This was my first play I went to. I wanted to surprise my mom by taking her to see this at the fisher theatre. I was so happy to see her cry from happiness when we pulled up. I never seen a broadway play and I never really wanted to but I was doing it for her, not me. I went to the play with an open mind. After seeing the play, I would love to go to another one!! My mom and I absolutely loved this play. The acting, singing, everything was perfect. The story of Miss Saigon was incredible. I'm not into shows or movies with a lot singing in them but watching this play was an experience I will never forget.

I had seen the New York performance back when Miss Saigon first appeared on Broadway and found it amazing! I knew that the Detroit, Fisher Theatre version was going to be scaled down from what I had seen in New York and figured I might not be quite as satisfied, but I was taking a friend of mine to see the production for her first time, and loved the story and music so much myself that I was willing to overlook the scaled down version for myself just so my friend could see the production. It was every bit as amazing and satisfying as when I saw it in New York in spite of the down scale of the production. All the principal singers and chorus vocals were amazing, the orchestra was great, the story and set changes flowed. The lighting worked. I thought I might be disappointed in the fall of Saigon / helicopter scene BUT WASN'T! Everything came together beautifully! I would recommend this touring production to anyone who might have the opportunity to see it.

Miss Saigon is the most powerful play I've ever seen--both a Dallas performance more than a dozen years ago and the Ogunquit Playhouse production. The "Engineer" at Ogunquit was awesome and the lead cast was outstanding.

My wife and I sat right behind the pit. Front center seats. Even productions I like, I find myself looking at my watch, not this one. This musical entertains, it educates , and enthralls. My wife who is not overly emotional cried at the end of this musical. And for me, anything that shows the true cost of war is worth the cost of the ticket.

Once again the Ogunquit Playhouse outdid themselves. The acting, the vocals, the casting all absolutely amazing. The musical scoring and the orchestra did the most unbelievable job of pulling this together. It is always so much better with live orchestra and not prerecorded music, they make the show. How they manage to do this always amazes me but the always accomplish the impossible. The costumes, props (including the helicopter) very well done. I would recommend this play highly but to adult audiences. Everything is always perfect at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

The music was extremely powerful and emotional, and the showing of the "left-behind" children of American G.I.'s left us all grasping for tissues. One fault with the over-all performance was that it was all too loud; so much so that it was hard to discern words. Most people were covering at least one of their ears during much of the show. Glad I went to see it, and would recommend it to everyone.

We love this play and when we found out it was coming to the Ogunquit Playhouse, we bought tickets right away. We had seen it on Broadway and certainly didn't expect this event to come close. Boy, were we surprised! Not only did it fulfill its promise of outstanding acting but the players' voices were strong and clear and well, just amazing. The helicopter scene (we wondered how a smaller theater could handle this) left us shaken, AND stirred. This is a show that is a must-see. A wonderful production!

We've seen many shows at the Ogunquit but Miss Saigon may be the best! The talent and emotion of the performers was unbelievably great. I almost forgot I was watching a musical but felt I was drawn into the real lives of Kim and Chris. The staging was quite good as well. I rate this performance outstanding and one not to miss.

I would recommend to everyone to see this show at Ogunquit Playhouse. The actors were superb - every one of them. Glorious voices, excellent acting. The directing, scenery, costumes all came together to make this show as good if not better than shows on Broadway. There is no need to go to Boston or New York. We have first rate theater here. My congratulations to the cast and to the theater.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by going to see Miss Saigon in Ogunquit, and it was the best anniversary present I could have asked for. Such a moving and powerful story, and the cast was impeccable! They sounded better that the Broadway CD we bought, and I definitely think that anyone nearby should see this production!

I've seen Miss Saigon numerous times over the years, and I have to say this production in Ogunquit was my favorite! The staging rivaled that on Broadway, and the voices of the leads were incredible! Gregg Goodbrod's "Why God Why" was the most beautiful I've ever heard, and Jennifer Paz and Amanda Rose's "I Still Believe" brought me to tears... Remarkable production - I'll definitely see it a few more times!!

