Other than most of the merch being gone by the third day it was a fun time with a lot of great bands . View was good . G.A. seating was fine .

Music lineup was great. Enough variety across all spectrums of metal, even dipping into hard rock. The Blackcraft stage was the worst viewing i've ever seen in a festival setting. The parking lot sloped away from the stage. Some of the crowds got large and it was impossible to see the heads of the performers if you were 60ft away. Stage should have been on other side of lot, backed up to Stadium stands. Would have been perfect. Also, there were no vendors accepting credit cards. I'd recommend going with arm bands to which attendees can charge stuff to. I ran out of cash and EVERY vendor i went to refused to accept a credit card despite the machine sitting right behind them. I just quite consuming because I wasn't going to pay the fee at the cash machine. Disney World provides an arm band which accepts charges and applies them to your credit card. Much easier and no one would have to carry cash. Ran out of forks saturday by 7pm. Ate burnt tips and fries with my fingers. Are we a first world country?!

We had a blast! It was well-organized, the people were respectful, and the bands rocked. Only complaint was that the sound system wasn't great (as opposed to the crystal clear sound last year). We'll be back next year!

A great lineup. Great beer selection. No wait for the bathrooms. Great acoustics. Great show.

This was one of the best 3 day outdoor concerts I have ever been to. I did go VIP, and will do it again next year FOR SURE. We had an amazing time. The weather was perfect, the music was GREAT, and the workers were friendly and fun! GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only went to the Saturday show. Seether, Godsmack and Korn put on amazing performances as always! I would go again as long as the headliners are worth it.

The festival in itself was amazing. Loved the venue and the stairs wasn't as bad as everyone said. As far as the other concert goers that attended. Way to much complaining. It was constant.

I went to the first Chicago Open Air and had a blast! The 2nd Chicago Open Air was even better, Its not just the Bands that where amazing but Toyota Park Stepped up their game compared to last year's. I feel like everything went smoothly. For example last year they ran out of merchandise and a lot of people had to wait hours in line to get the merchandice but this year they were definitely stock better! I read the website so I knew what to bring and what-not to bring the only thing that was the website said you CAN bring a closed 16 oz water bottle but as soon as we got there day one they "change the rules" and you can no longer bring a closed water bottle. So we had to throw away our bottles. For anyone that Is planning on going make sure you read the website so you don't have to run back-to your car. Also daily parking is $20 cash-only per day so be prepared for that.

Overall, if you like most of the bands playing, this festival is a good value. However, certain parts of the festival made it drag on, such as technical problems and not much swag/merch/food choices. It's a new festival, so hopefully it will grow. The worst part was the video ads playing between bands on the main stage. I saw that idiotic Cooking Hostile video TWELVE TIMES or more. Absolutely boring.

KISS played a out of tune on some songs. Their set seemed tired, and the video guy seemed off as well. Rob Zombie stole the show, i hope he returns next year as a headliner!

Ozzy rocked, Megadeth and Slayer were awesome. Great show.

Amazing line up! So many killer bands and the most amazing metal head crowd! Ozzy, Korn, Slayer, Zombie, Gossmack, Amon Amarth, Lamb of God and too many to name all put on a great show.

At Friday s show, the technical difficulties on both the video screens and the audio levels dropping on the main stage were very obvious to even us non-technical folks. I would have liked to see an unblocked, first impression view from the back of the stadium, especially since that was the one and only gate into the event. The bands were well chosen, gave great performances and did not disappoint. I do think the name of the event sounds more like an airplane show rather than a heavy metal music fest. It was a bit less crowded than I d hoped for this quality of acts, I think the name is why. Bridgeview's locals, their police and traffic controls were all phenomenal.

This was my first time at Toyota Park and Chicago Open Air. The venue was spacious and well thought out for the location of the second stage. The food and drink vendors with awesome with high quality food and many options to fit your taste. There were plenty of restrooms, and parking logistics were well planned and allowed me to get out and on the road quickly once the evening was over. My only suggestion for improvement would be to clearly indicate the locations of the various entrances for all of the ticket options. From the main road where we walked up to the venue it was not immediately clear we needed to walk around to the back of the stadium.

Great lineup, however parking was a real nightmare!

Event was great, got to see many great bands and get some signatures.

Rob Zombie put on the best show. Kiss needs to hang it up and retire. Megadeth was the loudest but was fun to listen to. Good food but the beer was WAY overpriced.

Last year's lineup was better but I still had a blast this year!!!!! I saw Behemoth, Stone Sour, Slayer, Amon Amarth and several other bands that killed it!!!!

