Swing Out Siter was just incredible... The talent in that band was exceptional... The conga player was inspiring.. She was so into it.... As for Corinne sings like an angel... OMG... Sounds like she did 20 years ago.... They played for a little over 2 hours,.,, Man that girl can sing and the band was great!!! She is very beautiful also... Now lets talk about where she played.. yikes.... I was like really... In Allston the Brighton Music Hall.. more like a bar in the back streets of Boston... No chairs... Had so stand for 3 hours... That sucked... I am hoping the next time she comes it will be at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston.... Thats where she belongs not in some bar in the back streets of Boston...

Swing Out Sister in New York City was one of the most amazing concerts I ever attended. I was impressed that they started exactly on time, and that they had no opening act. Sometimes opening acts are overrated. You just want to see the band you want to see, and the die hard fans there certainly did. I would see them over and over again. Bravo to Corinne, Andy, and the entire band!

OMG - I've loved SOS for as many years as I can remember. Can't believe I got to see them live at the Birchmere - not once, but twice when they added a 2nd show. Corrine is simply surreal - the whole band was out of this world excellent. How long will I have to wait to see SOS live again - please hurry back state-side!

I vaguely remembered their '80s pop hits, but this concert was the first time that I heard them live. Absolutely wonderful sophisticated jazzy riffs and lyrics with hooks galore. Such a pleasure listening to consummate pros at work.

People started walking out half way through the concert. That was how boring it was. Corinne played almost all songs in a very slow jazz/blues manner. C'mon...Break Out is supposed to pump you with energy, not put you to sleep!!

First of all, no mention of a DJ prior so the event started 1 1/2 hours late. Then A band that seldom tours decided to mail this one in. One hour of all their songs sung bossa nova style. Why, was there a big request for re-interpretations of songs we never hear live? So many songs to choose and yet only an hour's worth of music then "Breakout" again played just as slow as the time they played it earlier in the show. That's mailing it in. Sorry, but I have followed this band since it's first album in the states and will no longer be giving them my hard earned money for a less than exciting event. Be forewarned. Such a cool band-Such a sorry show.

The performance was wonderful! We did miss the brassy sound that we were hoping for though. Corine's voice was not only melodic but ageless, a sheer delight to the ears. The only letdown was the ending.....it was over, wished and hoped for more. Look forward in their return to Chicago.

Corrine and Andy just get better with time. Their instrumental genuise is timeless. They were even better than they were over 20 years ago. Corrine's voice was amazing. The band especially the percussionist was right on beat.

Swing Out Sister has a small, but very devoted fan base. We saw SOS at a small venue in LA. Her voice was smooth, and silky as always. There was mix of new and old music. If you're expecting to hear an exact duplication of Breakout, then you'll be disappointed. What you will hear is more accoustic version of their most famous US hit.

I wish the concert, any concert for that matter would start closer to show time, they left us standing outside for an hour, but once the show got started it was great. Her band and back up singers were faultless as far as I could tell. I wouldn't go to the El Rey again for a concert as the seating sucked, but the sound was decent. I was expecting more of the horns I hear on her recordings, but even with the almost unplugged, no heavy horns show, it sounded just fine. It is her voice that makes any song a treasure. I could have done without the nod to President Obama, and my friend who saw her the night before in San Francisco told me she did the same thing there. How about you, what did you think?

Swing Out Sister is amazing. We actually flew out to LA from San Antonio Tx for two days specifically to see Swing Out Sister. Corinne Drewery and Andy Connell and the other musicians delivered the greatest concert ever next to U2 back in 1992. They are absolutely sophisticated. It was worth the trip and I would do it again.

The intimate setting of the BB King Club was the perfect place to showcase the talent and soul of Swing Out sister. Both sets drew from their new album, 'Beautiful Mess' as well as many crowd favorites. No one sings like Corrine and no one composes and plays like Andy. The cover songs they do are always fantastic (i.e. 'Stone Soul Picnic') and offers a glimpse into their songwriting and musical origins. As they tour so rarely in the united States, every show is like a rare and expensive wine: to be enjoyed as often as it can be found.