Given the casting and effect requirements, it's often hard to put this production on - especially at a regional theater company. However, Ogunquit has topped the performances of Saigon almost across the board, Wonderful! Superb! Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Things start off fast and go from there!

I saw Miss Saigon many years ago in Boston. It left me with a lot to think about. I believe this story is timeless and 20 years later I still left thinking about that time in history. The music is so beautiful and the cast so talented. Although the two lead characters were great I especially enjoyed "The Engineer"! He was just as good as the original star Jonathan Price so many years before.

At a friends recommendation I saw Miss Saigon. I enjoyed the talent level of every cast member very much. The story may be hard to follow at first if you hadn't read the program but it was still great. You laugh and cry! The interesting part is compared to other shows, the stage effects and prop usage is minimal. But the show doesn't suffer because of it.

Well, I had a great main floor seat! The performers were on top of the material. The music of the orchestra, and the great singing voices brought the story to life. The story line and actor performances were terrific--very touching story that brings tears of emotion through-out. The musical score and orchestra performance was great. The Engineer role stole the show! However, the sound system is horrible. We had to strain to barely understand the dialog. Fortunately, I had seen the show in Toronto several years ago and knew the plot so that I could follow the script overall. To begin with, the opening sound of the Helicopter was a total disappointment. It was barely audible, basically --what should have been a memorable experience was unremarkable at best!

It's too bad that this play is not as mainstream like "Phantom of the Opera"or "Les Misarable" but that's perfectly alright cause it was a night to enjoy w/o over crowding. I didn't like the play because I couldn't understand the words that the singers were singing. The songs didn't have much of a tune to them. I couldn't take them "home" with me in my head. It was just people singing dialogue. I'm sure that the actors were trying, but the music just wasn't there in the play for me. I wouldn't recommend this play to anyone. When I attend a musical, I want to be able to enjoy the songs, as I did in "Jersey Boys." This play fell flat in the music department. No, thanks!

It's the 2nd time I've seen this musical here in Detoit and enjoyed every minute of it of both. However I feel the Fisher theater is in need of some real updating. I also wish for having spent more on main floor seating that it would have had a bit more leg room. I will avoid going to this theater again but would'nt say that it had any impact on the show itself & would return for the right event. I would just prefer not to.

I have seen Miss Saigon many, many times in NY. This performance is so bad it ruins what is, normaly, a moving experience. The flaws are so numerous that I may run out of space. First, the production is done on the cheap. For example, the scene where Chris and Kim get "married" is supposed to take place in an apartment. I guess they couldn't afford the rent so they staged the scene in the bar used for the opening numbers. Similarly the Viet Cong dance routine is devoid of scenery with a poor picture of Ho Chi Min replacing the huge bust and acrobatics replacing the martial choreography that makes the scene powerful. Etc. etc. But the most egregious flaws are with the singing and orchestra. The music drown out the voices. Not that that is a great loss as Chris can't sing. He can scream. He completely drowns out Kim - who has a good voice - in the duets. Similarly the chorus is unitelligible - probably from having to compete with the orchestra.

The show was great, the story powerful, especially since I lived through those years. One small noticable glitch when someone came on without their hat in one of the military scenes, but otherwise flawless. The music was great and I was able to see everything and understand the dialog and the solo singing. The ensemble singing was a bit difficult to understand, but that could be me. I would recommend this highly!

The first time I saw this show, I was with my mother. I cried and never forgot the music. Listening to the music always brought the performance back to me. My daughter grew up listening to it, but she was very small when I saw it the first time. She always loved the songs, even though she didn't know the whole story. I always pictured her and I going to see it together, so I never spoiled the plot for her. Finally over 15 years later, she, as an adult, was able to go and see it with me. She cried at every dramatic turn, and her love of the story behind the music was apparent in her face. We were not disappointed with the performance.

I saw Miss Saigon several years ago when it first came to Detroit. The production was noticeably better than the present one. Maybe the cast was bigger and better rehearsed. Maybe there was more continuity between scenes and maybe the chorus was larger and danced better. Or maybe it was all these things. I seem to remember the song "American Dream" the first time I saw the play years ago. It ended with this big over-sized grill of a gleaming new Buick sedan brought on to the stage as an image of materialism in America. It was a great prop. Where was it this time? It was gone and replaced by a dull gray building front and I can't even remember what it said because I was disappointed. The dancers were not as together this time and and it seemed that there were less of them. Maybe this is a sign of Detroit's budget woes. Or maybe Chrysler as a sponsor did not commit enough funds to this production. If I had to grade it I would give it a C+ or a B-.

