This was our third year at Gears &Guitars. Really appreciate the awesome bands from my college years that are coming in and rocking Winston-Salem! This year the rain came - and a lot of it - but the shows were good. Matthew Sweet was very good and a rare treat. Soul Asylum was honestly the best of the night. These guys are top notch and really put it out for the show. Blues Traveler was good and played all the songs you d want to hear - but - John Popper was either fighting a cold or he s loosing his voice. Broke up a lot on the really fast lines and struggled with the higher notes. Hope he feels better! All in all, we enjoyed the night. Appreciate the good beverages and foods available, too. Bring back the popcorn guys! Looking forward to seeing the 2019 lineup!

This was my first Blues Traveler show. Yes, I'm a little late to the party! What an amazing show it was. The performance was straight-up, no frills Blues Traveler with more over-the-top harmonica and good grooves than I could have imagined. Red Rocks is an amazing place to see any band but it was particularly kind to these guys. 4th of July fireworks going off in the Denver backdrop was a perfect topping to the performance. I will do this show again next year and the next........

My friends and I really went to just hang at Red Rocks (which is always awesome) and see the fire works throughout Denver. We're not huge Blues Traveler fans. They had a good performance - wasn't annoyed as much as I was the last time I saw them - seems like all their songs sound the same and the harmonica just starts to get annoying. But they were good. However, Black Joe Lewis was fantastic! High energy, tight band, funky, rockin', and for me stole the evening. And yes, the fire work displays throughout the Denver area were cool to see too.

Great show, much better than expected. It opened with a local comedian who was pretty funny but not nearly as hilarious as was Lewis Black. I'm still laughing at his compassionate-political-acerbic-cynical style of humor. The funniest of that kind since the dear departed George Carlin. Next was a new band from Austin Texas where so many seem to come from, called Black Joe Louis and the Honeybears. Weird name but they got the crowd up and dancing. Think of a young James Brown singing with the Blues Brothers backup band. After a long wait Blues Traveler came on and seriously rocked the place. John Popper sounded fantastic both vocally and with his high pitched harmonica wizadry. The band was really tight last night and was introduced by the drummer's 10-year old daughter after she sang "God bless America." This was their 18th annual Independence Day appearance at the best venue on the planet, Red Rocks, and I definitely will be at the 19th!

Despite a cold evening for July and the threat of rain, the show made for an excellent way to spend the 4th of July. Although I rollled my eyes at a comedian opening a show for a band at Red Rocks, Lewis Black was off the wall and very funny. Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears then took the stage and had people moving their feet as it was like James Brown had risen from dead (he is dead, right?). Their horn section was especially impressive as they belted out song after song. For the headliner, Blues Traveler took the stage and did what thay do best - jam band electricity with songs going all over the place. Startting with one song, switching to another mid chorus, starting a third, and tying it back to the original without missing a beat. John's harmonica is still a common thread that links it all together. A hint to the newcomers to this show - getting a seat up front is not necessarily a plus at this show. If you sit up higher (about row 40 and above), you can see dozens of fireworks shows going off all throughout the city as you listen to the music. Another memorable 4th of July - thanks.

I had fun with my friends, but even the songs that I knew I didn't feel like I could sing along to. Lewis Black was funny but it was hard to continually pay enough attention to get everything because of everything going on in the venue. It was my first Red Rocks show, though, so that was awesome!

Setting the scene - we headed out just before the torrential rains started. We drove in rain that was so thick we had to almost stop on the highway. Got to Red Rocks and the rain stopped - for the most part. Went in and saw both opening comedians - some of the 'content' was a little questionable for our 12 year old son - but what do ya do. Then we saw the Black Joe Lewis - these guys are good! We enjoyed their unique flavor of rock. They played a song with Popper and gave a good hour and a half. Time for the Big Boys - BLUES TRAVELER The band was introduced by the drummers 10year old daughter. She got a standing ovation and Did one helluva job in front of a pretty packed venue. These guys harkened back to the early days with some of their best jams. We were also privy to see some amazing fireworks over the city. We also got to hear DJ Logic rip off some sweet scratchin!!! There was another guest who wore some seriously purple pants - not sure who he was. He did stand in the row in front of us for a bit - we were like that's the purple pants guy... We sure got our moneys worth with this one. Can't wait for next year. THANK YOU BLUES TRAVELER!

