Well, as far as Foxy Shazaam is concerned it takes a special type of band to be bad enough to have to stop and talk about how bad they are. There's not much more I feel the need to say about them......just wow, and not in a good way. I went to see Hole sort of on a whim. I have their albums but I wasn't really sure what to expect seeing them live. They put on a really good show, they far exceeded my expectations and I would recommend this show to any rock/grunge fans. Courtney was entertaining herself, let alone the music. It made suffering through Foxy Shazaam well worth it ;-)

I've been a fan for over 15 years and have never had the opportunity to see Courtney live until now. There was over a hour wait between the opening act and Hole. This made me slightly nervous after all the recent rumors, as well as her history. But this show was all I could have ever hoped for! Courtney was full of energy and good humor. She was witty, chatted with the crowd, and even took requests. She rocked her a$$ off for almost 2 hours, playing nearly all of the new album, as well as old favorites and a few covers. She growled and spit and screamed with all the fire of her 25 year old self. The new band was great, nothing but perfection. The opening band was..... different, but they got one thing right. The lead singer of Foxy Shazam said rock stars are a dying breed and that Courtney was one of the last great rock stars! She proved it on this night.

I wish she would play with the tenacity and reckless abandon that once made her worth seeing at any price. She needs to stop trying to please everyone and just play for herself like she did in the 90's.

Even though I said the first show was a disappointment, today I saw her and the concert was much better than yesterday, it lasted a little more. I would put 5 stars but I can not help saying why said it is Hole, if it s an entirely new band, it s like the New Guns \u2018n Roses, if it had been a Courtney Love concert I would have gone anyway.

Courtney Love did not let us down. Oldies and Newbies combined. She worked the audience into a frenzy. She rocked our socks off. Courtney gave us blood and we drank it like it was new life. Simply phenomenal!

Courtney kicked ass last night. She was prompt to start her show and rocked it out. The energy was awesome and the crowd was digging her. My only complaint was that the set was too short. She went off stage and we all looked around, like "is this a joke?". She came back on for a couple of encore songs and that was it. I was only disappointed because she was putting on a great show and I was wanting way more!

It was nice to hear the old songs, but it didn't make up for Cortney failure to perform. It was obvious she was waisted on something. She kept making mistakes and finally after 35 minutes went off the stage. 5 minutes later they came back for an encore and sang one song then went off the stage again. Bottom line they performed for less then 45 minutes total. In this case we got what we paid for. Ticket w/fees cost a little over $45 bucks and that comes out to a little more then a dollar a minute. Definitely would skip it next time around.

I'm a huge Hole fan, but this show was a major disappointment. The set lasted less than 45 mins and Courtney just seemed like she was going through the motions. There was a lot of love for her in the audience and she seemed to be in a good mood, yet there was very little effort to put on a good show. She needs to try a little harder.

I am really disappointed. Why the concert was less than an hour. None of the original Hole members was there but Courtney Love. I go to several concerts every year and this was one of the worst that I can remember. 6 years ago I saw her at the Wiltern and she was great. 10 years ago I even took a plane from another country 7 hours flight to see Hole in Florida, that much I liked her music. What happened last night?

I will start off by saying that I did not anticipate that Ms. Love would arrive on time, play for 3 hours, or shower the audience with flowery empowerment. If I wanted that I'd go to Lilith Fair. Hole did what a rock star does... kicks out the jams. She sounded great and did all the songs I love (and some others :) ). Best show ever? No. Entertaining night out? Totally! If you don't like Courtney anyway, this show would not change your mind. If you like some of her songs and find her antics amusing, it was avoid time. P. S. I think the crowd was on her side, so nevermind the haters.

The opening band is really a sight to see. The lead singer has a great voice, but the music is secondary to the freak show they put on the stage. Courtney started out strong and then seemed to get bored in the middle, and her voice ran out in the end. Still she was more than worth the price of the ticket - she makes the effort to chat up the audience. Wish she could pretend that she liked playing her hits - she really rushed through them. Mostly I love her attitude and the way it comes out in her singing / yelling.

