Flyleaf

Following the release of the much-acclaimed EP Who We Are in 2013, alternative rock group Flyleaf announced its intention to return with a full-length album in 2014. The sheer energy and haunting lyricism of the album echoed qualities of past Flyleaf tours, in which the band fused a unique melodic element with a hard rock feel. Flyleaf’s energetic presence on stage is contagious with guitarists Jared Hartmann and Sameer Bhattacharya dancing as they strum. The release of Who We Are marked the first major achievements since the step-down of original lead vocalist Lacey Sturm.

Flyleaf a Texan band lead by the diminutive "front woman" Lacy Mosley churned out some pleasantly loud and heavy rhythmic music notwithstanding an even more diminutive venue. The Regency Ballroom is a converted two level movie theater with a visually pleasing architectural interior design and with adequate acoustics. Flyleaf performed with an abundance of energy with some of the members literally flying around the stage! The only break in the mayhem was Mosley s personal and heartfelt monologue on the healing affects of charity; I didn t mind the break because it gave me a chance to catch my breath!

Flyleaf has been my favorite band for a long time. They have such a passion for God and for their music. God and this band have changed my life so much. before the show, i saw Jared on the street walking with his wife and talked to him for a bit, and I got to meet them and gave them a thank you letter.

The entire show was full of energy that kept the crowd involved in the music. The sound was amazing and each song played just blew me away. Flyleaf did not disappoint; they played really well and even played some new stuff which was really cool. You could tell that Flyleaf is the real deal, they feel their music and it shows as they play. I would love to see this band again.

This was my first time to see Flyleaf but not my first time at a concert. A friend I took to the concert however, it was her first concert and she had an amazing time. I'm glad that Flyleaf was her first concert experience because my first concert wasn't all that great. The other two bands, even though we didn't know them, we both really enjoyed. They put on a great show, and since it was the last show of their tour they had some added fun, another pleasant experience.

Well I was unaware flyleaf got a new lead singer. Which made the show a little disappointing. Fit for rivals was by far my favorite band of the night. Most of the band's were heavy metal.. borderline screamo...Which is not my favorite genre.. I like to know what they're singing....But overall I enjoyed the show. State theatre is definitely one of my favorite locations for concerts

I have seen Adelitas Way before & was excited to see them again, along with Flyleaf. I have been listening to Flyleaf since they first came out & had yet to see them. I was aware Lacey left the band, but was disappointed in her replacement. Go to this show to see Framing Hanley & Adelitas.

Omg the concert was awsome the only thing that I didnt like is that the stage was very low. It shoulsve been higher so we couldve seen the bands on stage better but other than that it was awsome. Especially after the concert was done i got to meet all the bands and get autographs :-)

Snocore in Portland Maine was an amazing show! All the bands really got the crowd into the music and, while having their own individual styles, meshed together really well. I was only familiar with flyleaf going into the show but ended up also buying stuff for Fit for rivals. They really impressed. Again, a great time and a must see for rock fans!

All four bands did a great job engaging their fans, which really made this event special. We were lucky enough to purchase a VIP experience with Flyleaf so we got to meet the band and see an acoustic performance. That performance was more laid back than what we saw on stage, but we got to see how amazing Kristen May really is. I loved to see Samir milling around in the crowd during the Framing Hanley set. We saw Kristen out watching Adelitas Way as well so they really support the other bands on tour with them. We didn't know anything about Framing Hanley before the show so they really blew us away. Amazing vocals from those guys. The best part was that members from all four bands were at the merch booths after the Flyleaf performance The only thing that was almost a problem was that there were some technical difficulties when they were setting up for Flyleaf. I was concerned that they weren't going to have time to play much since they could only play until midnight. Might want to start this an hour earlier with four bands.

Fit for Rivals were amazing I don't know what it was about them but it just hit me, and I can't stop listening to them. Framing Hanley was great as well , couldn't ask for more. But for the 3rd act Adelitas Way, all I heard was feedback their entire set which was way too long, I couldn't wait for it to be over! But Flyleaf saved the night with an amazing performance!

