Worth the money. The show kept your interest. The props were very real looking even down to the blood shed. The performers did a great job.

We have seen Sweeney Todd played several times and Boise State s performance was the best! The acting was incredible, every character! The stage set was ingenious. The costumes evolved with the story; integral to the story line. The sound was perfect!

A superb production of a remarkable play. From the raising of the curtain to the curtain call you will be spellbound. The cast can only be referred to as perfectly 'accomplished'. The timing and execution was sheer perfection! The voices performing Sondheim's work will enter your soul and captivate you from the first note sung. This is an 'on the edge of your seat' performance. In attending this production you will not soon forget the brilliance of the production: the direction, the sets, the orchestra, the sound, the costumes, or the lighting. Professionalism through and through. I assure you that you will notice! We tend to take these things for granted while focusing on the principals - who are to be commended, by the way. Highly recommended if you are looking for something out of the ordinary...not your typical musical - the subject is compelling if you are intrigued by the dark and sinister. This production of Sweeny Todd certainly accomplishes this.

Of all the performances I've seen of Sweeny Todd (I've seen many) this was by far the best! I loved the whole cast, and they're acting was incredible. Chris McCarrell playing "Anthony" was the best I've seen yet! I loved this show!

The show was incredible. The cast was mesmerizing, showcasing their strong voices and acting abilities. One particular character, Tobias, played by Max Joseph had a real stretch taking on the humor of his role in the beginning of the show to the frightening psycho at the end. The Director should be commended for his casting and execution.

What an extremely talented group this is! So great to see young people so immersed in the arts. Everything was first rate, from the scenery, to the décor and makeup. Rivals anything you'll see on Broadway. Fantastic musical accompaniment. Kudos to all.

Having been amazed after seeing this show for the first time in 1989 in New York City at Circle in the Square theater, and basically repeating that experience with the Daytona Beach Community College production a few years back, about 16, to be in-exact, I looked forward to not having to travel great distances to see it once again. The University of Florida production did not disappoint. Since I had downloaded the original Broadway soundtrack onto my MP-3 player and listened to all the great songs Mr. Sondheim wrote for the piece innumerable times, I was able to sing along, although very quietly, with the performers as the show progressed. All of the leads were quite strong, although Mr. Todd's hair was a bit longer than I had remembered. And my initial shock of seeing a slender, dark-skinned, Italian-looking Mrs. Lovett was soon tempered as she belted "The Worst Pies in London" with a vigor matched only by a much younger Angela Landsbury. David Leppert's "Sweeny" was as it should have been, a seething-though-restrained angry energy, held back until the final moments of the play revealed his terrible error. Chaz May's "Tobias Ragg" was a carbon copy of the original Broadway cast member; listening to his "Nothing's Gonna Harm You" took me right back to my MP-3 player. The rest of the main characters were excellent in their contributions to the overall pace and realism of the play. A very distracting and puzzling aspect of the production, however, was the use of eery sound effects - heartbeats, creaking doors, wind, rain, crying babies - and random players climbing on the scaffolding thirty minutes prior to opening curtain. These players as well as the rest of the townspeople exhibited the demeanor of zombies in their makeup (white faces, blacked-out eyes), carriage and gait. For a while I thought I was on the set of "The Walking Dead." Perhaps it was Mr. Mata's contribution to the Halloween spirit, since the play was produced in October. In any case, the play was well done and I would highly recommend it, particularly at the price of $15.00.

The set was, lights, music, sound effects were great and the characters were well developed and came to life on stage. The performers were all very talented. I have not seen Sweeney Todd on stage before and don't have much basis for comparison, but it was incredible to see it live and it was more than I'd imagined it would be.

The costumes and stage were more modern than the original time setting. I saw the Pie cast and they were spot on. It was funny and thought provoking and the gore was respectably depicted. The sound was perfect and I could hear and understand each word (sometimes opera runs together and is hard to hear). I LOVED IT!!!

Have recommended it. Saw the PBS/NY Phil production. The Razor Cast singers were at least as good, Thomas Gunther and Rachel Snyder more effective, Anthony Hope more believable, Johanna/Gabrielle Barker's voice marvelous, whole cast of soloists, really not a weak one. and the ensemble convinced me. Orchestra also excellent supporting. The ending was much more effective and clear. And moving.

Sweeney Todd was great! However, both me and my boyfriend thought that the orchestra overpowered the vocalists. For this being the last show, we thought they would've had the sound dialed in better.

Not what I expected. Too many songs going on at one time. I thought that it might have more of a horror aspect to it. It didn t. Overall I really didn t like this play; I was bored and could have fallen asleep. I don t recommend this play at all. I wasn t surprised that when we came back from the inter mission that half the people in the theater didn t come back as well.

