Ani DiFranco

ANI DIFRANCO IN CONCERT:Alt-rock powerhouse and feminist icon Ani DiFranco continues to be a symbol of activism through music, pulling no punches with her socially conscious songwriting more than 20 years after her debut. At her inspiring live shows DiFranco gives it her all, delivering her unfiltered lyrics with a raw emotionalism that perfectly complements her polished guitar playing. From classics like "Shameless" to newer material like "Whose Side Are You On?", DiFranco covers a wide selection of favorites on her latest tour, never failing to have a blast in the process.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Born in Buffalo, NY, DiFranco was a precocious young talent, performing Beatles covers in local bars as early as age nine.

The Ani DiFranco show at the Carolina Theater was wonderful! We sat up in the second balcony - & while we couldn t get further from the stage ... there is no bad seat in the house! Ani is a woman with a voice, and we are so happy we had the opportunity to see her! The show was FANTASTIC!

One thing that made this concert great that there was no pushing on the floor, which made you able to actually enjoy the concert, and not worried about getting smushed. As usual, Ani is a brilliant artist and she paired with an awesome new band, and us in Seattle were there largest audience ever. Both artists spoke from the heart and spoke directly to the audience, refreshing!

My concerts experience has become a before and after Culture Room. Everything is great about this place: the sound, the stage, the distribution of the space, the people, the music, and the energy of all those elements mixed together to create pure magic. Ok, enough about the venue. Ani DiFranco, was GREAT!! Excellente creative musician and singer, very funny and authentic with her audience. I just adore her. If you guys haven't seen her live, please do. Don't miss the chance. You won't regret it.

This is was my third year seeing Ani Difranco at Humphreys in San Diego and all three times have been great. I love that I can purchase a package that includes front row seats, a one nights stay, and dinner. The venue itself is great! So in all I had a wonderful time. It's always like a mini vacation.

As always, Ani was simply amazing... Never have I seen a more entertaining show. I literally got goosebumps throughout her entire set. As an artist... she is among the stars. I will definitely be going to another one of her shows.... like every show she has around my area. It was my friends first time seeing Ani live and she was not let down in the least bit. The set list was phenomenal and the energy was top notch. I have often described Ani live as simply orgasmic. Ani, as well as her other band members seem to 'make love' to their instruments... To watch something so magical as the interaction between an artist and their instrument is life changing. The passion she shows with her guitar is something that isn't learned though, either your born with it or your not.... Ani.... was definitely born with it :0)

As expected Ani DiFranco pours herself wholeheartedly into her performance. Rocks it. And makes the girls cry. Emoting with a passion and energy usually not seen after an artist "makes it" (even some of her most notable peers have jumped the shark), and an uncanny knack for weaving her poetry into non-standard guitar riffs with an end product that somehow is universally appealing, Ani whipped the crowd into a frenzy with each quick-fire guitar change and new song. Adding to the flow of the night and sense of intimacy was the club itself. The shift from the Rex to Diesel brought everyone within hugging distance (if not closer) of one another and made the overall feel more like something you'd see in a club on Bourbon Street, with the notable exception of having a true headliner on the stage. A Great Night Out.

The concert started with Guggenheim Grotto- Who is actually on my favorites on Pandora Radio. In my opinion a dude from Ireland starting a show is always a good beginning. Ani was great- better than I could have imagined from being a listener for so long. The only thing I didn't like was the venue actually- I was on the upstairs floor- and had trouble actually seeing the stage.

Ani DiFranco played a wide array of songs from old to new, and Madame Gandhi was a fun opening act. The Neptune is one of my favorite Seattle venues. I m disabled, and they let me in right before the doors opened to secure a great spot above the crowd in the raised bar area so I could enjoy the show from my wheelchair.

Ani was HI energy, right on, playing a mix of old favorites and new favorites.. This was -for her- a large venue, and she filled it well with fans who have been fans for years.. Right from the start, she played one of my favorites: Shy, and by the end she had us dancing and singing to: Gravel... This woman is one of the best poet/ singer/ songwriters/ performers I have ever personally heard.. So few have heard her, or know of her that it is a shame because she is a treasure... Love is never ideal for most of us, and has never been ideal for me, and I guess love has never been ideal for her; but she knows passion, and she knows desire, and she knows regrets, and betrayal, and defeat, and -has the will to keep moving on. You can't stop some one like that, and shouldn't even try, and it is best to get out of her way.. The women of this world need more of what she has. That woman will stand up for her rights, but will also stand up for rights for humanity, for decency.. We all pay a price for standing on the right side of injustice, and she has paid a larger price -dollar wise than any of us can calculate... But on her side of injustice stand the people you can count on, the good people and the honorable.. With her I count myself among friends. And I will say that she has the ability with her guitar to add such emotional color to her words that she can multiply their power beyond description.. We are often moved by music.. I am moved by hers.. If I had the power, I would make everyone in the world a lot more like her, and by that I mean more honest about experience and emotion..

