Incredible performances by true virtuosos. It was like watching a ballet with the notes being passed between each of them. Beautiful to see this level of performance reached regardless of the type music you enjoy. The venue is also well supported with staff and plenty of locations for bathroom/drinks & food.

Do yourself a favor and see this show, if you can! You will not regret it! Over three hours of fantastic music played by fantastic musicians. Truly a night I will never forget. Every musician is at the top of her/his game. I'm hoping a DVD of the tour is made available so I can experience it again and again.

I had despaired the last time I saw the Punch Bros, fearing they'd strayed too far into jam-band territory (something I'd seen coming for a long time). Shifting tempos, keys, dynamics all occurred with finesse and the kind of virtuoso playing they are known for, but it all happened at the expense of producing enjoyable music to listen to. This P-Bingo night was extraordinary largely because the new material they played seemed more song-oriented. The addition of Secret Sisters and Karen Elson on a couple of songs was great as well (check out SS's debut album,: phenomenal).

Over the top from the first note to the end. Have enjoyed their recordings, but they crank it up live! Many cherished unrecorded treats: paperback writer, deep bass transitions, off-wire Bach solo by Thiele and Big River with the Secret Sisters. The Sisters were THE sweet treat of the evening. They sang almost acapella-- which we prefer ever so much over their backed up recordings. They should sing alone or with the Punch Brothers. That's it.

The Punch Brothers put on an awesome show as expected. One note for those who know Chris Thile from Nickel Creek -- don't expect to hear any Nickel Creek tunes. When the crowd shouted out a request for The Fox, Thile replied that he'd rather play Free Bird.

Best event of the summer. Julian Lage's smooth and serene guitar work set the stage for a great evening. Sara Watkins ( the main reason we came ) performed material from her solo albums, I'm With Her, and a Nickel Creek and a cover song ( Glen Campbell's Gentle on My Mind ) with passion and heart. I'm With Her had unbelievable harmonies, and Aiofe O'Donovan's Apple Tree with Julian and Chris Etheridge was unforgettable. Punch Brothers were absolutely amazing, with Rye Whiskey our favorite. Their music cannot be defined or constrained to any genre definition, and the musicianship is jaw dropping.

Look, we all know Punch Brothers is an incredible band. We also know that all the members of I'm With Her are amazing from their own projects. But what happened on that stage on Thursday was FLAT OUT UNREAL. Seeing excellent people be excellent is excellent, but this was absolutely next level. The show was 3 full hours and I absolutely could've gone for another 3.

Saw Punch Bros in Portland, ME with a good friend. Unbelievable musicianship. Intriguing and engaging vocals. 3+ hour show, including 1 hour opening set from I'm With Her. Despite length, show picked up energy as the night went on. 3 standing O's. It was a gas.

This was one INCREDIBLE concert with unbelievable musicians. I am so glad that I have now seen Chris Thile and company in person, and I'm With Her was terrific. It's rare to see a show that holds together so well, but it is not surprising to see it happen when the performers so obviously like what they are doing and enjoy each others' talents and company on stage. Punch Brothers and I'm With Her are each formidable acts, and Julian Lage is impressive on his own. The added treat of mixing and matching people throughout the evening in different combinations put the evening in the top five of my live music experiences. The music started at about 8:15pm and, with one ten or fifteen minute intermission, went until about 11:15. At twice the price, it would have been a bargain. Thanks to a formidable group of young musicians who will be making fans happy for years to come.

What was Chris Thile sipping between songs? I'll have what he's having! The Brothers Punched with every song. "Another New World" took me with Annabel Lee to that kingdom by the sea. And talk of "Phosphorescent Blues" reminded me of the artificial world of vibrating plastic that I don't reside in. My Oh My, they delivered a beautiful evening at the Ryman Auditorium. And they wished us all Good Luck in the end!

Hearing music in the Ryman Auditorium is a treat in itself. Hearing the Punch Brothers in the Ryman is amazing. The audience was so hyped that the band received a 2 minute standing ovation before the first note was played for just walking onstage. The musicianship of this group is beyond normal. Each member is a musical prodigy in their own right, but when playing as an ensemble, it is indescribably excellent. I'd strongly recommend going out to hear the Punch Brothers in a live setting. There's not a better musical ensemble in any genre, classical to rap, than this group.

If you like Bluegrass, if you like watching virtuoso musicians at the top of their game, if you like close harmony, if you like haunting tunes, if you like rollicking melodies... if you like any or all of these then this is a MUST SEE show. How do these guys make all of that sound with so little effort? And, of course, the crowd at the Ryman welcomed Chris Thile like a returning hometown hero (yes, I know he's not from Nashville). The show was intimate and fun and fantastic! Go see Punch Brothers. Go now.