A die-hard Hole/Love fan for 16 years, I have only had one other opportunity to see Courtney Love live (her short-lived tour with Marilyn Manson around 1998), and was really looking forward to this comeback event. But after terrible reviews from her D.C. performance, I was a little concerned she would be too strung-out to perform. Yes, she forgot some lyrics, and blamed a bad version of a Replacements song on her guitarist, but she's Courtney Love! She's crazy and wild and harsh and doesn't mind showing off her panties! She's just how I expected her to be, and just as entertaining as she was in 1998.

Hole was amazing in Minneapolis. I was a little worried about what craziness she would bring, but I was completely shocked at how wonderful and charming she was. She did show up about an hour and half late, but it was well worth the wait when she took the state. This was definitely THE BEST concert I have ever been to. I'm so glad I got the chance to see her live. She can still totally rock it!

As a big Hole fan for the majority of my life, I felt let down. Courtney Love sounded great, and so did the band, but they came on over a half hour late and the concert itself topped out at about 45 minutes, half the advertised playing time. She rushed through songs, cut out parts of some songs, forgot lyrics, and you could tell the band let her start the first three songs because they didn't know what she was going to do. While she sounded amazing like I said earlier, I had a good time but was disappointed that I paid for a concert so short without a good story to it e.g. "OMG, the concert ended early because Courtney Love started puking, punched a bandmate, and the rolled off the stage!". It ended abruptly, ending a song then just saying "bye!" and running off stage before coming back to say "What? My band's tired." So that's that.

This was a very low key and intimate show with a raw edge to it. Although the members of the band are different, Courtney Love's raw edge still takes you back to the days of "Live Through This" and "Celebrity Skin". If you've never seen Hole before I would suggest it highly.

Amazing, Amazing show. Courtney still demands total attention when she's on stage. She preformed for nearly two hours, which is unheard of with Hole. She sounded amazing on Norhtern Star, Reasons to be beautiful and Violet. She even played Samantha after she promised the crowd to play request. Courtney was back and better than ever in Chicago last night. Hope you got to see her.

The show was fantastic. I was able to wiggle my way through to the front since this venue was general addmission. Courtney looked great and sounded even better. It was nice to see her perform sober. She spoke several time to the crowd and seemed very happy instead of angry. I have been a fan of hers for years and she still rocks out like I hoped she would.

Was concerned going in, with new line up and all. Also had read some discouraging reviews especialy from Washington. Could be hit or miss. HIT!!!!!! From the intro song to the encore, awsome show. Miss Love was on fire. Also impressed with new band, well oiled machine behind Courtney's in your face prowess. Also liked the infusion of acouple of Stones tunes, Playin with fire monster addition to encore as well as acoustic ending. New songs fit well too. Vocals, powerful from high end screaching to low end growl, she produced. must also note her onstage banter with audiance was nothing short of pure entertainment. Verdict = SPOT ON!

Though I love Courtney, I was scared she wouldn't show up, she would do a short set, or other disasters would occur that I read about in her ill-fated Washington show. Thankfully, I was wrong. She showed up, did a set of classic and new songs, had an amazing band backing her as the new members of Hole, and bantered with the crowd all evening. It was a great night and she proved that women rock!

we drove to st louis from kansas city and stayed at the moonrise hotel right next to the pageant. sooo nice to stay right next door.. plus there's a bar about every other door. we ate at pie across the street..very delicious pizza and salad. the pagaent was so easy to get in, not too crowded, and they had a bar in front and a bar inside the actual showroom. neither got too crowded..although you can smoke at the front bar so that was packed later. courtney was beautiful and screamed with her trademark sadness and sweetness. she spoke to the audience a lot and perched her skinny leg up while she kicked ass on guitar. she played an equal mix of new and old songs, playing of course most of the live through this album. i love her. i'd definately recommend a hole show anyday.