I've seen Ani multiple times over the years and she didn't disappoint! This was truly the best I've seen her! She played a great mix of some of our old favorites with a few newer songs and just a tiny bit of political undertone to make sense of all this ridiculous election madness. We were thrilled to hear Shy, Gravel, Both Hands, As Is, Joyful Girl, and Two Little Girls. Ani has so much energy on stage, shares quirky but wonderful stories with her audience, and plays a great long set, though we wish she could have stayed on stage all night. We never wanted it to end!!!

Great show. Ani treated us to some deeper cuts, and not just the "greatest hits" she played the last time at this venue. The flow from Coming Up > To The Teeth > Welcome To was amazing. Crowd was too noisy. We could barely hear opener Ana Egge. The upstairs bartender was especially disruptive, and spent most of the show talking at the top of his lungs to two girls. Unacceptable. So good show in a terrible venue with terrible staff.

This is probably the 10th time I've seen Ani since I fell in love with her music and lyrics in '95. She's still the most ferocious live performer and she always combines a great mix of old and new songs. And the Music Hall of W'burg is my favorite venue to see her perform. Ani really makes you think while performing beautifully and with respect to her craft. While she sang several of her old classics, like "Gravel," "Untouchable Face," and "42 Flavors, she also graced us with unrecorded new material and some of her more obscure older tracks. My favorite parts of the show were her performances that tied into her more political songwriting, as well as her bits of talking in between. You get the feeling that she really respects and loves her audience and enjoys being in dialogue with them. All in all, I will definitely see her again. I have been an Ani fan since the mid 90's (Dilate era) and used to attend her concerts whenever she came to town. I've missed the last few, though, and was excited/apprehensive about returning. Ani did a fantastic job, though! Played songs from just about every album and she is still one of the best at stage banter and engaging the audience. Ani, of course, has the chops to tear through any of her songs with abandon! On top of it all it is great to see her seem like she enjoys performing SO much and seems to be very happy overall. I don't think I've ever heard a more upbeat performance of "Untouchable Face" and wish it was available on record. :-)

I've seen Ani quite a few times over the last 10 or so years and how she stays so consistently great live is crazy. Her vocals and energy are off the charts. She's funny, engaging and smart. We had a great time. It was the last show of the tour which can be good or bad. Sometimes performers are out of gas and sometimes they pour it on because they want to finish on a high note. This was more of the latter. A good mix of the old classics and a couple of brand new ones. The Uptown in Napa is amazing and from now on, I'll skip SF and forego the expensive parking and headaches for the folksy charm of Napa.

The unlikely pairing of the energetic new mom Ani DiFranco with the studio quality acoustics of the Chan Centre were truly remarkable! In her own words "The music has no where to hide in here"

Ani DiFranco always puts on a wonderful show playing her guitar like no other person can. The acoustics were great in the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and we couldn't have asked for a better night!

I had bought her 'Live at Babeville' dvd and it was only the tip of the iceberg of how great she is live and in person.

There were WAY too many people talking in the hallway during Paula Cole, it was rude and SO loud in the theater - you could hear the people talking over Paula, it was kinda nuts and really distracting.

I enjoyed very much this performance. Paula Cole, new to my ears, was extremely professional, and she put her soul into it, so it was very moving and touching. Ani DiFranco, having the fastest fingers on the guitar, was amazing, and very accurate. However there was a terrible bass sound that was very loud and made it difficult to hear her lyrics. it was quite disturbing, and very unprofessional.

Ani was impeccable. Paula was fantastic. And the slam poet Buddy Wakefield was a great surprise.

The performance by Paula Cole was great. She sang some of her newer songs as well as her older cannon. Her set was a great introduction for Ani Difranco, whose performance was truly unforgettable. She changed guitars for every song and even changed some of the acoustics for a few songs. Her voice was even better live! She played songs from several albums, although she did emphasize "Which side are you on?". She accepted requests from the audience, which made her concert even more spectacular.
