Disneys Beauty and the Beast (Touring)

Disneys Beauty and the Beast (Touring)

Don't miss the smash Broadway musical that's based on the 1991 Disney film. "Beauty and the Beast" tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial French town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an evil enchantress. If the beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will be ended and he will be transformed into his former self. Time is running out.

The Von Braun Center Concert Hall looked great after its renovation. It was much easier to get to seat with the new center aisle. The musical, well it was absolutely a joy. My entire group had a great time and enjoyed it immensely.

Play was exceptional in color, sound and timeless story line. My 15 year old son said he had never heard the story that way! Shame on me. My granddaughters were thoroughly entertained. Well worth the time and the money.

The cast and set were incredible. Three generations went to the show and we all enjoyed it. Some parts are a little scary for kids, so I would talk to them about it before going. My son just closed his eyes at the scary parts and sang along with the rest.

Our seats were amazing and the venue was wonderful. I am thankful to have the opportunity to attend an event of this caliber close to home. No need to travel hundreds of miles to the BIG city! My wife and I and our 5 year old granddaughter saw Beauty and the Beast on March 21 at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux City, Iowa. This was a great rendition of the play that was enjoyable for adults (the singing was exceptional by all cast members) and the kids. The beast was pretty ugly but not real frightening for the little ones and there were plenty of prat falls and comic takes to keep them laughing. The big numbers were stunning, especially "Be Our Guest". Gaston was outstanding and you could tell the actor who portrayed him (sorry, do not know his name) was really having fun. A wonderful night of first rate entertainment for all of us!

We had seen the Broadway version of this play, and were wondering what the road show would be like. We took our two daughters and their families and they absolutely loved it! Except for a few minor stage effects, it was just as good as the Broadway version. It was touching when a little boy behind us started crying when the Beast appeared to be dying.

This musical was absolutely amazing! I was worried about the "scary" parts of this story, but it was presented in a way that was not shocking and loud.... they put the wolves and darkness behind a beautiful see-through curtain. The beast added a bit of personality to his character with his own quirks and comments. My girls actually laughed quite a bit! Phenomenal voices.... done just right! Thank you Disney!

Jam outdid itself with the Beauty and the Beast! The cast was outstanding! The scenery changes were so subtle that you hardly noticed the men crouched over ready to spring to life to move a stairway or chair and change the room and/or location. I enjoyed the whole evening and would gladly go again!

This production was very well done and I was pleasantly surprised at what a lavish production it was for a smaller population. The talen was fantastic and did the musical numbers proud. Overall the show was delightful, very entertaining and heart warming. Parts were a bit unnecessarily long and bit boring (the villagers). Based on the lion king, I expected a grander production. The beast was a little disappointing; a taller actor would have been better.

Beauty and the Beast was a great first theatrical event for my 7 year old niece. She was a bit anxious as to what to expect....she definitely enjoyed the show. The play was excellent and the cast was great. Sitting in the balcony was a little difficult - at times it was hard to hear some of the dialogue and there were a couple of scenes where the characters were up on the "staircase" and the view was blocked by the scenery around the stage. Other than that, though, it was excellent. Personally, I thought a couple of the songs that were added to the play and not in the movie were unnecessary and added to the length of the play, but still nothing to really complain about.

Overall I did not have a good experience with the show or theatre. I went to the 7 pm show and paid a decent amount for even balcony seats. People and children were very loud and rude, speaking or changing chairs during the entire show. We could hardly hear the actors. Our seat was right below the lighting crew so we also had a tough time seeing the stage. I am glad I didn't not pay the few hundred dollars for floor seats because the show was not worth even the money that I spent. I was very disappointed with the theatre, show, and seating.

I was very happy with the majority of the show! It was really done well. I was disappointed however, to find out that, the lead, Bell would have an understudy going on for a Friday night performance. I did spend a good amount of money on the tickets and this did put a damper on the performance. It was clear that she was a replacement. In addition to that, there were three other understudies; one of them for Lefou. :(

I would recommend seeing Beauty and the Beast, with one caveat. The orchestra for the touring group is small. I wanted a more full sound. Overall, the performance was very good, although I'm not sure I can say "excellent." Some of the acting was too "cartoon-y" even for a Disney animated movie adaptation. In particular, the Beast did not evoke enough of a sense of fear. He, and much of the cast, was catering to the children in the crowd. In the "On Broadway" version, there was a slightly more professionalism. I will admit this is a very particular concern that does not take away from the overall enjoyment of the performance.

We were amazed at how well the scenes and necessary scene changes were integrated, how smoothly everything was done. All the actors and actresses were very good in their roles, and although the actor for the Beast was very good, we were a bit disappointed with him because he was (or seemed) short in comparison to others on the stage, instead of being taller and/or bigger. Overall, the play was excellent and followed the original story very well.

