The play has a very familiar story, a classic one, to the animation movie Hotel Transylvania. Good for children and adults. It portrays relationship problems related to lies and secrets and solves them through presenting the values of being truthful. Very amusing and entertaining but again it's not a completely new story so you kind of expect what's gonna happen next.

The songs are great as well as all the actors! Sara of course was my favorite who played Morticia great, and Douglas Sills was spot on as Gomez. Good story line that is suitable for all ages to enjoy. Will be sad when the cast changes

I have to say that this is one of my favorite musicals right now. I sat in the Balcony section which was a first and I was worried about the sound and being able to see everything. The sound was perfect (compared to Spamalot & West side Story) and I just loved the split view of the stage for each scene that was played out. Excellent cast and storyline. I would so see it again!

This show was excellent. My preteen daughter requested we go. I didn't know what to expect, but we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud the entire show. The one liners were great especially bringing in current day events. I also enjoyed how they manuevered the curtain to utilize half the stage for a performance. The singing and dancing were also fun.

Not expecting anything less from a New York based troupe, this musical is crisper than ice cold lettuce. If you're looking for spooky, ghoulish, dark, desperate entertainment, don't waste your time. What you'll experience is a warmhearted story about a not so "normal" family who, despite their quirky, headstone humor and odd characteristics, are more obsessed with life and love than with darkness and death. True to Raul Julia's interpretation of Gomez Addams and the tone and delivery of the original movies and TV show, the cast is razor sharp, the songs are fantastic, and Uncle Fester manages to get the audience to roar during his solo performance where he romances the moon. An unforgettable, 5 star performance that will warm your heart...and clean the cob webs out of your closet.

I think it was a very good rendition of the Adams family series. The set was well constructed and the scene changes went very smooth. The idea of a musical was scary, but it was well done. I wish that I had bought the soundtrack. I plan to look on line for a soundtrack.

Did not know what to expect. It was amazing. Very funny. Surprising. Just a tongue in cheek delight. The lead who starred As Gomez was so good in his role with the Spanish accent as well. Lurch singing at the end was what I had predicted but not with the surprisingly operatic voice that he had.

Funny, delightful, great cast. Everything about this show was great. Broadway quality voices, funny songs. I needed a good laugh and this show didn't let me down. Everybody was laughing. The sets were simple but perfect and the lighting was right on the mark. The jokes were true to the Charles Addams cartoons, not the TV show or the movies. Plus, the show had a good steady pace and didn't get bogged down. I definetely reccomend this show.

The music was perfect; the sets were GREAT; the costumes were well done, etc. As for the casting they were all as good as the original TV show. In fact, Mortia and Gomez almost made me forget John Austin and Carolyn Jones. My advice to all of New Orleans is see this show!!!!

We saw The Addams Family musical in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre. Although the acoustics could have been better, the show was delighfully fun. The entire cast was terrific. Memorable were Gomez, Wednesday and especially Uncle Fester. The staging, music and puppetry were all wonderful. Even the configuration of the curtain was done with theatrical flair. If you want a fun evening, see this show.

It's not entirely the turkey the NY Times made it out to be and it will surely play better in the provinces than it did in the Big Apple. The actor playing "Fester" easily steals the show and his "Moon" number is the highlight of Act Two [ which is much better than the first half.] There is some really funny dialogue; the music and lyrics are a very mixed bag and the show would fare better if some of the songs sung by Gomez were cut. Not being a fan of Nathan Lane, I think the actor in this part was fine, but he will be inevitably compared to Raul Julia, remembered from the two movies. Unfortunately, the part of Morticia is mis-cast,though Bebe Neuwirth hardly equalled Anjelica Huston on B'way. Sets, costumes, and lighting were first-rate and the show's opening night of national tour went well, excepting a fall [surely not intended] by Morticia, who looked properly mortified!

The Addams Family was disappointing. The storyline was inconsistent with the "true" tradition of Addams Family. It was difficult to remain attentive and often found myself daydreaming. I enjoy going to a Broadway show a couple times a year. I've seen multiple shows in New York City, Chicago, and Indianapolis. Of course the traveling shows can be slightly less entertaining based on the talent. But this show was horrible. I always respect the actors who are trying their best, but the story, songs, sets... all bad. Just save your money and go see something else. There are a few funny lines, a few OK scenes. But mostly we were just waiting for it to be over. Very contrived story and lines. Honestly, not one memorable song.

I guess I was used to the old Broadways and the Disney venues. I was very disappointed at the language and sexual content. This was not appropriate for youngsters or a "family" evening, in my opinion. Additionally, a lot of the conversation could not be made out and it was difficult to hear (which may have been good).

My wife and I have attended numerous shows at the Murat and Clowes Hall. Clowes Hall is by far our favorite location. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of room to walk around people. The facility is beautiful and parking is not an issue. We had never seen The Addams Family Musical so we were very excited about going. By and large, we were very pleased. The show was great and filled with many funny parts. The acting was awesome and the music was equally well done. The girl that played Wednesday was great. Her and Uncle Fester made the show! I was surprised, however, with a few of the sexual innuendos included in the production. Although I wasn't necessarily offended, I expected it to be a very family-friendly show. Had I had small children with me, I may have viewed the show differently. The innuendos probably went over the kids heads but they were still present and could offer some interesting conversations on the ride home.

