Chris Botti is more than just a world-class trumpet musician. His show is an eclectic mixture of amazing jazz performances. From heart-warming violin solos that break into a Stairway to Heaven rock symphony to drum solos that rival any headbanger monologue. Chris engages the audience with humor, laughter, and floor presence, but gives away all accolades to his back up musicians that color his work. A must, must, did I say..."must?" concert of the decade.

Chris Botti's performace at L.A.'s Greek Theater was an unforgettable experience. His engaging showmanship, talent, and supporting band kept me cheering for the entire set. Opening with Ave Maria lulled the audience into a trance before slamming them with an electrifying jam session that was tempered with ballads, standards, and even classically arranged music. The surprise appearance by John Mayer singing a standard put the audience into a cheering frenzy.

I always buy tickets when he's in the area (Southern California). Such an amazing and sexy trumpet player. I just get lost in his music and appreciate every note he plays. His band is exceptional and they are truly all cherry picked to be on his tour. Breathtaking.

We went to the Chris Boti show because Renee Olstead was going to sing and we were fans of her and knew a little about Chris Boti. Well it turned that we were pleasantly surprised to be thoroughly entertained by Boti and his band. The show was fantastic from start to finish. What was the best, besides his outstanding trumpet playing, was that he connected with the audience, had wonderful guest artists and an amazing band. Loved Chris telling stories about his life and John Majors surprise appearance at the end of the show was great. The venue was great except for the stacked parking. That needs improvement. While Renee Olstead did not get too much time she is still someone to be watchng. She has a beautiful voice. Maybe someday Chris will have here sing during his show. All in all it was a great experience.

Chris Botti at the Greek was a Mesmerizing evening. His wonderful sense of humor brought laughter and smiles from the Audience throughout the evening. Chris, and all of the members of his band are talented musicians that become "one" with their instruments. I saw Chris for the first time last year at the Hollywood Bowl and was blown away. I cannot wait to see him again!

Botti is at the top of his game and getting better as are his great haircuts. If ever there was a perfomer that has a love affair with the trumpet he has perfected his craft. This was the third time I've seen Chris and he just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for always putting on such great shows!

I loved Chris Botti's show at The Greek Theater yesterday(7/9/09) where John Mayer was the surprise of the night. You could hear the ladies squee with excitement when John came out to sing "In The Wee Small Hours" for the first of two encore songs. He was great and made a big impression, coz the attendees were still exclaiming even after the show that they were impressed. Chris gave John big props saying he has a classic talent like Sting and Frank Sinatra and will have a long career. I could just see the John that Chris described e-mailing him before the show asking," Shouldn't we at least talk about the song arrangement?" I guess pros, like the ones we saw tonight, can just wing it and get it so right! Chris and company were awesome. The guest violinist, Caroline Campbell (sitting in for a wounded Lucia Macharelli) played Emanuelle and Cinema Paradiso with so much passion I almost cried. Even the mic-ing problems which caused 2 false starts did not detract from the final effect. Sy Smith, who sang several songs, such The Look Of Love and What'll I Do, was off the chart with her vocal artistry. Chris gave his incredible band of musicians lots of room to shine. Billy Kilson, who is my personal-favorite drummer, gave an unbelievable solo that can only be described as impossible. But he made it so! Of course, Chris was the star of the night with his beautiful trumpeting the his unique instrument, the Martin Committee 1939, which he treasures and plays with the greatest of chops. The set included songs from A Thousand Kisses Deep (my favorite), Italia and some Live From Boston tracks and others. As John said you must see this concert! The night was opened by Renee Olstead who sang jazz standards and a self-penned blues tune with a voice that sounds much more mature than her 17 or 18 years. That young lady willl be around thrillling ears for many years to come.

I have always admired Chris Botti s talent, and had the unique opportunity to meet him a couple of weeks ago on Sunset Blvd while he was having sushi and saki a couple tables away from mine. I excitedly went home that night and looked to see when he would be performing next in LA. I was so happy when I discovered it was so soon at the Greek Theatre. This would be my first time to hear him live! Last night, I was blown away! His music pulled at my heart strings. I could have listened all night. Not only is his musical performance enchanting but he has a way of charming the audience with his sense of humor and beautiful speaking voice. I will definitely make an effort to hear him perform again. Hopefully, at the Fabulous Fox in St. Louis, my home town.

The evening was chilly but the sound was passionately straightforward providing a keepsake of unforgettable warmth. All you need do was close your eyes and drift away to serenity. The entire performance was evidence of grace, praise, collaboration, communication, positive emotions throughout. Most enjoyable evening spent in all my trips to the Greek over the past years. Felt as if I had gone to Italy in person for the two songs that the violinist participated in, incredible sound!