This was the first time I was able to purchase front row center seats and it was well worth the price! We took our daughter, who just turned 2, because she kept on asking to go when the television commercials would come on. She was scared at first because the lights were low and the stage was dark except for the lit rose, but when the music started and the singing filled the hall she was glued to the stage. I have always loved the story and when Disney made the animated movie I was hoping a Broadway play would make its way to Honolulu, and when it did I just had to go see it! It was everything I had expected and more, the music, actors, characters, and overall setting was truly enchanting. It brought you into the world of Bell and the Beast, and with all the characters in the castle it was very enjoyable to watch. I would strongly recommend this production to family and friends to go watch this. Now, if only Aladdin would make an appearance!

I was looking forward to this event for a while. I have seen the show years ago on Broadway in Manhattan and I loved every minute of it. This show was a big disappointment from start to finish. Belle was not good at all. Her voice was not strong enough and I did not feel like she fit the character at all. She seemed as if she was not in Character. We sat in the orchestra towards the back and could barely hear the dialogue. They also added a lot of scenes that were not necessary. I was actually bored and could not wait for it to be over which is sad considering it is my all time favorite Disney movie. However, all the other characters I felt did do a great job they all had powerful voices especially Gaston! There were a few funny moments that I did laugh at but over all I would not recommend to spend the money to see it.

Whenever you go into a Disney musical production you will always compare it to the movie version. This production of Beauty and the Beast met those milestones you were expecting with some fun new surprises. The dialogue had a lot more adult jokes and provided more insight into new characters. My only complaint are minor. The orchestra was a little too loud at points drowning out the dialogue which may have been due to the smaller venue size. The iconic yellow dress was also lack luster. Other then that an enjoyable evening for all.

Performance lacked energy and certain cast members seemed to be just going thru the motions. Dancing often lacked the technique professionals should exhibit; it's not that hard to point your toes and straighten the knees! Leads should have been miked better during solos, difficult to hear lyrics over the orchestra (which was excellent). This was day 2 of the run, the sound issue should have been fixed during the 1st perf. Lumiere took 1/3 of the show to get his accent consistent and did not appear to be even trying to sound French at the beginning, which I found distracting/ sloppy acting. On the plus side, sets and scenery were terrific and the scene changes cleverly done. Lighting and lighting effects were excellent!

Fair to Poor - a disappointment to be sure. Being a long-time lover of the story and show, I was surprised by the obvious omission of 2 numbers (We're Not Odd and La Maison de Lunes) from the program. The jump over of these pieces added to the disjointed and choppy feel of the production. The understudy for Belle should have studied more before being put on stage - extra voice lessons to learn true pitch would have helped as well. The scenery was quite good, the method of scene changes by gargoyle stage hands very enjoyable and smooth. Lighting was excellent. Sound was adequate at best - and we were seated 7th row center orchestra - the EQ was thin, the voices shrill. Gastone was the true shining star in this performance; Lumiere a close second. The rest of the cast was equal to a good collegiate effort at best Overall - a disappointing and flat evening - leaving both of us wondering why we had come.

I love this particular theater, its small enough to feel quaint and big enough for larger productions and not feel cramped. We had seats in the mezzanine and they offered a nice view of the stage. The show itself was spectacular, though it did deviate from the original movie enough to make it fresh and new. The actors were engaging and the orchestra was on point. I took my 8 yr old son and while he thought it would be "too girly" he loved it all the more because Gaston and his buddies were seriously hilarious and overly macho. A note: please be respectful of your neighbors and put the cell phones down. Its horribly distracting to have people on the phone, taking pictures, ringing and letting kids play games.

The acting and singing and dancing were all fabulous. The lighting and stage and orchestra were all fantastic. The story line was spot on. Made you laugh and cry. I would certainly go and see this show again.

The show was truly amazing! I really enjoyed it and I would definitely see it again! The music was awesome! I liked how they used songs from the original Disney movie and they also had some original songs. The actors were fantastic!! Their voices sounded exactly like the Disney movie. It was a great show. I am really glad that I saw the ad in the local paper and bought tickets.

What a great show! I brought my 3 year old granddaughter who couldn't keep her eyes off of the stage. The characters, singing, dancing all were excellent! I saw this on Broadway several years ago, and this was just as memorable!

The performance was amazing. The scenery was colorful and added to the performance. The performers had amazing voices. We were on the edge of our seats during the whole play. We would definitely recommend this production for all ages.

I brought my older daughter (24) on Wednesday. The actors were awesome and great performers. There were only 2 nights of the performance. Many children were there from 7:00pm until 10:00 pm. I think it is wonderful that parents take their children to these events. Maybe for the younger children a afternoon performance for families to attend.

The show was extremely well done and the cast was superior. They easily rivaled the broadway cast. My 4 and 6 year olds were fully engaged the whole time!

This show was amazing. The only complaint I would have is the ushers were slightly rude.

Not a bad voice in the cast, no one voice overpowered another. They were all in great spirits and it showed through in every scene and song. The improvisations were great, I never heard a crowd laugh so much all together, even children. Great job on making a familiar commonly known story memorable!