Went to see primarily Fit For Rivals and I was not disappointed. They were awesome right from their set down to meeting them in person and chatting for a few minutes! Adelitas Way was awesome as well and they just rocked it out! Framing Hanley sounded awesome and I thought their live show was better than their albums. Flyleaf I was on the fence about with their new lead singer but I think she did a great job and I still love them live. Second time seeing them!!

Okay, so I have liked Flyleaf for quite a while but for some reason had doubts about how they would be live. Well, those doubts are now totally gone. They were awesome and played / performed with so much emotion it was great. They had a good connection with the (way to small) audience and I was totally touched. I am so glad I went.

The venue was awesome, it had character and was small so the concert felt intimate. The bands were so close no matter where you were. Flyleaf owned it. They did so well, the new singer was so awesome. She jumped in the crowd to sing a song with us, and crowd surfed on another song, she was real confident and genuine feeling. The lyrics are so passionate and impactful making the concert more than just a concert. It was rad, simply put.

The show was acceptable the lead singer does have an amazing voice and the band sounds fairly good. One of the problems ws that they had to connection whatsover with the audience. The sound quality was terrible, the lead singer's voice was even more high pitch than she sounds on the radio making it painful to the ears, and she kept preaching to the audience and telling stories of god (I go to a concert for music, not to be preached to). I've been to a lot of concerts in my life and this is among the few I walked out on.

The openers, Story of the Year, had more energy than I've ever seen from any band and good music. They were very entertaining and a nice band to have opening to warm the crowd up. Flyleaf was spot on and played a great set; Lacey had some touching words and interacted with the crowd quite a bit. Not to mention she sounded as great as usual. I loved the show and will see them again once they're back in Texas!

My daughter is a die-hard Flyleaf fan and we had attended their concert in Austin one month earlier. Flyleaf is very unpretentious and she got to see the band before and after the concert. This made her concert experience over the top. Needless to say she was broken hearted when, after she had earned and spent her own money to see them in San Antonio, the AT& T Center security was so tight that she was unable to even catch a glimpse of them other than on stage. So, if you're looking for a great concert, Flyleaf is definitely a great one. But if you want to be able to meet and talk to the band, don't see them at the AT&T Center.

I have seen story of the year many times and they never dissapoint! The crowd and venue fit my concert behavior to a tee! Was able to have some beers, walk around, get up to the front row without a problem, mosh without getting injured, crowd surf, and probably best of all got to meet the band by their tour bus after the show. Flyleafs music sounded good but the singing was difficult to understand because it was being drowned out by the music. The singer also kept using the breaks in between songs to bring attention to her religous beliefs and other social issues in the world, which is not my idea of a good rock show.

Flyleaf proved, once again, they know how to rock and keep their audience engaged. From start to finish every song received a round of cheers and applause. The setlist was great, pulling most songs from their newest cd but not leaving out the gems from their first. With arms raised, hands clapping, and fists in the air, Flyleaf left everyone wanting more. They always have such a great amount of energy on stage. Sameer runs around while being consumed with the music. Pat flies off of anything he can, while head-banging and singing along with Lacey at moments. Jared is the most stable but still knows how to rock and provides some awesome guitar sounds to the mix. James delivers with his consistent and solid beats. And as we know Lacey is all over the stage spinning, raising her arms in the air, and belting out her inspiring lyrics to the crowd. The stage setting was nice as well. The artwork was pretty cool. It was an awesome experience and I definitely recommend seeing Flyleaf to anyone new or familiar to their music. They have a great, positive message in their lyrics and still know how to rock the stage. Unforgettable and memorable, I will definitely being seeing this band live for years to come. Thanks again Flyleaf! =)

This was my second Flyleaf concert. They absolutely blew me away. They have such beautiful hearts and wonderful stage presence. I love all of their songs, but the one song that always leaves me speechless is the cover of John Mark McMillan's "How He Loves." Flyleaf is a Christian band and I love that they never lose sight of Him. The fact that they would include this worship song into their show means so much to me. Overall, I loved them. I loved Story of the Year. I loved worshipping with them.

