Overall the show was nice. The performers there were great. 4 in all, with about 10-15 minutes between set changes. However, the final set change took a LONG 30 MINUTES (Anthony Hamilton) and it was already late, so that was disappointing. Don't know what the delay was, but it was a gripe we had.

What an amazing lineup this was!!! Several of my favorite singers under one roof, at the same time and in VA??? Wouldn't have missed it for the world! Been a huge fan of Lalah Hathaway since my teenage years! Her voice is so sultry, sexy and unique - her gift of song is indeed a true blessing! Tank is a hell of an artist and performed without a band, which says a lot! He gave away money and roses! I was honored to receive his last two! Brian McKnight is one sexy crooner! I've always loved him, been a fan for decades! Anthony Hamilton: "Small but mighty!" That man captivated the audience from the moment he appeared on stage! His raspy, soulfully, gospel tinged sound will have you confused: Not knowing whether you should dance or praise the Lord, LOL...but I loved every moment of it! Overall, every artist that graced that stage provided me with everything that I expected and more! I would pay to see them all again. One last thing to add is, the show was amazing because of those whom go unnoticed or unmentioned. So, big shout out and a huge thank you to the sponsors, promoters, the venue, the staff, all of those amazing musicians and talented background singers whom contributed to an awesome star studded event! It wouldn't have been as great without you

I thoroughly enjoyed the Fall Fest Concert. My favorite artist though is the incomparable Stephanie Mills! You can always depend on her to bring it!!! Chrisette Michele did an outstanding job too I just wish she would have stayed on stage longer. Of course, The Whispers are second to none as far as men's groups go. Scotty is still the man..☺ I was surprised that I didn't know many of the songs that Mint Condition sang but they did a great job nevertheless. Looking forward to next year's fall line-up.

While I felt the Whispers weren't at their best, and Mint Condition, while very talented, the music was entirely too loud, Stephanie Mills was on point (outstanding). However, my disappointment clearly is with Chrisette Michele. This is the second time in less then four months that I've seen her, and yet again, she sang to a track. Come on sister, by your own acknowledgment, you've been in the game for seven years. Hire a band please! Lastly, have the professional courtesy to introduce your two background singers by their names!

This concert was so amazing. Hampton Coliseum has amped up their sound system. All the artists' voices were so crystal clear. Now having said that.... If I die and go to heaven tomorrow it will be with a big beautiful smile. MINT CONDITION WAS "LIFE PLUS INFINITY". Stokely has no idea that his BIGGEST Fan was in section C Row 8. When my boyfriend and I met our relationship grew listening to Mint Condition, Life's Aquarium, Definition of Band, Mint to Be Mint, etc. My boyfriend passed away last year and all I could think of when I saw Mint Condition is how much he would have loved to be there with me. It's sad that there are so many crazy fans that the true fans cant get to meet the band, but I hope before I leave here, I get to meet Stokely and Mint. My dad was a muscian and he just died in April, so music is in my soul. I introduced my family and friends to Mint Condition. This was truly an inspiring night for me. I LOVE YOU STOKELY, MINT and Hampton Coliseum, you make me proud to be from Hampton.

I've always been a big fan of the Whispers, my husband....not so much, so he was a little apprehensive in attending. We went, we watched and we both enjoyed the show very much. The one thing that could have made the show better....SHORTEN the amount of time it takes to setup the stage between acts. Other than that, great show.

Great evening out with hubby. Originally went to see The Whispers but disappointed in the song choices they sang. All the great hits they have and it was just "okay" not even sure they sang live. Stephanie Mills was Da Bomb..hands down the show belonged to her. Would love to see her again as a headliner. Her energy and music was awesome Chrisette Michelle held her own also...she's a great vocalist.

Brian McKnight and Anthony Hamilton were simply FANTASTIC. Lala Hathaway was wonderful, she has a great voice like her father's. Tank was great and sexy.. I was a little set back that her didn't have a band , but he did great with his music. we had a wonderful time...We shall return.

Wrapped up in one nutshell! IT TOTALLY STUNK EXCEPT FOR BRIAN MCKNIGHT! TANK DID NOT DESERVE A PENNY, NO BAND, JUST MUSIC AUDIO AND HE TRYING OR ATTEMPING SEDUCTIVE WORDS! TOTALLY AWFUL, NON IMPRESSIVE! LALA HATHAWAY HAD NO SOUND, THE ENGINEERS COULD NOT GET IT TOGETHER! She was much better at the Birchmere, Alexandria, Virginia! Anthony Hamilton, was a total disappointment! I walked out after the third song, he was much better in D.C., and Pier Six, in Baltimore! I give it to Brian McKnight but the last time I travel 3.5 hours to that Hampton Coliseum!

After Leela James' 3rd song, she paused and talked with the audience. An audience member yelled out "We cannot hear you!!!", because we could not. The only microphone that appeared to be working for the drummer was his snare drum. Lots of howling from the system all night long. Very loud gunshot noise that scared everyone during the set change due to disconnecting equipment with the volume turned up. Tank used a CD for his music and it was turned up way too loud. Could not hear Brian McKnight's bass player singing backup. Person came out during an intermission and they would not turn the microphone up for him to make announcements. I paid almost $200.00 to hear these artist's music. The sound technician really messed up the music the entire evening. Watch your video, you will see. I know you won't post my comments because of the negativity, but I tell it like I see it. Warning!!!! If you continue to use that sound tech, you will definitely lose sales. Everyone sitting in my area was extremely disappointed. I have been to many concerts at the Hampton Coliseum with no problems. That sound tech was incompetent, please do not use them again.