This performance was exceptional. The Punch Brothers, led by Chris Thiele, are an exceptionally talented group of young musicians that are also extraordinarily artistic in the range of creative expression they display. They have elevated the classic acoustic combination of mandolin, guitar, violin, banjo, and stand-up base to a new level. Each band member is uniquely talented in his own right and each is a gifted improviser. I'm looking forward to more music from these guys in the future, and if they are ever in your neighborhood, go see them. You'll celebrate the fact that you did.

This was the fourth time I've seen these guys play and each show is unique! They sang all of their songs with a condenser microphone, so it felt really intimate. Punch Brothers at The Fillmore 4/3/15 and 4/4/15. The unique blend of Master musicianship and extremely gifted imaginative songwriting makes this "Bluegrass" appearing band true genre benders. I have been to MANY MANY great shows over my 61 years...many of the greatest of all time...THIS was the BEST show I have seen. So glad I was able to attend both nights. Seeing the five of them gather around one mic for the acapaella "Auld Triangle" to the exquisite classical Suite Bergamasque (4th Movement) Passepied (Claude Debussy) The set takes the musical senses to every imaginable height. Chris Thile has complete command of the stage and is captivating as an complete entertainer. Again, to repeat myself...BEST SHOW EVER!

WOW! These guys were on fire! All 5 are virtuoso musicians and they had the audience thrilled from the first rifts. I m a huge bluegrass fan , from traditional to insurgent. These guys are all well schooled in traditional but they have the artistic chops to take bluegrass into whole new realm. The music is jazz, pop, classical with the high lonesome sound that makes it irresistible. Their vocal harmonies will give you goosebumps and their tight licks will please all ages and musical tastes. I have been watching Chris Thiele since he was just a teen playing with Nickel Creek. I sound like his old aunt saying this but truly, this boy is all grown up now and his music reflects this maturity and depth. I have always thought that Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder were the rock stars of the bluegrass world but I can see that the Punch Brothers are claiming this title for their generation. I will shut up now. Just BUY THE TICKETS!

Great performance with lots of energy and technical ability. I found, however, that I was drawn more to their playing/singing on older bluegrass-style songs than to their efforts to move beyond the genre. The mix of more urban/21st century lyrical themes with lots of pop gloss didn't do it for me. I'm not suggesting they stay stuck in traditional bluegrass or have to sound like every other Americana act, and string band music, but I'm just not thrilled with the direction they're taking in moving away from and beyond their roots.

Punch Brothers delivered a cerebral blow that will effect me for life! I knew Chris Thile was an exceptional musician, but never dreamed how amazing he would be "live" and that he would be surrounded by 4 compadres of equally stellar musical caliber, acumen and charm. If you get the chance, just go. And get ready for an experience that will make you stomp your feet, sing beautiful harmony, and smile your face off!!!

The Punch Brothers did not disappoint! They were entertaining, engaging, talented, innovative, and the performance was incredibly tight. Their music showed influences across multiple genres, with a solid 'american' music background with plenty of bluegrass style energy! I was unaware until 'front man' Chris walked on stage that I had seen him before in his Nickel Creek days....he was solid then, and the same held true for this performance. This is a very talented group of young musicians, and I would recommend them to anyone!

What an intriguing band and show!! I was not real familiar with them - my son (a mandolin & guitar player) was into them and had played their latest for me once. Bluegrass instrumentation and garb (all of which I like) but very little bluegrass music - all over the map!! Did they really cover Radiohead?!?!

Utterly amazing. And during the worst snowstorm of the winter, too!

It was totally worth trudging through the snow to see them. They are so talented! Chris Thile never disappoints. They played longer than expected considering they had an opener (also very good) and a legit intermission in between. Very glad I was there.

Chris Thile is a leader, and also an equal peer amongst great peers in this ensemble, one of two Thile performs in that we've seen, the other being Goat Rodeo at HOB a few years ago. The standard of musicianship, the collegiality, the seriousness and joy with which the Punch Brothers approach their craft, and the expansive repertoire made us and many in the audience feel very lucky to be there hearing this incredible music. I would return again and again. I love the size of the venue for music like this.

Wonderful band, beautiful theater. Audience lousy. Too much texting and Facebook during the show. People shooting video during the show. Terrible distraction. From now on it's front row or nothing. People don't know how to act at a concert anymore!!

hard to imagine finding five more talented performers in one place than the punch brothers. we knew they were good.......but this concert was one of the best ever. music, voice, blend and showmanship all in one very tight package. can't recommend them enough.
