Wow. great sound, beautiful Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, fabulous music, and Itzhak Perlman with wonderful piano accompaniment by Rohan de Silva...is there really any more to say? Knowledgeable concert goers nearby kept commenting during the intermission about Mr. Perlman's magnificent talent and skill. I simply appreciated the beauty of the evening and Mr Perlman's wit!

Beautiful music, poor acoustics though and there was no indication of the programme neither in the actual programme nor anywhere else. it would have been good to know what we were listening to. In the second half, Mr Perlman started to give short introductions to each piece - at least I assume that was what he was doing since we couldn't hear him - no microphone. A very amateur evening at professional prices.

I thought a program outlining the concertos and other pieces that would be played would have been very helpful. But he is amazing, and I survived the omission in a very pleasurable evening.

Fox Theatre was the wrong venue for this great artist, and you could tell Perlman felt it. When he is at a top concert hall, his performance is usually electrifying. Not last night. To compound the problem, there was no program included in the playbill, and the audience applauded after each movement of the major pieces he played. Perlman was clearly annoyed as the audience demonstrated its lack of sophistication. With no set program, he thumbed through sheets of music while deciding what to play in the final portion of the performance. He didn't use a mike, and we couldn't hear his comments as he introduced several short pieces. Mr. Perlman received the standing ovation reserved for a great artist, despite the fact that this particular performance was less than memorable.

I had high expectations going into the event but somehow Perlman blew WAY past my expectations! The venue was perfect...a chance to see Perlman up front and close. I was able to catch a glimpse of his personality and humor and his violin literally sang to me. You could feel his emotions through his music and see how he becomes one with music...there was no separating Perlman from his violin - they were one and the same! Time and time again I shook my head in amazement as he created music that sang to all ages. I don't think I have ever left a concert feeling so energized! If you love music (ANY music), this is a must see event. By the way, Rohan De Silva was absolutely brilliant on the piano...a perfect complement to Itzhak Perlman!

I first saw Itzhak Perlman perform 35 years ago on my college campus. I was dragged along by a friend - I hadn't heard of him before. I have been both in complete awe of his talent and a huge fan ever since. Tuesday's performance was an opportunity for me to treat my 17 year old daughter, who has played violin since she was 10, to what I was certain would be an unbelievable, inspirational, and unforgettable experience. As expected,we were not disappointed. She enjoyed the music itself very much, but confessed that the entire time she also was studying the technical points of his performance that we uninitiated wouldn't know to look for. Although she is a "very cool" high school senior, she actually gasped in amazement, more than once, as Mr. Perlman played unimaginably difficult sections. She also was enthralled during those"teaching moments" when he gave us, the audience, lessons in the finer points of protocol (don't clap between movements, PLEASE!), or background on some of his selections. She was particularly taken with Mr. Perlman's relaxed sense of humor, and his lack of "pomposity." All in all, a spectacular performance and evening, one that neither of us will ever forget. **My one complaint is in regards to the program - the ushers ran out prior to the beginning of the performance - when we were able to get our hands on one on our way out, we were both extremely disappointed to discover that the specifics of the musical program itself were not included. We would love to know what pieces we were so immensely enjoying - other than the final portion of the performance, in which Mr. Perlman introduced each piece himself, we have absolutely no idea what was performed. We were both very surprised and very disappointed by that.

You knew he is one of the greatest violinists before you sat down; but what a performance !!! Not only was his play and that of his pianist spell-binding; Perlman enchanted the audience with his brief talks about the small pieces he played ! His humor really came thru and connected with the audience. It would have been nice to have an insert in the Program as to the major pieces he played. Several people around us were looking for the Program specifics which were not part of the printed Program. A minor aspect to an otherwise breath-taking evening !

There is not a better description. "Beautiful" possibly. There are few things in life that you can't really put a price on because of their true beauty and ability to inspire us. Had wanted to see him in person for about 20 years - finally did it. Music in the first half was lighter than expected. Had hoped to hear a bit of the Four Seasons. But second half was the highlight - hearing him speak is half of the benefit of seeing him. He is gracious, brilliant, funny. Liked the musical selections better in the second half - more of the slow, melodic songs that allow him to make the violin sing.

Itzhak Perlman was absolutely marvelous. I was not only highly impressed with his incredible skill and talent, but the selection of the pieces were so varied from the masters (Beethoven and Stravinsky) to Gershwin and John Willias (The Theme from Schindler's List). It was one of the most enjoyable evenings I've spent in a very long time. I will treasure this as one of the most memorable events of my life. THANK YOU for bringing this event to Atlanta!!

