Not one of my favorites....really loud. Cute story line of Horton hears a Who narrated by the Cat, but when some of the performers sang my children complained of how loud they were. All in all, good play but would not go back to see it again.

I was not overly impressed with this show. It was all about Horton Hears a Who and if you don't love that story then you will probably not enjoy this show. The singing was good but I could not understand a lot of the words. Not a lot of props used to keep my child's interest. He was waiting for it to be over and so was I. Could be better if they incorporated more of the stories of Dr. Seuss.

The talent was okay. The costumes were horrendous....almost non existent. There were no real scenery changes either. We were really looking forward to see this after seeing a wonderful high school version. Drove to this beautiful venue, but left very disappointed. They must have profited from this movie because it was definitely low budget. How do you ruin such a vibrant character such as Gertrude?...just add a bunch of long sleeve tshirts for a tail to look like a ridiculous clothesline or dirty daundry coming from a hamper! Very sad!!!

Considering how much Dr. Seuss books use imagination, this musical fell flat. With little costume design or set design, my kids (4 and 6) who LOVE Dr. Seuss books, cartoons, and movies were very let down as was I. The beginning of the show had some engaging movement and the end had some colorful costumes but everything in between was lacking to engage children of the ages geared toward Dr. Seuss material. Since when does Horton, from Horton hears a who wear grey pants anad sweatshirt with grey shoes. I guess sometimes you get the quality you pay for. I now know why the tickets were only $10. What a disappointment.

I highly recommend Seussical for kids if done properly- but this production was low budget and terrible! They used OVEN mitts on the trees in the jungle!!! I have seen many many high school productions of this show that have BLOWN AWAY this production and have who actually took time to produce it-- in the set, stage, characters and costumes. If you liked this show, you should go see a high school perform it, if you didn't like this show-- go figure--it was terrible. My son saw this show as a high school performance first when he was three-- we saw Fraser High School's (MI) and he LOVED it! We ended up going back for a second night!! THEN, we looked online and saw OKEMOS High School (MI) was performing it, this performance as well was AWESOME! So, we hunted around again and saw MACOMB DAKOTA HIGH SCHOOL (MI) was performing it this past Jan and this was the BEST one yet!!! Then in March we saw bought tix to this performance....OMG, I was actually horrified when I saw the set and stage and this was suppose to be professional? I recommend finding a high school that is performing it and maybe saving a few bucks and your time-- because this show performed and produced by this talent co. gives what really is an awesome production for the whole family a bad, bad rep.!!

I took my 4-year old grandson and it was a wonderful time for both of us! What a bunch of talented young people in this performance! We sat in the center of the second row and didn't miss a thing. The actors were gracious enough to come to the edge of the stage after the performance to meet their audience. My grandson's favorite was Horton. I'd definitely go again!

Took my 7 year old goddaughter to Seussical the Musical and she thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was not to short or too long and the props and colors were just amazing. Definately will recommend this to a friend and think that it's great fun for kids and interesting enough so that the adults will enjoy it too.

The storyline and acting was very good but the costumes were not even close to looking like actual Dr. Seuss Characters with the exception of Cat in The Hat (who was not exactly what you see in the book either). Other than the costumes not being realistic it was a great time.

I took my nine year old neighbor. She had never been to a play before. Omg did we have fun. I couldnt believe the high quality of the singing. The sets and dancing were so colorful and fun. The woman next to me coulnt find a kid so she brought her grown daughter. They had as good a time as we did. I went to the Opera at Bass Hall that nite which was'nt near as good and many times more expensive. Even if you cant find a kid to take, go.

The whole concept of the play would have been fantastic for my 5 year old except for the non-existent costumes. Without proper costumes it was hard to for him to understand that the big guy in the grey shorts and shirt was Horton the Elephant. The Cat in the Hat didn't even have a tail, none of the "birds" had wings (some of them didn't even have feathers), the "monkeys" were guys dressed in sequins with hairy arms, and the kangaroo was a lady dressed in orange with a kangaroo puppet on her hand. This is about as disapointed as I've ever been in a children's play as far as something to actually captivate the child. The talents of the performers were wonderful - the singing was great. I'm not sure if we will return to Casa Manana again for a children's production.

We considered not attending this production as we aren't fans of Dr. Seuss books. But are we glad now that we felt the need to support the Pleasure Guild. The show was fantastic... the kids said probably their favorite of all the Pleasure Guild productions. The Cat in the Hat stole the show... however, they were outstanding performances by many on stage! Wonderful scenery, great choreography.... Our one complaint... it had to end!!!!!!!

From age 2 to age 82, our diverse group was entertained by the PG's "Seussical the Musical". Everyone sounded and looked amazing transporting the audience to the jungle and the planet of Who! I went home and downloaded the soundtrack on iTunes so I could continue to enjoy the show after the show. Cannot wait until next year, I will definitely be back!

Being a theater person for over 50 years, I was very impressed with the production. I knew the the young man that played JoJo and have been impressed with him for sometime. I have Directed Seussical twice myself and saw many things I would utilize if I were to direct it again. This was also my first time in the Palace and thought it was a beautiful theater. Everyone in the cast worked hard and put on a fantastic show. The Cat was great. I would love to get involved with any of Pleasure Guilds Productions and would love info on how to do that.

I have 2 complaints about the program. First, there was not enough advance advertising for the show. I think more people would come and support Children's Hospital but they didn't know about the production. I also thought it was a little long for the children. Maybe they could give the show length when purchasing tickets and also recommend what ages. I loved the music and all the actors!

It was excellent. I would love to be a part of a program like this. One thing that sticks out the most is that the costuming was very representative and effective... i.e. the Horton the Elephant character, who despite the costuming, WAS Horton the Elephant. I would love to support the Pleasure Guild Theater in the future. Excellent work!

Overall it was a wonderful performance. Many of the talents were outstanding. The costumes & sets were so colorful. My only problem was when the group was singing, many times I couldn't understand the lyrics. I'm not sure how much of it was the students or the sound system. Some of the performers did need more training in enunciation. We have much to be proud of in our students.

We absolutely enjoyed this show. We took my 4 year old son and he laughed and squealed and clapped in joy. I do think that the costumes (mainly Horton's) could've been a little better...maybe a trunk head band strapped to his head so that the younger viewers remembered he was supposed to be an elephant. But other than the costumes, the performance from everyone was stellar and singing fantastic! my son asked to go again!

Vocals were good, performers had beautiful voices. However, the overall production was very disappointing. The costumes were not good, and for younger viewers it was hard to conceptualize or follow the story. My children didn't connect Horton to what the Who's were doing. Additionally, the production was very short. My family attends many theatrical events at Casa Manana and this was one of the most disappointing, given that Dr. Seuss presents so many possibilities. I also feel, given the caliber of the production that the tickets were overpriced.
