The event was spectacular but a bit long. Many of the elderly persons there were really enjoying the music but became tired before seeing all the performances. The evening was beautiful and the Mariachi Reinas de Los Angeles really blew everyone out. i would go again but would like to see the performances to be shortened to give everyone a chance to be appreciated.

My family and I enjoyed the show. However, it was a little long. Perhaps starting earlier so people can watch the main act. We saw people leaving before the main act. Moreover the video quality and lighting was poor. We could not appreciate it that well. The acts were spectacular, and unforgetable. Thank you very much

we have been attending mariachi spectacular for a number of years, since about 1995. It was already two hours into the concert, and we still had not heard decent mariachi performances. This will be the last mariachi concert that we will attend.

It was not the best that we have seen of the Mariachi Spectacular. In years past the Specatcular has been alot better. This year it looks like they went to almost the bottom of the barrel to find there lead singer. There Mariachi groups were okay but in the past they were alot better. There last Mariachi group needs to change there act they put on the same thing every year. To much talking about the people who put it on and the awards being given out all that information is given in the booklet that is bought. Prices on refreshments were outrageous $2.00 for water come on.

The mariachi groups were good but the overall concert was not very professional. This was a concert and it seemed to me that I was at a local high performance. Not a good flow and the giving scholorships during the concert is not a good idea. Although recognizing outstanding students for the workshop is nice, I paid for a concert.

I actually thought it was amazing, the performances were just great. Each Mariachi brought something different to the venue and held my attention the whole night long. The energy each performance brought was really spectacular. I loved it. The Sandia Casino Amphitheater is such a wonderful place and it's designed so well I always enjoy attending concerts there,

This was my first time at a mariachi event and was not sure what to expect. But the music was wonderful, all of the groups were GREAT and the entire event was well planned. I can not wait to go again next year!!

The musicians apparently enjoy playing diverse music (broadway,classic, etc.) but the audience is more geared to hearing traditional mariachi music (which we don't have the opportunity to hear very often with such expertise). Female lead vocalist was average at best...not that she wasn't trying.

My husband, his Mom and I all went to the show last night. It lasted until almost Midnight and was awesome. The talent was amazing especially the ladies from the old days. They sang so beautiful. Next year we will probably go to UNM to watch the other parts.

There are no words to describe the fabulous "Mariachi Spectacular" we attended on Saturday. The talent exhibited by each of the performing groups was beyond measurement. If their talent could be converted to gold, there would be enough money to give each resident of the United States and Canada a million dollars EACH!! I've attended the show the last three years and have yet to encounter EVEN ONE SECOND of disappointment. The "Mariachi Spectacular", without question, is the BEST SHOW in the WHOLE WORLD!!

All the acts were excellent; talented, professional, entertaining. The musicians were all so good it was hard to pick the best. There wwas dancing and rope performers to make the whole experience even more entertaining and enjoyable. There was a bit of a rain storm that was on and off for about 45 minutes but the Sandia people provided free plastic ponchos; the evening was so much fun and the talent so good that we gladly donned our ponchos and stayed put. Will definitely attend again if they are there next year.

It was an amazing concert of the best music in the world. It is good to have only mariachi performances without a guest singer. The mariachi has enough great singers amongst them. The variety of music was wonderful. It was heartwarming to hear the student winners of their competition. Good to know this music will continue. Kudos to Norberta and the rest of people involved in this great endeavor!!!!!!

The venue was great! The weather was surprisingly wonderful - EVERYone was afraid it was going to rain (since the Sandia Amphitheater in an OUTDOOR ONLY venue. And IF it happened to rain?? There would be NO REFUNDS. Many concert-goers planned ahead and took UMBRELLAS - which (understandably) were confiscated upon entering the premises.

The performances were as as advertised, Awesome. The final three Mariachi groups all included a "Harp" musician. The Group from Guadalajara, was especially amazing. The five minutes, plus solo was worth the price of admission. I can not say the same for the audience. The people seated behind me, to sing along with the performers, on stage. I had to ask them to please allow me to hear the performers on the stage. The show was a little too long. I went for over 4 hrs. That was due to the long speeches by the Governor of NM.

The music was outstanding but there was far too much talk before the music even started. The music didn't get going for almost the first hour and because of that the show ran almost to midnight, Because everyone wasn't from Albuquerque, some of us had to leave before the show was over just in time to get home before breakfast. I know it is important to honor people but it could be done much faster. And having the Governor speak twice was way too much.

Mariachi Sol de Mexico, Mariachi Vargas, and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan, what more could you ask for? Even the opener, Mariachi Tesoro, was really good, despite not being at the level of the other three. The show opened with the American National Anthem, then the Mexican Himno Nacional, and went into the Master Class performance, with tributes to the late Miguel Martinez and Laura Sobrino, and just got better and better. It was four and a half hours long, with no intermission, but it was worth every minute!

We have been at the event for three years and have enjoyed it so much that we take more friends every year. It is a wonderful cultural event and we thoroughly enjoyed it, again this year. I like that we hear regional songs that we are not familiar with but I love, love the music that we all know and love. The events before the concert are very worthwhile for our youth in order to keep Mariachi music alive and I commend the event planners and coordinator. Will keep attending even though it is a little far for us Texans. Definitely worth it!!!

Artist talent & stage performance was professional. However, the sound level & sound balance was terrible. The bass level was drowning all the other instruments/vocals and when the bass wasn't the issue, the overall sound was overpowering. I had to leave the venue early due to the noise level. I am not old & boring. I routinely turn up my music at home & in the vehicle but this was overwhelming.

What a great performance by all the bands. I've attended this venue and genre of music for years & what I especially enjoyed this year (2013) was the deversified range of Mariachi music and performers. Sebastien De La Cruz (El Charro de Oro) was a hit and great example for the youth of today. Mariachi Reyna were teriffic and beautiful.

music was good, Way too much thanking and talking. Vocalists did not know where to be for the centenial song. When NONE of them knew to be on stage at one time, then no one told them. Nolberta Fresques seems to be running out of steam, this is her flagship, and it has not been her best lately.

Mariachi Spectacular was a great event as usual. It was somewhat disjointed getting started. I want to see more of the Master Class. Introduce the dignitaries once at the beginning and at the end, not during every set. What happened to Mariachi Sol de Mexico? I look forward to them as one of the highlights every year. They are so polished and professional. Please bring them back if at all possible.