This group provided a musical tapestry of sweet, joyous, jazz-infused pop for an entirely enjoyable evening at the El Rey. Great vocals from the lead singer of the band, as well as, the wonderful back up singer and musicians. Worth seeing no matter whether you know their hits or not (but, you'll discover you do!). British duo Swing Out Sister breezed into town, treating us to their special brand of sophisticated sounds. It was a stripped down band, with only a percussionist, guitarist, upright bass player, and one back up singer along with keyboardist Andy Connell and vocalist Corinne Drewery. Performing songs from most of their 9 studio LPs, the band charmed us with their swaying, sweet music, highlighted by songs from their latest offering, "Beautiful Mess", which made a surprise showing on the Billboard Jazz chart, coming in at No. 5. It was a terrific show with a friendly, appreciative crowd. The only negative to this show was the fact that it had to end. Let's hope we get another tour sooner than the four-year wait we had for this one. This is life-affirming music that we need so much in these troubled times.

There is no better venue to see musical performances than the Birchmere. The crowd is always really into whatever group they come to see. The intimate setting really gets the energy going. The performers appear to really enjoy it which makes for a special performance. My group included ages 50 to 82 and we all had a great night and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The entertainers were fantastic! The lead singer kept everything going, looked great and had a wonderful voice and demeanor. The second singer also had a great voice. The musicians were top notch with impressive musical arrangement. It was their second night because first night sold out. Many of those who attended first performance came back for the second one. I will always go to see Swing Out Sisters and recommend it to everyone I know.

First and foremost God is good and I'm fully aware all things are done in God time. I have follow this group for 30 years of my life. I'm amazed, star struck, happy, excited, etc. my dream finally arrived!!!!! What a journey. Corinne and the band was friendly, kind and "down to earth" with her fans. To experience Corinne singing live allow me to understand why I'm attractive to her music and identify. At the after party Corinne dance, laugh, hug, picture taken with people and never once did I see her get annoyed or run away. To top the evening off Corrine and the group allowed the fans to love them. Also, It was no better place for the Swing Out Sister to perform but at B.B. KING BLUES CLUB in intimate setting w/ good food. I'm loving it!!!!

First time to Birchmere and had a great show experience with one of my all time favorite bands. Corinne and Andy sounded terrific and they played all their best material. Even without the benefits of a full studio her voice is impeccable!! They got lots of audience participation from this sold out crowd. They only come to US every few years and this show combined with the friendly Birchmere staff went supremely well. Stop and think it over, yep, she's the same girl...

This was an awesome and amazing show! The vocals were very crisp and clear. No lip synching there. The band was awesome as well. This is a very talented group. I have heard of their song "breakout", but did not know anything else. It wasn't until they appeared a few years ago at the Capitol Jazz Fest, Columbia, MD, that I took notice of their talent. So much so, that I vowed to see them the next time the come to the DC Metro Area. A few years ago they were scheduled to play at the Birchmere, but do the volcanic ash in the UK, the show as canceled. I was thrilled to learn they would be back, a few years later, but definitely worth the wait!!!!

Swing Out Sister at the Birchmere exceeded my greatest expectations. All the musicians were in excellent form and the mood was energetic and happy. The group offered a marvelous selection of songs that spanned the many years that they've been together and offering the world their remarkable music. The crowd was enthusiastic, happy, and remarkably diverse. The venue was big enough to create an exceptionally energetic atmosphere, yet small enough to allow for an intimate connection between performers and audience. I've been an enthusiastic fan of Swing Out Sister for more than 20 years, but this was my first opportunity to see them perform live and in person. They did not disappoint!

I could not have been more satisfied with the show. Swing Out Sister has been the best kept secret in America. Now that the secret is out, I hope they go all the way to the top. What a bright, happy evening it was at the Birchmere with Swingout Sister. Corinne Drewery looked and sounded great. Andy Connell is a master arranger and keyboardist. Those smooth jazzy chords, modulations and quick tempo changes kept the music hopping and interesting for most of the evening. The best word I can use to describe their music is "bright". Even when it's moody, it has a bright, positive quality to it. Corinne has a lovely, relaxing timbre to her voice that never comes across as harsh or forced. The music itself supports her range perfectly. The other musicians were "tops", not a weak one in the bunch and you couldn't help but enjoy the female percussionist and the funky bass player. The crowd was very into it and the band seemed to appreciate it. The only flaw for me was the slow moody renditions of their major hit "Breakout". Why take the one song people are most familiar with and make it a moody jazz piece. Even the ending version wasn't played straight, but at least the chorus was a bit faster. Short of that one set back, I highly recommend catching them live if you can.

Swing Out Sister's 90 minute set at the Birchmere was a delight. The band was tight and the vocals were even better than their recordings. They interwove pop songs from other artists with their own songs and seamlessly moved from song to song. They reworked the arrangements for some of their hits to good effect. Wednesday, July 3 was a fabulous night at Chene Park. Swing Out Sister, one of the world's most under-rated bands, returned to Detroit and put on a great show. The band was tight, Corrine and Gina were singing like angels and crowd got more and more into the show as the evening went on. Corrine noted how much their music was influenced by Motown on a number of occasions throughout the show. The set included lots of older hits as well as songs not usually heard in previous shows.

