Dave Attell
Born in Queens and raised on Long Island, Dave Attell got into stand-up comedy in the late eighties after graduating from New York University with a degree in Film and Television. Attell used this prestigious degree to land amazing jobs in the food service industry - as a waiter. At night he would hit the "open mic" circuit in Manhattan. After many years, Attell worked his way up through the club scene onto the road, touring across America as a national headliner and developing a huge following among fans and the industry alike.

Best comedy show! It showcased 5 total comedians that were all equally funny. Only complaint is I wish Dave Attell told more of the jokes since that is who I thought I paid to see. He hosted it and told some jokes in between the other comedians but he didn't have a stand-up part himself. The show was still great and I'm glad I got to see some new comedians.

Dave Attell was very good. Saw him about 4 years ago and he did a much longer show. Last night was limited to about an hour. Dave was kind to the crowd, not to raunchy in comparison to last show we saw. All new material, so that was a plus. The venue was horrible. The Wilbur Theatre is a dump. The chairs on the floor where we sat with tables were tiny, uncomfortable and over crowded, a total fire trap. Tables--but no alcohol served? They have no liquor license! Regular coke was overpriced at $4.50. Limited air conditioning on this hot summer evening. The sound system was poor. The place is dismal. Love Dave Attell but would never go to see him again at this venue. If you do go to a show at the Wilbur, skip the floor and sit in the mezzanine. At least you have your personal space and save yourself 10 bucks over floor seating.

Dave seemed to just be going through the motions this time. Not a lot of energy... I've seen him better before. His opener was a mumbler, and that coupled with the sound system that wasn't loud enough, made both acts tough to follow if there was any crowd noise at all.

Dave Attell never disappoints. This was the fourth time I've seen him live, and his material is ALWAYS original and fresh. He had the entire Wilbur Theatre crowd laughing from start to finish, and he must had done about an hour long set. Do yourself a favor and never miss the opportunity to catch Mr. Attell live.

There aren't a lot of comedians out there that can keep a room laughing start to finish like Dave Attell can. He starts strong and doesn't stop for over an hour. He does a nice job of mixing prepared material with on the spot interaction with the audience. At the end of the show he asked the audience what they were drinking that night. When one fan said, "jaeger and root beer" Dave replied, "What ferris wheel do you run?"

So, my girlfriend and I get there WAY early, just after they began letting people in. We're among the first bunch of people at the WIlbur Theater, and the only folks down in front (in the tables section). Dave comes strolling down the aisle, looked at us and said "Hey, guys! very politely. Excellent! We had no idea who was going to open for Dave. It was Mike <sorry, we couldn't make out the last name when announced>, also from NYC. He was excellent, too! After 15 minutes of side-splitting material, Mike introduced Dave... Dave took a few moments to feel out the crowd, mentioning how it was no easy show (the sun was still up, no booze in then venue and the stage had a plain, black backdrop!)... He won over the crowd with some Boston-specific references and realized the crowd was truly there to have fun, so he went for broke. After that, he just went wild and so did the crowd. Dave was on fire, with some of his dirtiest, most irreverent material ("You guys actually GET all of these references!") He started strong and finished even stronger. This was the best show of the three times I've seen Dave Attell live. I'm already looking forward to his return to the Boston area!

Dave Attell was hilarious and quick last night. He is a dirty, dirty comic, but some of my favorite points were the impromptu comments to the audience - "you're on your first date!? well she's wearing yellow, that's good. Red would be "Stop", yellow means "proceed with caution"". He has so many great, twistedly funny ideas. And it gave me ideas too ... hmm a shrine to vibrators, using Barbie furniture. Good idea, Dave. The audio was bad though - we were in the back and the mic was too soft a lot of the time to hear over the loud laughers near us.

All in all the show was good. Dave is always funny! I didn't expect to see 4 other people with him. After he went on the guy that followed him wasn't funny. Next guy had me laughing. The 3rd guy not funny. Glad he closed it with someone funny. Next time before I pay for a show like this I think they should at least list with 4 others so you know what to expect.

At no point in the advertising was it revealed that this was Dave hosting a bunch of other comedians. Totally sleazy to get us to pay to see Dave but really we got 20 minutes of Dave and a bunch of other stuff which was only one step above mediocre. Also the venue has not been updated in 70 years. Sleaze sleaze sleaze!

According to the Valley Forge Casino website and Ticketmaster, we thought we were in for a night with Dave Attell, maybe an opener or two. Not the case. Dave opened the show for 20 minutes or so then introduced about 4 other comedians. Dave came out after each comedian and did some improv with each one, sometimes including the audience. I have to say, we weren't disappointed with the lineup. My husband and I are huge Jim Florentine fans and freaked out when he came on stage!!! We weren't familiar with the other comedians but they were all great. I'd definitely recommend this show. Just be aware that Dave Attell is not the main act, he's more of the MC. And the lineup is different in each city. I believe his website may explain this.