I guess he's a "artist," but talking to the audience without a microphone . . come on! Quarling with an uninformed audience about when to and not to clap . . . come on! Starting late and talking interminable breaks for no apparent reason . . . come on! During his freestyle portion I was afraid someone was going to "offensively" shout out a favorite; "Brahm's 4th, opus 36 . . . that I'm sure would have sent him riding off into the sunset (stager left) on his scooter.

First of all the traffic getting to the performance was awful, but we made it just in time. Not the performers' fault about the traffic. Bach and Mozart were enjoyable and so were one or two of the other selections, but not all of them. This is because of the selections -- not familiar -- not the skills of Pearlman and Zuckerman. My wife and I enjoy pairs figure skating and P and Z were like two skaters --weaving away and then together and demonstrating their artistry. Overall, I enjoy Pearlman's concerts more at BergenPac. More intimate and warmer..

I get emotional just thinking about this event. What an opportunity it was for us to see Perlman for the first time in a live setting. I feel like we caught something amazing and special. The crowd was at a maximum yet once he began to play, all ears were eagerly directed towards him. He made it look SO EASY! As an amateur violinist myself, I know how hard it really is. I bought tickets to this concert because my wife loves classical music and thought the tickets would make a good Christmas gift. We were both disappointed overall with the concert, though. One of the best parts of an Itzhak Perlman concert is to watch his face as he plays. That was impossible from the seats we had. And there was little to no amplification of the sound from the stage, so we felt like those of us in the mezzanine were not really being impacted by the music. Perlman's accompanist's piano was very dominant for many of the pieces, so we had to strain to hear Perlman.

The performance was everything I expected. The UA Presents sound crew completely missed the mark.We missed the first section Vivaldi because from the balcony there wasn't enough volume. This continued for most of the show. The last half was at least audible. The miking on the stage was not correct to pick up the incomparable sound of Perlman's Violin. I would love to see Perlman again in a different venue.

Very disappointed. Not much of Itzhak Perlman. The piano was overpowering and his violin was just a soft accompaniment to the piano. Even the songs that were played at times had so little violin in them that it certainly seemed that the concert was meant for the piano. The song from Schindler List easily should have been a violin solo, but again, we had to listen to the piano.

Loved the intimate performance of just Mr. Perlman and the piano accompaniment at WCC! The concert was about 2 hours and included 3 pieces, a 20-minute intermission, another piece, and then about 6 short songs during the encore. It was amazing beyond words to hear and watch him play. I wish to make it clear that this review is no reflection on Itzhak Perlman's abilities or performance. He is the foremost violinist of our generation. Rather it is a review of the venue, which was unkind to a musician of Mr. Perlman's capabilities. First and foremost, the acoustics are flat and dead in this old movie house. There was absolutely no ambiance to the sound: no reverberation of any sort that one would typically find in a concert hall. No one came on stage to introduce Mr. Perlman nor did anyone provide artist with a microphone. He had to address the audience without any amplification and many people complained they could not hear him. There was no program provided by the Bergen PAC. They did hand out a booklet filled with ads, however. On the front cover was a mirror image of Mr. Perlman holding a violin along with other artists that would be appearing during the season. Thus, Mr. Perlman had a difficult time telling the audience about the pieces he, along with his very capable pianist, would be playing When we purchased the tickets, we were advised the performance would begin at 7:00 p.m. on a Sunday evening. It did not tell us there would be a pre-concert by a local school orchestra. Mr. Perlman didn't appear on stage until almost 7:45. I have no problem supporting student orchestras, but their pre-concert should have started at 6:15. The seats, though with relatively new covers, seemed they were original from the 1940s movie theater and were uncomfortable. Legroom was sufficient as was the HVAC. The lobby of the Bergen PAC may have been fine for people coming and going to see a film, but was too congested for people milling around before the show and during intermission. Restrooms were insufficient to accommodate the crowds during intermission. We decided to leave during the intermission so that our memories of hearing Mr. Perlman's outstanding rendition of Schindler's List (and other popular music he is noted for) would not be soured by this acoustically dead venue.

We were so excited to hear him again and as usual he was fabulous, Even the difficult to hear Ravel piece was enhanced by Perlman's mastery. The was one very annoying problem with the presentation. The volume of Perlman's sweet Stradivarius was drowned many times by the force of the piano or just unintelligible due to lack of volume. We were at the first balcony, first row and had to really strain to get a whiff of the violin or of Perlman's comments. There needs to be a microphone for Perlman. No ifs, buts or maybes.

