This is the 2nd time I've seen Robert Cray and it seems like he was better this time than the last. He has a sense of humor and segways from one song to the other joking with his audience. Most songs played were off his new cd but played a few of the older, more popular tunes like "Strong Persuader" and "Forecast Calls for Pain." I would highly recommend seeing him if you ever have the chance. The new venue, Sony Hall was intimate and a great setting for acts like Robert Cray. We came early for dinner and enjoyed the food immensely! Servers were attentive and made the experience that much more enjoyable. We took my mother-in-law for her birthday and she had the best time!

Robert Cray is simply a master performer. How he keeps it fresh amazes me. He played a great mix of my old favorites and newer songs. His energy and sense of humor keeps the ball rolling. All too soon , it is but a great memory. Until next time!

My wife and I have been RC fans for a long time. He and the band did not disappoint us. Their mix of old with the new (which we are looking forward to hearing more of) made the night unforgettable. RC's voice is unmistakeable and always will be and his sharing of the spotlight is so typical - that's why he has a loyal fan base. We were disappointed in the opening act who weren't that bad until the last song (which lasted way to long...and featured a blend of Johnny Cash songs - disappointing). RC was terrific and the Pageant rocked!

First and foremost Robert and the band rocked, been waiting a long time to see him and now we have and it was great. Robert Cray made up for that though and he is truly a guitar genius, almost as the guitar is a third arm. Hope to see him and his band back here very very soon.

I saw Robert Cray probably almost 20 years ago and thought he was an excellent blues guitarist with some really good original tunes. In the twenty years since, it is obvious that he has honed his craft to master status. Last night was amazing not only in his guitar virtuosity but also in the heartfelt lyrics that he has put into the songs he has written. I thought it was one of the best concerts I'd seen in years.

I've been trying to get to a Robert Cray show for years. He's a family favorite. Found a show in Anaheim for my sister a few months ago, but at the time nothing was scheduled for the St Louis area. Needless to say, I was jealous, disappointed, and happy for my sister at the same time. Imagine my excitement when I received the Pageant email notifying me he would be here in July. No time was wasted ordering tickets. What a show. Great old music, new music. There are plenty of songs I wish he'd played, but I realize that there is a time limit. His voice and personality are fabulous. I hope to see him again sometime. Hopefully, it won't take as long as it took for me to see him the first time.

If you're a fan of Robert, you will find his current tour enjoyable. It's not a rollicking, rowdy blues show, but rather a showcase for his flawless vocals and tastefully restrained guitar solos. If I have one complaint, it is that he is too fond of a mid-tempo R&B vibe. I really would love to see him rock out more.

Okay, if you've never seen the Robert Cray Band, you've got to get off your butt and go do it! It is just plain ol "feel good" music that will get you up on your feet and dancing! I've been listening to this band for decades and have seen them before, but this time was really special for me, as I was right there at the stage and have never before had an experience like this, ever. The Wonder Ballroom in Portland was the perfect venue. Bob and the guys performed many new songs from their new CD, "THIS TIME" and they were fantastic! I purchased the CD there at the show, and have not stopped listening to it. "That's what keeps me rockin'" written by drummer, Tony, is a real energetic, fun piece that I love. "I Can't Fail" is Bob's creation, and really gets to me, as does "Forever Goodbye" by Bob and Sue.....(way to go, girl!) :o) At any rate, you just can't go wrong at a Robert Cray concert. I walked outa there with my battery fully charged......thanks guys!

First off let me tell you I am a huge Robert Cray fan and have seen him from coast to coast over the last 25 years. That said...I thought he was good last night but like most of us he has mellowed quite a bit. Not that he was ever a high energy performer but at times you could hear the crickets over the music. The crowd was also a bit out of it to the point where I felt like I should just golf clap after each song? Oh well I guess we are all getting old but i still love me some Robert Cray.

Performance was great! Finally I have gotten to see Robert Cray in concert and it was well worth the wait. Being able to stand right in front of the stage at the House of Blues was the best seat I could of gotten eventhough we purchased balcony seats which were horrible ( they were so far away from the performer) In the future I will purchase General admission seat! Robert Cray just want I wanted to here! It was just great to finally get to see him perform!

