I was fortunate enough to have 2nd row/center seats for this show, and was treated to an epic performance. I've seen "The Trio" a few times over the years, and this was the best by far. Highlights include "Fever", "God Bless the Child" (first of three encores), and "Straight No Chaser (third and final encore). That last encore alone was worth the price of admission. The boys were all in good form and seemed to have a blast. Jarrett is someone everyone in the free world needs to see at least once in their lifetime.

I lost count of the amount of encores once the performance was over. The audience just couldn't get enough. Along with everyone else, I was personally moved by the emotion and depth of spirit displayed through music. I was also touched by the amount of affection these three masters of jazz have for each other. It was moving and inspirational.

Wonderful concert in the nicest venue around. Sound was very good, although better in the level just below us, where I sat last time. $30.00 better? Maybe not but we had a great view of him. 2nd row 1st balcony center.

Except maybe for the first atonal piece - this was an excellent experience. Keith rules the piano.

SO YOU KNOW He needs to get rid of his short oration (which did not make sense) and keep playing piano. The audience paid for his performance, not his Jerry Seinfeld stand up show. We do not need another Woody Allen. He gave an exceptional solo improvisation! he needs to play more of his original work rather than a Disney mock up. I didn't enjoy how he kept walking out of stage, making some of his audience believe that his performance was over. I noticed that audience slowly started walking out of the concert hall, disturbing others that stayed.

There is no finer pianist. There is no more complete musician that I know of. Mr. Jarretts Improvisations are spellbinding. From the multi-tonal to the melodic jazz to the americana anthems. An amazing facility, a brilliant creator and an audience there to appreciate one of the few remaining creators in music. If there was a weakness it was the Los Angelians. I guess they're not used to reality. Anyway, that's not what LA is for, is it? If you didn't love the music that filled Disney hall last night, you either weren't listening or you've been in LA too long.

Wow. An incredible performance. The virtuosity. The technical ability. The creativity. but...ahem...a small complaint. The acoustics in the Walt Disney Concert Hall are so excellent that every cough is transmitted perfectly to the opposite side of the venue. Apparently many Angelenos are smokers and the others are eager to be heard on live recordings. For performances like this, there should be a rigorous pre-qualification trial for members of the audience. I am sure Keith would agree.

Simply amazing! These guys have played so long together and are such consumed artists that they are in perfect symbiosis and delivered a performance that one doesn't have the opportunity to witness many times in a lifetime.

Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack Dejohnette are the ultimate working jazz trio today. I always look forward to this concert. The acoustics and atmosphere of NJPAC are perhaps only surpassed by Carnegie Hall. The Keith Jarrett trio is always the highlight of my concert year and NJPAC is a great venue for them. It was a terrific concert. I could have used a bit more piano from the sound man on this particular night but still an excellent performance.

Having performed together for more than 30 years, The Keith Jarrett Trio surpassed all expectations with another outstanding performance. Jarrett played with the intense passion that one has come to expect from all of his performances. Gary Peacock's bass solos were precise and scintillating. Jack DeJohnette has been and still is one of the greatest jazz drummers ever, keeping meticulous time during complex, ever-changing tempos and unleashing always inventive but never overpowering drum passages. The trio's well-deserved legendary status lives on!

I think of elders as venerable, wise, and expert in navigation of life and decisions. Jarrett, Peacock, and DeJohnette (all sentagenarians) presented themselves and their music in this light. No silence or note or stroke is wasted. Economy. Untraceable and indelible. True Wisdom.

Keith Jarrett has complete mastery of the piano. Every note he touches sounds beautiful. The layers of sound were perfectly proportioned, rhythm impeccable, technic, style and taste flawless. Drummer, Jack DeJohnette, is awesome in his ability to supply a rhythmic accompaniment that has endless variety, yet is ever subtle, sensitive and tasteful. Gary Peacock on bass has heart, soul, taste, tone, never does the expected, yet always makes sense. This trio is both sublime and thrilling every minute on stage!

Too short of a concert. Time flew way to fast as we were immersed in a dream of perfection. Sadly, we had to get up out our seats and drive back home. Luckily we have a relationship like the trio of Keith Jarrett, Jack and Gary or it would have been so depressing to come back to reality.

Like a fine Cabernet, Keith & Company only get better with age. 3 encores! You never feel cheated @ this trio's concerts, that is for sure. One note for Keith: stick to the music and leave the dry nonsequitors unspoken. And announcing the tunes from the stage would be nice & precedent setting. And to whomever organizes Lot 5 parking for Royce: I'm sure you can do better than Saturday night's fiasco! 20 minutes to get parked and about 15 minutes to get out! It's getting to be like the parking/exiting situation @ Dodger Stadium!