My husband and I went to watch Itzhak Perlman with great excitement anticipation. But sadly the show was not that good at all. The show was not that good not because Mr Perlman did not play brilliantly . It was not that good because we could not hear him playing at all. There were two instruments on stage , a piano and a violin. For most parts the piano could be heard but not that well. The violin was less to be heard. I think who ever was the sound engineer, did not come to the show. It was disgusting that a professional theatre such as Broward Center for Performing Arts could be this bad. After the first half a lot of people did not come back to watch. Towards the ending of the second half people left not waiting for it to end or even to listen to the many anchor pieces Mr Perlman played. We stayed till the very end bc we admire Mr Perlman even in a night like this.

Perlman is brilliant--talented, personable, and funny. Cantor Helfgott was fab, as were the Klezmer and LA Phil musicians--good selections, heartfelt, wonderful collaboration. So, what's not to like?

Loved Perlman, but was disappointed by having to listen to the cantor all night. Was obvious to many in the crowd as well. I feel like the Hollywood Bowl mislead us as to who was actually performing also. Again spoke with many in attendance and they all said the same thing, why was the cantor there and how come we didn't know about him until we arrived?

I absolutely loved Eternal Echoes! The combination of Itzhak Perlman, Cantor Itzhak Meir Helfgot and the Klezmer Conservatory band was magic. The huge Hollywood Bowl was packed. I was mezmerized by the beautiful music, which, as sung by Cantor Helfgot, had many operatic moments. Other music had me singing along or dancing in my seat. Highly recommended!

Everything about this was amazing!!! I've always been a huge fan of Mr Perlman and the Bowl but this was the first time my mother got to experience either. She keeps asking when he's going to be coming back for another show. The only thing I'd change is that next time I'd also bring my father. Thank you for an amazing night!!!!

I came to see Perlman play some of his great music and all I got was a side show. It's my fault however for not reading the brochure more closely. I never thought the Hollywood Bowl would put on something like this using such an iconic figure as sure fire bait

I love Perlman's violin, but this concert was not for me. I am looking forward to going some other time.

As my first ever experience at the Hollywood Bowl, the Itzhak Perelman "Eternal Echoes" concert was wonderful. The venue was beautiful and the music was great.

I personally don't listen to classical music, but my boyfriend loves it. I have been to other classical music concerts. Compared to Joshua Bell, I liked Itzhak Perlman a lot better. According to my boyfriend, Perlman had more technique and played more well-known and famous pieces. To me, Perlman was more interesting when he introduced the pieces, and any viewer could obviously see that he loved his violin. There were sections in the music where he would just smile, and it was obvious that he loved that part of the piece. He's not only an incredible violinist, but he's an even better performer.

We were seating way up to the balcony. People were talking, making noise... Also let people get in between mouvment, is very distubing. The time that the late people got to their seat Pearlman already start to play again. It was so annoye. We couldn't concentrate 100% to the beautiful playing that pearlman offered to us. I gave 5 starts to Perlman and 1 start for the managing. Hope this review will help you to give a better service, Sasa

Could not fathom how quickly he's able to move his fingers on the violin. Personable and jovial to the audience. Masterful player.

Since his first performance in this venue in 1911 (his date, not mine) he has continued to captivate the audience from the first note to the last. His music takes you to another place, a mellow, uncomplicated, mezmorizing place where the sounds of the violin are soothing and comforting. I did not attend the 1911 concert, but I have been there every year since 1914 and I will continue to go for at least another 100 years. Don't miss him in concert. His musical talents, sense of humor and interplay with the audience make for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Though the first selection was not that inspiring, ever succeeding selection was outstanding. The commentary by Mr. Perlman was in the Victor Borge manner and it was informative and humorous. This is not my first exposure to Mr. Perlman's expertise and certainly not my last. Bravo to Mr. De Silva for his wonderful accompaniment. I would suggest he be allowed a solo as part of a future concert. The team, in this concert , was terrific!!!

The Klezmer Conservatory players were delightful; the orchestra players were terrific! The greatest joy was hearing two of the world's best musicians perform together--Cantor Helfgot and Yitzhak Perlman! Absolutely unforgettable! Absolute joy!

The combination of Itzhak Perlman and Chazzan Yitzchak Meir Helfgot was amazing, and the addition of Hankus Netsky and his band and the orchestra gave the performance some added zest.