We were anxious to see Chris Botti, since he is one of our family's favorite performers, but we certainly weren't expecting the superb production these very talented musicians gave us. Chris is a very smart and talented trumpet master, as well as all of his combo and visitors. The three guests could have their own show with their talent. We saw Chris Botti and the band on Sunday 4/17/2016 in Evansville, Indiana. Every song was fabulous. Chris is such a star that he can let the individual members of the band have their moment in the starlight. He is as much a gentleman off stage as on. This was my fourth time seeing Chris Botti in concert!! He is just as amazing as ever, too!! Musicians have a knack at highlighting their particular talent,, and to most people, the thought of attending a concert where the person doesn't sing, but they play trumpet, might seem a little "boring". That was not the case with this concert! He has the unique ability of taking the "instrument" and allowing it to blend, and become an intricate part of the pieces he played! The song choices were perfect,, and his band was as talented at their instrument as he is! There was also a vocalist and she was superb!! What a great evening to spend, in music and being transported "into" the music itself!

This was an outstanding concert in so many ways...First, the setting couldn't have been better. The outdoor theater was large enough to accommodate the crowd, comfortable and small enough to still be intimate. It was a warm summer night, surrounded by tall trees and a summer sky filled with stars. Second and most importantly, the talent onstage was unbelievable. Chris Botti is a consummate entertainer, very personable, and extremely talented with an incredible range, from classical to jazz. He makes magic with his trumpet. He also surrounds himself with such a talented group of musicians, it's unbelievable. There were also some lovely guest surprises that were frosting on the cake......He is going on tour with Barbara Streisand this next year...If you get a chance to go to one of his concerts....don't miss it!!!

My wife and I have seen Chris 5 or 6 times. Had fun going to the Peabody Opera House for a show and we were especially excited to see Chris, one of our favorite performers. We were quite disappointed. The show, including the song list, jokes, stories, etc were all exactly the same as when we saw him a year ago at Powell Hall. The guest violinist and singer, Lisa Fischer, were even in the same dresses as a year ago. I would have given the show a year ago 5 stars. But we pay good money to see these shows and expect there to be at least an effort to mix it up. Another beef? Where have all of the tunes from the Best of CD gone? So many hits and all we heard were songs from Italia. We'll see him again but really expect him to mix it up and, frankly, kick it up a notch or two!

The beautifully restored Peabody Opera House is a visual delight. The concert could not have been played at a better place. I have been going to Chris Botti concerts since he first played at the St. Louis Jazz Festival at Shaw Park. This was by far the best venue acoustically. He had a good mix of music and new songs/artists. I really enjoyed the evening. He does not disappoint. He has played almost every facility..... The Touhill, The Pageant, etc.....He is friends with Joe Buck which may be why he comes here so much.

Chris and his band (featuring the inimitable Billy Childs and vocalist extraordinaire Lisa Fisher) were positively spectacular! It was an evening well-spent and it's a shame that he wasn't there for two nights instead of one! I only wish Chris would play more of his older Smooth Jazz works like "Eversince We Met", "Midnight Without You", "All the World Envy", "Regroovable" or "Lisa"; although he did play a quick 'n dirty, amped up version of "Indian Summer". All and all, this was a wonderful performance.

Will never forget this night! First fell in love with Chris Botti one night while watching his Boston show on PBS. That was amazing and I have been a fan ever since. Took my 16 year old son to the concert for his birthday, and we both just felt lucky to be there. He got goosebumps on the first song and from that point we felt like the night was magic. When he was able to sit in the third row and be inspired by the pianist, drummer, bass player, guitar player and of course the beautiful violinist and singer, well we thought how perfect the night was. Then he got to go on stage and play the drums. Incredible! I thought he would be on the phone with all his friends the minute we got back in the car, but I think the moment was still with him. Such an inspiring night, one he will never forget. Thank you Chris Botti and your team for changing the world of my teenager!

It is a delight to find an artist, a musician who is able to captivate an audience. I find Chris Botti remarkable, an artist who has the ability to stop all of my chaotic thought, delicately deliver his love and warmth by his unique craft by blowing air into a brass instrument to create a buzzing sound we call a trumpet. I was first introduced to Caroline Campbell's violin performance when she performed with Chris Botti in Phoenix, AZ The Dodge Theater a few years ago. Caroline made the violin cry and she moved me to tears. She is so expressive and confident as well as truly gifted. Lisa Fischer again another sensitive, glowing extension of a human being with a soothing voice that demands your attention. All of the amazingly talented individuals in Chris's band were astonishing and I look forward to attending another performance by Chris Botti and his band members. I have my signed cd from Chris Botti, although I am on a budget, I would have loved to have a signed cd by Caroline Campbell. I truly feel honored to be apart of Chris Botti's performance. Music is healing for me, its necessary in my life. Ticket prices were affordable especially for an individual on a budget, thank you.