SOS delivered with the energy and stage presence fans love them for. Coupling them with the DJ set as opening act seemed a real error in understanding the SOS crowd. Thumping overly volumized (higher volume level than SOS!) dance tracks as the intro to a melodic vocal-based main act was a miscalculation on somebody's part. Unfortunately, the sound mix for SOS did not correct itself until the last third of the concert. Muddied vocals eventually gave rise to some beautifully sounding selections with Stoned Soul Picnic (last selection before encore) achieving perfection. Liked the band, not the evening.

Swing Out Sister was incredible and to see them live was a revelation. Their deepening foray into jazz and soul made for a perfect combination with the venue B.B.King's in Manhattan. The evening was magical and the band was tight. They played jazzier arrangements of all their hits throwing snippets of 70's soul classics here and there in their own songs, much to the delight and surprise of the adoring crowd. The band, fronted by original members Corrine Drewery and Andy Connell attended the after-party at Lucille's (also at B.B.King's) and were graciously signing autographs and taking pictures with the crowd.

I have waited 25+ years and endured a volcano in Iceland to see this band in person. And I would wait another 25 years for it to happen again. Swing Out Sister was incredible, unbelievable, outstanding, and one of the 3 best concerts I have ever seen-and I have been to many. Seeing Corrine, Andy and the band was a dream come true. I flew 750+ miles to see them while other people at my table were from S. Carolina, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City-that is true dedication in my book. Starting off with "Surrender" made me smile immediately! Hearing a quick almost acapella snippet of "After Hours"-my fave SOS song-almost made me cry. "You on my Mind" had the crowd singing and hearing not one but TWO versions of "Breakout" just added to the splendor of the evening. Corrine took the time afterwards to come out for a meet and greet. She couldn't have been any more gracious-posing for pictures, doing autographs, and just generally enjoying herself which was evident from her big smile-and mine! It was truly a magical evening from beginning to end.

Having been a major fan for 22+ years, I was thrilled to learn that Swing Out Sister was once again visting the US, if only for 5 dates. The band did not disappoint! Corinne Drewery's voice is as flawless live as it is on record. Their unique brand of pop/jazz/ blue-eyed-soul is perfect for this venue. Andy Connell is an immensely talented keyboard player. The rest of the band played wonderfully. The band played for over two hours and their rapport with the audience was wonderful. The band's CD "Beautiful Mess" was released a few weeks before the show in the US after a Japanese release about a year before. The CD debuted at # 5 on Billboard's Jazz chart! Many of their songs were reworked to suit the caberet style, the five-piece band, and the lack of horns which are evident in many of their CDs. The versions did not disappoint. Drinks and meals at B.B. King's are on the pricey side but at least they were delicious. Upon returning, I would order a few drinks during the show but save dinner for after.

After a three year wait since the forced cancellation of their previously scheduled Atlanta tour date Swing Out Sister performed at the Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points. They were well worth the wait. SOS's performance was a memoriable fusion of jazzy pop hits that literally lifted the crowd to their feet as they joined in the singing of their favorite songs. Corinne looked fabulous and her voice was perfect. Andy and the Band were sensational. They played for 45 minutes, took a 15 minute break, and then played for an additional 60 minutes. Overall it was a fantastic show and I am overjoyed at having the opportunity to see them and check off another bucket list item.

Gushing about how wonderful the whole experience of being in a packed room full of dedicated fans watching a band that defined my teens and subsequent years. Transfixed by the music and the mere fact that I had finally experienced a 'bucket list' kind of event. This all would be correct but at the end of the day. Swing Out Sister is pure talent and melodic beauty. The set was amazing. The whole band was top notch and Corrine was at the top of her game. I hope one day a broader audience will discover the talents of this amazing group. As for the 700-so people in the audience that night, they all witnessed something beyond wonderful.

I have been a fan for a long time, but have never seen them live. What a treat... their live versions of familiar tunes were innovative, fun, and well executed. They ran a tight ship, going through a ton of hits in only two hours. Great musicianship and audience interactions... absolutely loved every minute of it!

The set was awesome! Lots of classics interspersed with new work. Crowd was enlivened and very grateful for the band's appearance, one of only 9 venues Stateside this tour. Corinne, Andy, and the band were quite gracious with their time.

