The show was great!! I was concerned when I read some of the bad reviews on here!! I purchased 5 tickets for myself and 4 daughters. I told them about the reviews and not to expect much from this show. My daughter's are 16, 14, 8 and 5 and they loved it!! No it's not like the Cinderella we all know and love. This is just like any other remake of Cinderella it's going to be different!! Just because they say it's a Rodgers and Hammerstein's production doesn't mean they are basing the musical from the original classic!! OPEN YOUR MIND AND EARS AND ENJOY THE PERFORMANCE IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!

I went to Cinderella with more excitement than I could contain. The minute Cinderella sang the first few bars of "10 minutes ago" I started to tear up with joy! I grew up with Rodgers and Hammerstein's TV version my entire childhood as I would wait expectantly every year to see. I really loved hearing all of my favorite and familiar songs that I can sing by heart. It was cute to hear some of the added updated dialogue but I am a Cinderella purist and was hoping they would't change the story greatly. For the most part, I really loved the entire musical but wished they wouldn't have changed the scene where she dropped the shoe after the original ball and totally added another story onto the original. The costumes were fabulous and I also loved the quick change artistry behind several of them. The prince's costume in his first scene was amazingly creative and handsome! Kudos to the costume designers!! In this day of trying to make everything PC some things cannot be improved upon and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is definitely one of them!!

Casting for Cinderella was well done, especially the king (who also happened to be our waiter). Cinderella was beautiful, and her voice was awesome. Our party could tell the cast had worked together many times so the flow of the play was smooth. One in our party had played Cinderella in a previous high school production and she loved this performance.

We had our grandchildren as our guests and were seated in the "B12" section. We could see the actors but when the mice and cat came on stage the children couldn't see them and we adults could only see them at times. The production was really enjoyable if you were seated in the front of the house, but as we were in the back, we didn't get to see all portions of the play, nor the ending when Cinderella and the Prince and cast face everyone in the front of the theatre. Our meal was excellent and our waitress Jennie was very good.

It was not as I expected but it was surprisingly good. I guess I was expecting it to be like the typical Cinderella story. I should have researched it more. But it was a little comedic and I totally enjoyed it. I loved how they changed the pumpkin into the carriage and changed clothing right in front of you without you even realizing it. I totally enjoyed it. I only gave it 4 because it is a little different than the original. But I would absolutely recommend it. The first creature that the prince kills is a little scary so small children should know about that. But worth seeing and adding to your repertoire!

I took my girlfriend and her adult daughter and they loved it. I thought it was pretty good. It goes beyond the basic story but is presented well, nice flow and entertaining. The venue is old but taken care of. Line to the ladies room looked awful, men s room no problem, I walked right in. The Peabody is located near everything. Restaurants are an easy walking distance of a block or two. So is the beach.

I have loved Cinderella ever since I was a child. Annually it came on TV in the 60s the songs were all there. My 4 nieces were my guest age range from 17 through 26. The four of them had a wonderful time and an impression was made. The singing, gowns & dancing were amazing done. This was a big disappointment it was not Rogers and Hammerstein and should have been advertised differently. Even the kids didn't know who was Cinderella. Don't waste your money going to see this. I paid a lot of money for these seats. We go often to plays and I have never been disappointed or wrote a bad review. Some people even left because they said this is not a Cinderella play.

The show was very cute and comical. The singing was in point. They kids and adults in the audience were laughing throughout the evening. The story line was very good but it didn't follow the traditional Cinderella story. Different but still entertaining. I loved the costumes especially the quick costume changes of Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. Very magical. Our show started at 7:30 PM which was a little late for most kids. At intermission we had to buy my nieces a cookie (sugar) so they could stay up the second half of the show (ages 5 and 10). We got out of the show around 9:50 PM which was pretty late for them. Especially for a school night. I wish they had an earlier showing at least one night the show was in town.

My daughter and I enjoyed this production, but it was strange how they changed the story. I've seen the Rodgers and Hammerstein version more than once, and while it's always a bit different, this production included a weak little political subplot that added nothing to the story. Political subplot in Cinderella? It was weird. I guess I can appreciate the "empowerment for girls" aspect, but . . . it was weird.