I was disappointed in both the performance and the performer. I had never heard the performer. I attended on the recommendation of friends because he was labeled as a blues/soul/ R&B singer. My disappointment is because while his lyrics may have been that of the blues or R&B, his delivery was more rock than anything. Now I know and it s OK. With regard to the performances, the show, the sound specifically, I would rate it poor. The small setting was great but there was a very noticeable buzz coming from the speakers. In addition, the band played much too loud, again, reminiscent of rock as oppposed to the blues.

Great musicians don't always put on great concerts. No so here! No opening act, just a solid hour and 40 minutes of jaw-dropping guitar and vocals. Very nice mix of blues, soul, and R&B. Great back-up band, but it was pretty much all Robert front and center. Sound system perfect as well. This was a great night!

Robert Cray was an amazing performer and everything I expected. The intimacy of the Northern Lights Theater made the performance feel up close and personal! My only complaint about the theater was that several noisy audience members were not dealt with. I felt that their noise and loud conversation DURING the performance was disrespectful to a performer on the level of Mr. Cray and did not reflect well on Milwaukee

The Robert Cray Band at Potowatami Northern Lights. Well, as much as I'd love to give a great, 2 thumbs up review, I just can't. Here's why- the venue, seating, service, all top notch. The band, overall, very good. If you came to watch probably one of the best blues guitarists in the genre play- you won't be disappointed. However, if you came to hear old school RCB, you won't get much of it at this show. I've been a fan for over 15 years, and even though the band played for a good hour and 45 min, they only played 3 songs I was familiar with. There were others feeling the same way as myself as evidenced by the yells of "play some old school!" from the fans. As I said, excellent guitar and vocals, lousy set list. If I knew this in advance, I would not have went.

Great concert. The sound levels were off on some of the bands. It would have been better with 3 acts instead of 4 - lots of people, including myself had to leave before the headliner, Robert Cray, was finished as it was a long day and getting late into evening. Some drunk people around especially at end of evening that spoiled some of the enjoyment.

Great to see the 5-time Grammy winner again in live performance. He played a great selection of songs from his vast career with his unique style of playing blues. They had to swap out his Fender Strat guitars every song or two because he beats them so hard that he must knock them out of tune. The sound started off very good, but when they got louder for the last 4 or 5 songs, you could hear "buzz" from the amps over some of his very quiet blues licks when the band got quiet for him. I think he should play those songs earlier in the setlist when it was lower overall volume, or figure out what the "buzz" was coming from and fix it. He seemed a little perturbed, with the older crowd, for not standing and clapping as much as he wanted, as he tapped his microphone several times to check and see if anyone was out there! Overall, I enjoyed listening to him my way, as he played his music his way.

Robert never disappoints. His delivery of his classics are always just as fresh as the first time you heard them. Even his songs that you are not familiar with reach you because of his clear and poetic storytelling ability. He is truly one of a kind. Even though his style is not the same as the classic blues forerunners, the blues is still alive and well and with him the legacy of the blues will continue. Also, he and the band were so tight! I hope Mr. Hiatt had as much fun as we all did...and it sure looked and sounded like he did. Admittedly, Mr. Hiatt is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time, but I'm not biased in saying this was an energetic show that even casual fans would love. He delivered a stunning performance of Long Time Comin' off the new album...as soon as John started singing I knew it was going to be another exceptional Hiatt ballad. Go see John Hiatt live--his positive energy is infectious. Robert Cray opened with a great set that made me wish I'd seen more of him over the last 25 years...he looks the same, sounds the same, and is still one of the best guitarists around. He played a couple favorites off his Strong Persuader album that were so good I forgive him not playing Smokin' Gun, and played a good mix of newer and new songs. I loved the show--thank you, guys!

