I really loved this show and have seen it twice. To be honest I didn't expect much from Vanessa Hudgens as Gigi, but she was great. Victoria Clark is absolutely amazing in her role. Dee Hoty is quite impressive too. The staging is gorgeous and there is never a dull moment on stage. As my title said the costuming alone will transport you back to the early 1900's in France. I enjoyed all the music from this show very much. I will say that I have never seen the movie version, so I didn't have any preconceived notions to measure the Broadway show too.

In NYC for one night and wanted to see a show that would be "fun". Pleasantly surprised by the superb voices and witty script, making it more than just fun, it was one it the best shows we've seen in a decade.

An absolutely beautiful revival. Visually amazing. Lerner & Lowe's wonderful score holds up well and are all sung beautifully and the choreography very spirited and energetic I will recommend this musical very highly, particularly to those who would like to introduce their children to live theatre. The show is longer than usual (two and a half hours) but the time seemed to fly.

Good effort by actors; costumes lovely. Nice music. Story is awful - outdated and totally unrelatable. Plot has been changed to the point where nothing really makes sense. No bite. Save your money.

Wanted to love this as much as the original, but Vanessa Hudgens is wrong for the part, and the watered down version of the musical is just that. Also, the theatre is extremely uncomfortable. Needs paint and updating. No railings on steep balcony steps. Saw 4 shows in 5 days. This was the big disappointment. The man playing Honore opened with BoN Jour, pronounced just like that. Certainly not correct French. And, other French words were also mispronounced. Where is the French diction coach. This musical takes place in Paris. The Gaston is much too young. Great in Newsies, but totally wrong for this role. His young age causes the entire premise of the show to make no sense. Great performance from Victoria Clark, but she can't carry the weight of the show alone. So very disappointed. A very costly mistake for the producers and the audience members.

What a wonderful story - Vanessa Hudgens brings such life to the role of Gigi - and was amazingly gracious at the Stage Door when she took time to sign everyone's Playbill and take photos. That meant so much to my daughter - what a good thing to see someone so admired have such an appreciation for her fans.

I have always loved the story of GiGi. I used to watch the movie when I visited my grandmother's house. When I saw it coming to Broadway I was so excited to buy tickets for my mom and I. We both felt the same... Vanessa Hudgens was fantastic. Totally fell in love with her. We both liked the original story more. The music was great, wish there were a few more upbeat songs. Overall I would recommend as it was still a great show.

Vanessa Hudgens was outstanding in the light hearted fun musical. Great sets, wonderful costumes and excellent songs made for a delightful musical, the type you sit back and relax and tap your fingers on your knees the whole time. Great cast although the actor playing Gaston was not very charismatic and therefore did not seem to draw the audience into his role. Other than Gaston, the balance of the cast was outstanding and suitably cast.

Second act better than the first, not uncommon. Gigi, the show, shouldn't normally beat out a lot of other shows on Broadway tos ee, both new and older (Mormon, Wicked, Lionking, etc.), but if you loved the movie, you'll want to see this show. If you've never seen the movie but are a fan of Vanessa Higgins (of high school musical fame), you'll enjoy her broadway debut. And the outfits are gorgeous throughout.

While some may think Gigi is a dated show, this show captures the best of the original and updates it, so modern audiences will love it. And they did...the audience response was extremely enthusiastic. The entire cast was charming from the first minute to the last. With so many shows on Broadway pushing the envelope with language and sexual innuendo, it's refreshing that a show can be enthralling without being vulgar.

As a huge fan of the movie Gigi starring Leslie Caron, I had very high expectations for the musical revival. Overall I was not disappointed. Vanessa Hudgens is adorable as Gigi; she displayed enthusiasm and amazing talent in acting, singing, dancing. She was the whole package. The characters of Mamita (Victoria Clark) and Aunt Alicia (Dee Hoty) were played brilliantly and much more rounded out than in the movie. The scenes when the two performed together were hilarious! Honore was played by Howard McGillin who did a good job, but did not quite manage the joie de vivre of Maurice Chevalier. Of course, when one watches the movie today there are kind of creepy lecherous aspects to the character which I am sure the modern actor is trying to avoid (for example the signature song Thank Heaven for Little Girls is sung by the women here, not by him). The biggest disappointment was the performance of Corey Cott as Gaston. He's a good physical actor, and can sing well, but his performance was rushed and not quite believable. Some of the important speeches he spoke as if he couldn't wait to get finished. Most of the differences between the movie and musical were logical and interesting. Mamita has a job, we find out what happens to Liane after the "suicide", we see more of the development of the romance between Gigi and Gaston...the only change I believe did not work was the "It's A Bore" song, where they tried to change the entire purpose of the number - instead of Gaston being bored with everything, he is fascinated with engineering and flying machines, and is only bored by everyday things - they should have just done a new song, because the rework is weird. So, not perfect, but definitely worth seeing!