Perhaps not the staging of the original but a strong cast with a fabulous 'engineer' made it an enjoyable evening. The young lady that played Kim had a fantastic voice.

This was a fantastic musical! There was talent well beyond a regional theater. If you want to be wonderfully entertained and amazed, get there this afternoon and tonight or Sunday before it closes!

The scenery and settings were simple and not very extravagant, but the three lead actors voices were superb. The music wasn't as memorable as Les Mis even though this was produced by the same people. This isn't a musical you would bring a younger person too due to the language and aspect of the story. This was my first time to see Miss Saigon and it isn't a show I think I would enjoy seeing again like Les Mis or Wicked.

Miss Saigon done very well! The cast was AWESOME! I saw it 5 times in Chicago.......The vocals in Texas.....Nearly perfect! I was on the edge of my seat. The engineer was simply amazing! The staging was compromised a bit due to a small stage, but it didn't phase me because the actors and actresses were so great! side note.......this musical is not for 7 year old little girls~I was quite disturbed by a little one in front of me!!!! EXCELLENT......must see!

Amazing! Kim and the Engineer were outstanding. The helicopter scene very well done - I barely missed it. Costumes were nicely done and the cast all around are very good.

I anticipated seeing a smaller scaled down production. This is the 3 rd time I had attended. In Toronto, Canada I saw the full blown shown. Truly awesome. What this crew did with a tiny orchestra and not a lot of big props was amazing. I expected the voices would be average. Wrong again. This show was just awesome.

Sets - Almost total lack of sets - Just a platform and several small rolling pole dance platforms. Performances - Actors just didn't feel or project the intensity of the situation: war, lust, and a desperate people. Sound system - garbled and noisy. Unable to understand most of the lyrics. Totally disappointed - I had seen Miss Saigon on Broadway and in Dallas and enjoyed both.

Had never seen Miss Saigon. Impressed by the performances of the entire cast. Voices were outstanding. Can't imagine better singing, even on Broadway. For a small theater, a great job was done with special effects. Story, of course, terrific. Recommend strongly.

I love the magic of the theater! This show did not disappoint. The actors were superb. The music was superb. I love that we had a "local boy" as the lead.

It was like bringing a little of Broadway to Fort Worth. The vocals, staging, and orchestration were all very good. We thought the leads put on very strong performances. In fact, all of the cast members were enjoyable.

Casa Manana was an interesting venue for this show. This is normally a large scale production. I'm sure seeing it in this intimate setting was disappointing to some, but I enjoyed the creativity necessary to bring a helicopter into a setting that was smaller than it was. I felt the vibration and saw enough to make me feel it was back there. That being said, I really didn't care for the show itself. I'm not a fan of opera, despite being a classically trained musician, and that is what this is. There was no dialog, only recitatives in lieu of it. I find it annoying in opera, I just find it ostentatious in a musical. Singing the dialog distracts from the songs themselves with one blurring into the other. This is not to distract from the quality of the performances. I thought the singers did well and the orchestra is to be applauded for playing without rest the whole time. There were no real stand-out performances, but all were adequate. Overall it was a good ensemble performance. If you like this show I think you'll be disappointed that there wasn't more spectical. If you don't know it and don't mind the opera style performance, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you don't like opera, you will probably not enjoy it at all.

Absolutely LOVED the short run of "Miss Saigon" at Casa Manana...! The simple, but gorgeous and effective staging has let the music and the performers shine through. I was in tears throughout the whole show. Not an easy piece to put on, the cast was outstanding, the direction spot on, and the orchestra and sound effects were thrilling. FANTASTIC!

Quaint theater, no bad seats in the house. Large production with amazing actors/singers that brought it to life! My teenage daughter, laughed out loud and was brought to tears, so I believe it was a complete success!!
