The show was great but just a little to long. They should have had a couple of openers to begin the night. The sound was amazing as usual for the Fox Theatre. Machine Head again delivered but they could do without the instigation of sorts when listening to their music on how to listen and get into their music. If your music is great then there will be an outcome without the dictation. In all , the show delivered they just need a couple of other acts to open up as to not get to monotonous with their style of music.

Machine Head was one of the best concerts I've been to in years. Even though Rob was getting over a terrible illness, causing major vocal problems, he sounded incredible! They totally kicked ass. Definitely going to see them again!!!

Opening bands were so-so, machine head put on an excellent set as they always do, despite some bass gear issues this time around. But once they got the bass back, it was icing on the cake.

This venue attracts big name bands while providing an intimate setting because it is a smaller venue. I have attended quite a few shows here but this is by far the best show I have ever attended anywhere! Machine Head played over a two hour set without any breaks!

I've been to over 15 concerts, especially metal ones and this was a fantastic show even given the small intimate venue (which made it even better) - fantastic set list, they were a joy and they even gave away items from the band it was amazing

Saw the "An Evening with Machine Head" tour back in January in NYC and was absolutely blown away. I couldn't miss the third leg of this tour now that it was back in the states. These guys play their hearts out, are insanely talented musicians, and are beyond devoted to their fans. One of the top two or three shows I've now had the pleasure of seeing twice this year if not the best.

The Stone Pony was sold out and you could not move anywhere. The great thing about this was everyone was there just to see Machine Head. There are no weak opening acts that bring in a different crowd. This was 150 minutes of pure Machine Head and my ears are still ringing 2 days later. There was not enough room for a circle pit so Rob called it a 'Rectangle Pit'. The Rectangle Pit started at 9:PM and ended at 11:30 PM. If you are a Machine Head fan, I highly recommend that you get to An Evening of Machine Head because you will not be disappointed.

An Evening with Machine Head is exactly that. 2 1/2 hours straight of the best of Machine Head, with no opening act. They started great and just got progressively better as the night went on, performing songs from their entire career. After 22 years, MH are as fine tuned an act as you'll find anywhere. For people who are of the opinion that metal is not real music, I would play these guys for them as Exhibit A and say "Oh yeah? Well listen to this." As far as the Paramount, it's one of the best places to see a concert I've ever been to. I've been there before and sat in the Loge to the side of the stage both times. It's a great view, plus you have waitress service. And, what's most important in any venue, especially for metal -- the sound is phenomenal! REALLY Loud! And very clear. Now THAT'S a concert! Go there. Support Metal. Support Machine Head! Horns!

The band is tight and make good use of the time spent with them. However, the venue's sound system is something to be desired.....the speaker for the singer's vocal was cracked and distorted, which was distracting the entire evening!

The show was promoted as one that would feature some older and deep cuts, but the set list was pretty standard, same stuff they always play. Being the show was "an evening with" and those in attendance are "hardcore" Machine Head fans... I expected a better set list.

Show was great, just kind of wish this was more of an anniversary or legacy set with a few more songs. You got a career spanning set highlighted by their new album. It was great to hear the band flawlessly rip through the set and even better that they now have a bass player that wants to be there and can hit the high notes vocally.

You will enjoy this show, since is over 2 hours long and the band played around 22 songs in total, from the old albums to the latest album, a very good mix of song, also it was nice to see the band played a long set, since normally they play festivals slot of 40 minutes 50 tops and they can only played at most like 6 songs.

What can be said other than a 2.5 hour Amazingly Awesome show of nothing but Machine Head. Songs from the 1st disc to the current disc were played. Multiple opening entrance themes were performed from past tours after the guys took a few couple minute breaks for them to get a drink I would guess. The entire show rocked from beginning to end, with the crowd getting more tired as the show went on as we got quiet during the short breaks.