Went to the show on Friday and although most of the early bands were pretty forgettable, they put on a good show. The first band I was excited to see was Vimic and they did not disappoint. The lead singer looks out of place, but definitely had the chops to sing. The evening progressed as expected with Anthrax, Megadeth and Rob Zombie putting on awesome shows. I was glad to see Dave Mustaine be quite a bit more animated on stage than in past shows. KISS was a major disappointment. Doesn't seem like Paul can sing anymore and their stage antics are pretty passe compared to many bands now. The stuff that was awesome in the 70's just isn't awesome anymore. Overall a great lineup and I can't wait until next year.

KISS : Still Has Some Left In The Tank, After What I Saw On Friday Night ...... What Can I Say , They're Not Gonna Be Around Too Much Longer , So If You Can Get A Chance To See Them By All Means ..... Do It !

Excellent lineup, food choices and quality was amazing.

Had one of the best line-ups for all 3-days.. Food and drink were a little expensive with that said... food was much better then most and you had an option for craft beer. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs if you what to see all the bands. Main stage was in the stadium where as the other was out near the vendors. Will be going again next year!! Great time!

My two biggest complaints are thmajor acts that were on the 2nd stage should have been on the main stage, and those of us that bought tickets months in advance to have people buying them much cheaper the week before the event. That's backwards! Other than that it was a great event. I'll be going again next year.

I splurged and purchased VIP tickets. This was absolutely worth the additional price given that you had prime seating & standing room next to the stage without the sun beating down on you. The VIP area provided a nice break from the rest of the crowd where you could watch the action on the stage from a covered area. The graffiti wall was a good idea also. The band line-up was outstanding, especially Fri & Sun. Toyota Park was an appropriate venue. Definitely a repeat event for 2018!

Slayer were phenomenal, Great sound & seeing Slayer in the daylight is extra cool. L.O.G. played too many new songs off new album that is not their best work at all. Behemoth were the only new band that played that I was impressed with most. Hellyeah's singer really needs to shut the Hell up, Phool Ass-Elmo without the Cred! Ozzy could & should know by now that the audience needs him to play deeper songs in his canon. Six great Ozzy songs. Four worn out radio friendly songs. Four Black Sabbath songs. Since Ozzy only had 1 hour 20 minutes to play they did not need a drum solo at all. I was really hoping for new songs off Ozzy's completed New Album, No such luck. The biggest negative is the spacing of the Bands, Both time wise & distance. Time was too short to run 1 mile between stages & do this 8 times???? After a 60 hour work week, This was NOT appreciated! They really need to correct this! Have only one stage with less acts OR have ONLY really small bands on second stage! Slayer definitely did not appreciate playing the 'PARKING LOT" as they said at packed show.

The bands were awesome, food was great and had a blast with some family and friends.

Great venue and great lineup - I love this festival ! Stairs were no biggie - real bathrooms are a huge plus for me . Plenty of spaces to get as close as you want to watch the concerts . BIG problem for uber/ lyft - was a cluster truck getting out of the venue

I cannot wait to go back! Tons of awesome people all around. Great food and drink. Killer bands all over the place. Let's just repeat the same line up for next year!

Had a great time. Opted for VIP the last day, and my only regret was not going VIP the entire weekend. Was definitely worth the upgrade premium. The lineups were incredible, but Slayer should have been Main stage. What happened to the video screens on the Blackcraft Stage this year?? BrIng those back please!

The 2017 Chicago Open Air festival was my dream line up. Artists booked were the best of the best from A to Z. As long as they keep lineups like the one they did for 2017 I will go every year!!

Overall the Festival was a success, however it was clearly downsized since last year in certain areas. Side stage didn't have the open access like it did the year before. A barrier was placed directly in the middle preventing a free flowing access, Also really bummed the side stage didn't have screens like last year. Also the main stage screens were smaller and wouldn't be raised until half way through the day. Also last year whatever band was playing would be shown on the screens on the main stage, side stage, and vip area and this year that didn't seem to happen. Nothing about doing the VIP 3-day pass made it worth it. No zippos, lounge area was pretty boring since you couldn't watch bands on the screen if you just wanted to chill for a bit, and we weren't let in early. Everyone was let in at the same time.

Once again COA was a blast .Bands Rocked. But merch was a mess again. Coa shirts didnt even have ozzy on the lineup. Most merch was late and sizes out of stock.

Awesome weekend. Can't wait for next year. Got to love new bands I have not seen before

I cannot recommend Open Air enough. The lineup is one of the best I have ever seen, the crowd was electric, and all the bands there seemed to give their all for each performance. It was unreal and anyone who is a fan of rock or metal should buy tickets.

The whole show was amazing. So many great bands in one place. Cant wait for it to come back next year.

The line-up was amazing and the timing of each band made it so that you never had to worry about choosing between two bands. The food was amazing as well and all of the staff was very friendly!