From the opening comedy act all the way to the time we walked out of Red Rocks it was a special event. My wife and I had a very good time. The music was phenominal Black Lewis and the Honey Bears got it rocking right off the bat, that band is tight. People were up and dancing and getting into the music. That made it nice for me. When John Popper came out and jammed with them was one of the highlights. By the time Blues Traveler came out it was cleared of clouds and the moon had risen a little. I was ready for some good music and they did not disappoint me. These guys are musicians. They PLAYED!!!!!!!! Oh man did they play. As the old folks say they soothed my soul. I have been wanting to make this concert for a long time, something always came up. I finally got to see it.

Lewis Black was a good warm up...Joe Black Lewis and the Honeybears were awesome (need to see them again in a club) and Blues traveler did the most appropriate Michael Jackson tribute I have seen yet. I finally got to a concert at Red Rocks after living in CO for 9 years and it did not disappoint! The headliners, Blues Traveler, are the best jam band I have seen live - they were awesome! Even better there were three openong acts and they were all great! Especially Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears - they are a blast to listen to! My teen girls actually liked them better than the headliners. We all had a great night - thank goodness the weather held!

I wish I could give a better review but I couldn't hear the band because no one would stop talking. I was surrounded by what looked like a bunch of professional adults out for an evening of music but instead I was surrounded by a bunch of selfie taking non stop talking rookie concert-goers. From what I did hear of the band they were fantastic John popper still has it. I urge all of you fans who were there Friday night, next time you get an annual night out go to a restaurant.

The Blues Traveler performance was ON POINT! The band sounded GREAT even though the acoustics were terrible. BT had a ton of energy and really connected with the audience. Since it was a small, standing room only venue, I found it difficult to stand from when the doors opened at 7 until they came on stage, after 9. The performance was over 2 hours. Standing is not as easy as it was 30 years ago. TWO THUMBS UP! Way to go BT! John Popper was amazing!!!! "The Hook" brought me back!!!

I came to this show because I love Blues Traveler. I had never been nor heard about The Queen. It was a great experience. We went to the preshow VIP Party and had a good time. I also ended up upgrading the day before to balcony seats. When we got to the pre show party Aaron Salsbury 1 of the people who was working with the Queen (he was premium seats supervisor from the Fillmore) came up to us and asked if we had upgraded. I said we had so he checked us in and when the time came took us up to our seats. He answered any questions we had and showed us our bathrooms and other pertainit information. He was great as were all the other staff people. I would definitely go back.

Very good show. Opening act "LOS COLONES," were excellent. They're a local band, not sure if they're on the tour, but if they are, they're worth the price of the ticket. Blues Traveler were very good as well. The band was tight and interacted with the crowd in an enthusiastic and sincere manner. Those standing in front of the stage could have been @ Woodstock (yes, I'm that old). Had not heard from these guys in quite a while and was glad to hear John Popper's voice as strong and clear as I remembered. Not sure if this is how the tour is, but this show was more of a "jam band set" than I had expected. Solos seemed a bit long and band members and crew wandering onto and off the stage were a distraction. Ryman was great as always. I'd do it again.

This was a great concert by Blues Traveler. We also really enjoyed the opening band, The Colognes, which we had never heard before and were impressed with them. Never heard of Los Colognes before night of the show. They were a great jam band--mix of Dire Straits, Allman Bro's light, and occasional Pink Floyd. Would love to see them again. Blues Traveler worked hard and played great. For two hours, they doled out the hits, broke out some interesting covers, and managed to play some new music, too. They were by turns a blues band, a jam band, and just a great house band. They engaged the crowd even after the show. Handed out drum sticks, copies of the setlist, harmonicas, and stayed to shake hands with the crowd on the floor. Really an awesome show at reasonable price. One word on the venue, 20MonroeLive in Grand Rapids is a nice club. Great place to see a show where you can relax and actually see the stage. One note of caution on an otherwise great night. If you sit in the upper Mezzanine, avoid the sitting by the stair cases. they create a bit of obstructed view if you're behind them AND the crowd is always walking in front of you to get refills/food. Distracting. If we went back again, I'd sit a few rows up or pay a bit more for seats along the side. This is just a nitpick...it really was a great experience and date night for my wife and I.