The musical has great sets, costumes, flow in movement. The young Gigi has charm. But the musical relies too much on the original movie to attract an audience. Someone calculated that the name would always draw a crowd. Therefore, the staging does not have the excitement in characterization it should or could. We merely wait for scene after scene as we remembered in the movie. Especially weak was the transition of Gigi from girl to woman. It happened in costume but it was not convincing with the other characters nor did it engage Gaston, who did not show much character throughout the play anyway. The last quarter of the musical rushed through without engaging the audience. The important scene at Maxime's seemed almost an afterthought. The calculation, I believe, was that the last song would correct all the flatness, but it was not enough to do so. The musical was o.k., but I do not feel the pull to see it again.

The story wasn't quite what I remembered, although my memory could be off, or there may have been some changes. Two voices were outstanding: grandmother and Gaston. The setts were beautiful, and the choreography, particularly the scenes at Maxim's and with the lawyers, were especially good. The colors used in costuming in the larger scenes were very pleasing. Glad I went.

Went with my mom and 14 year old niece. Wanted to see it but it had to rush to get there before the closing on 6/21. Expected it to be just OK since it was closing so quickly but was wrong. It was a great show with beautiful sets, good music and touching moments. I know the movie inside out and loved the way this was changed up from the movie - having Mamita sing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" was an unexpected surprise. I had just seen An American in Paris, which is amazing, so I may have been tainted and expecting too much. It was a lovely production with a beautiful set evoking Paris, and amazing costumes. The lead actress was very good, but the show had no depth and was missing a heartbeat. There was no passion at all. The dancing all seemed redundant but satisfactory. I was very excited to bring my 12 year old daughter to her first Broadway show. She loves Vanessa Hudgens, so it seemed like the perfect show. I am a big fan of the movie and this production had none of the grandeur of the film. Vanessa was cute and fine, it really was a very slow and boring version of the story. I bought expensive mezzanine seats for four of us and it we ended up leaving at intermission. Every man in the audience was asleep after half an hour. I was almost asleep and my daughter really didn't like it. The person who adapted the original, created a boring show, and a cheap production. A waste of over $600. Luckily, Wicked, seen two nights later, was amazing and made up for Gigi. Wish we had seen Matilda instead...

Gigi never reached the heights I expected. To begin with, the set was more the type one would expect of a 'minimalist'.production rather than a typical full price Broadway musical. IMO, the cast was generally, and merely, adequate with the exception of Gaston, who came off as more of a child than Gigi, and never seemed to become a sophisticated man in any sense. He actually seemed to be more uncomfortable in his society than she was.

I didn't want to accompany my wife, who looks like Audrey Hepburn, to this version of Gigi but despite myself I have to admit Vanessa Hudgens nailed it. She had enough energy for the whole audience, as did Clark, Hoty, McGilin, and Cott. A real old fashioned big-finish Broadway musical!

I was so looking forward to this show because I loved the film and I love the music. I left feeling disappointed. First of all, after seeing many musicals recently, I'm beginning to feel that the orchestra is overpowering the performance. Sitting in the mezzanine, I found it much too loud. I feel sorry anyone sitting closer. The volume also can make it difficult to understand all the words. I enjoyed Vanessa Hudgins and the Gaston actor, but the rest of the cast was mediocre, I felt. There was overacting on some parts and a flavor to the whole show that bordered on the farcical, which is not my taste. The choreography was sloppy and lacked any kind of creativity. In general, there was no "wow" factor and it was not worth the money.

What was this all about ? It was not Paris. It was brassy and frenetic and uninteresting. I saw a much better musical at Dr Zhivago-seriously. Here Gigi was neither interesting as a young girl nor interesting as a young woman. She was way too loud and wasn't a very accomplished singer. But also the producers jazzed up all the songs so ended up sounding thoughout as circus music .

The costumes, set design, choreography and ensemble actors were all fantastic. Vanessa Hudgens was mis-cast in her lead role. She did not understand the dramatic arc of the play. Her role was to grow from an adolescent into a sensuous young woman. She did not do that at all. In the first act, she was bratty and careless. In the 2nd act, as she donned her gown, she donned a new persona. There was no through line in her characterization. I also did not like that a signature song, "Say a Prayer for me" was given to Mamita. This was a song that was to frame Gigi's growing awareness of the importance of her upcoming evening with Gaston. Instead, it was turned into a mother's lament for her daughter. Too trite! I recommend this show for young audiences and families who will enjoy its Parisian flavor and dual portraits of young and "old" love.