I attended Friday and Sunday's show, my biggest regret is I did not attend Saturday. I am looking forward to Open Air 2018. All the artists were awesome, the shops and food vendors were awesome. Keep Slayer on the venue.

such a small crowd... i go to them all rotr.. carolima reb... louder than life... this was the worst...so bad they gave you a free ticmet if you bought one.. ran out of merch and beer... no good food as advertises except kumas... wont go back... great lineup... bad venue... bad parking... bad small crowd...

I had an absolute blast at this festival. The lineup was great for metal fans like me. The VIP experience was totally worth the money. Loved it!

Lineup was amazing. Sounds was incredible. Lots of free stuff. Could have had more entertaining stuff to do. It all in all, one of the best weekends ever.

The timing between bands should've been a least 10 minutes. They were 5 minutes. Didn't give people a chance to see the start of the other band. When the last band just ended. There was a lot of running to see bands. Especially on Sunday. The merchandise booth didn't have XL shirts all weekend.

Got VIP tickets (a friend conviced me to spend the $$$). The GOOD: SO WORTH IT!!! Our own area with food stands, bathrooms, bar, covered area with a GIANT TV to watch the bands (when you needed to take a break). The Bad: The wouldn't let you bring in sunscreen (only 1 un-opened bottle of water). Stage was a little off to the side of the stage. They need to have VIP covering more of the front.

The shredding guitar by Zakk Wylde was absolutely amazing. Overall great show, wish we had something like this in Atlanta

An absolutely phenomenal group of bands; great people and a lot of fun. The only downside was the parking on Saturday and Sunday, but really, once you realize that you will have a little walk to do, it's OK. And to see bands like KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Megadeth and Korn all in one weekend was a heavy metal dream come true.

The lineup was legendary and the set times were very well coordinated so you didn't have to miss a thing. We go to a lot of shows and this was one of the best. Amon Amarth was one of my bucket list bands, they were high energy and awesome. Hope to catch a full set when they tour the states again. We took our 11 yr old and his back was to the stage when he heard Jose Mangin's voice. His awestruck little face turned around and that's all we heard about. He's still talking about how close he was to Jose and Kyng. The crowds were super chill, even during some of the heavier bands. My kid wanted to mosh so bad & obviously I had a tight leash on him, but some chill guys witnessing his pleas pulled him into a VERY mild & small mosh circle and he had a blast. Epic moment was watching my kid's face as he watched Slayer. For the rest of the night he was randomly screaming, "SLAYER!!!" or as he put it, "calling to his people." We love how clean the venue was & the layout of both stages mean there's not a bad seat. The clean bathrooms, food trucks and vendors were well coordinated and appreciated. Definitely going back with VIP tickets next year.

An amazing venue and legendary lineup, with tons of other activities to partake in aside from the music. Everyone was having a fantastic time!

Second year attending chicago open air festival and i can say that i have had a blast each year! Regardless of who's playing you will have an amazing time! Such a fun weekend I would recommend it to anyone!

Everything was very well done for the festival, the only issue i had was leaving the parking lot afterward, took almost an hour !

This was my first Chicago open air festival and won't be my last. This even was so well put together you didn't have to miss a single band all weekend on either stage. Food was great and reasonably priced. Just about every band showed up with energy like they were headlining he event, no one was disappointing.

I went to Chicago Open Air for just Saturday in the bowl last year. I had such an amazing time I decided to go with the weekend field pass this year. Worth it!! You MUST go all 3 days and you MUST get in the field! The energy is so much better there. Chicago Open Air brings out great food vendors and I was stoked to get a free autograph from Johnathon Davis of Korn. This is a can't-miss event!

The music was fantastic as always, however I hate the set up. Way too much back and forth, you always had to leave one band before they done otherwise you would miss the beginning of the next band. The format was way better at OzzFest or Mayhem festivals where they played on the outer stage first and then everyone went in to the main stage. I was handicapped so all of those stairs were extremely difficult to be going up and down multiple times all weekend. If the band's had been set up where everyone played on the second stage first, and then the second half began and stayed on the main stage would have been a much better set up all the way around.

The fest was well-organized with some great metal bands in its 2nd year. Great food and beer options - and reasonably priced. It was a great communal weekend shared with fellow metalheads. The lineup this year felt more varied than last year's by adding some of the "classic era" titans (Kiss, Ozzy, Megadeth, Anthrax) sharing the stages with 90s alt-metal (Korn, Godsmack, Rob Zombie), extreme metal (Amon Amarth, Lamb of God, Meshuggah), bluesy hard rock (Kyng, Clutch, Crobot) and younger up and coming bands (Code Orange, Norma Jean, Whores). Will definitely be going again!