Very disappointed with Blues Travelers performance. John Popper was so busy drinking and smoking on and off stage that he hardly performed any music at all. We heard more from the bass player and drummer than anyone else. His stage runner was bringing out 6 red solo cups at a time and couldn t keep up with John Popper s drinking. Won t pay to see them again.

Disappointing concert. Four songs in and Popper takes a cigarette break. Forced to hear an extended bass jam. Few more songs, another cigarette and a keyboard solo. Next cigarette break brings us a drum solo. Blues Traveler do not have Entwistle or Bonham. No one wants these solos. Sing your songs and lets go home.

Can't say enough good things about the venue. I thought the sound was great, the layout was awesome. It was a sold out show and it was not overcrowded. On to the band, it shows that they have been at this for 30 years. The song selection was horrible, playing a crowd favorite to get the energy up and then switching to a new song that won't be released until June for example. John Popper and Chan Kinchla kept walking off stage during the middle of songs leaving a drummer, bassist and keyboard to jam 4 or 5 times. I saw a lot of Blues Traveler shows back in the day and this was a poor showing.

I've been to Vegas 6 times and have seen almost every show you would see. I've also checked out concerts there and nothing beats the intimacy of being at House of Blues with a great band like Blues Traveler. They are my husband's fave band and my style is more towards U2 still the show was amazing. We stood right by the stage and weren't squished like sardines, were able to meet new friends, the band was energetic and spread that enthusiasm despite lead singer John Popper battling a bad cold. Blues Traveler has always great songs and used to have great stage performances. I know it was their 30th band anniversary, but John Popper needed to stop every 1 to 2 songs to sit down on a chair behind the stage to smoke and drink. That's ok a couple of times, but all the time is too much. They also started the concert almost 3 hours late! There was a pregnant friend that had to leave the place in the third song because of the loooooong wait. Revolution Live sound quality could be much better. I couldn't hear the bass, for example. Overall we did not have a great experience in this last concert.

Blues Traveler was their usual tight, jamming self, but the entire experience was enhanced by the Red Rocks amphitheater, and the July 4th fireworks going off behind the stage, in the valley. We skipped Toad the Wet Sprocket (not a fan) but saw Matisyahu. He was great. As the sun went down Blues Traveler came on and played a great set highlighted by "No Woman, No Cry" accompanied by Matisyahu, and a cover of Radiohead's "Creep". After a brief break (rare at BT shows) the boys came out and played their entire second album, Travelers and Thieves, from start to finish with "Mountain Cry" as the encore. Many of these songs have not been played in nearly 20 years - I've seen the band at least 25 times since 1991 and never heard them play many of these tunes, so that was special. All in all a truly memorable and remarkable experience!

Since my 15 year-old son is a wonderful musician, I have tried to expose him to several types of music. On April 23, we saw Blues Traveler with thier amazing frontman, John Popper. The show was at Fort Lauderdale's intimate venue, The Culture Room. The music legend and harmonica vituoso took the stage without introduction and seemed larger than life. It was clear that the band loved performing together and thier festival-like personalities made the evening enjoyable. They were very responsive to the fans oftten throwing out harmonicas, drumsticks, set lists, picks and other memorabilia. John even sang happy birthday to a young lady in the crowd. Despite the couple of drunks that were escorted out by security and the strong herbal aroma, it was a wonderful moment with some great crowd pleasing musicians.

Took my wife to see BT last night at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. Her first time to see these guys, and my first time since NYE at MSG 1996. Was pleasantly surprised that they had not turned their amps up to 11. Played a lot of the old favorites, but one thing about this band, nothing is off limits. Heard renditions of the Devil went down to Georgia, and some Cheap Trick as well. Great band, lots of fun!!

I am a huge BT fan. I always make it a point to see their shows when they come to town. Lately, it's been twice a year in Fort Lauderdale!!! I was a little disappointed to see them add 3 cover songs into the show when they have so many better songs of their own. The songs were, Devil Went Down To Georgia (CDB), Love Is What I Got (Sublime), and I Want You To Want Me (Cheap Trick). I would have rather here them play any of these BT songs: Crash Burn, Canadian Rose, Mountains Win Again, Mountain Cry, Gina, Droppin' Some NTC, Crystal Flame, Stand, All in the Groove.

