Awesome! Pirates of Caribbean was Execellent Perfect combination!

The music and conductor was amazing. Beautiful impromptu jazz pieces. And the brass was gorgeous!

It's something fun and different. This was my first time going and for sure I want to go again. It was a wonderful experience!

The symphony was outstanding. Was my first time inside the majestic theater, was an excelent venue. All around great night will be back many times

I was not familiar with the Barber piece but recgonized his style and harmonies right away. Excellent execution by the symphony and soloist. Poignant piece with what sounded like a struggle between bliss and unrest in the first movement; a struggle between peace and turmoil in the second; and a driving presto that was in a way, unsettling in the end. Amazing encore solo from Mr. Gilshaham. Thank you! Carmina Burana... What an outstanding coordination of talent! The product being a synergy of extraordinary power. My daughter (15 years old) and I were consumed by the music and are still getting chill bumps days later. THANK YOU San Antonio Symphony, Master Singers, Choral Society, etc etc etc for making this event possible. We will never forget it.

Best performance I've seen! What a production! Wonderful event! Well done, San Antonio Symphony!

The opening performance of the San Antonio Symphony proved that it is not only alive, but has a good, strong heartbeat. Beginning with Gil Shaham bringing a lyrical quality to Barber's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, the orchestra - especially the strings - played with a sense of accomplished discipline. The second half of the evening was given over to glorious excess with the performance of Carmina Burana, employing no less than five full choirs placed across the back of the stage and throughout the theater, with the result that one was immersed in sound and drama. Congratulations to all responsible for this wonderful evening of music - musicians, singers, soloists, and conductor Ken-David Masur. It sets the bar high for the rest of the season.

I loved every second of the performance and didn't want it to end.

this performance was truly amazing! from start to finish, the performance was captivatingly breath-taking. the conductor was passionate and engaging, and the symphony looked and sounded absolutely great! loved the inclusion of chorus in the audience on two levels (orchestra and mezzanine), as well as children's choir at each side. this gave a 'surround-sound' quality to the performance as we were truly surrounded by music...we became part of the performance, in a way. all in all, magical evening filled with incredible musical performances. brought tears to my eyes and chills down my spine!

The San Antonio Symphony along with their guest artists and choral groups gave an outstanding performance worthy of their 70 year history. But beyond the crisp, professional and skilled rendition of their art and the stirring and talented solos, was the obvious enjoyment of performing that inundated the entire cast. That enthusiasm toward their work made it the most enjoyable symphony I have ever attended. I must add that this feeling of self-enjoyment of their art was extremely evident in the performance of Gil Shaham and set the mood right from the start. Ken Masur's energy was phenomenal! But he did not rush the movements, allowing the audience to savor. I look forward to having more opportunities to attend future concerts. I have only one small criticism or more of a suggestion, it would perhaps be good to display the libretto bilingually.

As I watched, I felt as if I had gazed into a majestic skyline of audible pleasure.

This was a great demonstration why San Antonio needs and supports the Symphony. It was a full house and everyone was having a great time!

The perfomances of both the San Antonio Symphony and Elmar Olivera were unforgetable. Mr Oliveira's mastery of his instrument was amazing to see and hear!! The Symphony's Pictures at an Exposition was truly GREAT!!

While the symphony did an amazing job, the movie was too loud, which took the focus off of the live music. I loved it, however, if the movie was to be muted and kept with subtitles while the music was playing...it would have been amazing!

Attended the Harry Potter event also, so I found this one soon after and immediately bought 4 tickets and brought friends. They're now buying tickets for the Star Wars event. Love these movie and orchestra shows so much!!! Keep them coming !

The symphony was fantastic, and it was like I was watching the movie at home, but with a symphony surrounding me! Of course, the Majestic Theatre is always fantastic, and this was no different!

I can't imagine ever not being able to go see the San Antonio Symphony when they put on a movie production. These are just incredible. It's so easy to get caught up in the movie and not even realize the music is being played live because they are that good. But then you can also get lost watching the musicians because you can tell some of them are really loving playing that movie music. The score for this movie was awesome. I absolutely can not wait for Star Wars in September!!

My son, neice, and I attended the Friday night performance. We loved having the live soundtrack to one of our favorite movies. We were originally concerned it would be overpowering and distracting,, but it wasn't at all. Well done!

If you love the movie, you will love the Symphony version. Live music is always great and the SA Symphony was awesome! Great for all ages.