Keith Jarrett had a health crisis a few years back, where he barely had the energy to sit at the piano and play. His playing at that time became spare, quiet, reflective, and at its best, exquisite and nearly perfect in capturing the essence of a tune, a mood, a state of being. This essential quality was carried forward in the concert on Saturday, extended to include the mastery of DeJohnette and Peacock. Here was music without ego, with not a single flourish by any musician calling attention to himself, nor even the group calling attention to itself. Only the evocation of the spirit of the music, inviting the audience to the transpersonal space from where the trio was meeting and communing with the music. They were never more in this place than on the ballads which constituted the majority of the evening. The (barely) uptempo numbers were playful, but didn't hold an emotional candle to the quiet space that the slower numbers produced. Sublime, exquisite, nearly a perfect concert.

keith jarrett returned to los angeles for the second time in five months, this time for a solo performance at the exquisite disney hall.unlike some of his self proclaimed"self-indulgent"shows of the past, keith now plays shorter improvisations and in some cases popular songs. But whether he's playing 18 minute passages or four minute ones,he is always a joy to watch and listen to. truly one of america's masters of modern music.

It was one of the best Keith Jarrett solo performances I've seen in years! He's always good, but he exceeded my expectations Tuesday night at Disney Hall in Los Angeles. His improvisational piano music was masterful, soulful, at times playful, and deeply moving. When he stepped up to the microphone, he reflected on his earlier career and his struggle with chronic fatigue syndrome, all with a sense of humor. I was totally surprised when Jarrett played 4 encores. Unheard of in my experience. Above all, the music was the message - and a profound one it was! Bravo, Keith, and thank you!

JDJ - the drummer was by far the youngest person in the audience, and I don't just mean this chronologically-speaking...there was something very youthful in his vibes, he had more fun than anyone else within 40 feet of me...people were so old and boring and snobby...my goodness... Jarret was pure magic, period. GP was really sublime and subtle, too subtle - he fit Miles' description of a bass player - if the bassist is heard then he's overplaying....eh.... Nice show, boring crowd, nice hall, but I dig the Baked Potato better. Peace.

The show that this group put on was unbelievable. I have never been to a better evening of jazz. The virtuosity of each member coupled with their symbiotic musical relationship made for one hell of a concert. Keith Jarrett's piano playing is nothing short of ethereal. Musically, the man is a genius. Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette are exceptional players as well and together they form a group that is unparalleled. Kudos and I can't wait to see them again.

I consider my self a fan of the trio, especially DeJohnette. They're fantastic! They're sound is amazing, timing, song choice, blend, support, interplay... all of it, amazing. So why am I sitting there wondering why I feel short changed? Maybe it's over for the trio, maybe I just get the feeling that Jarrett's back towards the audience is the ultimate snub, perhaps I felt that the constant lack of melodic development, especially during a ballad, was over the thoughtless, or the trio starting 20 minutes late, playing 5 short pieces, and then taking a break... you gotta be kidding?!?!?! then a 4 song second set!?!?!?! for $110 and all the music I've purchased, I should be going to a concert and raving about it, not wondering where the energy was, the whole second set felt like it was phoned in. really upsetting. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and I've been listening since '79, I have many recordings of the trio, Keith solo, plenty with Gary playing with many other artists, as well as his solo stuff, and I consider DeJohnette to be the heir to the throne, but this concert was weak, phoned in, and not the balls out experience I was hoping to hear, after giving a second chance from two years ago.

They played so well together, the variations and melodies fit together so well that you felt it was all scripted, except it tumbled out so spontaneously you knew it was being crafted as they played from one contrasting melody to another. God, It all fit so well together even though the originality produced distinct contrasting parts. I haven't the words to describe it clearly, but I felt it through my heart and soul. Ok, so you know I'm a hopeless romantic, but it's the best way I have to describe the sheer rhapsody and pleasure I shared with all those around me.

A unique sound and approach - ultra clean and quick. They play the standards in a different way than anyone else - building up to the original melody bending the time as they get there.

Great to see Keith Jarrett always. If you have to ask why, don't bother. Even on an imperfect night- the trio is important to see. It was a fine show, despite the UCLA kid in front of us who used her iPhone through the entire 1st set to text, facebook, and illuminate her note-taking (which somehow I doubt was full of insightful observations on KJ's harmonic choices). Finally stopped I asked her to, but I was sort of wishing Keith would have caught a glimpse, so she could see a REAL cranky old man in action.

If you like jazz, this is great. A bit solemn in a large hall. Some smoke in the air and whiskey in the glass would only improve things.

The improvisation of this artist is unequaled in the jazz world of today. To hear a concert of Keith Jarrett is to meditate with a modern jazz prophet. The next century, Keith Jarrett will be remembered in the same company as Bird, Dizzy, Thelonius, Louis Armstrong , Miles Davis, Duke, and Coltrane for his amazing paradigm changing contributions to jazz. One can only hope that we will have many more years to share those special miracles that Keith brings to the stage.

I have long been a fan but this was an event not to miss. Jarrett was, as always, a master at the ivories. He was well connected to the audience and played like he could feel them. His rebuke of the audience member who took a flash photo was classic Jarrett. He is a true path to the center of improvisation and a master of any venue he plays.
