Calgary Stampede Rodeo

Calgary Stampede/Rodeo was terrific! Definitely worth the long drive! -The kids are already asking if we can go back again next year! -We were thankful for seats that were covered (even though they were higher up) because the sun is very intense! We were in section 515 and had a great view of the whole rodeo experience! Highly recommend.

Rodeo and chuck wagon races were unique and terrific. Eat elsewhere. Take the train.

Found out that I would be ending my Canadian Rockies vacation in Calgary during the Stampede so I ordered tickets to my first rodeo. So glad I did! They put on a great show that took up most of the afternoon. The weather was warm and clear so my upper grandstand seats were cool and thankfully out of the sun. I am including below just one of many pictures I took of multiple events, including bull riding, barrel racing and calf roping. The rodeo also featured a relay horse race and dancing by Native Americans and a big opening with lots of riders and fireworks. The rodeo was only part of a much larger event with many free events and also rides and lots of food--sort of like a very large state fair. Rodeo tickets included admission to the rest of the Stampede grounds so they were a terrific bargain.

Wonderfully prepared and trained help. You are using mostly young people and they are doing a tremendously terrific job. Lots of help on hand . Excellent rodeo, fast moving and organized events , good job.

My second year at the Stampede and I completely understand why folks come back time and again. It's unbelievable entertainment!

We arrived in Calgary on Thursday July 5,2012. Our sister from St Albert invited us to the Sneak Peak Trans Alta show.The entertainment was super as well as the concert and fireworks . Friday we attended the Rodeo and the GMC Rangeland Derby. The city comes to life and it is very easy getting into the festive mood of the 100th year of the Calgary Stampede. The Chuck-wagon races are a must see!

Very well produced. Entertaining. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I work for company in motorposrts industry that conducts many large events during the year - so I have very good frame of reference. My first time to this kind of event. Was very pleased with the entire experinece overall. My only real suggestion is - directions, location and parking information on website and ticket mailing for out of towners could be better. There was not much - and more would have been usefull.

The Calgary Stampede was so much fun! Combine a State Fair with a Rodeo and all the events that go with it. The people of Calgary are soooooo nice! I felt safe in the city even at night walking back to our hotel. I would highly recommend this event. Once in a lifetime... for your Bucket List!

We loved seeing the best of best win their $100,000 in each event.

Volunteers and employees very friendly and helpful. Had a great experience. Unfortunatley, all rodeos in future will seem small.

This is my second time going (I went a couple of years ago and was turned on since) and this was definetly better. The Finals is when you get to see the best of the best compete for the title. Good show

If you decide to go to the Stampede in 2012, go to the evening show. We walked around the fairgrounds, went into the Market, ate some fried stuff, and went to the Rodeo, which was entertaining, but people who attended the Show in the evenings said it was unforgettable - "like being at the opening ceremonies at an Olympics". Oh well, next time.

I thought I was going to the rodeo, but the seats I had were horrific. Calgary Stampede should be embarassed for charging people money to look at a parking lot of trailers.

Awesome like always!!!! We go to the rodeo every year and again we were not disappointed. Non stop action and the main bull fighter was so good, very funny and entertaining. Love it!

I attended my first ever Calgary Stampede and it was lots of fun. I would definitely go back in the future.

Attending the Rodeo is an annual event for me. I was a bit worried about the weather, but it cleared up and all was well.

Great rodeo with non-stop action. Cowboys and girls, clowns, announcers and stock were first class. If you like rodeos, this is a must see. Food and drinks inside the stadium though, were really limited (especially food). Hardly any selection and nothing fresh at all.

We had a fabulous time at the rodeo. It was really fun. It had been really raining, so was wet and muddy. The workers made sure it was safe for the contestants. The announcers made everything so interesting. They explained the events and kept everything moving. The clown was quite entertaining. If there was a stop in the action, he would entertain us all. Seats were good. All was great!