Had a amazing time can't wait for next year!!! Food and water is priced too high 6 bucks for water is wrong!! And you should be able to go to your car your there all day!!! It would be nice to take a break charge your phone cool off!!!

What a horrible experience. Being my first time to this event, I was unaware there were 2 stages. Both the inside and outside stages had horrible sound systems. The fact Slayer, the band I wanted to see, was going to be a the outside stage was brutal. There's little to no time in-between acts, no time to look around. I did not even stay to see Slayer or Ozzy, the 2 acts I went to see. You can't see anything, the sound was horrible, and it was a 2nd rate parking lot, where they made us park too close together. I can't even imagine getting out of there after the show. I'll NEVER attend another of these events, no matter who is there.

All the bands on sunday were fantastic!The weather ended up being in the high 70's,perfect weather.But all around great lineup and great turnout.All the bands had their full stage setup and sounded great.Both stages had great bands.I will most definetly go to all 3 days next year,wouldnt miss it for anything!!!

I've been to several festival events - love this venue. We sat in the "bowl" most of the shows in the bench seats. We found them more comfortable to spread out than the individual seats. The large screens made every seat a "good" seat. Weather was beautiful. Went into the crowd fray twice during Godsmack and Korn, as long as you weren't by the mosh pit, crowd was pretty courteous. Security was good.

To me it was one of the better lineups this year as far as concerts go. A good time was had by all. I will definitely try to make it next year.

The best music festival in the Midwest! Thank you for bringing a metal/rock festival to Chicago, we have been needing one for a long time! The lineup this year was completely different from last year, but still headbanging. Cant wait for next year! Maybe charge less for parking, please :D

Outside of the initial confusion in knowing where to line up to get in on the first day (that absolutely needs to be addressed next year) the event was absolutely awesome. Since I had never been to an event like this before, I didn't even know if I'd like being at a three day concert. I had a blast! The facility was top notch, the vendors were awesome, and all of my fellow metal heads that attended were some of the friendliest and well behaved people I've ever met. Some were also the most colorful. The line up was mind blowing and I even enjoyed all of the bands that I didn't know immensely. My only regret is that I didn't go last year. I saw family scenes there that warmed my heart! I give it five stars and highly recommend it to anyone who loves metal! ROCK ON!!!!

This 3 day music festival is great way to unite with headbangers all around the world. Depending on the lineup makes each year different. If you are looking to find new bands or just to experience what rock music is all about - this is the place to be.

The entire weekend was awesome, the planning, layout and venue were on point.

Concertgoers were very friendly. My daughter dropped her phone and wallet and some kind person turned it in to an information desk. The venue was extremely clean--including the bathrooms. I didn't encounter any long lines. The music sounded awesome both in the bowl and at the other stage. There's a wait to get a parking space and most of us had about a 15 minute walk to the venue, but it was no big deal. Getting out of the venue and parking lots was not as bad as some reviews I read before the event. We went to see Ozzy, but the other bands we saw were very talented and entertaining to watch. Don't pass up periodic ticket deals prior to the event--you'll save a significant amount of money.

The music was amazeballs! We went for 1 day & were exauhsted by the last band. Everything was crazy expensive but that was expected. Bathrooms were lines of porta potties outside the stands, real bathrooms upstairs were huge & never had to wait in line. Only downside was when we first got there;I purchased two tickets for my husbands bday & printed them off after finally being able to view my tickets. (Took like 2 months for the tickets to be viewable/printable after purchase) the lady scans our tickets & says one worked the other said "unconfirmed ", my husband walked to the ticket booth since one of us had to stay due to the no reentry policy. He gets there & they tell him she never even scanned it, he comes back & waits through security again for her to tell him the same thing. he asked for a manager & she let him in but it was so annoying! Also ticked that I ordered the tickets like 20 min after going on sale & they were general seating not assigned. I got tickets right away in the stands cause we didn't want to be in a mass of bodies, in mid July, all day. They should give assigned seating on a first come first serve basis so people can get up to see the other bands & not loose their seats.or toyota park needs to play the other stage on the big screens while the main stage sets up for the next band.

Saturday's lineup was fantastic. Ozzy made the Sunday ticket worth it.

Bowl seating is bad. You can get to the second stage but not the main stage. The second stage needs video screens.

My son and I had an awesome time!!! A few hiccups with the bus, and also wish they would spread out The times of the shows. Going from one stage to another was a little crazy!!!

A definite must for any Metal Head out there! All the artists were great and the facilities were good. Field tickets are a must to an event like this. No other experience comes close than being upfront, in the pit, and crowd surfing. My only issue was that security wouldn't let you bring in a 20oz or less bottle of water, even though it stated in emails from the event that you could bring in a 20oz or less bottle of water into the even.