It has been awhile since I have seen a performance that was this good. The acting, music, ambiance, direction, etc were all amazing. If one likes plays, then one would see this. The second part (of two) felt like it lost some steam, but it picked up and delivered a smashing finale. If I were a critic, I would try to place this on a 'Must See' list. Nuff said. SEATS (as too long for the section): Section - 2T-L , Row - D, Start Seat 111, End Seat 112 The view is of the entire stage, but I would bring a magnifier of sorts. I might need glasses, though. The price for the seats were amazing, as it was 'Family Night'. The sound was spectacular. Clowes Hall always has spectacular sound.

I enjoy musicals, and have been a bit disappointed in some of the newer ones. However I was blown away by the Addams Family show. It helps a lot to have seen the TV Series, as it makes it easier to understand some of the jokes and the sight gags. Casting was perfect. Morticia was sexy and slinky, and Lurch and Uncle Phester were hilarious. I expected Phester to actually fly in the last sequence though...maybe he does in some other venues with more access to the needed apparatus. And the low cut gown on Morticia was very sexy - it must have been held in place with a lot of two-sided tape. It looked like a 'wardrobe malfunction' waiting to happen. The language is squeaky clean, and the plot is simple but clever. This is definitely not an R-rated show - but it is a PG show - but it would be important for the younger ones to be able to understand that the macabre humor is a parody and not take it too seriously. The Peabody Theater in Daytona is great for this kind (or almost any kind) of show. It is wide and not very deep, so everyone has a clear view of the actors' faces and expressions, and that added to the enjoyment of the show. The concept of the Addams family ghosts from generations past was clever and well integrated into the story line. Dancing was cute and while not choreographed as heavily as a show like 'Chicago,' it was well done and appropriate to expressing the concept and personalities of the characters. If you had never seen the TV version, some of the sight gags (like the boy laughing while chained to the wall by his sister) may seem - well - just strange. But you could not help but laugh anyway as the characters were able to project their comic personalities at a very high level. Scenery is well done and appropriate for the motif of the show. While there are no huge special effects (like Phantom), and no animated animals (Like War Horse) there are a few mid-level theatrical effects at appropriate times. And the resolution of the various plot lines at the end made everyone in the theater laugh and smile as they left the theater. The pit orchestra was led by a director who also was playing on what appeared to be a synthesizer. An excellent fairly well-known Broadway trumpet player (Jeff Katz) and decent woodwind guy brought the music to life. I always wish for a larger pit orchestra, but no doubt economics make it impossible to tour with a large orchestra. The musicians were very high level performers though, and they were able to carry the emotion of the music to the audience. I highly recommend this show, especially if you are familiar with and enjoyed the TV version, and I recommend it only slightly less if you have not seen the TV show - I cannot imagine that anyone who likes live musical comedy (with a live pit band!) would not have an enjoyable evening with the Addams Family.

Addams Family - The Musical was a disappointment. I truly was bored from the start. The songs were bland and the scenery was drab. The concept of bringing the Addams Family to stage was a good one but the direction that the creators took was wrong. It needed more edge - a boy meets girl - parents do not approve of wedding plans - has been done and a lot better. So a different plot would have been a good start. It needed more edge and creativy to really bring alive the quirky Addams Family. I just did not get the Rogers and Hammerstein musical approach to the score and lyrics. A concept with so much promise. It could have been a lot of fun and very engaging if a different direction had been taken.

The staging was fantastic. The acting/singing and costumes were excellent. But unfortunately the story itself was so mundane it was beyond boring. There were whole scenes where the subject of the singing and dancing was of little importance to the non-story that it felt ridiculous. In spite of the annoyance of no story and a few very bad jokes it was still a mildly enjoyable evening only because the actors/singers made the best of a bad product. (Almost none of the crowd even got the joke about the old Jackie Gleason show the Honeymooners.)

We had a great time at the Addams Family (touring production) last week. So many unexpected and welcome surprises. They did a great job staying true to the characters we all know and love! Well done!

We have always enjoyed the Addams Family movies and TV series. The musical was equally enjoyable. It was a wonderful first exposure to a Broadway musical for my 10 and 12 year old boys. They loved the silliness and I enjoyed the professional talents of the cast. Palace Theatre staff was top notch as well.

It was wonderful showing my grand daughter a show from the past. She thought it was rather dark, but enjoyed it. It took me back and loved every minute of it. Thank you!!!

Didn't know what to expect, but it was excellent. The back drops looked very real & costumes were great. All performers had beautiful voices. Was very impressed by this performance.

I got exactly what I expected and more. Wanted something that was true to the Addams Family I remember from the old TV show and it was all of that. The puns were funny and timely. The music was great! The only thing that would have made it better was for Wednesday to have pigtails like she did when she was young.

Well, I'm a big fan of the Addams family, so I arrived at the theater ready for something special. The Fox Theater in Riverside was very nice, excellent service, etc. However, I came away with the feeling that the Addams Family is not a good subject for a musical. The actors were well prepared, but the songs were uninspiring. The idea of Wednesday getting married and becoming nice is not in keeping with the schema of the characters. A play would be better, and I hope someone finds the wherewithal to recreate the true spirit of this iconic family.

Addams Family was very entertaining. Both my teenage daughters were laughing throughout the musical. There was a little adult humor which I hope my kids didn't pick up.

I highly recommend this show. I was never a huge fan of the Addams Family. I enjoyed the TV show and the movies, but I was always a Munsters guy. However this was one of the most enjoyable shows I have ever seen. Despite the end songs being a bit week, I believe they pulled off a epic musical. I have never seen the broadway version or the first tour. But the actors, signers, and dancers of this second touring group were second to none. The blend of comedy, dialogue, music was really spot on. I cannot stress this enough, if you can see this show.