I purchased tickets in row 7 to surprise my guy friend and he purchased tickets in row 10 to surprise me. We were therefore able to share this spectacular evening with two other very dear friends. Collectively we shed tears, broke into laughter, recalled past experiences, and went away optimistic about the fortunes of our lives. I saw Chris Botti in Los Angeles earlier this year. That was the most incredible experience (open air theatre) of my life. His stage presence inspires. He enjoys himself, he is proud of his band members, and he is very thoughtful of his audience. I feel even more 'connected' to Chris, knowing he was born 3 days after my first son during the Columbus Day storm, which took the roof off my parents home in Portland, Oregon.

Crystal clear trumpet tone and the southern California coast complement each other perfectly. The audience of about 1,400 at the intimate and upscale venue of Humphrey's By the Bay was treated to two hours of jazz and classical music from the hardest working trumpeter in the industry. Consisting of about half of the tracks from his live album in Boston, Botti also drew from his latest disc, Italia, and even went as far back as 2003's A Thousand Kisses Deep. From the first note of "Ave Maria," until the last note of the encore, "My Funny Valentine," Botti and his backing band showed why they play 300 shows a year. The concert featured everything from spirited banter with the crowd, mixed with a stunning vocal performance by Lisa Fischer and a virtuosic display of rhythm dexterity by drummer Billy Killson. My only complaint is that I wish I had been the 12-year-old boy who was invited onstage to sit in on drums during the encore.

This being the fourth Chris Botti concert I've seen in the last 2 years, I can honestly say I look forward to the next show. THe band was obviously tired after some travel issues getting in, but they powered through and managed to put on a good show. There is a new singer with the band since my last concert and she was amazing. you want to hear Andrea Bocelli sing Italia? Her name escapes me, but she was great and the closest resemblance you could ask for. I have to admit I am looking forward to a new studio album, I think I'm wearing out my CD's :)

I have been to many of his concerts and sets, he never disappoints. His selecton of co-performers harmonize perfectly with the music he chooses for his audience. I close my eyes and I listen to the beauty of his music. The cares and problems of the day ( OF THE WEEK!) disappear. His music sends me somewhere else, somewhere soft and wonderful. Thanks Chris for sharing your gift with us.

Have you ever been to a concert, when you are being transferred into a different dimension? If the answer is NO, you probably never saw Chris Botti AND his amazing band in action. I have been a big fan of his music for years, and have seen him in concerts several times. And every time the same thing happens - incredible sound of Chris' trumpet, his music genius (AND his band members'), and the jazz genre make such a mix of emotions, feelings, and an experience that you don't ever want to end. I don't. That's why I keep going to see him again and again. And you know what - his shows are never the same. There is always something different, new element, new surprise guest...This time it was John Mayer, singing one of F. Sinatra's classics. There was also Sy Smith singing, and Caroline Campbell on violin (in a place of injured Lucia Micarelli). And last and not least - the band members - all talented musicians - Billy Childs on piano, Billy Kilson on drums, Mark Whitfield on guitar. If you are a jazz fan - you have to see Chris Botti. If you are not a jazz fan - you got to see him too. That's another thing that's great about Botti - the ability to interest anyone, no matter what you music interests are. But that's another story...

Well, he didn't bring the house down but he got us on our feet a couple a times.... And very personally played to the audience as if he were at the Blue Note in NYC....A much smaller venue for sure...but still seem to be able to "touch" the audience.... The Back up band was equally amazing...especially the (2) Billie's...and the violinist Ms. Campbell was terrific despite troubles with the sound system...where on (2) occasions Botti stop the music and had the techies fix it...and then started again. But the Drum solo...Best I've seen...From Sandy Nelson to Phil Collins....WOW!!!

What more can I say? I wish the concert went on for another 2 hours. His band was tight and Sy Smith was excellent. She should be Chris' opening act. Showmanship of Chris and his band was also excellent.

Chris Botti is amazing! He is gorgeous, which makes the show even more wonderful. His musical talents are astounding--I so enjoyed watching him play and he really engaged with the audience. The musical guests were GREAT as well---and John Mayer showed up for one of Chris Botti's encore songs! How amazing is that!! I highly recommend seeing Chris Botti in concert and I cannot wait until he returns to Los Angeles again!

Fantastic show. Best yet. Only negative was that the Paramount Theater needs to provide a bit more leg room for the floor seats. Otherwise great show and great sound