I'd never been to a rodeo before, but I'd seen them on TV and I didn't think it would be much fun. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The announcers were lively and entertaining, the competitors were top-notch, and the atmosphere was electric. If you're going to go to a rodeo, go to the Calgary Stampede. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely worth the money. The athletes were all at the top of their game. The seats afforded an excellent view and were out of the hot sun. The show production was top notch moving through all the events quickly. MC was informative and rodeo clown flint is awesome! Well done! Would be happy to see more Alberta s women competing in the barrel racing.

Very organized and the grandstand show is one of a kind. Great variety and loved it!

we attended the eve show/chucks for the 8th time, and enjoyed the experience. we also attended the afternoon rodeo for the 8th time and were not disappointed/it was great!

We had tickets for first day including rodeo show. Stampede ground very impressive, lots to see and thankfully some cool shaded areas as weather was scorching hot. Rodeo show was much better than anticipated with several different categories taking place. Tip..book middle or top tier to ensure shade. We had 2nd row level 5 and was just going into shade when show started.

Calgary Stampede is an experience. Very exciting and different. Had a great time

There was no team roping, really missed that event.

Loved every bit of it! Well done! Well choreographed and even idle minutes were filled with snippets of information of interest. Worst part was seat pirates who occupied our seats when we arrived. Disconcerting! They just moved to other nearby seats until actual ticket holders arrived. Usher said it is common practice and they just look the other way. If you have no shame buy the cheap tickets to get in and find empty seats in the sections where fools like me paid full price for my tickets!

It was a great experience. The extreme rain spoilt the evening, as we were then unable to see the completion of the wagon racing heats. The evening show did continue eventually and the firework show was spectacular. The rodeo the next day was exciting. Pay attention to seats chosen as the vendor does not give good advice. The higher seats are well suited to watching events that use the full track. Lower seats more suited to events held only in the arena. If the rain is heavy having seats undercover is irrelevant as the show may be postponed!

Everything about Calgary contributed to an excellent experience. The Stampede, the clean city, the friendly people, the excellent taxi drivers.

The morning started out with a deluge of rain, as the starting time became closer the rain subsided and stopped by 1:30 PM. Rodeo ring was very muddy but the animals and cowboys did their best to show why the Calgary Stampede is the Greatest Show on Earth

It is a great event. Great shows. It is not anly Rodeo, it is also " Cutting" "Dogshow" Shepaerd Dog..........

This is a great venue for all ages. Rides, music, food and amazing feats by cowboys and cowgirls.

The afternoon session on Sunday was awesome. Weather was a bit warm but luckily our seats were in the shade.

The whole town is into the Calgary Stampede. The city, hotels and the people are all there to help you have a great time and some pancakes. The Stampede has all the food , and other entertainment you could ask for. This events include a parade, top cowboys and other events that makes this a outstanding Rodeo. I would recommend for all and would also recommend that you make reservations well in advance. So , Bring your hat and boots, and prepare to have fun

As foreign visitors it was so much fun. The entertainment before the rodeo and during the pause was excellent.

What a great time! I knew going to the Calgary Stampede was going to be fun BUT, I had NO IDEA how much fun it was going to be! I'll be back!

The Calgary Stampede was on my bucket list for many years. I finally made it and it was by far worth the wait. I attended the evening show with the chuckwagon races, great stage show following the races and a terrific fireworks show. The afternoon rodeo was my favorite and we were all cowboys enjoying the rodeo event. You will need at a minimum 2 days to see everything at the Stampede

So much fun....for everyone....grateful to check this off on my bucket list! Definitely go to the rodeo if you are going to the Stampede.

My family and I had a great time at our first Calgary Stampede! Staff were knowledgeable and courteous and made the experience that much better. We came prepared for the rain so it really wasn't a factor. Overall we had an extremely memorable time and it was one of the highlights of our vacations in the Rockies!