A 26-year dream came true this past Tuesday night when I saw Swing Out Sister live for the first time. The concert at Variety Playhouse was sold out, and fans had come from as far away as New Mexico for the show. SOS did not disappoint. Two hours of hits and covers ("Breakout," "Twilight World," "Am I The Same Girl," "Stoned Soul Picnic" to name a few, along with some inspired mashups like Prince's "Diamonds & Pearls"). The many standing ovations brought lead singer Corinne Drewery to tears. If they come to a city near you in the future, this is a must-see band.

After being an avid fan for 25 years, this was an experience long in the making. SOS was truly outstanding. From the moment they took stage through to encore, Corinne and Andy not only evidenced that they have not lost a musical step, but they have only gotten better with time. Gina Foster is an incredible back-up vocalist who could be a solo artist in her own right. Tim Cansfield on guitar is so technically sound, it's ridiculous. Jody Linscott on percussion was great to see live. Corinne was simply Corinne. Elegant, melodic, and flawless. I only wish we could have heard more of Andy solo on keys. as an ensemble, they were simply fabulous.

What a wonderful event. Swing Out Sister's first ever show in Boston. So we had to wait more than 20 years to see them, but was it ever worth it. Corrine Drewery looked wonderful and sounded even better. Their backing band was anchored by a terrific Boston gal, percussionist Jody Linscott.

What a treat! The show was amazing. SOS reworked some of their classics and threw in a few surprises like they always do. A must see live band. I can't wait for the next tour. 25 years and still going strong!

What a FANTASTIC show! Finally got to see one of my favorite bands live....Such a great group of very talented musicians.....Corrine engaged the audience in between songs with friendly banter, and encouraged some audience "sing alongs" with some of their better known tunes....Very tight performance....Each musician was given a little "solo" time....Just a perfect performance in every way....I hope I get to see them again sooner than later!

The remixes of standard SOS tunes was hot! Love the band. Singing and percussionist were the night's highlight. The band was really appreciative of the Atlanta love. I was so delighted at the crowds response to Corinne and Gina. The only downer is that I miss the horns from the albums. Live horns would have made this concert a 6 out of 5!

My husband and I are both passionate lovers of music, especially jazz, and live performances. SOS has been a favorite of mine for many years and my husband has become a fan listening to my cds over the years. This was one of the best concert experiences we've ever had, bar none. We sang, danced, and experienced a sort of SOS "high" along with all the other appreciative fans in the packed venue --quite a party. We truly appreciated these rich, ultra cool new arrangements of the familiar hits we've been listening to for years (some are on the new Private View cd along with new songs too) sounding so fresh and exciting while remaining recognizable, singable and engaging as always -- no small feat!! Thank You SOS! Best money we've spent on a show in a loooong time!

I was very much looking forward to seeing this concert. We have waited several years for SOS to come back to the US. Corinne, an excellent entertainer, has so much quality material to choose from when doing a show. It is obvious that she is tired of performing their music as recorded. Unfortunately, the show was filled with either remixes of SOS songs or material from other artists. As she stated in an interview before the show, you probably won't recognize some of our songs. That is sad that she no longer performs the songs in the format that made her famous. There are many entertainers, much older than Corinne, that have no problem singing what the fans want to hear. In addition, the security at the show was ridiculously over the top. No video, no flash and people weren't allowed to leave their seats to take a picture. I asked if I could bring a flower to the stage and I was told ''absolutely not." I attend many concerts each year and this one was without a doubt my biggest disappointment.

I purchased seat numbers 59 and 60 needless to say that's not where my guest and I sat. That was really disappointing. Seating option was not good. I was go see Swing Out Sister again but not at this venue.

I have been waiting 27 years to see Swing Out Sister. They didn't play for as long as I had hoped, but the show was fantastic!!! Very tight band. Corinne sounds great. The vibe was very cool and the crowd was great. If you are a Swing Out Sister fan - DON'T MISS THIS SHOW. Corinne also signed and took photos with fans after the show. Fun for ages 8-80 (as Sheldon would say). Please come back soon Corinne.

I wasn't as famaliar with the band as my husband was so I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. They put on a great show and from what I understand it has been a long time since they were in Atlanta. Great show!! We will want to go and see them the next time they come across the pond.

Swing Out Sister's jazzy Brit pop reminded me how much I LOVE their music. They performed a great selection of songs from all albums, and recast a few with new instruments and beats. And their love for performing for the crowd shined through. Very personable group. The crowd represented a great cross section of Atlanta... Variety Playhouse was great and convenient for me, but hope SOS can experience Chastain Amphitheater sometime in the future. ;-)