Overall I enjoyed the show. Unfortunately, they had a few technical difficulties. I think Lalah Hathaway's performance would have been amazing if they had fixed her microphone. A sound check does wonders. Her microphone was to low and we couldn't hear much of her singing. They didn't get this resolved until her 3rd song. Afterwards, it was excellent. Tank was a bit of a disappointment as well. The bass was so loud, I couldn't appreciate his singing. The bass literally vibrated my body and was reminiscent of a small house party with large speakers for someone in there 20's. He cut the bass and performed on the piano which was the best part of the show and I finally got to appreciate his voice. I thoroughly enjoyed Brian McKnight and Anthony Hamilton. There stage presence was fun and both sounded great.

The music was good. I was shocked that Brian McKnight did better than Anthony Hamilton. Since Anthiny was the headliner I thought he could have stayed in linger and maybe song some of his newer songs. In addition he let his back up singer sing for about 15 minutes while he changed a shirt and then came back and sang two songs. He could have left that wardrobe change alone and sand another song. The venue was good. They had plenty of food and adult beverages and the lines weren't that long. The venue really needs to work on the band changes. There were no hype men so we just watched them change sets. During the set change between Brian McKnight and Anthiny Hamilton it took 35 minutes and they did play some LOW music. In the future maybe someone from the radio station can keep the crowd hype. Most people sat there and took selfies and discussed how long the set changes took. Overall the concert was nice. The venue just needs to work on keeping the crowd busy or interested during set changes.

The Soul Music Festival was great. I enjoy each of the artist. I was never a big fan of Mint Condition, until I seen them live. Mint Condition was great. My Favorite of coarse was Stephanie Mills, I am a big fan since the 80's. Stephanie stole the show. Chrisette Michele was dynamite, she came up against the best and really showed her stuff. The Whispers of coarse was Grea,t so much talent, they make you wonder where has all the good r&b gone.

Chrisette Michele began the evening right exhibiting her excellent vocalist style and her jazzy chit chat with the audience. Mint Condition reminded one of the 70's bands with their high energy performance of talented musicians. Stephanie Mills performed with such joy, grace, high energy, and talent. Stephanie brought the house party and the audience loved it! As always, loved Stephanie singing her version of "Home" from the Wiz. The Whispers performed fewer dance moves Saturday night, but time has not touched their vocal skills. It was great seeing original members of a singing group still performing together for 50 years. However, it would have been nice to have a comedian to perform during the 45 minutes it took the stagehands to set the stage for the Whispers; which is always a problem at Hampton.

My sister and I attended this concert to celebrate our birthdays this past weekend. Of course the highlight was Maze feat. Franky Beverly, who we expected to be at the end of the show. We ended up leaving the show two songs into their act due to poor sound quality. It was getting late and we had become irritable. It was a good thing we knew most of the songs because we were able to somewhat decipher what was being said. Intermissions were really long, about 20 mins, with no MC so the crowd was getting irritated. A little disappointed but we made the best of it.

The concert was great, a little long but it was so many acts that was to be expected. Unfortunately it was hard to enjoy with being crammed into a seat that is meant for a 10 year old girl. It was so uncomfortable and could not move to dance a little to the music. I would go to the concert again just not at the coliseum, they really need to upgrade the seats and give people room to breathe. I almost fell down the stairs because there was a dip on one of the stairs, thankfully I grabbed onto someone I didnt even know to hold me up. It was the WORST!

Every act, Jon B, then Ginuwine, then SWV, Joe and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, was great. Everybody sounded good, sometimes the music was louder than the singer, but otherwise, the sound was good. Jon B, I had never seen him or Ginuwine or SWV perform live before. It was a real treat. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Kelly Price came on to serenade Genuwine for his birthday, SWV brought on a local girl group, they were great. Joe and Frankie were top notch, singing all the hits, everybody sang their hits and the crowd joined in and sang right along with the performers.

I have attended the first and the second HRSMF and it has been a great experience both times! So much that I don't mind driving the 4 hours to get there for the event. Each time the entertainers have exceeded my expectations and the music has been good. Great atmosphere that I believe will only get better with time (the Whispers were part of the itinerary last year :D ) I do agree with the concern regarding the time lapse between some of the performers, but I predict that will improve as well as this festival continues to evolve and grow into the great annual event it is becoming. Hampton is a beautiful city, and worth the visit if you're from out of town, as myself. I won't be able to attend the 3rd annual event this year due to a fundraiser event, but it is my plan to make sure that future years will include me. You will definitely enjoy and appreciate the show. Especially if you love that old school music flavor. I endeavor to attend as many old school concerts as I can when its convenient for me. And as for this one, I am hooked....

I thought this show was amazing. It was my birthday gift to my sister who turned 55 on Nov 7th. All the acts killed it!! I was awed by Brian McKnight. I had never seen him perform before but will definitely try to see him again. I had seen Anthony Hamilton before and he put on a better show this time than the last. I have three complaints: 1: The sound system 2. The amount of time it took to set up the staget between Brain McKnight and Anthony Hamilton and 3. The seating....not enough leg room. We had the $69.00 seats. Good seats but uncomfortable.