Where to start...took the stage well past fashionably late, was completely out of tune the entire show, claimed she'd play a longer set to make up for being late then exited the stage in less than an hour...generally weak effort, we didn't even get the classic Courtney trainwreck.

I was VERY disappointed! At the end of the night, I felt like I had pissed away $32.50. The wait for Hole to come on stage was almost two hours! And then, after 45 minutes they walked off stage. Well... it would have been awesome if Courtney showed up on time.. she was suppose to start at 9:10pm, but didn't start until 10pm.. and there is an 11:30pm curfew in St. Louis at the Pageant.. so basically she played for an hour and 15 minutes.. when she could have played for well over 2 if she would have gotten there... but putting that aside.. she was awesome.. did a really good set... the pit was brutal although I was in the front and took the brutality.. it was worth it.. the opening band.. Foxy Shazam.. ROCKED the house.. seriously they were awesome live.. and will be seeing them again at Lolla.. so can't wait for that.. overall it was a good set.. she sounded good, rocked the guitar.. and did a great job.. :)

I really liked the earlier Hole albums and was looking forward to hearing songs from the new one too. The show was really short with the band playing maybe just under an hour (and thats being generous). There were some not very good covers of the Rolling Stones and Leonard Cohen and a really horrible blues song that totally sucked and which was probably the longest song she played. Courtney sounded really good but her lead guitarist sucked. He is a terrible lead player and he made the blues song excruciating to listen to (I mean who wants to listen to blues played badly???). When they were doing Hole songs the band was serviceable but not like the Hole of old. It's too bad. you would think at this point in her career Courtney Love could soround herself with some good players. The (thankfully) rare backing vocals were aweful. I would not pay to see her again because of the extremely short set. I expect a main act to play at least an hour and a half. She put on an opening act set. What a shame!!

The concert was amazing! She looked great and can still belt out the songs! She was smiling & drinking water & it was great to see her put her focus on a good show! She sang songs old and new: plump, doll parts, violet, malibu, reasons to be beautiful, etc.! I think Letter to God was amazing! It was worth a 3 hr drive even if a few rude, stanky, Detroit girls think they can cut up to the front of the stage right before the show and be annoying to all around them and wave their dirty hair in your face!

Courtney started an hour late. She promised her tardiness meant that she would play for an hour longer. She played for one hour all together. Her guitarist whispered to her that he was tired. So she said "Well my band is tired, so we're ending it. Goodnight.". She did rock while she was playing. I have to give her that. But I still feel like I wasted the $35 for the ticket. Courtney need to step it up about 5 notches!!

Hole was great last night in Detroit. From opening with an awesome cover of Sympathy For The Devil to closing to a mellow acoustic version of Thirteen, everything in between rocked. Courtney looked good on stage and still belted out the vocals, although she mentioned being a bit out of it. The set was a good mix of old, new and some cover tunes. She was particularly charming with alot of crowd interaction and threw in several Detroit references during the night. I liked the St. Andrews comment, the Detroit/Grosse Pointe mention in the Stones Play With Fire verse, and the ghosts that have been on the State Theatre stage. The coolest part of the night came after the show when we found Micko Larkin in the lobby taking pictures, signing autographs and talking with everybody that came by until the placed closed!

All the horrible reviews I read about both Courtney Love and the House of Blues were dead wrong. Hole played an hour and a half set, covering "Dirty Water" and "Closer." She even played a song off her first album. She was fun, sexy and entertaining, totally underrated as a performer. The House of Blues was air conditioned and drinks average $7. The stage is large enough for theatrics, and above are lighted symbols of all the major world religions--absolutely beautiful! Fully handicap accessible, the dance floor is smooth and clean. The bathrooms weren't near immaculate, but that is too be expected where people are drinking heavily. And the opening band, Foxy Shazam was impressive as well, although their set was short and sweet. I spoke with Alex of Foxy Shazam, a roadie for Hole and waited for Courtney Love to leave the building to tell her she played a great set. Overall, it was an experience I shall never forget and thank all those who made it possible.