This was my first time seeing Machine Head, and they lived up to every inch of the hype I'd heard about their live show! They had no opening act and played for a solid two and a half hours. The sound quality was spot on. Loud, but not obnoxious. Very clear and balanced. Robb Flynn does an amazing job including the crowd into the show. My wife and i also did the meet and greet. The guys were great, and we got a decent amount of time to mingle with them and get individual photos. Super nice guys! An Evening with machine Head will certainly be an evening I'll never forget.

Headbanger4Ever
I wasn't 100% in love with the song-list. There was one or 2 others from Burn My Eyes that could've been thrown in, but the best aspect to start with was Battlecross, Children of Bodom, and Epica {though I did want to hear/see them} leaving the original tour when M.H. wanted to perfect the new album more, which caused the band to perform alone on this tour. One night of just Machinehead was great! I once got a ticket for Megadeth, Machinehead, and Heaven & Hell {Ronnie J. Dio with an Ozzie-less Black Sabbath} and it was just to see Machinehead and M.H. did 5-7 rushed songs {I even missed 1 1/2 when I arrived} Megadeth {my favorite band} did 7-9 in a medley, and I didn't care about H&H who were on for 2 hours & 10 min. {when I just wanted to go home but took a friend who went for them} This made up for that. I saw an electric chair prop for pictures on Facebook from a Maryland date. It wasn't there when I went though. Even if it was, it was sold out in NYC when I went and the line for it to take pictures on would've been un-real, and they security got us out fast, so it would've also been difficult to do pictures on it afterwards. Security was excellent. The only complaint was that they did rush us out and a girl left her newly purchases beanie and she saw them pick it up off the floor as she left it in there and she screamed for it and they wouldn't open back up to give it to her. Maybe they didn't hear her, but it was also 15 degrees out. Merch. was pricey, and arena-priced {but if you wait until the holidays, or post-tour, it goes down a lot}. $30/T-shirt, $50/hoodie, $20/beanie. $60 for a flag/banner I think too. The group bow did it for me. So few do a group bow. Only the pros & vet acts do, and they did, and it was nice. They also did a group shot and the front row where I was served as the backdrop. The only small negative, if you own a live album, the thrown-in emotion and commentary by Rob is a bit what you expect, and you know what he'll say, but otherwise, it was excellent. GREAT crowd. I was shocked how everyone was so chill. Zero violence. Everyone was VERY happy to be there. Excellent time!

MACHINE HEAD did an amazing show. I highly suggest you see Machine Head if you get the chance. The lead singer is great with the crowd, he talked to us & made us feel good about being fans. Adam Duce(bassist) kept making eye contact with me & smiling. He personally gave me his guitar pick. I like a band that can connect with their fans, even if only for a short moment The Darketst Hour, opening band, did extremely well. Ive never heard of them before this concert. They definitely have potential. Suicide Silence, ehhh not very impressed. Yes they can put on a good show, I just don't like the screaming the whole time! Literally every song, straight screaming, it was a femiinine scream too.

Three hours of the amazing Rob, Jared, Phil and Dave! How the hell can Dave play drums like that for that long? Somebody buy that guy a pizza! Jared the high energy master of the bass whipped out the six pack ab's about halfway through the show. He looks like he could use a pizza too. Phil shredded flawlessly all night long, singing with the crowd of hardcore fans in the front who knew every word of every song. Ringmaster Robb held the crowd in the palm of his hand , working all night long to please and energise everyone like the master showman he is. I need to get some more of this!

I have been a Machine Head fan for years - ever since I 1st heard them in 1995. I have seen hundreds of bands in concert, but this was the 1st time I've ever left a concert early. After about 45 minutes into their set I decided I'd rather go home than stay and finish it out. Part of the problem was the venue itself. 1/3 of the crowd couldn't even see the stage because of the way the building is set up. They also oversold tickets so it was beyond crowded - everyone was so smashed together you couldnt even form a pit. And the sound from the band just wasn't very good. On their albums Machine Head is pretty brutal and can mix in some nice melodies but in a live show the vocalist simply can't hit the notes the way they do on their albums. Over all, very disappointing and I'm probably not going to go out of my way to see them in concert again.