Watching the symphony perform the soundtrack to LA LA Land brought a whole new level of complexity to this beautiful film. When you can see the orchestra in action, you appreciate the music even more. While there is not a bad seat in the house, the balcony level did have trouble seeing portions of the stage due to the movie screen. Keep this in mind if you have a favorite section of the orchestra that you like to watch.

SA Symphony is amazing! We had seats in the very last row on the balcony and the view and acoustics were wonderful. Definitely going back!

Saw the movie when it first came out. Don t remember laughing as much as I did this time. I definitely didn t cry at the movie theater. This time I bawled. Sa symphony did a magnificent job!!!

I enjoyed the movie & seeing it again with the SA Symphony was such a cool experience. The music blended so perfectly at time you forget you were listening live. I thoroughly enjoyed it & would love to see more!

It was for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. You could feel the music in a more raw and magical way, which just made the movie that much more great. Would definitely recommend to others for when they do the upcoming films!

I don't know what it is about a live performance of a movie score while watching said movie, but it has put me in tears (happy tears) twice now. The San Antonio Symphony is very talented, and to keep up with the movie is, I think, a monumental feat. The setting of the Majestic Theatre does not hurt. If you see an upcoming movie/symphony performance coming up that piques your interest, go go go!

I advise not sitting in the first several rows; the screen feels too close. I was in the 3rd row & my eyes hurt after, plus my neck had strained some. But the symphony was amazing & seamless with the movie.

My 7-yr old son loves classical music, so I thought that this would be a wonderful way to help him appreciate it within the context of modern-day pop culture. I wanted him to understand that classical music as a genre is pervasive in today's culture, as much as it can be appreciated in its original, historical context -- his favorite composer is Mozart. This was my first time experiencing a movie with a live orchestra, and I must say -- WOW! I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone -- classical music lover or not. Next time, we'll be sure to dress the part!

Always love the Majestic! So glad it's been preserved and we can still enjoy such a classic and beautiful venue. The SA Symphony was excellent! The movie in concert concept is really cool and we all enjoyed it very much (ages 43 to 12 in our group). Nothing like experiencing the unmatched music of John Williams live while watching the film it goes with on the big screen. We found ourselves enjoying watching the musicians and seeing what instrument was playing for various sounds just as much as we were watching the movie on the screen. Revolutionary idea and a highly enjoyable experience. Very much recommended!

The symphony was absolutely amazing! I look forward to seeing future Harry Potter related performances as well as others. The staff at the Majestic box office is also super helpful and kind. I missed my original ticket time due to a car accident (everyone was okay) and they were completely understanding and got us seats to the later show. I m so grateful for their help as the symphony performance was the only highlight of my weekend after that accident. The staff and symphony really lifted my spirits after a terrible morning!

This is my 2nd of such event. Wonderful as usual. I plan to attend all of these.

My wife and I took our nieces and nephews to experience the symphony. Words can not express the excitement and amazement in their faces when they heard the music. This was a wonderful experience for the entire family.

I took my 18 year old daughter and her boyfriend, who are very big Harry Potter fans, to this amazing event! Having the live orchestra play with the movie was beyond words !! It was mesmerizing. A lot of the audience was in full Harry Potter attire. (my daughter included). ;-) We cant wait for the next one in October.

The Majestic Theater really lived up to its name. Everywhere you turn there are beautiful details. The movie was fun, and the orchestra stole the show with their talent! My only slight complaints were that the sound was a bit muffled and I couldn't understand what they were saying in the movie when the music was playing. My row was very cramped too, not enough leg room and my knees hung over the seat in front of me. Overall fantastic experience though and I'd highly recommend!

Never been to a symphony production, and I thought this was a great first experience. Absolutely I would go back again. Very enjoyable.

I took my 15 year old nephew who plays the Viola in his school band. From the moment they played their first note, we were WOWED! It was very exciting to see and hear the actual music from the movie performed live. We plan to come back in Feb. for Jurassic Park!

Second time seeing the symphony accompany a blockbuster movie. It's too easy to get caught up in the movie because the symphony was so amazingly incorporated. Fantastic performance. Can't wait for Jurassic Park!

They did an AMAZING job and everything was synced perfectly with the movie. They say they will be doing Jurassic Park and I can't wait! I hope they continue doing this!!!

Raiders of the Lost Ark is an amazing, legendary film to begin with, but combining it with live score is an extraordinary experience. Many times, you forget the music is live because the symphony is so on point. I would definitely recommend this event for all ages.

Quite a remarkable experience. The symphony played the entire score to the movie while you watched it. There is nothing like live music and this lead to an unforgettable evening. Well worth the money. You will be talking about it for days...