I took my wife to this for her birthday. We've attended many "plays", but this was the first for us that you might call "Broadway League". The actors were great, but the stage props, costumes, choreography, and transitions were nothing less than professional and first-rate. For us, this was an example of a production that said, "This is how it's done!" Obviously, my wife was thrilled and well pleased with my birthday gift.

'Cinderella' was excellent. It varied some from what I think of as the original fairy tale but that made it all the better. The music, singing and dancing were beautifully performed. The added comedy was fun and well done. The props were very nicely done and seemed to change effortlessly, and the on-stage costume changes were nothing short of amazing.

Really enjoyed. Not the classic tale but was a funny take on the classic story. Took our 3 year old and she enjoyed but there were parts that seemed to just lengthen it without really adding much. Still enjoyed.
This was advertised as "Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" and, yes, they used their songs but it was not at all what we expected. I wish they would have left a classic fairy tale alone and not tried to put a "social message" into it!! The lead actors and costuming were quite good but the storyline was rather ridiculous.
The quick costume change was flawless. I was not familiar with this version of Cinderella and enjoyed it. It wasn't too predicatable and the cast did a good job adding a few current day humor comments.
Cinderella was fantastic. The actors and actresses were phenomenal. The music was also great. I would recommend everyone to go see this play. The scenery was outstanding. Overall it was wonderful.
Cinderella production was excellent entertainment. I would highly recommend for adult entertainment. It is not really appropriate for young children expecting to see a Disney version of Cinderella. The acting, music, costumes, and presentation was first class in every way. The show was sold out at the saenger theatre in Pensacola. I give it a five star production and don't think anybody left disappointed.

I have seen Cinderella on Broadway years ago, and it was so wonderful. However, this was a "new" version that was nothing like the original. The good: the costumes were amazing, the set was gorgeous, and the singing was beautiful! The bad: the actors were not very good at acting. Everything sounded very forced and there was a lot of shouting, not projecting...there is a difference. The storyline was disappointing....Cinderella didn't leave her Glass slipper behind, she took it with her. Cinderella and one of her step sisters actually got along, engaging in a song and dance together. The step sisters didn't have their trademark funny scenes together. It seemed the play was a mismatch of different things, and it really didn't work.

I attended the performance last night in Pensacola. The sets, costumes and actors were quite good. I did not care for the changes to the story and the introduction of a political story line. This added to the length of the show and it did not enhance the show in a positive way. The children around us seemed to lose interest in the show. Classics should be left alone. I would not recommend this to a friend nor would I care to see it again.

Took my wife to see this for her birthday--she'd seen the show many times as a child, though I never had. I very nearly didn't get to purchase any tickets...even though I found out about the show almost 4 weeks in advance, they were already nearly sold out! It ended up being one of the best "date nights" we've had in a long time. The show is a classic retelling of the Cinderella story that, while still clearly accessible to children of all ages, has moments of quite sophisticated humor that adults will enjoy as well. The musical performances were all incredibly well done, thoughtful, and seemed to arise organically out of the plot (something that gets unfortunately missed in a lot of musicals). All in all a fantastic experience!

Cinderella, in my opinion, clearly rivals the best of R&H on Broadway. That alone justifies its praise. This theatrical version is exceptional in terms of the choreography and music (harmony of the cast and ensemble stood out). Leslie Jackson stole the show as the Fairy Godmother. Her parts in "Impossible" and "The Music in You" were exceptional and memorable. My wife especially enjoyed the comedic flair in the script. This play was originally made just for TV and has been superbly adapted to theater. Don't miss it if it comes near you.

I took my wife to see this show last Saturday for the matinee showing here in Knoxville and was pretty disappointed. The performance, itself, was tremendous. The cast were fantastic, and the choreography was awesome. But the script was extremely frustrating. If you don't care about drifting away from the original Cinderella story, you'll love the show. But if that's important to you, you might feel the same way I did. Without giving everything away, the first act is completely in line with the original story, but the second act took the whole plot into a direction that had nothing to do with the story of Cinderella. The romance between Cinderella & the prince was dubbed down due to there being a political twist on the whole story (having to do with the prince holding an election in the kingdom to help the poor people). I have no idea what these modern writers were thinking in re-writing the story to add a political agenda to it. It made the ending not feel as climactic at all. They still kept all the original songs, so my wife was happy. But we were both pretty disappointed. Why do people feel the need to add and change the original stories of these great Broadway shows? It did nothing but make me walk out frustrated for spending money on the show. We didn't get what we thought we paid for.

