getting progressively younger and more annoying for a long time now. We get it kid, you know everyone's name in the band. You can call out songs as soon as they start playing. Got it. Now stop shouting to your little buddy about how you saw them somewhere else and it was great and listen to what's in front of you. I'm not saying anyone should "stay quiet" at a show like this - but constant conversational shouting is beyond annoying. Its like they're more into "being into" the band than they are actually into the music... UM is always worth seeing anywhere, but any chance you get to see them at a festival or over 21 venue is a much better experience.

This was my first Umphrey's show and I thought it was amazing! Three set lists, a countdown to the new year and they still kept playing...can't wait to see another Umphrey's show!

The show was awesome. Enjoyed both bands. The Macpodz were awesome and i will definitely listen to them more. Umphrey's was the best show ive seen in my life. Period.

Hats off to Umphrey's McGee for a great musical performance. I would have liked to have heard more of their vocals Friday night. They are a jam-band, of course, so we expect the long instrumentals. They are not only great players, but great vocalists. This band has great harmonies and some very melodic songs with top-notch lyrics. But, they didn't bring much of that to the table at the Friday night performance. I don't know if they offered more on Saturday -- I'm looking forward to hearing the live archive. However, even if they HAD sung more, I'm not sure we could have enjoyed it as much as we should. The vocal mix was muddy the entire evening. There was no clarity in the mics. When the guys were talking on the mic between sets, I had ZERO ability to understand what they were saying. It's a shame when a band like this comes to the table and the mix doesn't match the talent on stage. The lighting, however, was stellar! Great job by the lighting tech and to whomever programmed these. The connections to the music were top-notch.

Umphrey's kills it every time. Nice mix of new material, classics and Jimmy jams!

From start to finish they are amazing. Even if you don't know there music they are just a fun band live!!!! The crowd was super cool and the lights are by far some of the best I've ever seen at a live show. If you have the chance check em out because I will be totally going to more shows when they come around!!

The Macpodz opened with a blistering set. A local Michigan band playing to the hometown fans. It was the first time we heard them and we hope to see them again. Bought their CD on the way out. Umphrey's played their usual incredible jamorama show. We were in the third row. Had a good time visiting with the Grand Rapids contingent of Umphreaks. If you have a chance to see this show in Grnad Rapids or Traverse City, Go Dogs Go! You won't regret it. Incredible value compared to the big name acts. Choc full 'O groove. You won't be disapointed.

From the opening intro of Goonville to the closing bars of Remind Me, Umphreys once again brought their A game to Dallas, and the Umph love was strong from the faithful in attendance!

these guys are sick. they make my mind explode! blown away again, 6th time I've seen them in the past 3 years, never a disappointment.

Umphrey's McGee is always at the top of their game. There is not a more talented group of musicians to be found on the planet. And the fact that you can go to a show and still have some money left in your pocket is another reason I will attend anytime the band is in the area. I am not sure how they manage to put on such a spectacular show night after night. The suspect the time they spend on the stage is the main reason that their playing is so incredibly tight. I mean...songs that start and stop on a dime. Complex music and they make it look easy. The light show compliments the music. Kudos to all the folks behind the scenes that make it all come together. You guys rock. I have many memories of UM Asheville, NC shows and looking forward to many more. Momma I'm coming home!

First time at Penns Peak. When I walked in all I could say was WOW. The wood floors and beams, I cannot say enough how amazing this place is. UM seemed to have more of chill vibe this night. This the perfect layout for a GA show. Plenty of room to move around on the sides of the floor. Easy to get drinks at the bar. Staff was friendly. TAUK was the perfect opener. We setup home base in the center balcony. It wa great to be able sit and chill for a while and hit the floor and get nutty. Everywhere in the building you had a perfect view of the stage. From the lower rail you are practically on stage with the band. Can't wait to come back.

It only takes seeing Umphrey's live one time to understand why they have the following they do. A live Umphrey's show is worth every single penny.

The Umphrey's McGee concert at The Wiltern was fantastic. Even the opening band was very good. GA on the floor wasn't too packed, so you could move around and slip out to grab another drink. Wiltern is a great venue. Not too big...just the right size for a concert.

Considering the only reason I had heard of these guys was that they topped a christian fundamentalist list of 10 most evil jam bands, didn't really know what to expect. I liked all the other bands on list, and had seen most of them live. This was quite literally the best small venue show I've ever seen! Was like a blend of TOOL, Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews( jam band part anyway), and maybe RUSH as well. Incredibly tight, dark and heavy. Drummer was top notch in vein of Pert/Danny Kerry, but without the massive kit. Had a secondary percussionist for rest of it... Would highly recommend to any fan of progressive rock. Simply amazing lights show as well. Very surreal! Will never miss them again!

Tauk was a great opener. Umphreys played at another level. Venue is great. An old nostalgic building great accounting. Waffle was able to light it up so wasn't umphreys.

This was the 13th time I've seen Umphrey's and it was the best show I've seen so far. They either keep getting better, or I keep falling more in love with them... or both. Either way, Umphrey's rocks and so did the Palace Theatre. Great acoustics. A+++

Umphrey's showed their hard side to Portland. It was driven beat rock, as evidenced by the stack of sub-woofers on the floor. I literally was blown away, as I could feel the wind from said speakers. Most talented bunch of musicians I have ever seen!

While UM is always great, even if they all had the flu, the band TAUK shined the brightest this evening. They played only 6 songs but could have played 16 more. Most everyone got into their jazzy jam groove and were disappointed when they had to go. Many people at the show whom were being introduced to TAUK were jaw-dropped saying to themselves, "These guys are sick!" It was almost a mantra as this band played music that affects you on a different level than most jambands. The 'talk' during the break was what festivals were TAUK performing at. It is a smart, sophisticated jazz, blues and funk fusion that grabs the heart like your favorite music does. I purchased their third album, 'Collision' and first on vinyl, and it is spectacular. It's a 180/200 gram masterpiece. UM was great but disappointed not having played Bad Friday on Friday the 13th. The knuckleheads! UM also shared that TAUK kicked their butts in a friendly basketball game that day. TAUK is on fire!