The venue was pretty cool although once Hole came on there was no way of getting a drink and making it back to where you were standing. Once Hole hit the stage they came out rocking playing Pretty on the Inside and getting the night started on a high note. They played many old and new songs there was a great balance between the two. Courtney seemed comfortable with the new band and they all seem to get along with is always important in a rock band. The only bad thing was I wish she played a bit longer.

I was right up front next to the stage. Courtney Love was literally a few feet away from me. She was amazing! She looked great! She came out in a beautiful long off white dress that she said that she was going to wear to the Academy Awards. The rest of the band members didn't really stand out much except for the new guitarist Micko who would give Courtney concerning looks whenever she would forget the chords or lyrics to a song (she did mess up on the song Doll Parts and had to start over again but I didn't mind). Hole went straight into playing the intro of Pretty on the Inside then went straight into covering the Rollings Stones song Sympathy for the Devil and then went straight into playing the song Skinny Little Bitch. The rest of the songs that they played were a good combination of the new songs and the old songs along with playing Fleetwood Mac's Gold Dust Woman and Rolling Stones' Play with Fire. Towards the end of the show, they went back stage for Courtney to have a wardrobe change (she came back out in a little black dress with a white button down man's shirt and smoking a cigarette) and then came back out to do 3 more songs. Between some songs, Courtney did take the time to interact with the audience. My major disappointment was that the show was too short. They basically sped through 14 songs and the performance was only an hour and ten minutes long. I would've loved to have heard songs like Asking for it, Reasons to be Beautiful, Dying, Rock Star, etc. Or even new songs like Honey, Pretty all your life, etc. I just wanted to hear more!

With 3 drinks under the belt, I was uber excited to see her. There was a small line outside but we got in quickly. We got there just before Hole went on so I can't speak for Little Fish. I wish we had gotten there sooner so I could have been even closer. To see Courtney 30 feet away is the closest I have ever seen anyone LIVE. She looked great and sounded amazing! She did songs from Nobody's Daughter as well as some of my favs from Live Through This and she also did a version of Gold Dust Woman. My vodka pineapple was yum and my kamikaze was smooth. What more can you ask for?! Ok, well...there was ONE thing. I really wanted to get a photo with Courtney and was disappointed she did not greet any fans after the show. I'd been waiting for this a long time! By the time I "discovered" Hole, the band was on the verge of breaking up. Over time Hole became my all-time favorite band. So getting a new chance to attend a concert was just amazing and not to be passed up. And it was amazing and I'm totally glad I went. House of Blues really puts the audience first and, as the cliche' goes, all seats were good seats. However, I wish I'd been standing at the stage. Courtney does so much banter with those people that I wish I'd been one of them! My ONLY disappointment was that to me it was really Courtney Love with a backup band of three members; it really wasn't Hole. I tried to look at all members, but always ended up just looking at Courtney. Had Eric, Melissa, Samantha been there, I would have split my time looking a lot at each one. Oh well; something is MUCH better than nothing.

I was very surprised by this performance. My wife is a long-time Hole fan and I was never one so much. I am definately a Courtney Love-convert after this show. I expected her to be sloppy, forgetful, etc... but she did a very professional job and her voice sounded great. She is far better live than on any recording. She looked very healthy too, so hopefully that is an indication that she's been taking care of herself. Overall it was a great show. The opening band Foxy Shazam on the other hand...although skilled musicians, were a little bit "out there" on stage, but maybe I just felt that way because I'm not gay...