Popper and the band sounded awesome. Seats were great and the setting was very comfortable. The whole band really played to the crowd. My wife, who never really listened to them before walked away a fan. We had a great time. I really wish I'd brought my video camera because all recording devices were actually allowed (video, audio, flash cameras).

These guys rocked the house! They played a mixture of classic hits from "Four" as well some new songs. They still sound great and really put on a show. John Popper took time to acknowledge the local crowd and they even took time to sign a few autographs during & after the show. The venue (Ballroom @ Snoqualmie Casino) was intimate and the acoustics were great (a problem in past venues).

The evening started with 2 comedians, rated fair. Then the night got better with the opening act of Lewis Black. They were amazing and sounded great. I became a fan after their performance. Blue Traveler ended the night and couldn't be better. I really didn't know of their music, but after I am became a true fan. Couldn't have asked for a better place to see a live concert. The red rock amphitheater was beautiful scenery and the weather was great.

I am not a big BT fan but Popper was amazing and you can't beat Red Rocks as far as venues go. Apparently BT has been doing this show at Red Rocks on the 4th of July for quite some time. If you haven't seen BT and want to see em I recommend coming next year to Red Rocks.

This was my first time at Bailey Park. Interesting setup, though seems poorly designed for a smaller, open air venue. The sound was good . There was plenty of free parking nearby. There were beer/alcohol tents right along side the crowd, although, food/concessions were only available by crossing a road to some food trucks. Again, just an oddly designed setup. Never have been a Matthew Sweet fan, so didn't care much for seeing them live. Soul Asylum was ok. Blues Traveler was amazing! He's still putting everything into his music, lots of feel to it. Despite getting rained on for a bit, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would go see another show at Bailey Park

My first time attending the event - will not be my last. Well managed and choreographed event. Though the rain may have kept some people at home, it seemed well attended. Blues Traveler ROCKED!!!

I've never been to the venue before, but it might be my fave now. A little worn and smelly, but great, old architecture and friendly staff. Then the bands came on! Los Colognes were fantastic! And Blues Traveler was amazing! Such great energy! Loved it!

Having been Blues Traveler fans for many years, we were excited to see this show. What a mistake. It was self-indulgent and boring. 15 minute bass solo when John Popper was off stage doing whatever (he seemed kinda wasted so I can guess). We didn't want to hear album cuts, but some songs we recognized would have been nice. They are all gifted musicians but it felt like one long jam session without a coherent set list. I'm glad we only paid $30 for each ticket. We left after an hour and 15 minutes along with a lot of other people. There was a long wait to get down the stairs and outside. It was clear that our opinion was shared by a lot of other attendees. I know others enjoyed themselves and that's great for them. But for us it was a waste of time.

A night of firsts. Long time Blues Travelers fan got to finally see them at an awesome venue. Although Popper was battling a cold he was amazing. His hoarseness lent to the sound. The venue was intimate without feeling cramped. It was a packed house which was good to see after 30+ years and in light of recent events. The fact it was 15 minutes from my house made it more enjoyable. Of course the fact we now have to pay for parking ($13) sucks, but that didn't take too much away from a great night.

How many vape breaks does a singer need in a show. In this show it was way to many. Filing time with too many instrurmental solos, that were uninspiried. After doing this for 30 years you would think they could put a tight show on in their sleep When they actually performed the show was very good. The new songs they played were great.

Popper kept leaving the stage. I've never seen and it was strange. Also the his vocal range wasn't strong. I don't think the show was mixed very well either. I don't know, after 30 years you think they put on a better effort for their show.

Minneapolis fall 2017, great show! Poppers voice was so clean and perfect, he really has saved it to make the show more fun and full of energy. The long jams all lead to the harp... so many great songs, high energy and soul. Go check them out if you get the chance.

Blues Travelers were meh . I used to be a fan but not any more. Drummer Brett was awesome. Popper couldn t hit alot of the notes of his older songs. It was so sad. People started leaving about half way through. John Popper had three red solo cups and a runner that kept filling them. He went off stage to sit down too many times. Lead guitarist kept going off stage to smoke. Why can t they just be professional and play for a few hours without partying and give 100% to those of us that paid good money to see a show? I would pass on seeing them ever again.

