Dont bother with VIP unless you need a super close bathroom, a laminite, pointless shaded seating (which is constantly full), and slightly hastier access to beverages and certain foods. i ended up spending the majority of my time right in the crowds with everyone else!. Aside from the Bible-Thumping protesters outside the gates, which were prompty blocked via covering of the gates, which were placed near the back of the event--and therefore the protesters went largely unnoticed, this whole one-day festival was amazing! I knew a decent portion of the bands playing, and each delivered! Slipknot, Godsmack, Papa Roach, In This Moment, Breaking Benjamin...all unforgettable! The Butcher Babies and The Pretty Reckless were awesome, and I even learned of a third female-fronted band known as Lola Black which were absolutely fantastic! Hot, but worth it. Drink water (which I might add, that the bands during the afternoon made a point to remind the crowd to do!).

Front row center was amazing. Speakers were in front of us but they didn't blow out our ears. Volume was great.

The Paramount theatre backstage was the perfect venue for John. In that intimate setting his stoires and guitar mastery were close up and personal. He is as relevant today as he was when he was knocking about New York clubs honing his craft.

Being totally honest here...I went to see the opening act, Ruby The Hatchet (who was awesome, by the way). But I had heard a lot of hype around the band Black Mountain and was really looking forward to seeing them, not really sure what I was in for. So, first off, the guitarist is amazing and in some ways is kind of the centerpiece of the band. Really playing some amazing lines and riffs, but then you hear the vocals and the keyboards all intertwining and you can hear that the whole is far bigger than the sum of its parts when it comes to Black Mountain. Word of warning though, I was right up front at the start of the show and had to move back (which I never do) because that guitar sound is so right in your face. So, if you're planning on standing at the rail, you might want to bring some ear plugs. LOL.

The show was absolutely wonderful. Balcony seats still allowed for a wonderful view of stage and performers. Music was well balanced without being overwhelmingly base. My young concert-goers had an excellent time and found the facility be accommodating, especially to my oldest son's mild autism needs. Overall a fantastic time was had by all.

I enjoyed all of the comedians except Sheri Sheppard I felt like her performance was way to PG-13 and not the correct audience! This was the Soul Train music awards show which the audience was predominantly blacks, she talked so much about her husband that it was unbearable at one time people were just talking to entertain themselves. Very disappointed that she didn't deliver a better performance, this was my first time seeing her and I must say I would not pay to see her if she was headlining. The two host Bill Bellamy and Anthony Anderson were great and both George Wallace and George Willborn were on point, Gary Owens was really funny as always and Lil Rel he was absolutely insane had never seen him before but he is worth seeing. EARTHQUAKE brought it home! Can't wait to see it on Centric to hear some of the jokes I may have missed because I was laughing so hard.. The venue was nice as well at Planet Hollywood.
