Very poor sound, the band was completely out of control and the singers too. Left after one hour. Better watch on YouTube.

After 40 years entartaining the world, the most popular Cuban band keeps making history. It has been 7 years since we had the opportunity to enjoy the intense music and rythm of Los Van Van in the US territorry. It was a very emotional concert where we dance the whole night!!!

Los Van Van is a legendary group. I would place them in the category of the Beatles. However, for a group that comes to Miami once every ten years, they were way off the mark in their song selection. They got too much into long sets as if they were at a dance party. The Knight Center is a concert hall, not a salsa hall. I don't know how many times they said "We are all Cubans" but what about others in the audience? (Granted, the crowd was heavily Cuban-American, many of whom think of themselves as Cubans before they consider themselves Americans). Look, I'm all for the great Cuban musical spirit which can translate to so many other cultures. But some kind of acknowledgment of those other cultures would have been nice. As far as the dancing and the rhythm....great, let it rip. However, for a group with such a body of work, to play around with long sets in part designed to give band members rests, was not muy bueno.

I left Cuba 30 years ago and I was not an absolute fan of Van Van. The new rhythm was excellent but the name chosen for the Band was a joke, it should have been No Van No Van. As time went by and I began listening to the lyrics of their songs, it was my way of keeping in touch with the Cuban life in Cuba. I do could say I am a Cuban music fan with no borders and because I am living in this country I can go one day with Van Van and next day go and watch Chirino. And finally, about this concert, the sound was terrible, the music was distorted, the drums and congas were above the rest of the instruments and the singers no matter how high they sang we could hardly understand what they were singing. In spite of what I have told you, my wife and I had a lot of fun and the sound kept us doing aerobics all night long. We are going on February 13th for Pantoja and Dyango's concert. I hope the sound will be better this time.

After waiting for ten years to have the opportunity to see them it finally happenned: Los Van Van came to Miami. In spite of the rain and the crazy people insulting outside of the venue, more than 4000 people gather to dance of the beat of the music that has made dance three generations of cubans. It was like going back to those days when growing up I learned to dance to their beats. It was music without frontiers. It was memories of my youth back in Havana and of all of those I left behind when I came looking for a better life in this country of freedom. But more than everything, it was the certainty that I will always be CUBAN.

The concert time was 730pm and it didn't start til 830ish pm. There were so many opening acts of upcoming artists with at least 3 songs each. The promoters all know that mostly everyone if not everyone went to mainly see Los Van Van. Once on stage around 11:50 pm the first thing they announced was that they would not have enough time to sing all the songs they planned on because the event was to end at 12 midnight. They sang 3 songs and the last song they barely finished as all the lights were turned on. This concert was either poorly planned or strategically planned to sell tickets, make money as the sole purpose, and not deliver. I am very very disappointed and will not attend ever again an event announced with these promoters. This is not good business and very deceiving to the consumer.

It was super disorganized! It started 1 1/2 hours late! They started With bands nobody knew the Which used up all the time so when the headliners came on they did not have any time to play. Los Van Van literally played for 25 minutes? The Venue turned off the lights! It was the biggest waste of money! I spent $240 for two tickets! I am still upset about it!

OVERLY PRICED FOR WHAT WAS OFFERED. Expected to much from the artist and they gave too little, specially La India she improvised horribly not rhyming seemed pretty much she was high or on medication. Los Van Van sang unknown songs and only 2 concert started almost 2 hours late and time was taken from several artist, wireless microphones ran out off charge and artist had to sing with cord mics that didn't let them walk to the front of the stage.THIS IS THE WORST CONCERT I'VE BEEN TO IN MY LIFE... Sound system SUCKED!!!!!

Nothing like seeing a band that has not only mastered their craft but have played together for decades. Fun, energetic, and had the audience up and dancing from start to finish.

Overall volume was to loud. Venue needs more of a surround sound speaker upgrade and wireless microphones for vocalist to improve overall volume output. The act needs introduction of band personnel at some point and more featured instrument solos.

Since I remembered this Cuban group from my early nineties heyday of being into Caribbean music, and a VIP balcony seat was still available only a few days before, I jumped at the chance to finally see them live. I have since lost my aptitude for understanding and speaking Spanish, but music is really the universal language, The evening opened up with a local salsa band named Ashe Son, who were excellent. Los Van Van then took the stage as unpretentious as could be. Four lead singers (3 male and 1 female) were backed by one incredible drummer, two percussionists, two rhythmic keyboardists, and one upright electric bass. Behind them was the six-piece orchestra, which consisted of three trombones, two violins, and one flute. I thought that it was all an unusual combination, but they were all extremely tight and played as one unit. Incredible! And since the embargo against Cuba has recently been lifted, this made for an even more jubilant celebration. Can't wait to see them return to this Northern Capital of the Caribbean.

One of the best concert that I had ever seen. Energetic, with not incidents inside the theater. They are the best of the groups, not wonder they are celebrating 40 years in the market. Some of us were able to dance with the music of Los Van Van. To me was an experience since I never had the opportunity to see them in person. I left Cuba 41 years ago.

Been to many salsa concerts but never felt the ground tremble from absolutely everyone on their feet dancing! Seemed like everyone knew the lyrics of every song played. After 40 years these cats still own top spot! Like Haileys Comet you need to catch them when they come your way or you may never see them in a looooong time..

I came to this event not knowing much of this group of musicians and singers, but after seeing them, I am going to purchase some of the CD's and DVD's that they have on record......loved them, eventhough some people see them as "COMUNIST" I am sorry but I dont, I see them as artists. GREAT SHOW -do it again.

There was five of us that attended this event and we all enjoyed very much. Not only they are one of the best Cuban Musicians but they are so talented. They have the flavor, the swing, the heat that runs through the Cuban blood. We didn't stop dancing all night, from beginning to end. Great concert!!! Bring them back!!!!!!

I had been waiting ten years for Los Van Van to play in Miami since I missed their first show at the Arena in '99. I was not thrilled when I heard they were going to be at the James L Knight Center - because it is pointless to sit down at a salsa concert - so I bought tickets on the floor off to one side and that worked out great. It turns out that most of the very enthusiastic crowd were on their feet the entire two hour 40 minute concert and dancing to Muevete and other turbo-charged dance hits. They sang songs from the 90s and ones from their new CD, Arrasando, although I would have preferred more older ones, like Sandunguera. The singers, especially Mayito Rivero, kept the crowd enthralled with his impromtu syncopated lyrics, and the talented musicians made their jazz-rock fusion sound shine. Los Van Van left me wanting more after hearing their encore number, Esto te pone la Cabeza Mala. From a gringa vanvanera!!!