I am a big fan of both bands however Flyleaf is not very good live. The band did not really engage the crowd at all. And the instrumental music was way too loud, you couldn't even hear what Lacey was saying. It was so loud that I couldn't even tell she was singing at all! I felt like the majority of the people who showed up were there for Story of the Year. I loved them live. They out-shined Flyleaf by miles!!! In between songs was great too. Dan was very funny and the whole band was great to watch. Instrumentally it was a little too loud but Dan sang loud enough for me to hear that he was actually singing. Had I not been a fan of Flyleaf I would not have been able to tell one song from another. I was really disappointed by them but pleasantly surprised by Story of the Year. Unfortunately I grew bored with Flyleaf and I don't think I will attend another one of their shows. When it comes to Story of the Year, I definitely would see them again. They were awesome!!!!

There are few bands today that can match the energy and heart as honestly as Flyleaf. The lead singer Lacey Mosley has a talent that has not yet fully been realized. A talent that I'm sure will continue to grow as she challenges herself and her band to reach new heights. This humble and soft spoken singer bursts into her sets with a fervor and compassion likened to Janis Joplin. Her message, one of peace, her mission, one of understanding. Absolutely a must see band of this generation.

The Fair to Midland band headed by lead singer Darroh Sudderth came on stage to the sound of what one would expect when seeing Munks march by. Halfway threw the chanting the band breaks into song with Darroh showing us his vocal range from the death scream to his high falsetto. They played for about 25 minutes and kept the croud wondering what was coming next. 10 Years came on stage next just instantly starting off with rock and roll. Jesse Hasek has great pipes and can really keep the croud energized. He gave shout outs to both Fair to Midland and Flyleaf durring their set. At one point durring the concert he even layed down in the audience and croud surfed. Jesse also told every one to jump up and down when the song really gets into it. He put on a great energized show, wich kept everyone buzzing right up to when Flyleaf took the stage. Lacey Mosley gave a great show with her amazing vocal ability. Flyleaf had the croud on their feet and singing along with them the entire show. At one point Lacey stood up on a Speaker and talked about her sister and the struggles that all families go thru and have and really encouraged the fans to stay positive and remember there is help. Flyleaf had the flashing lights and the guitartists standing on speakers and Lacey spinning on stage. They had an amazing performance and had everyone buzzing about their favorite parts as soon as the show ended. Flyleaf is a great band that everyone young and old would love to go see, and should see at least once... but I would recommend more than once.

Fair to Midland- This was my first time listening to them as well as seeing them. They put on a great performance. You could tell they were really trying, but at the same time having a great time on stage, which made for a great show. Great job guys! 10 Years- This was also my first time seeing them, they did a fantastic job. They really wanted the audience to get more involved, but the rules of the venue would not allow for it. I think we were scared of getting kicked out, and would rather do nothing and get to stay and see the concert. I personally saw quite a few people getting taken out by security. Flyleaf- All I can say is WOW! I have seen Flyleaf numerous times and this time around, they did wonderful. Lacey totally surprised me with her mini speech about her sister and whatnot, and actually thanking fans for being there, and then she said "I am no better than any of you in here", which totally blew me away. What a complete turn around from past concerts. Outstanding job Lacey! Great performance by Flyleaf!

I have been to many shows in the past but there was something about Flyleaf that was just amazing. The showman ship of the band was outstanding, but there was something more to it than that. There was something so "real" about them, something you aren't going to find in most of the bands out there. They love the music, but they love God more. A band with a purpose, greater than themselves, is truly a band I want to see again.

Flyleaf is a great band. Flyleaf definitely put on an awesome show. The sound at the venue was amazing. The crowd was great, mashing and moshing to sounds like Beautiful Bride and I'm So Sick! After they played there set and were off stage, we started an encore chant. After a minute or two it seemed like it wasn't going to happen but the crowd kept at it. Finally Lacey and Sameer came back out to inform us that they normally don't do encores. To our surprise the two performed an acoustic encore of Believe in Dreams.

Flyleaf was amazing!! They were very energetic with the crowd. They Got into it interacted with everyone, and made it fun. The whole band made the show great because of their outgoing and joking personalities. T hey joked around, playing jokes on the other bands. It was an overall exciting show. They sounded great, I reccomend them to everyone!