After some waiting, Hole took to the stage at First Ave around 12:45 am. Courtney still had her purse in tow having just arrived at the venue as she walked across the stage. Hole wasted no time getting down to business and launched into a cover of the Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil". Between songs Courtney treated the crowd to some of the adventures of Cricket Nordstrom (Love's alias at the time) from Courtney's years living in the Minneapolis area. The setlist was a pretty even respresentation of Hole's albums and even a few covers thrown in. It was good to see Hole playing a full set....well at 75 min set, much longer than the 15 min Edgefest appearance from 12 yrs ago at Sommerset, Wis. But most of all it was great to see Courtney enjoying her time on stage. Finally around 2:10 am, Courtney was ushered off the stage because of the curfew.

courtney love was in great singing shape. very late arrival and came onstage directly from her car. she played until curfew and wanted to play longer. she is talented and has been so wrongly demonized. i would definitely see her again. she plays a role in blazing the trails for women in rock. her band is good but we were all there to see her. they played a lot of live through this but nothing off the second side. good mix of old and new. covered the stones, nin and the replacements..lots of interacting with the crowd. she looked genuinely happy that people appreciated her.

There was about an 1 1/2 hour wait between the end of the opening band and Hole to come on but it was so worth the wait! Courtney was amazingly beautiful to watch and listen to. Her voice is just as good live as it is on CD. It was the last show of this tour and it seemed like she wanted to play all night...if it weren't for the curfew, I think she would have kept going much, much longer. My first time seeing her live...hoping it isn't another 10 years before she tours again, I would love to see again! Courtney Love is an amazingly beautiful fascinating musical icon. Such a tough, yet endearing person, I feel fortunate to have gotten the chance to have seen her.

Courtney Love still has it. She had high energy, was funny, and that voice sounds as good as ever. It was a great rock show with punk undertones. I'd see her band again.

Hole was excellent!! Courtney was so great with the crowd, alowing the guy in front of me to pick a couple songs since she didn't really have a specific set-list for the night. It showed how personable she is and kind! She looked happy to be there which made us even more happy to be there! She sounded AWESOME! Her band was awesome! I loved that they played old songs and new songs. My friend and I had a blast at this show! If/when Hole comes back to Chicago I will definately be seeing them again. I wish I could go back in time and attend the show all over again :D It was great, one of the best show's I've ever been too. We love you Courtney!!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this show. You hear so much about Courtney being a train wreck that I wasn't sure what we'd be getting. Courtney did not disappoint. She sounds great and still has one of the best rock n roll screams ever!

Aside from the almost hour wait for her, she was in top condition and belting out her old and new hits from her albums. Played a sparse but decent selection from her brand new album and def. put her best foot forward with our favorite hits!! On top of that some decent covers of NIN's Closer and A cover a Rolling Stones classic which the name fails me at this moment.

I was a little suprised at the low turnout, but then again the last time I saw her was at Lollapalooza '95...Foxy Shazam was amazing I think I was watching the keyboardist more than the lead singer although they were both great showmen. Courtney's set was solid and I could feel the energy from the crowd around me..

This was an awesome show... the best show I've ever seen Hole play to date. Loved how she was taking requests, loved how they played some interesting remakes of some cover songs... most of all loved the intimate setting and the fact that I felt like they were literally playing to me (even though they couldn't see me in the crowd of people). I'm super glad I bought the tickets and went.

I loved the show. Courtney is very engaging and likeable. In addition to playing some new and most of my old favorites, she made us laugh with her honesty in regards to her low credit score. So a fan threw their platinum credit card on stage and she joked she memorized the numbers and was going shopping after the show. She is definitely a performer who is even better in person due to her awesome stage presence. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I know she got some loud hatehs out there--&some obsessed with writing bad press--but really...That was A Beautiful show-- Like many others, I came in homage to a place in time I could still resonate and steep that seed in her vintage grunge work--some of which she'd added a new verse as a kind of update or closure and it was great and fun to hear Trent Reznor and Rolling Stone songs made new. I found it quite inspiring to see how she embraces a brave ability for artistic growth against odds and time to have metamorphosed into a Real Chanteuse-- So what I loved best about the show were songs I'd never heard--the new songs and the fascinating cover arrangements of Judy Garland, Leonard Cohen's The Longing, sung with such real commitment and introduced as overture of appreciation for his influence. She looked quite stunning but-of-course. No Not a current train wreck--for those who come to celebrate.a tragedy that's not them- She "Pick up the Pieces and Go Home" (Stevie Nicks) And for those stuck individuals love who find a reason to hate those who would represent capability of empowerment and transformation--It's scary to think you don't have to stay the same, (why who and what would you want to really be?) It takes a great deal of strength and a whole lot of work to Unfold your essence in the rigorous self investigations that are required. I was clear she was working very hard to embody this path. And whatever she had represented to me as any parallel seeds of my own or your personal history was now the present resonating with the present I found her to be a Fully present Human Being as well, with all artistic skills realized into greater hone and hue. Thanks for the Block Rockin Inspirational Experience, Courtney.