Many songs in and they only played their new stuff. Cmon guys...you re a band from the 90s. Do you really think all your audience wants to hear is your new stuff? I get it...you need to promote the new album but mix some old songs every now and then to get the crowd going. We left early and I can t say I ve ever done that.

That was a first in our history of seeing concerts. Left before seeing the headliner act. Show listed as 7-9 pm. Opening act came and went. At 10pm, after standing for 3 hours for GA show, not including time spent waiting for the "doors to open" , we decided to leave. Shame on you blues traveler for treating your fans so poorly. We weren't the only ones who left before the performance. 2 other couples we know left 40 minutes into the show. Quite the disappointment.

I arrived a respectable amount of time after the doors opened, but late enough that the show should have gotten started after a short wait. I waited over an hour after settling in for the opening act. Following the opening act, we waited another hour and a half for Blues Traveler to take the stage. The stage was set, the fans not only got restless, but were boo-ing the band just to try to get them to come out and get on stage after having waited so long all ready. Let's just say I watched the an ENTIRE NHL hockey game at the venue on my phone while waiting for this concert to begin. If that wasn't bad enough, 2-3 songs into their performance, lead singer walks off the stage in search of a replacement beverage (there was something he disliked after his first sip necessitating a replacement even though there were 3 delivered in advance of their ever taking the stage). Guitarist retires behind the speaker for a drink and drag on his vape. 5 minutes later everyone is back on the stage to resume the show....or so one would think. Another 2-3 songs later, the whole routine repeats itself, lead singer & guitarist leave the stage again and repeat the whole debacle again ... I bought these tickets early in the year and waited months for this concert. Never again, not for this band. I was so disgusted by their lack of respect for us, their fans, I walked out! If they can't make time for fans. After performing for 30 years, you would think they would have a better appreciation for their fan base and matured past such antics.

I used to work at revolution and have seen probably over 100 shows there, so I should have known better. We stood upstairs on the right side of the cage so we could be super close to the band. While it was visually the perfect spot, it was terrible from a sound standpoint. In this position, you are standing behind the main speakers that hang above the crowd, which I'd like to think was part of the problem. Overall, the music drowned out Potter pretty hardcore, and the drums were so loud we could barely hear the guitarist jam. I'd like to think the show was great, but our standing position really killed it for us. Why didn't we move? The venue was so overly packed, there was nowhere to go, and almost no way of physically moving anywhere. The other main challenge was that Blues Traveler took FOREVER to come on stage... I mean, nearly an hour after you would have expected them too... since this is an "all standing" venue, it meant we were exhausted and sore by the time they came on stage. I'd like to see them again in a better venue, but from this experience I wouldn't be able to recommend the show to friends.

This event was advertised as starting at 7pm. The opening act started at 7:30 and played for an hour. At 10:15 we left. At that point we had been standing for over 3 hours and Blues traveler still had not come out to play.

After making the crowd stand and wait for 3 hours, John and his band wandered onto stage and began an unenthusiastic blend of harmonica solos and taking breaks to drink and smoke off to the side while the remaining band jamed?? . Total crap and I left after the 4th song.

We were behind the stage and could witness all the goings on. The stage hand was amazing. The opening band from Nashville played from 8pm until almost 9pm. The stage hand had Blues Travelers' stage equipment set and ready to go by 9:18 - really efficient guy. Popper has a briefcase with about 14 harmonicas in it and the stage hand had various drinks ready on the table as well - tea, cocktails, water and ice. The band did not take the stage until after 10 pm and the crowd was restless by then. Who do they think they are- Madonna? After every 2 songs Popper would go behind a curtain stage right where the stagehand had a cigarette lit for him - boom! It was gone in 3 puffs. Hunched over, hacking, more cocktails, then the inhaler - he must be asthmatic. The bass player is amazing, fit and carried the show. The guitar player is as overweight as Popper used to be before bypass and kept hiding behind a stack of speakers smoking weed. Popper needs to check into a hospital asap!

The venue was terrible. From the instant you arrive there was no direction. The drinks were ridiculously priced, the tickets were general admission but there weren't any spots which you could enjoy the show without being trampled or blocked by columns. Blues traveler took almost two hours after the opener to come on stage. It was horrible. We left after the third song. I think they waited for the football game going on to end before gracing us with their presence.