We are so familiar with the Disney version that this was refreshing. I could not believe how much I laughed during the performance. My 12 year old was with me and enjoyed it very much. The younger children around us seemed to get restless so it may not be exactly what they were expecting. However, for older children, teens and adults, this is a fantastic! Great story, songs, banter and, again, the humor was awesome. The cast had great chemistry which made for a terrific show!

Cindferella and the prince were cast perfectly and so was the fairy godmother and the rest of the cast! The voices couldn't not have been more beautiful! The experience of a lifetime! GO!!!!

I wasn't sure how this timeless movie was going to be transformed into a stage play. It was spectacular. Cinderella's and Fairy Godmother's costume changes should be applauded. In a blink of an eye, they were transformed. The carriage was beautiful. The actors were amazing in portraying their character. There was far more humor than I expected and I loved it. I have been a Cinderella fan my whole life and this did not disappoint.

I had seen Cinderella on Broadway and this was every bit as good. The scenery was beautiful and the acting and singing was fabulous. An added bonus is the beauty of the Tennessee Theatre. It is the prettiest theater I have ever been in. Cinderella is a wonderful production for both young and old.

I grew up with the Rogers and Hammerstein movie of "Cinderella," I even have it on VHS and now own it on DVD. I was so excited to know that it was showing in Grand Rapids so I had to get tickets. This production was not a let down by no means. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see it again!

It was well done. The cast was impeccable.... The story itself was just lackluster and the songs were unforgettable..... orchestra was great.

This weekend I took my daughter and grand daughter to see the Broadway Theater Guild production of Cinderella by Rogers and Hammerstein. This musical was broadcast on TV annually when I was a little girl and I LOVED it! Nearly 60 years later I can still sing most of the lyrics to every song and I couldn't wait to share it with the next 2 generations of my family. The music and the sets and the performers did not disappoint. However, this production added a few unwanted twists to this beloved story. In the first scene we meet Jean-Michel, a peasant with a social activist agenda, who is sweet on one of the step sisters, but step mom disapproves. He tries and fails to inform the clueless prince about the plight of the poor people. The prince s evil adviser decides that a ball, given as a method for finding a bride, would be just the thing to distract the people from their political unrest. Jean-Michel enlists Cinderella s help to inform the prince of the injustices of the poor. The story goes it s usual course until the clock strikes 12. Cinderella makes her hasty adieu to the prince but manages an Oh by the way, the government is stealing land from poor people, so you should look into that before she leaves. Then she runs down the stairs, looses her shoe, runs BACK for it, and disappears into the night in full possession of both glass slippers. End of act one. WHAT??? Act two: the prince is giving a banquet this time to get the mystery girl to show up again. Cinderella and the nice step sister hatch a plan to get Cinderella to the banquet which is again foiled by the evil step mother. The fairy godmother supplies another dress and issues another midnight curfew. Cinderella is reunited with the prince and gets him to listen to Jean-Michel and a group of peasants with grievances. The prince proposes to create a new governmental office of prime minister and have an election. He nominates Jean-Michel and the evil adviser as the two candidates. The clock strikes 12. This time Cinderella leaves a shoe behind on purpose. Sometime later everybody gets to try on the shoe until it is finally Cinderella s turn and, ta-da, the shoe fits. Cue the wedding party\u2014they sing something NOT written by Rogers or Hammerstein about dreams and the music in you, or something, and \u2026THE END! The play was still enjoyable, especially if you didn't come in with a bag full of childhood memories, but the political thread running through it took away a lot of the poignancy of this sweet, romantic story about the joyful reward gained by someone who perseveres in the face of adversity and repays evil with good. Dear Broadway Producers, if you want to turn Cinderella into political satire, fine. Write your own musical and leave Rogers and Hammerstein's alone.

This was my youngest daughter's first musical of this caliber and it did not disappoint. She was mesmerized from the very beginning. I saw her clap sometimes even before the rest of the audience did. Her little heart holds a growing love for the theater. All the staff was extremely courteous and friendly.
