My husband & I took our 6 yr old and 9 ye old daughters to this and we all had a great time! The girls loved the fun characters (and the actors playing them), the set was simple, but our girls still talk about the details of the journal cover and how they loved it came open. It was such an entertaining musical that my husband and I enjoyed it as much as our daughters. If you have a daughter (or daughters), take them to see this, they will LOVE it!

I thought the play was amazing. My daughter loved it. She danced in her seat and danced in the aisles afterward. It was very well sung and acted. The only things I would have changed are these. There were no programs handed out. It would have been nice if those were distributed. Also, the snack line was so long that my husband missed half of the play. Also, the sound was terrible. There were several occasions that there was terrible feedback with the microphones. Finally and most disappointing, the cast did not stay around to meet the audience and sign autographs and pose for pictures. My daughter was crushed that she did not get Junie B. Jones' autograph. As we were there getting pictures in front of the stage with the notebook in the background, the security guard (very gruffly) asked us to leave.

The cast of six was absolutely wonderful. The actors each played multiple roles very convincingly and the actress playing Junie B. was fantastic. The children in the audience were rolling with laughter at some points. Any fan of the books will get a kick out of watching Barbara Park's words come to life in action and song. I was very impressed by the voices, costumes, and abilities of all the cast members. The set was cute and well designed for quick transitions between scenes. The play was very fast paced so even the most hyperactive kids were entertained throughout the play.

This was a fun and worthwhile event. The kids were engaged by the story, the characters, the music and the colorful activity on stage. As adults, we too enjoyed the event. This show lasted one hour - - which was just about right for the younger kids ( our kids were aged 5 and 6.). I think it will encourage our granddaughter to continue to read and enjoy Junie B Jones books.

My daughter (8yr) loves this book series. She quite enjoyed seeing the musical, but says she wouldn t recommend it. She d rather stick to the book series. As a parent who never has never read the books, I thought it was cute and funny.

While most of the play was great, the unfortunate use of male actors playing young girls was disturbing for my 10 year old granddaughter. I understand budgets etc. Realizing that diversity is amongst us, I didn't feel it was appropriate for this play to use men for girls. There may have been comedy for some. The gal who played Junnie B was excellent.

We absolutely loved Junie B. Jones The Musical! The music and singing were great, the actors were perfect for their rolls and funny and my kids were grinning ear to ear the entire time! My 7 year olds only complaint was that it was over. Love love loved it!

I would highly recommend this show for any Junie B fan. The audience was laughing the entire show, kids and adults. Very cute, followed the books, and fast paced enough to hold a 4 year olds attention. The cast was hilarious. The quick change into different characters made the show!

I took three children to watch Junie B.'e Essential Guide to School. They all loved the musical. For me, this musical reminded me a lot of "Hairspray," because of the energy and entertainment. We all enjoyed the talent, dancing, and energy of the show. At a little over an hour, it was the perfect length for my four-year-old grandson, yet my eight and nine year-old granddaughters had a blast, as well. I highly recommend this musical!

Took my 9 and 7 year old granddaughters to see Junie B. Jones and their eyes never left the stage. The girls loved every single minute of the musical and all the actors. We sat in the orchestra section and couldn t ask for better seats. The prices of the ticket were very reasonable. The performers were very energetic and did an awesome job. Thank you so much for making this Grandma the best Grandma in the world.

I realize this is a musical but it was way too much singing even for my 6 year old. The pitch was also really high and we were bummed it didn't follow more of the book.

It was a bit wordy and hard to follow. It was difficult to even make out what the characters were saying (singing) at times. My 10 year old thought it was OK, and my 7 year old was asking "is it over yet?" by the third song.

My daughter and myself attended Junie B. Jones play and it was a fun musical production of the books. I felt the play was just the right length for small children. The sound was good and visibility was good up in the mezzanine. I would definitely attend another play for children here.

Junie sounded fine, but the rest of the actors' audio was very muddy and it was hard to understand what they were saying. Not sure if it was the local theater's issue or bad mics for the rest of the cast, but something was off and it was very distracting to not be able to follow the story line. Great value to see a live performance with great talent, but likely best suited for kids under 8. Thanks for the show... please work on the audio.

