DIIV

DIIV IN CONCERT:Brooklyn dream-pop outfit DIIV have carved a niche for themselves among shoegaze fans with their beautiful wash of hazy vocals and melodic guitar lines. Inspired by the work of Malian guitar player Baba Salah, frontman and guitarist Zachary Cole Smith provides the anchor for DIIV's unique sound, weaving beautifully prismatic top lines throughout the band's textured compositions. Back on the road, the band's mesmerizing sets will treat ticket buyers to cuts from their 2012 debut Oshin as well as previews of material from their sophomore album. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:DIIV began as the bedroom recording project of Zachary Cole Smith, the former guitarist of the band Beach Fossils.

DIIV was rude from the moment they stepped on stage. the lead singer kept talking about how he wanted to go home, and at one point he said he would stop playing songs because the crowd seemed so "bored". They basically just complained all night on stage and didnt seem to be enjoying themselves at all. Also, it seemed like they didnt have a setlist at all so they kept asking the crowd for requests, but they couldnt play any of the songs people requested. Annoying. Total bummer because I love the band.

We loved their blend of Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Shoegaze, and Indie sounds. It was our third time seeing them in NYC and they did not disappoint. Can't wait till the new album drops.

The show was great. I like how the Tralf keeps things moving. No waiting around for prima donnas to get their crap together. I felt like I was in the underground NYC scene. They played well and were nice to the audience and most importantly they're not fans of the goo goo dolls. Thank god they didn't leave the stage without playing Doused or there would have been some problems.