Overall the show was very good. Actress who played Mrs. Lovett was excellent. Wasn't thrilled with the lead actor's performance. He was decent, but nothing to write home about. an absolutely stunning rendition of the great musical! I expected an above average display since the actors were students at University of Kentucky; however, the performance was very professional and par excellence. The lighting, props and the actors' singing was great. The second half appeared to be stretched out at times, but did not detract from the overall experience. Mrs. Lovett's character is difficult to portray, but the the actor performing it brought nuanced perfection to the role.

Great interpretation. GREAT singing all around. Really, a knockout production. Nuance, creative staging. Whenever things went wrong (doors not opening, thrown items missed) the cast recovered well. Knockout music. Two cons: During the vacation fantasy scene with Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney, the costumes worn by dancers are a bit of a Las Vegas showgirl cliche. They felt out of place. During Tobias's final monologue, the acting was awful, middle school drama club stuff. ("Bake.... pie... razor..... razor..... cut..... CUT!) Huge pauses, melodramatic reading. SO, great with a very few hiccups!

Had never seen this play. Had seen the movie with Johnny Depp. The actor who portrayed Sweeney Todd was good but not as evil or sinister as the way Johnny Depp portrayed him. I even went on YouTube to look at other plays and the Sweeney Todd actors were more scary and dark. I thought Mrs. Lovett was great, but the actress who played the Beggar woman stoled the show!!!!! The rest of the cast was also amazing....great voices!

I've been trying to share the joy of differing arts to my 16 year old daughter and her friends. This was our second play this year and we brought a new group of young ladies to this event. The young ladies were amazed and awed by the venue and were talking about seeing their first play. The looks and comments from other patrons, before the play even started, were nasty and then getting an usher to 'warn' us, was simply ludicrious. It may be a theatre frequented by ancient people, but unless they get a clue it will die with them. These younger kids were quite put off by the other theater patrons and pissed when the excessively aged usher chastised them for talking, although the lights had not even gone down. I don't want to take away from a nice play and a good performance by the acting troop, but at this point I'm not sure I want to go back to that venue. I'm trying to get the kids interested in the arts, not feeling left out because they are young. They need to rethink if they want young people to come and get interested in the theater or not.

I love this musical and have seen it in three or four versions, including with Angela Landsbury. This version is the most successful version I've seen overall, mainly because of the scale of the theater. The Arie Crown and Lyric Opera House were too big. A Ravinia version had better scale, but was not staged. All the performances here were top notch, but I especially loved having the Judge and the Beadle cast so impressively. With Sondheim, hearing and understanding the words is always critical. All the solo pieces came across very clearly. My only disappointment was that the chorus sections sounded muddy on the sound system and you could not understand what they were singing. Can't wait until Friday, when I see Follies, another dose of Sonheim! Not so ghoulish, but just as witty.

My children, ages 15 and 12, and I absolutely loved the stage production of Sweeney Todd! As ardent fans of the movie, weren't sure how we would like the stage adaptation, but we loved it! The entire cast was excellent, specifically Liz McCartney (Mrs Lovett). Gregg Edelman (Sweeney Todd) seemed a little too happy as the Sweeney character and needed to be a little more "sinister", too often smiling and laughing when not appropriate. Jonah Rawitz (Toby) was good, however they needed to bump up the audio on his mic more so he could be heard. The use of the back screen for the blood scenes was great, and the set props were excellent.

Drury Lane took a very, very dark theme and turned it into an artistic theatrical performance that captured your imagination from the very first scene. We were a little concerned to be seated in the front row, and to our surpirse, we enjoyed each scene from the street level outside the judges home to the multi-level view of the Fleet Street shop. Loved the creativity showing the drama at the sanitorium, and the use of the extended off-stage space for pier and street scenes added great dimension. Choreographed movement was timed perfectly for those moving on and transitioning off-stage in all different directions. Our favorite experience was the vocal talent of the entire company. Voices blended well from adults to children roles. The soloists were superb; I was actually able to follow along with the scenarios. We appreciated the timing and humor. Must also acknowledge the truly talented musicians ... we heard every note and loved the accompaniment. Well done to the entire Company! Bravo!

I have seen Sweeney Todd in the Broadway production, in the opera house, in a Spanish language version in Barcelona and now here at Drury Lane. This production hit every point it was supposed to from an excellent cast of singing actors to a production which provided a wonderful atmosphere of the the scary times in London. I have always thought this show was Sondheim's masterpiece of his many one of a kind great shows. I was happy to see and hear this first rate production give its all and succeed in showing a new generation of theatergoers the reason Sondheim is to be treasured.