I was kind of disappointed that this show was Dave Attell "and friends". I didn't realize when I purchased the tickets that Dave was basically hosting a show of other comedians. I was pretty sure that this fact was never advertised. I would have seriously considered not buying tickets to this show if I had known that. I really only wanted to see Dave. Don't get me wrong, the other comedians were great and ultimately I am glad I went. It was a great show in a great location.

We were excited to check out a comedy show at the new theater at the Valley Forge Casino and since we enjoyed Dave Attell years ago we figured we'd go see him at this location. After coming out and doing about 15 minutes of jokes, Dave introduced another comedian. My friends and I pulled out our tickets and it said nothing about this being a travelling showcase of comedians hosted by Dave Attell. It just said his name. Thankfully 2 of the 4 guest comedians were really good and Dave Attell did great as always. We enjoyed it enough, but the show was not advertised correctly. If you are going to just have one name on the bill and on the tickets then that is what people are going to expect when they come and see the show. This place is still working out the kinks so I would give it another year and hopefully they will have it together with the theater and advertising.

Titling the show Dave Attell was misrepresenting the showing. Dave only did stand up for 20 minutes, which was great. Wish he was on for a little longer. There were 4 other acts that 2 of them were good and the other 2 not so much. The show should be titled Dave Attell and friends or something. We weren't allowed to take pictures or videos while in attendance.

Poor advertising it was not a Dave atell performance as much as a showcase for 5 comedians with a sprinkling of Dave. We sat upstairs in the balcony where if you sat in the second row of seats you had to contend with the heads of the people sitting in front of you. If you want a drink get it yourself because none of the people standing around will help

Saw the late show last night at Cobb's. The room was chatty and even a bit rowdy, but I get the feeling that that's sort of Dave's element. And he KILLED. I had tears going down my face at one point. He seems to have a joke for everything, and he moves effortlessly from one topic to the next. Even when someone heckles he redirects it like verbal judo. His humor isn't political, it's not meant to make you go away with a different philosophy about life, he's just a master at jokes and I'm going to make it a point to see him whenever he's in town from now on.

I thought the entire show was great. I've been a fan of Dave Attell since I saw him do a comedy special on HBO back in 80's or 90's. He did a great job running this show and I liked how he asked each guest a few questions between acts. Topics got a bit rude and nasty, which I enjoyed. Glad to see there's still some good comedians willing to keep their raw edge while society continues to lean towards the pussification of political correctness!!! Big thank you to Dave for offering a night filled with laughs, and a few drinks.

Note, I have never written a review for anything before. However, Attell's performance at the Wilbur Theater in Boston was amazing and I need to write about it. The comedy performance began with Lamont Price, local comedian from Dorchester, MA. His performance was excellent. A strong opener for a strong act to follow. As for Attell, he was amazing, his rapid fire delivery left you laughing so hard that you could not catch up with the next joke. None of that nonsense storytelling that modern comedy has evolved into. Just hard hitting adult comedy. This is the type of comedy no one else is doing anymore. No politically correct nonsense, just in your face raw comedy. Very funny without being mean of dismissive. In addition, his crowd work was amazing. He dealt with Hecklers with amazing skill and patience. If you get a chance, grab some Attell tickets for you and your friends and you will not be disappointed. There is a reason why he is probably the most popular comedian among other comedians, and those guys have heard just about every joke premise before.

Dave Attell is like that alcoholic uncle that you never had. He is a blast to be around and you can tell he is a real person, he doesn't try to hide his imperfections instead he uses them and turns them into damn good comedy. When we laugh at Dave Attell's jokes about himself we are also really laughing at ourselves a little bit too. My only regret is that I didn't get completely wasted with Dave.

Too much USO tour and fundraising, not enough comedy. It just felt very odd to get depressed by the vet's stories and then have a comedian for about 5-10 minutes. Also, the C-list band played way too long and was way too loud. Next time, have the fundraising stuff at the beginning and the end, longer comedic sets, and no band. Also, Bill Burr wasn't there!

I was falling asleep.. the table in front of me had 5 men at it. 3 of them fell asleep... the people next to me on their phones instead of watching the show... It was so bad... Dave Attell was good.... but the guy before him was so bad it made it hard to get back into it. I was just over it by the time the headliner was on. Would not go to it ever again. waste of money.... They really need a better line up to keep the crowd interested.