If you like rodeos, this is the one. It certainly is well run.

The competitions were so much fun, and there were a good variety of activities.

It was great! So exciting and they keep things moving, so there's action most of the time. We brought friends this year, we enjoyed it so much! Highly recommend that everyone attend at least once in their lifetime.

I loved attending this rodeo. Constant action, friendly atmosphere, clean venue, and excellent rodeo events with world champions competing.

Not as good as previous years. A lot fewer cowboys and cowgirls participating. No longer the greatest outdoor show.

Rodeo was well organized with excellent commentary, explanation and performances by the First Nations, and several stampede bands. An unforgettable experience and wonderful show. But more show and event than typical rodeo.

Even if the fair included in the event isn't the most interesting part of the festival, the rodeo show is really worth the travel. You sit for 3 hours and attend 6-7 different kinds of competition : on horses, on bulls, with or without saddle, special young people, etc... And there are several stages with different country music concerts all day long, a really nice day to spend in cow-boy's world !

We have heard about the Calgary Stampede for decades and finally went in July 2015. These observations will help others maximize the experience. 1. The Stampede is like a county fair on steroids. It has rides, games, carnival food, animals, booths demonstrating products and cooking etc. a number of small venue shows and of course the big shows - rodeo and evening program. We did it all. 2. Buy your tickets well in advance. We bought our tickets in January, 6 months before the event and by then a lot of the best seats were already gone. 3. For the rodeo, pick these seats. There is a giant grandstand outside of the track and a smaller grandstand inside the track. Try to get seats on the inner grandstand for the best view of the rodeo action. The giant grandstand is set further back from the action and there is a high raised stage and fence blocking the view of the rodeo. Also, they sell stand up tickets and all those people stand next to the stage further blocking the view. We bought high priced seats in row 2, low in the giant grandstand. We should have bought seats higher up so that we could better see over the stage and standing people even though we would have been further away. 4. Timing: If you are just going to the rodeo, plan to arrive at least an hour before the start at 1 PM because traffic crawls along and you might need to spend 30 minutes idling in traffic to get to the close in parking. We parked in a private lot a bit further out and walked. 5. Where to enter: The Rodeo is on the South side of the area so it is best to park on the South side and enter there. We studied the information carefully and couldn't tell that there was a South entrance, but there is. If you enter from the North, it is a long slow walk through endless game, food and product booths to get to the stadium.

The Calgary Stampede was well prepared! Everyone knew exactly what to do! Perfect preparation and hard work went into this! Tons of smiles and friendliness was handed out for free. This event will not be forgotten by my two boys and us! We will definitely mark this event as a must do on our list when we have holiday in Canada! I will suggest this event to anyone visiting Canada and Calgary surrounds.

We visited the Calgary Stampede from Atlanta, Ga. on the last day. The midway with all the food stops, rides, exhibitions and the rodeo were wonderful. I can see why the citizens of Calgary and Canada take so much pride on this yearly event. Plenty of staff support to guide us around the maze of activities. We especially liked the agriculture building with all the animals and of course the rodeo.

Had never seen a rodeo in person...watched only a little on TV. The announcer did a great job of educating the crowd without delaying or distracting from the events and even in a little rain the rodeo was a blast. Walked away with plenty of respect for those cowboys and cowgirls.

Awesome show worth every cent. Will go back again. The Cowboys were amazing. Great atmosphere.

Not quite knowing what to expect, we were delighted, educated and thoroughly entertained by the skill of the participants in the ten different events.

An unbelievable and unforgettable event from arriving at Stampede Park to leaving

Took my kids to see their first rodeo at the world's largest rodeo. Enjoyed the events, midway, and carni food. Petting zoo was the kids favorites. Plus watching horses jumping high in the air trying to unseat the cowboys!

We saw a great show with outstanding livestock and outstanding contestants.