Story of the Year should have been the headliner. Then it would have been a 5 star show.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SHOW! I have been waiting for an opportunity to see Flyleaf for quite sometime. This is an interesting and original band with a sound all its own. Their sound is a heavy alternative mix combined with meaningful lyrics. Finally, a band with something REAL to say. The arrangements are simple, but artistically complicated by the talents' of the band's individual members. The variations from the studio recordings were surprising and entertaining. I thought I knew every song that the band has released but I was surprised with the last song performed, I had not heard this song until I attended the show. It was incredible by the way Stage presentation was impressive. Lighting was perfect. Sound mixing / management had a few flaws but overall very high quality. The show was particularly intimate in this smaller venue. The staff and facilities were excellent.

SHOW WAS AMAZING. FIRST TIME AT THE PAGEANT AND WILL DEFINITELY SEE MORE SHOWS THERE. YOU CAN GET ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE STAGE OR SIT AT A TABLE. WHERE EVER YOU ARE YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE STAGE. IT WAS THE BEST VENUE I'VE BEEN TO FOR A CONCERT.

After hearing mixed reviews of my favorite band's ability to put on a stellar show, I knew I had to see for myself. I didn't expect a whole lot from it, which added to my amazement. Flyleaf was charismatic and full of life and spirit. All members were moving around the stage, interacting with the crowd, and putting on the best performance I've ever seen. Lead singer Lacy Sturm even met a large crowd of fans out back for a meet and greet, signing autographs, shaking hands, talking, and allowing pictures. As sweet as her voice is, she was much sweeter in person. Story of The Year also put on a great show, interacting with the crowd, going into the crowd, and testing exactly how durable the stage was. They were very energetic, and their presence was felt through the entire audience. The guitarist did backflips, and the bassist made his way off the stage, and played in the middle of the crowd, and even finished their set standing atop the bar. Together, these two bands put on a spectacle that I will not soon forget. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes seeing a great light display, mixed with stellar performances full of charisma, and amazing vocals. Top notch show that was worth far more to me than the price of the ticket. Thank you, both Story of the Year and Flyleaf. You have a diehard fan for life!

Flyleaf was so awesome. They played most of the songs off their two albums. I was a little disappointed that they didn't play "Breathe Today" but they can't play every song.

I am not a huge fan of Story of the Year, but they were good. I have to say that I respect Flyleaf tremendously for their Christian stance. It's certainly not easy in today's world. Their music and on-stage presence was also very good.

Okay so i just got dragged to this concert cuz my girl really likes flyleaf and i wasn't thinking that it was gonna be that great of a show because i typically attend metal shows (lamb of god, unearth, all that remains, trivium etc.) so i didn't expect much. I especially didn't expect Story of the Year to be so damn energetic and heavy! I was headbanging for their entire show and got *mosh-blocked* close to the end of their show but that's a different story entirely. Then flyleaf came on and i didn't think they could top the energy that Story of the Year brought on stage with them but not only did they return it they blew it out of the water in a unique way. Lacey (i think that's how her name is spelled) would be all chill singing and the bassist and guitarist would be running around going friggin CRAZY! It was all in all an amazing show and Lacey was awesome with her delivery of her messages during the show. It was a very spiritual experience for me and that's saying alot from a guy who didn't think that the show would even be that entertaining to begin with. Bottom line - excellent show! I would definitely go again!

Story of the Year opened for Flyleaf, if you don't know them, look them up! They rocked! Flyleaf was awesome as well but between the two performances the balance for the instrumentals was raised too much and some times it was hard to hear her. Other than that they rocked! She/they are great performers and very down to earth! Had a great time and would go again! The venue was small but perfect! Great set up.