Our daughter loves the Junie B books, so we were really looking forward to this, but unfortunately we were disappointed. We didn't know that it was going to be a musical, so most of the hour-long show was singing. While I enjoy singing, it is not how I typically read bedtime stories, and definitely not how I read Junie B books to our daughter, so the musical aspect was a big disconnect from the books. It also made it feel like an ensemble, not like Junie B was really the star. We just didn't feel like the production brought out Junie B's personality the way that the books do, so we were very disappointed. My wife and I both nodded off during the play. Our daughter and her friend said that they enjoyed it (which is why I didn't rate it as 1 star), but both of them starting getting very fidgety after about 20 minutes, so it didn't seem to really be holding their attention.

My daughter is a huge Junie B Jones fan and this play did NOT disappoint. It was funny, upbeat and a great tribute to the books. Actors were amazing, perky and great singers. This play proves you don't need big props to put on a GREAT show! This was also our first time at Meadow Brook Theater, wonderful seating, small theater so there is no bad seats!

The Junie B. Jones production that came to Ann Arbor Michigan was very well done. Both the kids and the adults were entertained. My 5 year old, who has read all the Junie B books with me, was a little disappointed there were so many musical numbers and not as much dialogue. I think she was hoping for the stories from the books to be acted out with no musical interruptions. My fault for not forewarning her there would be alot of singing and dancing, with segments of non-musical storytelling mixed in. This is the first musical she's ever been to. Overall a really great show!

My 8-year-old daughter and her friend have read the entire series of Junie B. Jones books and love plays, but they were left unimpressed by this production. The set lacked variety. The cast is minimal. The story line that is present in many of the books, that of Junie B getting in a wide variety of mischief, was very tamed down, and instead we saw her writing in her journal. Overall, both girls gave it a rating of "not nearly as good as the books."

Her favorite is "Boss of Lunch", which she recognized in the play. My granddaughter was glad that "May' was there too.

Children actors should be wired with mikes. Even though venue is small, still difficult to understand what they were saying. Junie B especially spoke too fast and she was the lead character. Theater could use some serious sprucing up. Suggesting a visit to Cincinnti's Children's Theater holiday production. What an impressive presentation! May opt out of Columbus next year~disappointing!

I can honestly say that this was one of the better plays that I have seen. For those with kids, the Junie B. Jones books are very entertaining and "real". This play was exactly what I pictured the characters to be, if real. I was engrossed and laughed quote a bit. Both my 6 yr old daughter and my 4 yr old son, loved it (especially my daughter). Hat's off to the Columbus Children's Theatre! I will be back to attend more performances in the near future.

I took my 5 year old to see Junie B Jones on stage because she loves the books. She was really excited about the show, and loved the stage prop, which was a huge version of Junie's journal, which opened and changed to set different scenes. The songs were cute and the stories were incorporated from a bunch of her books. The only drawback was that some of the actors' microphones weren't working properly, so it was sometimes hard to hear. Great to see so many moms and daughters spending the day together at this show :)

This performance was very enjoyable for the kids in attendance. Imagine a theater full of giggling little girls and that was the sound you heard during most of the performance. The actors had the characters of Barbara Park's lovable characters nailed, but in particular, the gentleman playing Sheldon stole the show. My 71/2 year-old granddaughter kept referring to "when Sheldon did" this or that when she talked about the hour long production, which she did for the rest of the day. She was also very impressed that the cast had came all the way from New York City just for the hour long play. As a teacher myself, I was a little disappointed that the actress playing Junie B. didn't quite have the character's mannerisms as natural as those of Sheldon's which is why my granddaughter enjoyed his character more than that of hers. Overall, however, it was a very special time to spend with my granddaughter and we both enjoyed it very much.

The length of the show was perfect. I don't think younger children could have been able to sit too much longer. My 10 year old loved the show as he has read most of the books. Overall rating is a 4-star! This has nothing to do with the show, but it was very congested in the consession area....there wasn't a staff member to guide those that did/did not want a consession.

The Junie B Jones production was a great show for kids. The Effingham Performance Center leaves a lot to be desired. We were in Row E or 5 and could only see maybe half the stage. The seats extend far beyond the viewing area of the stage. I would reccomend the show but not the venue.