The Calagary Stampede is a nine day sensory-blowing combination of world-class concerts (eg. Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Katy Perry, etc.), a midway of rides that dwarf any state fair, evening performances that rival any shows in Las Vegas, Native American dance exhibitions, chuck wagon races each evening, and of course the biggest, best, and most prestigious rodeo in the world. This should be on everyone's "bucket list"!

We went to the Stampeded on Monday July 11th. I rained down buckets before the rodeo!!! We were under the covered part of the grandstand. The sun came out and it was a nice Canadian day. We stayed in Canmore because most of the rooms were taken in Calgary. So book early if you can. Another thing to consider is getting standing room tickets. We got them for the chuckwagon races and went to the 7th level and could see the whole track. The show after the races wasn't quite something that I would go to again.

The Calgary Stampede brings the best of the best in the world of rodeo to compete for big money prizes. We attended the afternoon session of the fourth day, which lasted about 3 hours. The witty banter between the announcer and rodeo clown kept things moving in between riders of the different events; bareback, barrel races, bronco, and of course, bull riding. In addition to the rodeo, we watched some of the Stock Dog sheep herding trials in the Saddledome. All the announcers did a great job of explaining to us newbies what was happening in the ring for each contestant. Calgary is a beautiful, clean, kid-friendly city with a fantastic public transit system. We attended the Stampede Parade and a Pancake Breakfast as well as the rodeo.

Been to a lot of Rodeos and this one tops them all. Get seats early and prepare for any weather. Was sunny and hot when I went.

We were there for the last weekend, and enjoyed all the events. Dislike is we had seats in Section 209 row AA, the front row on the back tier. This meant there was no one directly in front of us - more legroom. The problem is people are using the walkway which is not a problem , it `s just they use it even when the events are going, and some of the drink/ eat vendors would also do the same actions. Some lowered themselves when the events were taking place. The areas outside the main arena get really busy with long queues for food vendors. As with all these types of events the prices are a lot more, than in town. Suggest eating before getting to event . You can take drinks inside arena. You will need them if you experience the weather we did > 35`C. Still worth making the effort to go. The bull bronco is really good to watch.

As a long-time lover of the rodeo I was thrilled to get tickets to take a visitor from Germany to this year's event. She did not know what to expect so it was good to see it through her eyes. We had a great time and my guest thought the whole event was spectacular. Expensive tickets would be my only comment, well, and maybe the $9 beer.

Rodeo was awesome and it is a great experience for entire family

The grandstand show was full of spectacular fireworks, musical numbers, and top notch entertainment and surprises. Magic, comedy, music, it had it all and for all ages! One of the best shows anywhere! Rodeo was also awesome with talented cowboys from all over the US and Canada. We only wished we would've seen more of the clowns and bull riding. Also, had a blast with the BMX bike shows on the midway and the Canine Stars dog show was great as well. We did it all and loved it!

The rodeo was fun to watch . The chuckwagon races were great. The final stage show was truly a spectacular event .They went all out for the 50th anniversay. Loved it.

The Calgary Stampede was great, very exciting to watch. Definitely get tickets for the rodeo and the evening show. We had two days there. Really easy Stampede bus transport put on as extra throughout as well.

This was the first time we joined this Stampede. It s a amazing and interesting. We enjoyed so much.

We enjoyed the rodeo more than we thought we would. The evening grandstand show was outstanding and lives up to the building up the greatest outdoor show on earth. The kids are 10 and 13 came out saying that was the best thing they ever saw.

It was like reliving experiences from 100 years ago. One of the best rodeos ever. Great professional competitors. A must have experience.

Even though the afternoon started out with rain, the rodeo and evening show were great. The grandstand show was out of this world fantastic. Want to come back for it all again!!

Seats were on the first row and it didn't include any covering from the sun. This was noted during seat selection - bring sunscreen. 75 deg. sounds cool but we cooked. The seats were par with the event but legroom was really tight for my 6' frame.