I wasn't really paying attention and discovered that we would be seeing the movie along with listening to the score. For me that was an added bonus. The symphony was magnificent, the energy from the crowd was very high. It was fun to see new folks discover the motion picture and love it as much as we did, but the live score just continued to wash over us in such an unexpected way. Well Done!

The Christmas Eve in all bells was amazing. Look forward to next year!

As my first time to the Majestic Theatre and seeing the Nutcracker Ballet it was an unbelievable experience! I would highly recommend this theater and ballet to others.

This was our first time seeing the SASO and we really enjoyed it. The Majestic was beautiful, and the symphony performed flawlessly, as did the guest performers.

this was so much fun and there was no pushing through a huge crowd in a small area it is an event i would like to make a family tradition

San Antonio Symphony presents Holiday POPS was excellent. Our family had a great time. Ken David Masur is brilliant! I would definitely recommend this event to my friends and relatives.

I keep searching for words to describe the San Antonio Symphony's Braswell on Broadway shows I saw over the weekend. "Superb!" "Incredible!" "Terrific!" The shows were all of those, but more. Perhaps "glorious" describes them, or even "moving." Yes, "moving, " absolutely, but maybe what I am reaching for is "joyous." Yes, "joyous" says it best for me! I was left with a joy in my soul that resonated long after the last note was sung and the last bow taken. Donald Braswell and his guest, Irish soprano Margaret Keys, gave performances that set just the right tone, wowing and surpising those in the audience who had never heard them before. Mr. Braswell is a native of the San Antonio area, but somehow has not been well-known to local audiences . In my opinion that will not be the case after his exposure to a large and enthusiastic crowd of symphony-goers. His is a voice that is unsurpassed at conveying emotion and is one that immediately impresses the listener. I heard comments all around me from people who were hearing him for the first time: "Unbelieveable voice!" "Can't believe we haven't heard him before!" From the opening song to the very last, there were smiles all around. I believe Donald Braswell went a long way in raising awareness of his incredible talent with these shows. And, if I might add a personal aside, it was worth every mile of the trip I made from South Carolina just to see him perform!

Attending Cirque de la Symphonie at the Majestic Theatre was the highlight of our trip. It was our first visit to this incredibly magnificent theater. Seeing the theatre was worth the price of the ticket. The Symphony was world class and the circus stunning. The Symphony hostesses were so helpful and enthusiastic about their theater.

The orchestra was in great "Spooky" spirit and looked terrific in their costumes! The musical selections were perfect!! Great fun for kids and adults....

A wonderful experience for even the smallest Beatles fan. The band was amazing but slightly overpowered the orchestra. I would have liked to see a the band and the orchestra working together to play the songs, which they did, but because the band was right in front of them it kind of took the focus completely away from the orchestra. They should have set the band off to one side and somehow incorporated the orchestra into their show as opposed to just having them as a background. Overall it was fabulous and I cant wait to go again!!

To celebrate being together for seven months, I surprised my boyfriend with tickets to see the Classical Mystery Tour. I knew he was a big Beatles fan, but I never could've predicted how much he would enjoy the concert! It was so fun to see those guys out there playing and singing some of the the greatest songs of all time with authenticity. Their stage presence was great and their costumes were perfect! I would recommend this concert to anyone from ages 5-99 looking for a fun and classy night out, without breaking the bank!

Unforgettable evening for sure!! SA Symphony + Beatlemania = PRICELESS!

This was my first time to go see the San Antonio Symphony. It was probably the most exciting and entertaining musical concert I have ever been too. This was also my first exposure to a professional city orchestra. Part of my enjoyment came from the music of John Williams they played. I had never heard the original music live. It moved me to hear such beautiful music live. The authentic Star Wars characters and mini scenes added a nice comic touch. This definitely will not be the last time I go to see the SA symphony. Thanks for the great memory

I've been attending performances by the SA Symphony since elementary school and have even performed with them as a professional dancer. I've seen their regular classical events and other special performances. This was definitely the most fun performance I've been to and ranks up there among the best. There is nothing like hearing popular movie theme music performed LIVE!!! I loved every minute of it. Props to your actors, musicians AND CONDUCTOR! He has a great sense of humor and I'm glad you found him! You should definitely do this again!!!!

Wonderful experience, sound was fantastic. The seats were a bit close, I'm a tall man.