It's been over 10 years since Courtney Love & her band Hole, have played in Houston; the band's lineup is completely different from the one we saw in 1999. Founding member & now ex-lead guitarist Eric Erlundson is most noticably gone, as is ex-bassist Melissa Auf der Mauer, whose backing vocals seemed to be missed even by Courtney. She introduced the song, Petals, by stating that this was the first time the band has played it live since 1999, after which she said something like, "that song's not the same without Melissa". Courtney was being very honest there because it simply wasn't the same without Melissa, but not just on that song. While the current band isn't as tight as the lineup we saw at the Aerial Theater (remember that place?) in '99, there were no prevalent mistakes & Courtney is still herself: raw, unapologetic, & humorous. She seemed to be in a very good mood & even said something to that effect during one of her many statements between songs which, in the past, were mean-spirited rants, are now funny & witty comments. To sum it up, the setlist was a good mix of all of her albums (although I can't believe they didn't play 'Nobody's Daughter' or 'How Dirty Girls Get Clean'!?) with several (probably too many) cover songs. And while I was excited & glad to see Courtney Love on tour again, & seemingly having a great time, I can't help but think how amazing the show would have been with Eric Erlundson & Mellisa Auf der Mauer still in the mix. The show was great regardless, and with the lack of bands from the 90s doing any kind of touring, it was a good thing to see Hole, & the woman who is the band, play live rock n' roll.

Recently I saw a VH-1 "Behind the Music" on Courtney Love, and she said something to the effect of "I was built for this.." about being a rock star. She's right. Nobody screams quite like her, and she has a distinctive presence on the stage which she seems to own naturally. Time has brought her to a place where she's thinner than ever, wears designer clothes, but still stands there with a guitar in her hands and a wail from deep inside. Hole has always been about Courtney mining her personal tragedies for all the world to see, and she never holds back. She took the stage and seemed sober and ready to rock out. The music seemed to intoxicate her more and more, and as the show progressed she seemed high on the collective energy of the crowd and her own memories. It's good to see Courtney so alive and still very much able to carry an hour and a half show. The band she has now is tight, and they do a great job with a concert that demands they perform almost 20 years of music on Love's whim. She changes her setlist almost nightly, but you can be sure she'll mix enough old and new to satisfy any fan. Great show, and you should definitely catch it. Courtney Love doesn't tour often, so this may be a rare chance to catch a true rock legend.

Courtney Love showed she still has what it takes to put on a great rock concert at this performance. She looked and sounded great, and made everyone remember what a rock star is. The House of Blues is also a great venue for concerts - good acoustics and visuals, nicely set up.

I went to the show with mixed expectations...I've followed Courtney Love's exploits in the tabloids for years, but always had a deep respect and admiration for her musical and acting talents (Anyone remember her potrayal of Althea, wife of Larry Flint?). What I saw on stage was a beautiful, talented, fit (albeit a bit too thin), addicted nicotine fiend that was totally into her music and completely responsive to her audience. She was open, humble, cocky and a little wacky...she was "Courtney Love"!

I admit when I purchased tickets I was more interested to see the trainwreck of antics I'd being hearing of from other cities. But I've loved Hole since I was in the 7th grade (I'm 26 now) and went with my childhood friends. I LOVE that she played her older stuff - to me she can never top her 90's work. By the end of the show I was very impressed and surprisingly surprised at how well the show really went - aside from her tardiness.