Having seen MH play as a support act several times before I was excited to finally see them as the headliner on their own tour. They did not disappoint. From the opening intro of "I AM HELL" to the final note of "Davidian" this was a spectacular show. Machine Head played for almost two hours hitting on a setlist that was incredible. Sure there's always a few songs you wished they would have played but the focus on the new album, which is amazing, is not a bad thing. Make no mistake this is a full on heavy metal experience but its great to see a band that can actually bring melody and harmony to their vocals (not just scream indecipherably for song after song) as well as change tempo and mood so adeptly during the course of each epic offering from their entire career. I can't wait to catch these guys again the next time they come anywhere near Chicago.

All I can say is WOW! I last saw this band in 1999 and I have not seen any other band progress into an unstoppable machine like they have. The Newport is notorious for having a bad sound, but Machine Head absolutely DOMINATED! The only way to see this band is a smaller indoor club such as Newport because you need to be close to the stage in order to see these gods of metal tear up the stage.

These guys nailed it. From start to finish, from Old to Unto the Locust, everything was right on. They were like machines in their execution but it had the unmistakable energy of a live performance.

Top notch as always. These guys always deliver superior music, great message, and brutal live show. Very nice to see a headlining show again. It's been since Through the Ashes tour in '05 so we were ready.

Got to the club at 8pm, and Suicide Silence had just started. Missed Darkest Hour :o( who I wanted to see. So the show must have started at 7 instead of 7:30. I thought it was 7:30. But props to The Newport for keeping things on schedule. Machine Head were great...not only in performance and energy, but their light show was incredible. Props to their lighting designer, and lighting engineer. Overall, their mix was fantastic. But as a drummer myself, I was very upset that Dave McClain's snare was buried deep into the mix. He's a hard hitter and even then, it wasn't cutting through. I thought maybe it was the frequency of where I was standing for most of the set (on the side), so I moved to the back for the last 5 or so songs, just in front of the soundboard, and it was only about 5% better. I expect more from MH's soundman. He should know the most important drum to hear on a drum kit is the snare. If anything should NOT be buried in the mix, it should be the snare. So that was my only issue. Other than that......killer. Dave killed it as expected.

Show was awesome. Darkest Hour was sketchy to me, Suicide Silence was good for what they are, but Machine Head killed the show. Performance was amazing, Robb was on, guitar work was killer. Definitely the best House of Blues show I have EVER been too!

The show was great. Almost no waiting time. The crews were quick setting up and the bands played great. It did get pretty crowded towards the end and the alcohol always causes problems but its a metal concert so it is to be expected.

A jam packed House Of Blues exploded with energy as Machine Head took the stage opening with "I Am Hell" from their new album, ' Unto The Locust'. Heavy, aggressive and even a melodic classical guitar moment....which is all things Machine Head. Front man/guitarist Robb Flynn had the diehard crowd in the palm of his hand, yet the band seemed to feed off the crowd's intensity. Playing 6 of the 7 songs from the new album proved Machine Head is not some retro act that lives in the past because they have run out of inspiration. But they do celebrate past albums for the fans that have been there from the beginning. Their video and lighting show was the biggest of their career that added to the music. From Dave McClain's monsterous drums to Adam Duce's thick bass tone to Phil Demmel's soaring guitar solos, you realize you're not just watching another band. You are part of a celebration of METAL!!!

The Machine Head show was great, they played a lot of good songs and they communicated with the crowd a lot which is always cool. Suicide Silence totally blew, but Darkest Hour put on a great show too. Overall the show was awesome.

From beginning to end, non stop head banging that even a Chiropractor could not fix. 2 hours of Machine Head with no opening act. Sold out show and 1 continuous mosh pit . I highly recommend it.

The show was great, sound system was very good. Machine Head puts on a very professional act. I like the fact that there weren't 2 or 3 opening bands and the show didn't last past midnight. Drink prices at The New Orleans House of Blues are OUTRAGEOUS! I generally wait and drink elsewhere.