This was my second Harry Potter Symphony and the experience was incredible. The first time was in the orchestra seats and the second in the balcony. It seemed that (to me) that the balcony or mezzanine is the best area to experience the show.....you can see the movie and symphony better. I also felt as if the music was better heard. On the floor, it seemed as if the music was drowned out by the movie and up on the balcony/mezzanine it was a perfect blend......or maybe it was mixed better this time??? Who knows but I enjoyed the second symphony better although both were excellent. A friend who saw the first symphony told me she saw it in the mezzanine and the line for drinks and the bathroom were a lot quicker than that of the floor so that s why i did the balcony this time. Next show will be the mezzanine.

I surprised my a Harry Potter fanatic son & we had the best time! Parking was easy, walk was short, lots of places close for snacks, easy entry & exit. The performance was terrific!

A truly entertaining and interesting event - Ready for the next installment in the series

Didn t get a chance to see Sorcerer s Stone in concert but Chamber of Secrets is one of my favorite HP films so I couldn t miss it. The symphony killed it!! Constant goosebumps and I often found myself forgetting they were there cause the music was so perfect. It was also really cool that they played through the beginning portion of the credits! Very well deserved standing ovation. Hope they continue to do the rest of the HP films! If you are a fan, any of these are a must! Thank you, San Antonio Symphony!!!

Of course, the movie is amazing but the soundtrack being played live was incredible! I hope other great soundtrack movies are shown. Awesome watching the movie and the score is played live.

The symphony did an incredible job! The whole experience was tremendous! The fan enthusiasm that you don't get in a movie theater and the interactive feeling you get from the live music made it even more magical to watch and be a part of!

Great performance, but please remind audience members to sit & enjoy the music during the credits. This is a great concert, not a trip to the movies.

The Majestic Theatre is beautiful and the acoustics are good. major downside is very poorly designed concession area and crushing lines. I strongly suggest just skipping it - get your drink/snacks after the show. Of course watching a favorite movie on an enormous screen was also fun. The orchestra was spectacular!!!! Full and rich and so much talent on the stage. I loved being able to see all the strings (harp, violins, violas, cellos, stand-up bass). But a request, please please put all the other amazing and crucial parts of the orchestra, hidden on the back row, up higher so we can see them!!! There were multiple drummers and percussionists, oboe, clarinet, trombone, and more. We want to see them!!

The event ran too late. It started at 8 p.m. on a Friday, then the intermission made it run even longer. By the end of the movie people around me were falling asleep in their chairs. Didn't make it home til past midnight. The subtitles were INCREDIBLY distracting! This should be an event for fans of the movie, who don't need subtitles to know what's going on. If it was an ADA compliance, then they just seem unnecessary -- the event was a Symphony. I loved/hated the crowd enthusiasm. If you don't like loud cheering and clapping throughout movies, this event is not for you.

The musicians are fantastic. The music was spot on.

A very welcome and excellent concept to present and enhance the Harry Potter stories - - a magical experience

Being completely honest, I am not a Harry Potter fan at all, but my boyfriend is. I got tickets for this show as a surprise for him and I did not expect to be into it at all as I mentioned that I am not a fan. However, the symphony was AMAZING and actually made me enjoy the movie. They are an extremely talented group of individuals and although I am still not a fan of Harry Potter, I would definitely go to another show. Check it out!!

It was a fabulous experience! The combination of a fantastic movie and a fabulous symphony providing the live score was priceless. Certainly worth more than the ticket price. The Majestic is a beautiful venue with great acoustics.

The live playing of The Sorcerer's Stone was an incredible experience. The seemless production by the Symphony was erie and amazing. My brain struggled to belive that the music wasn't coming from speakers or the movie. Let it be known though that is you enjoy watching the musicians you shouldn't sit higher than the orchestra seats. The projection screen blocks all of the brass and wood wind players from anyone sitting in the mezzinine or higher.

I was in complete awe from beginning to end! Magical

This was a wonderful night. At times because of how perfect the symphony was, I forgot that I was not only at a showing but concert too!

I really enjoyed visiting the Majestic Theatre! It is absolutely beautiful although I would recommend getting there early to park as the line to get into the garage was very long and we only made it into the theatre a few minutes before the show started despite being 30 minutes ahead of schedule when we initially headed to the theatre. The Symphony was magnificent! They did a wonderful job with the music. I was very impressed! The actual movie played from beginning to end with the words, as well as subtitles, included. The orchestra played along with the movie as it played. I did forget about the music at times because you get so caught up in the actual movie, but i had a great experience non the less.

The symphony was incredible! It was wonderful to attend an event where so many Potter fans could cheer for their favorite character of their favorite House. The conductor was actually encouraging it. The music was fantastic. Will be attending again in October.