Gigi was a very successful movie about a girl being groomed as a courtesan. The play has been sanitized but it is still a "nice" musical. The costumes are gorgeous and some of the vocals, such as Victoria Clark and the young man who plays the lead sing beautifully. The actress that pays Gigi looks young and perky but cannot generate much emotion. Why they let women sing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" was foolish. Having a man sing it is not lecherous at all.

The play was great... The sound was great... The music was great... And Vanessa Hudgen was incredible. This was the reason people love Broadway plays... It was the definition of "Pure Entertainment"!

Very entertaining musical! Vanessa Hudgens is perfect in the lead role and the rest of the cast is excellent as well. Beautiful set and wardrobe. The group dance numbers are the best! Would love to see again.

A french classic deserves french, not British accents. If you haven't seen the movie (or your young daughters know the star) it's "fine" It was my least favorite of the 4 musicals we saw this week.

I took my senior high school troop to see Gigi at their request. They all remember Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical. While her performance was spectacular, the muscial was not so magnificant as one would have thought it could be. For starters, it was too long with way to many ballads. The set was very umimpressive for Paris with its beautiful flower-filled cafes and bright, splashy, beaches. To put it succinctly, the muscial was boring (one of my girls fell asleep),visually lacking of color and the story line is practically nonexistent. Sorry Vanessa. Better luck next time.

Vanessa Hudgens was great, cast overall is very talented. However, I found that the play was rather slow moving, none of the songs really stood out to me and were memorable. By the end of the first act I was thinking "That's it? Intermission?" And the second act seemed to drag with little happening. This is just my opinion though, I've heard others give it marvelous reviews!! I go to the theater pretty often 4-5 times a year but this show just didn't have anything that struck me.

A great cast, great music, a good story, nice sets. Vanessa Hudgens was an excellent Gigi. The one thing that could have improved the show was French accents for the major characters. It's tough to compare this version with the motion picture and those iconic actors - with their French accents. But, definitely a winner

GiGi, the movie, has been a favorite of mine since I was a young girl. My daughter recently saw it and she loved it. So, we decided to attend the play. It was disappointing to me and a little to her. First, GiGi was an ingenou in the movie. In the play she is not- she loses charm by not being an ingenou. Gaston, who in the movie is oblivious of Gigi's personna, abruptly and suddenly becomes aware of GiGis sexuality -it happened like thunder without any hint that it was coming. There was no build up of his awakening. Honore was too young appearing. Also, other than knowing the story takes place in Paris, there is very "Frenchness" about it. It would have worked better if Honore would sing his songs partly in French as well as English. The "Frenchness" of the story is very important. This play could have taken place in Nebraska! It lacks the innocence of GiGi and the allure and sexiness of "Frenchness."

We went to see Gigi on Mother's Day and really enjoyed it. I thought the performances were solid all the way around from the always must-see Victoria Clark to the charming and talented Corey Cott and the scene-stealing Dee Hoty. We were also blown away by Vanessa Hudgens performance -- she really captured the enthusiastic essence of her character and mastered the music beautifully. All the costumes were exquisite and we were thrilled that she had one more costume change at the finale. If you don't like traditional musicals -- this is not for you. If you do and love the music -- get tickets. It was well worth the money.

I am a huge fan of the original film version, and as such when you like a movie or book so much, you expect to be disappointed when the story is produced in a different format. However, this adaptation was so good, it became my new favorite! The cast was excellent! The changes in the script worked so well! Vanessa Hudgens did a fantastic job and was a fresh and delightful surprise!

I brought my daughters 22, and 18 for mothers day. I thought the singing was fantastic, vanessa hudgens great. However, I dont understand for the life of me why they would have women in the show sing "thank heaven for little girls" when it was Maurice Chevalier , who sung it in the original show/movie! He is famous for that! The show took too long to get to the point where GIGI and Gaston fall in love and the real drama kicks in.. my daughter almost fell asleep and i kept looking for snacks in my purse. WHEN they finally got into GIGI and Gaston THEN it was good. They should tighten up the show. I didnt find the jokes too funny either.. However, I still enjoyed taking my kids to this type of show..

Gigi has been cleaned up for a Puritanical sensibility. Evicerated are any traces of Colette and in its place a beautiful squeaky-clean production. Songs - beautifully sung - have been rearranged and given to other characters in order to remove any controversy. This results in a story - less about Gigi's coming of age to marry - and more about all the others in the play and their reactions to Gigi's coming of age to marry. The performances are wonderful, and the sets and costumes beautiful.

I felt that the two young actors for Gigi and Gaston could have stronger. The actresses playing Mamita and Aunt Alicia were excellent.