Dave Attell is one of the most talented comedians I've ever seen live. The way he worked the crowd was masterfully hilarious. He was genuinely funny and seemed excited to be there and interact with the audience. I couldn't recommend his show more highly. FANTASTIC. I wish that his opener's name had been on the bill, or at least announced. He seemed to be a crowd favorite, but no information was given to find out more about him or see more of his material. Had pretty good seats in ORCH 1 Row 8. Would have liked to be a little closer so I didn't have to look past people's heads, but definitely not the worst spot in the house. Misleading! We purchased the tickets under the impression we were going to see Dave Attell perform. To our surprise there were 5 or 6 other comedians with him more or less acting as the MC. Attel made several comments about time during his interludes with his guest comedians. I understand the desire to add a show if it sells out, but the people who bought tickets for the first show ended up with a rushed and truncated event. I actually would have preferred the later show since the comedians wouldn't have been watching the clock. The comedians themselves were fantastic - this review addresses only the decision of the venue to schedule too tightly. Audience #1 was herded out after less than 90 minutes to make way for audience #2. 90 minutes for 5 comedians. I'm not a large guy, but the seating was actually uncomfortable - so many seats jammed into the room that shoulder room was non-existent.

I didn't realize that it wasn't going to just be Dave Attell and was a bit disappointed at first, but it ended up being entertaining. I liked when they all got together and were involved with the crowd. It was funny. Glad that I went.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! Dave Attell barely performed. I bought the ticket under the impression that it was DAVE'S show. I was not the only one in the seating area that felt this way. The first 2 comics were fair, at best. The last 2 comics were OK but I wouldn't pay to see any of them again. Waste of $$$$......Lesson learned

Dave's always funny. Seen him a few times and he never disappoints, great shock value for the timid, always, always says things that make you go....I don't believe he said that as you laugh hysterically. The opening acts were great as well, very funny, wouldn't be surprised if they were headlines very soon. Great night, even better comedy..these guys ROCK.

He was really good. I see a lot of comedians, and he was way, way up there. A seasoned pro. You will get your money's worth. Larry Bubbles Brown was also good. Opener Chris Garcia had some genius material, very well-delivered, about Neil Young, Channing Tatum and living in SF.

I love Dave's standup, have one of his CDs and watched many of his specials. When he stuck to his material I was hurting with laughter, but most of the set had him improvising with the audience and that's where he stumbled. Though he certainly has skills in teasing the crowd he simply wasn't as good as when he was delivering the polished material, so the show was full of dead minutes where I'm sitting there waiting for the amazing right hook of a joke to come along.

Dave Attell was hysterical. We knew his type of humor before going so we knew what we were in for and he didn't disappoint! Good place to see a comedy show.

I have seen Dave perform several times. He is always very funny, but this was his best show that I have seen. Robert Schimmel was my favorite. Dave might just have replaced him.

Dave was funny. I laughed at most of his jokes, but I wasn't rolling out of my seat laughing as with some other comedians I've seen. For me, the raunchy style jokes that he and his openers use only take humor so far. That said, I enjoyed the show.

We had a lot of fun. Theater was a lot smaller than expected. And had one drunk guy behind us that kept screaming.. Other than that had a lot of fun! Always love Dave attell... Also $14.00 beers sucked haha but that's to be expected at those events.

Perfect show. Attell is truly a master of stand-up. His delivery and constant stream of hard hitting jokles and crowd work was par to none. Easily the best stand up performance I have seen in my life. My only regret was the $15 mixed drink and the fact I got too high to remember some of the jokes. I would definitely go see Dave Attell again but go easy on the drugs and booze. Wilbur Theatre is a great venue and great staff. The warm-ups with Yoshi and Marc were excellent as well. Almost a 2 hour show.

Dave Attell & Jim Norton never fail to do awesome. From Attell's on stage who gives a crap attitude (loved when he lit up in the building that management said he couldn't) to Norton's characters.

Let's get this out of the way first, Jim Norton and Dave Attell are not clean comedians at all. They never claimed to be, so if you're looking for a Brian Reagan or a Jim Gaffigan look elsewhere (both good comedians btw). This show was great. I've seen both Jim and Dave on separate occasions and had a great time so this pairing was incredible for me. Both did completely new material and both did a lot of crowd work which I've never seen them do. Dave and Jim know how to control an audience and keep them captivated their entire set. Overall an incredible night that me and a group of friends enjoyed at Hampton beach

Really enjoyed Jim Norton, we saw him 10 years ago in New York. VERY FUNNY. He is a great stand up comic, we don't even listen to Opey and Anthony. Dave Attell was not funny at all. He talked more about porn than any other subject, it just wasn't funny to keep harping on the same schtick and basically copying Jim. It is just too bad Jim wasn't up on the stage longer.

The show was a triple threat with Atell, Norton, and local Boston comic Mark Riley. Their humor was what you'd expect: off-the-wall, crass, crazy and funny as hell. At the end of the show all three comics came out on stage, brought up the lights and messed with each other (and the audience) for a few. Very Rat Pack-esque. Afterwards, at the merch table, the comics were approachable, you didn't get that hands-off attitude - and posed freely for pictures (whether or not you bought anything). Class acts.

I had been waiting to see Dave Attell live for years, and he did NOT disappoint! Probably the best crowd worker I've ever seen. You would have thought it was part of this act. Raunchy and hilarious. You'll never pay that much to see a fat, bald man yell at you for an hour.