We bought tickets to the rodeo and the wagon races. Totally worth the money. If you skip those events it is just another state fair.

The Stampede is a must see rodeo. The entire event is memorable. The setting the atmosphere the crowd the history it is all well worth the trip.

Visited the stampede one evening and one afternoon. The evening ticket purchased allows you into all areas except the grandstand unless that s what you ve paid for My gripe is I queued for the Nashville tent and when I got to the front I was asked for ID. I am 60! I was told that it is the law in Canada to provide ID where alcohol is sold. I didn t have my ID and had to leave. I was told this was advised on my ticket from ticketmaster, yet I saw nothing on the ticket to say this Furthermore I had been in Canada for a week and had never been asked for ID when ordering an alcoholic drink Perhaps you would look into this

Excellent time at the stampede far exceeded what I expected and would recommend to friends and family

This was our first experience going to a rodeo. My family loved it! What a great experience! My kids loved watching the bull riding and the bareback riding. The announcers and music made the experience fun as well.

The rodeo was great to watch even though we were in seats far from the arena we could still see everything & the big screens helped with any close-ups we wanted to see.

Spent 3 days at the stampede including the evening chuckwagon races and the afternoon rodeo. Lots of people having a good time. The rodeo had top caliber contestants and the events moved right along. The evening chuckwagon races go on a little too long (9 races) and unfortunately for us it started raining near the end of the races and continued during the show. Even so we enjoyed the show and fireworks. One warning is to buy your food before entering the grandstand - it's much better with more choices on the midway. Also the Nashville pavilion was worth visiting as it had great country music and can hold a big crowd. Liked everything about the Stampede and the city of Calgary.

The Stampede Rodeo was an exciting event. We enjoyed the electric atmosphere. If possible I would go back every year!

The day time rodeos were well worth it, the nightly Chuck wagon races were disappointing, you can only see the start of the race and the last turn and finish, the rest of the race is hidden by the grandstand in the infield.

Showdown Sunday is simply the best of the 10 days of the Rodeo. The format is different, with 10 finalists competing for four spots in the final. In essence, it is two rodeos in one. The intensity is high and the action in superb.

I had a fantastic time at the rodeo and the evening show was amazing. I highly recommend the event to anyone that enjoys rodeo.

Professional rodeo guys and professionally managed. Moves right along and they give good explanations of what s happened, especially with fouls and "no time counted".

Rodeo Fans the Calgary Stampede is a must! The day rodeo was quite warm, but we had club seating in the air condition with wait staff. The night ChuckWagon racing are awesome!

Seats were the best and the event was as advertised -- the Greatest Outdoor show in the world. The quality and variety of riders and other performers was excellent. Non-stop action. The announcers kept you educated on what you were seeing and how scores were calculated -- made even a novice watcher well informed of what they were seeing

Rodeo was excellent! From the beginning of the parade and the Star Spangled Banner through the last moment of the rodeo itself. Then just as it ended that weather changed and the skies opened up at the hail began. Then the weather cleared up and the Stampede began again.

Had a great time, definitely going back next year. Rodeo clown was hilarious. It was my first time seeing the wild pony event and loved it.

My husband and I had a great time at the rodeo. There is always something going on and the entertainment is wonderful. The MC and "rodeo clown" are hilarious together and had us laughing the entire time. The energy throughout the entire show was great.

Great time at the Stampede. The whole city of Calgary gets into the rodeo spirit. Parade is fantastic and the Chuck Wagon races are wonderful.

Quite the experience. If you like rodeo, fairs, and carnival you'll definitely like this. The rodeo was great and is one of the largest (richest) in north America. Calgary is a very nice city with plenty to do and see. A plus was the public transportation (the train) which allowed us to park the car at our hotel, and do 4 days and nights at the rodeo without moving the car. All in all a great experience. It was very warm during the day, but nice at night.

Great event! Definitely worth the effort to get tickets.