This was my 23rd UM show and they never fail to amaze, every show is different. Their talent and chemistry blend perfectly to create the live music experience I NEED. I got mad UMPHLOVE!!!

Have wanted to see Umphrey's for some time now, so when when WNKU announced that tickets for the show at Taft went on sale, I jumped on them. Love the venue and knew the evening would be special, and it was. They started off their set with command and perfect sound. The show progressed nicely through some of their newer compositions and a great mix of prior years. My bucket list wish was Prowler and sure enough, they granted my wish, and killed it! What a competent band, excellent technique, groove and funk, and the Steely Dan cover (Peg) and Peter Gabriel cover (Sledgehammer) were incredible. You just don't cover tunes like that ,,, but they did them justice and more. They are a must see.

This was my 11 Umphrey's McGee concert, and they have not disappointed me yet!! They know how to put on a great show, that may have some of the same songs but they are never the same!!!

This was my first Umphrey's show, and it certainly will not be my last. I absolutely love going to shows at Stage AE, indoors. Great venue with a great view and sound no matter where you end up standing.

UM is always a great show. It always amazes me how tight these guys play. Spent the first set on the front row. I nicknamed the guy next to me "The Sprinkler". He worked himself into a frenzy and then would shake all his sweat off...right on me (and a few other folks). But if you want front row at a general admission show, that what you get.Spent 2nd set off to the side, just to get a different angle and get away from the fray for a bit. Anyway, you can pay $125 for a concert nowadays if you want...or you can see the best live act touring today for $30.00. That is a good spend. If you get the chance, go to the show. You will not be dissapointed. BTW, the Fillmore is a great venue.

Epic. Just Epic. Best Jam Band Ever. Best Concert Venue Ever.

It was my 1st Umphrey's show, and I attended to see my now grown niece, who I havent seen since she was 4ish. Thought to myself, uggg, what the hell is an Umphrey's Mcgee? Long story short it was an amazing experience!!! The band was awesome & I have been to hundreds of concerts but this was 1 of the coolest crowds EVER!!! It was a spiritual experience to say the least. My income won't allow me to follow them around but anytime their in the area I will attend!!

This is the tightest band in Rock and Roll and can change directions on a dime. Their music covers genres from Reggae to Rap to Metal all in top notch prog style. They do covers like no other band and the mash ups are out of this world. GO SEE THIS BAND!!

Wow. An amazing evening, great bust outs, great sold out crowd, great venue, great time. Don't miss these guys when they are around. They absolutely bring the heat every time I've seen them!

This was a very different show. I've seen them several times and this one was the hardest almost heavy rock or lite metal. Really an excellent show. There were riffs of Metallica and only a couple really 'heady tunes'

awesome shows from both bands. killer encore. great lights and sound. water was very expensive. water should be essentially sold at cost but that's my opinion.

Umphrey's McGee was one of the best bands I've ever seen. These guys are perhaps the most musically talented group of musicians I have seen on the same stage. The dueling guitars are mind-blowing, the drummer and percussionist are incredible and the bass and keyboard are equally awesome. The first and second sets had distinctly different feels, and the lights were great. The main, lead guitarist is the best guitar player I have ever seen. THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME!

umphreys never fails to impress me. they have an incredible ability to weave in and out of genres in mere seconds, and you'll never see the same show twice.

Umphreys delivers another spectacular performance, great setlist top to bottom. Best of summer so far...

Great show, great energy. The boys brought the metal to Asbury Park. As much as I dig the classics, the new stuff was amazing. See you soon.

I particularly enjoyed this UM show. We had the added bonus of being at Hampton beach the same weekend as the national tow truck convention which was super neat-O! Not to mention you get to listen to all of the cool honky-horns on all the trucks in the morning.

Start by saying it was my first Umphrey's McGee show and it was all I could have hoped for. They played "In The Kitchen" (song I wanted to hear the most) and a few renditions of Led Zeppelin and STP's "Plush". Sounded awesome and the show performance was on point. Can't wait to see them again!

I didn't think i ever needed to leave a review for UM until I saw this dude's comment below. I last saw them in Columbus, Ohio in February and out of the 10 or so times I've seen them, that show was up at the top. They are still as good as ever and they never disappoint. If you enjoy jam bands some talented rock musicians, then you'll truly enjoy UM. There's no way this band has "lost their flame" LOL....can't believe I even read something like that.

I use to really like umphreys about 12 years ago. Like many bands they seem to have lost their fire. The light show is impressive but a little over board. I had to look away often because the lights were far to intense and flashing right into my eyes. The musicians are very talented but just not my cup of tea. Super 80 s rock hair band style. I love the fox theatre, it is beautiful and not to crowded.

These Guys are so absolutely Incredible, Master Musicians, Extremely Talented, Every one of them, Super Thankful they came out for west coast shows, Always a Treat! At The Top of Their Game, Always Delivering an unforgettably Fantastic Show!

Sat in the front row of the Loge and had a remarkable time. The band was awesome (as always) and played nearly 3 hours. What a show!!!! I only wish the Fox would realize the bass is really overpowering (especially upstairs) and tone it down a bit so we can hear the vocals clearly. All in all it was a great event. Especially loved the mash up of National Loser Anthem UM did for the encore......

Literally amazing, would see these guys 1000 times and one of the best indoor venues ever. Perfect.