A great show by a terrific singer/guitar player and band. They did a fair share of new music to promote a recent new album with a couple of older signature tunes thrown in, including the all-time great Smoking Gun as one of the encores. Robert Cray and band still have game. If think they were disappointed by the audience reaction. Its hard to get excited in a room full of older people sitting around in banquet chairs. The video screens saved this venue from a poor rating. Whats up with these casino venues? Banquet halls with stages. No dance floor. While seats were spread out enough that there may have been room to dance, standing up alone in front of others is awkward. Mr Cray and company need to play a venue/club with a mosh pit/dance floor surrounded by tables where staff bring you drinks. A proper club. This was not such a venue. Set included Chicken in the kitchen, don't even care, will you think of me, this makes two. Closed out the show with smoking gun, because of me. I would see him again but maybe not in this venue.

What a great experience it was to get the chance to see this legend in person. It was completely sold out because we know what fantastic music is. The audience was the best/most invested group of appreciative concert goers I've ever been in. Everyone there knew the songs & were there for a reason. Mr. Cray lived up to everyone's expectations. He didn't miss a beat. It was an awesome show.

I've seen Robert Cray and his band a few times and apparently he's only gotten better with age. A true crowd-pleaser and gifted musician. The only negative was the venue. A ballroom with banquet chairs isn't the best environment for this type of show. I'd recommend seeing him in a real theater or concert hall.

The Robert Cray Band was right on! They played songs from his new CD, "I Love Soul & Hi Rhythm" plus many of their fan favorites from the past. Cray's fingers were a blur as they flew across his guitar. He hasn't lost a beat! His new songs are awesome, plus he does a Bill Withers cover that's out-of-this-world! A must-see concert! I can't wait until he comes to town again!

I have never seen Robert before and was looking forward to the show and was not disappointed. Great music and up close seating made it a fantastic night. His band was tight and it really looked like they were enjoying themselves up there . The sound was fantastic at the Rose. This time we did not eat there , a tad expensive, so we ate at the nearby El Chollo. The show was moved to The Rose in Pasadena from The Saban Theater

First time to see Robert Cray live and definitely won't be the last. True to form bluesman whom didn't disappoint with both the 'strat and vocals. The Jefferson Theater is one of my favorite venues.

First time experiencing live and in person despite being a fan since the "Chicago Sound" days ("Too Many Cooks", "The Welfare", "The Score", etc.). Misters Weinberg, Cousins, and Carter accompanied 'Young Bob's' showmanship unbelievably well. Especially enjoyed the Bill Withers cover 'Same Love That Made Me Laugh'.

Could have done without singing about the wall. Leave the politics out. Other than that it is worth the show.

First time at the Jefferson Theater.Cool, historic, and acoustic. Seemed like the perfect size for Robert Cray. The band was tight and on target. Robert's playing and vocals were spot on. I've seen him twice before and I think this was my favorite performance.

My wife and I really enjoyed the show on 10/8/17 at the Carolina Theater. What a great venue, don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Robert Cray and his band rocked the house with his awesome style of Blues. He had the crowd on the feet and dancing in the isles. Everyone left knowing that had seen one of the Greatest Blues Guitarist of all times !!!!!!!!

I've seen Robert Cray play 6 or 7 times since 1990, including the performance in Durham NC this past Sunday. He is still an extremely talented musician but invests little in being an entertainer and his concerts have shrunk to 90 minutes. He no longer plays all of his most well-known songs, so don't expect a sing- along. I left the latest concert feeling short-changed and realized it will probably be the last time I pay to see him play.

Really enjoyed the opening act "Bind Boy Paxton". Very talented and easy to understand. We were really looking forward to Robert Cray Band a long time favorite of ours. The volume was painfully loud making the vocals hard to understand and the instruments muddled. My wife and I had to leave after 3 songs because we couldn't take the noise anymore. I think maybe the sound techs need to have their hearing checked. There is no reason for ear splitting volume. Louder is not necessarily better. We have attended many other events at the performing arts center and this is the first time we left early because we were actually in pain. Very disappointed.

Enjoyed watching this legend sing and play some amazing blues. Hope this event continues for many years and that Robert will return. I would see him again in a minute. I just wish hew would have been able to play for another hour. The time went by so fast and he has such a large catalog of music to choose from. Looking forward to next year and beyond.

He played for almost two hours non stop. Great voice and range. The one drawback: he didn't sing my favorite song, You're Everything! The venue was first class all the way. Very similar to a Vegas lounge.