This was the first time i had seen Flyleaf in concert even though ive loved their music for a long time. This tour called Memento Mori was epic. They put on a great show. What made Flyleaf so amazing is Lacey sings every song with emotion like its the first time shes ever sang it. like shes presently going through whatever caused her to write the song. her expressions show shes reflecting on that time, and allow you to get lost in the song and help you relate to it. A couple songs Lacey talked about before singing, theyre meaning - why they mean something to her or in what ways she would like the song to inspire others. It really helps you get to know the artist a lot more. She talks about her convictions, gives oppurtunity to support a cause that the band supports. I definately recommend supporting Flyleaf in their tour. Its a great show and it wont dissapoint :)

The performance was headlined by Flyleaf, but Story of the Year stole the show. They had so much more energy than the lead singer of Flyleaf. They got the whole crowd into each and every one of their songs. Flyleaf was okay, but not worth the amount paid. Story of the Year, however, was worth every penny.

the performance was good, but at times the music (guitar, drums, etc) was louder than lacey's singing. that was annoying. I was in a great spot on the floor so I could hear everything. The performance was also very short (about 1 hr 45 minutes). this was disappointing. I saw them at the Zydeco in Birmingham, AL in 2008 and the show was almost 4 hours long, they stayed afterwards to sign cds and posters ( I got a signature). I dont know why the show was so short. I paid 28.00 for tickets to this show and 17.00 for the one back in Birmingham and it was longer.

Flyleaf did a wonderful job playing a pretty long setlist and not taking breaks in the middle of it. They were full of energy and made the audience feel loved. The only thing I wish they'd change is Lacey's speech from show to show. I saw them at the end of the last tour in Nov. 2009 at the Loft, and the other night at Center Stage, she gave the same speeches between songs. I would've liked a more unique experience at the second show...separating it from the first.

Overall, I enjoyed Flyleaf's show, but the sound wasn't great. You could hardly distinguish the two guitars and bass from one another. I've never been to a show before at Center Stage in Atlanta, so it may have been an issue with the acoustics at the venue. From what I could hear of Lacey's vocals, she sounded great, and I thought she had some thought-provoking things to say between songs that I hope will cause people to dig a little deeper into the lyrics. As a Christian, I was disappointed in the opening act due to some of the language and crude remarks. There were some young kids in the audience that I wish hadn't been exposed to it. I also wondered how Flyleaf felt about the number of teenagers there to see them, kids they were trying to reach with their message of hope and help in God, that were subjected to the inappropriate things the opening band was saying. So, the poor sound along with the opening band left me wishing I was somewhere else. "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy\u2014meditate on these things." story of the year-completely rocked it. they got the crowd pumped up, it was hard not to mosh in that venue. flyleaf was amazing, you couldn't ask for a better performance. I am completely in love with this band. This was my second time seeing them and they were even better then the first. the only thing that could've been better is if they came back on for an encore. I got the crowd started with "one more song" chant, but it didn't last long. haha, oh well, i can't wait to see them again!

Story of the Year gave an energetic performance with great vocals. Sounded just like the CD. Flyleaf was slightly less energetic, but had nice lighting effects. Neither band really played to the crowd. SOTY did initiate one moshpit though it only lasted the last half of one song. The crowd was very unenergetic. No moshpits really, no crowdsurfing, not much movement at all really.

The show actually started 10 minutes early, a pleasant surprise as it seems shows can't get started on time these days. The next surprise was the opening band, Story of the Year, they were actually very good and worth listening to. The set was changed promptly and Flyleaf came out soon after. It seemed Lacey wasn't as energetic as in previous shows, she left the jumping around to the band. But that's just a quibble, it was a great show. There was no encore. Don't know if this is due to the venue (this is my second concert at Center Stage and neither had encores) or a new trend in concerts. (if it is a new trend, I approve) If you haven't been to Center Stage, it's a good venue; holds a decent amount of people, but nearly every seat is a good seat.

Flyleaf was engaging, especially from a visual standpoint. But their show was marred by typically lame "hard rock" sound mixing that overemphasized sound pressure levels (along with way too much bass) to the detriment of everything else. Lacey's vocals were swallowed up by all those long standing waves and her lyrics were impossible to hear in the din. I just don't understand why sound mixers think too much is right for this kind of show. Volume isn't a substitute for clarity and real emotion, and these musicians are way too good to be drowned in a sea of their own sonic soup. The band was wearing in-ear monitors, so I'm sure they have no idea how punishing the sound was to the audience.
